What an exceptional bed and breakfast. The owners immediately make you feel like you are right at home greeting you with an appetizer plate and tour of the place. The views are spectacular and the rooms are very comfortable and cozy. The breakfast is phenomenal! Thanks to Brian, Tiffany, and the whole crew for a wonderful stay.

I stayed at the Lost Whale Inn for the first time and it completely exceeded my expectations. I’ve never stayed in a bed and breakfast before, and this place set the bar impossibly high. The whole inn feels cozy and homy, like slipping into someone’s lovingly kept seaside retreat. The ocean view is spectacular. Seeing the horizon from the deck and sitting by the firepit in winter, felt absolutely magical. The innkeepers were warm, friendly, and genuinely caring. Every interaction felt personal in a way big hotels can never match. Even Bosco, the resident inn cat, added to the charm with his calm little presence. Breakfast was another highlight. Homemade, delicious, and so comforting. It felt like waking up to food made with real care. If you’re looking for a quiet, beautiful, heartwarming place to stay near the redwoods and the coast, Lost Whale Inn is truly something special. I left already wanting to come back

10/10 Recommend this adorable bed and breakfast. Perfect place to stay if you're going to explore the Redwood National Parks. Beautiful views from the balcony in our room. We stayed in the Orca room. The hospitality of the owners and staff was unmatched. You really have to go and experience it for yourself. We will definitely be back later in the year and years to come. Oh, and you have to get the massage!! This is now my new favorite spot in Cali!!

My husband and I spent five nights in the Sea Lion Room. What a delight. From the wonderful ocean views, comfortable bed, hearing the calls of the sea lions, easy proximity to anything you might want to enjoy in the area, the Lost Whale Inn was an amazing find. The caring staff provides amazing service; they do everything right in their attention to all the details of your comfort and enjoyment. The breakfast buffets are the best we've experience at a Bed and Breakfast; the appetizer plates provided late afternoon were delightful, with wine and beer always available to sip as you sit on the spacious deck and enjoy watching the sunsets. You can even make s'mores at the daily fire pit in the early evening. As I said, they do everything right; don't hesitate to book a stay if you can. The Sea Lion Room is worth seeking out as a destination itself. Simply beautiful.

The property is gorgeous. Great landscape and right on the water. You can hear the sea lions from your room. The owners/staff are very kind and genuine. They provide a home cooked breakfast every morning that is absolutely delicious and a tasty charcuterie board for each room every afternoon. They will also give you suggestions on local restaurants and attractions. I would highly recommend this bed & breakfast!

My wife and I had our wedding here. And I can legitimately say from the planning, execution, food, and everything in between was perfect. And I mean that literally. I live in Vegas and I haven't had a steak as perfectly cooked and seasoned as I had at my dinner after the ceremony. And the breakfast...It will haunt your dreams. I don't know who their chef is...but they could out shine anyone on the Vegas Strip for most dishes. I'll let all the pictures and other reviews speak about how beautiful and peaceful the area is. I am the “frugal” one in our marriage, for sure. But I will say, whether you are staying here on vacation, or paying for a small-medium sized wedding, the service and the serenity of this property is worth every single penny.

The lost whale inn is incredible! The views, rooms, breakfasts, everything is great! My husband and I did a trip here with my parents and it was such a special trip because of this B&B. All the staff is super welcoming and accommodating. If you’re looking for a great place to stay this is it!

The views from the property are absolutely breathtaking, the pictures don’t do it justice. The sound of seals barking and waves crashing lulled us to sleep every night. I haven’t experienced customer service at this level in a long time. Our bags were carried to our room at check-in, we were given a brief tour and treated to a concierge who helped us plan our day at breakfast. They have snacks and beverages available all day. The owners work so hard to make you feel welcomed and are attuned to every detail. The gourmet buffet breakfast was the icing on the cake! We loved this place and can’t wait to return.

Definitely pricey, but this was our favorite BnB on our road-trip from Texas. We didn't spend a ton of time at the BnB itself but there was a lot we could have done. The beach with the Stellar's sea lines on the rocks (could hear them from the BnB), the attention to small details in the rooms, the sounds of the waves, the great breakfast, walking through the amazing garden; it was really one of our greatest experiences on this trip. The interaction with the hosts was a bit odd though, generally seemed very annoyed most of the time; however we never had any issues getting what we needed or answering questions.

The owners of this beautiful Inn are so lovely to their staff, that the staff turns right around and is that loving to the guests. From the moment I arrived, Keaton (the hostess) greeted me warmly and offered to help me with my luggage. I felt immediately enveloped with genuine kindness. When I realized i had no swimsuit for the spa, she offered to find me a substitute. Which she did. And the spa was wonderful with the ocean pounding below on the rocks, and seals barking in the night. And that's the way it went, the whole stay. When I missed the wonderful breakfast buffet in the morning, Keaton cheerfully fixed me a beautiful plate, and Met (also a hostess) made me a "happy face" orange juice to top it off.! Help with luggage was offered on leaving, along with much assistance with any request I had. The Beluga Room was absolutely wonderful, romantic, cozy, and balcony open to the ocean. The beach trail was exhilarating and do-able, even for an 81 year old woman. I have never had such a lovely time. Highly recommended. And dont forget to roast marshmellows (provided by the Inn) at the firepit at night, and get some hugs with Boscoe the old black cat who is waiting to love every human being in sight. G. Lost Whale Inn really is a special place. A+ on everything! So relaxing! The seals in the ocean entertained us a bit using binoculars.

