The Lookout

We had a wonderful breakfast experience. The view was absolutely beautiful and the service was excellent. Our waiter was so open, friendly, and welcoming, which made us feel truly at home. The atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable, and it was the perfect spot to start the day. We will definitely be back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great breakfast with a stunning view.

A great location overlooking the beach. It is an in demand place to meet up for meals and drinks. Unfortunately I think it was the worst attempt at a pizza I have encountered in South Africa and other countries. The dough must have been rolled out with a rolling pin as it was barely as thick as a coin. Obviously that would remove all the air to the rising of the dough by the yeast. It was definitely thin crust with the outer circumference of the pizza overcooked and inedible.

Great views and atmosphere. The Hake and Calamari combo was fresh and tasty, and the Bar One cheesecake was simply divine! We had great service from Riaan, who made our dining experience a great one, especially with the dessert recommendation!

The service was very good, Venue was lovely on the beach. Unfortunately bench table uncomfortable to sit on and altho food was tasty it was VERY little. Don't order any fish dishes. With hake and calamari grilled combo, you need a magnifying glass to see the fish on the plate and for R185 it was a rip off. The sides which you could choose 2 of, came in 2 very small dishes which was about 3 teaspoons full. Very disappointing!! Customers at the table next to us also complained about their small piece of fish on the fish dish they ordered. Stay away from the fish!! Won't be coming back here in a hurry!! Unfortunately didn't take a photo of the small plate of food.

The Lookout Deck boasts one of the most breathtaking seaside views in Plettenberg Bay, perched right on the beachfront, it offers an unbeatable backdrop of ocean and horizon while you dine. The option to sit inside or outside is a plus, and the gentle sea breeze adds something special to the experience. The menu is varied, with almost daily specials and occasional live performances. While we appreciate live music, the upbeat style on the night felt a little mismatched to the setting—we would’ve loved something more relaxed to complement the sound of the waves and tranquil atmosphere. We ordered the grilled hake, which arrived fairly quickly and well portioned, but unfortunately, both portions were overcooked. The side dishes, however, crispy chips and fresh salad, were excellent. Although the waitress was friendly, service was somewhat slow and a few requests were left unattended. Despite this, when we raised the issue, a manager responded promptly, apologized sincerely, and arranged for our meals to be redone. The replacements were superb—tender, perfectly cooked, and truly delicious. The coffee that followed was excellent, and we appreciated the senior staff checking in personally to ensure all was well. All in all, a pleasant and memorable date night with my wife. We’d gladly return and look forward to another meal here.

Nice place, nice decor, nice atmosphere. Food was under par. Was expecting better. Had the chicken burger with onion rings. All very bland unfortunately. I guess you paying for the view and not the food. There was a constant sewerage smell that wafted in and out the whole time which was really unpleasant.

The pint of prawns Wednesday special is an incredible and yummy value play! Great service and the indoor beach grotto is cool! Only criticism would be that the music is played too loudly occasionally and is too ‘aggressive’ for the tranquil beachside and customer chatter. Less night club perhaps and more Jack Johnson pls. Otherwise, Lookout is a Plettenberg Bay gem. Recommend!