Wow! What a lovely bed and breakfast! Upon arrival we were met by a very friendly young woman who gave us a tour and walked us to our room. There was a delicious charcuterie plate waiting for us minus our food allergies and that was so nice of them to consider this. The view was spectacular and we showed up at check in so we were able to sit outside in the warm sun and take a short walk around the grounds. The landscaping is beautifully kept. There is wine, juice, soda and beer complimentary for guests. The deck has plenty of seating and there are chairs closer to the ocean view as well as a picnic table area. There is a fire lit at sunset with s'more fixings. We don't do well with camp fire but I thought it was such a cute amenity for guests. Our room, The Orca, had a beautiful view and the bed was very comfortable. I also appreciated that there weren't any down pillows, I'm allergic so I was able to use all of the pillows. The rooms surprisingly didn't have thin walls. We could hear other guest walking in the hall but we could not hear them in their rooms. In the morning a delicious brunch is included and that was probably the best frittata I've ever had. Everything was fresh and it was nice sitting looking out over the water. The inn had so many cute decorative items and art. There was a small library for reading material, a cute gift shop, and a large hot tub overlooking the ocean. We would definitely stay again. We had the best time. This isn't just an inn. It's an experience. Thank you Lost Whale Inn for a wonderful stay!

Suck a lovely setting and soothing experience. Very warm welcoming staff and the rooms are delightful. Food was average but large variety and a little bit of everything to pick from. The grounds are on a a pleasant coastal hillside either walking trails and views over that famous shore break scenery. You won't be disappointed.

This must be one of the most stunning places to stay on the plant, with the warmest hospitality to boot! If you are looking for an awe-inspiring romantic stay you will never forget, I highly recommend booking at The Lost Whale. The grounds and ocean views from the inn are so fantastic, we spent all afternoon and evening wandering the colorful gardens and staring at the sea with our beautiful appetizer plate and wine. We walked down to the private beach and lingered at the 2 comfortable Adirondack chairs set up on a platform there. In the evening, we enjoyed fresh cookies and made our own S'mores with provided supplies at the lovely fire that was set up, overlooking the sea at sunset. I could go on & on, but suffice it to say, the amenities are stellar, rooms are super charming and comfortable, breakfast is spectacular, and the hosts are the very best (shout out to Sarah and Melanie). Both times we have stayed in The Sea Lion room with a comfortable bed looking directly at the sea, private little porch overlooking the flower garden, and semi-private wing of the inn almost all to our own. Staying here is a splurge you will not regret. We can't wait to return!

I stayed at Lost Whale Inn and had an incredible experience. Brian and Tiff were the most welcoming and generous hosts and the property was stunning. We soaked in the hot tub, received the best massages and ate the best food! I would 100% recommend this stay and can't wait to go back.

This is our second or maybe third time staying in this most amazing B&B. So wonderful. Usually the second (or third) time staying in a B&B is disappointing not equal to the first experience. However, the Lost Whale is a keeper. Whenever we visit our family who live in this area, this will be our B&B home. If you are ever in this area, please take a moment to look at the inn, grounds, and talk to the owners who live onsite. It's just fantastic!

This was a lovely establishment, right on the water. You can even hear the sea lions barking and the grounds and rooms were beautifully decorated. We highly recommend this!

Absolutely everything!! From the time of our arrival to the time when we said goodbye to the wonderful staff, Sarah and Whitney couldn't have been friendlier!! We indulged ourselves with an incredible duo massage in the new massage bungalow. The sea lion room has a stunning view. The dining was superb! Dinner and breakfast was 5 star rating! We can't wait to go back!!!

This place is AMAZING. My husband and I spent our honeymoon here and could not have dreamt of a better stay. Everything offered here feels so intentional. Every breakfast was better than the one before it, every evening was even more cozy. We especially loved the host from our first evening, Mel. She was so helpful and offered such wonderful suggestions on how to make the most of our time in the area. I cannot recommend this spot more. Easily the best trip either of us have been on. We will be back one day for SURE.

We were lucky enough to spend a few days at this beautiful B&B. The views were amazing, the breakfast and afternoon appetizers were excellent, and the staff were extremely warm, welcoming, and most accommodating! Can't wait to visit again!

It's too bad Yelp only rates up to 5 stars. This inn deserves at least 7 or 8. Everything at the Lost Whale exceeded our expectations. The building and grounds were immaculate, and the ocean views were stunning. The staff takes the time to make sure the guests are completely satisfied. Even, Roscoe, the house cat made sure to keep our bed warm for us upon arrival. We stayed in the Sea Lion room. The bed looks directly over the ocean. What a way to wake up in the morning! They serve wine and snacks every afternoon from 4 to 6. A perfect way to enjoy the late afternoon and sunset. However, this review would not be complete without mentioning the outstanding breakfast served at 9 am sharp every morning. You will be amazed at the lengths the staff go through to put it together. It is incredible. Finally, a special shout out to the staff. You are the heart and soul of the Lost Whale. None of this would be possible without your efforts Thanks so much, we can't wait for our next visit.

The Lost Whale has three suites: Sea Lion Suite (the best of the best with living room - only available via booking by phone); Whale of a Suite (includes private foyer); Garden Suite (includes hallway connecting two rooms). Five spacious rooms, all with private baths and queen-sized beds (Blue Whale Room has a king-size bed). Beluga, Orca, Blue, Egret, Gray, Humpback, Agate and Sea Lion. All named after majestic animals of the Northern Coast. All rates include a gourmet breakfast and afternoon wine reception. Oh, did I mention the hot tub or private garden? Ahh living! And only a stones throw away is the historic Trinidad Memorial Lighthouse, or a romantic stroll on Patrick's Point State Beach, or how about a visit to the breathtaking Redwood National Park aka "the Land of the Giants", where gigantic trees tower up to 300-feet and some date to 2000 years old! In the end, I love being "in" love. But it can also be a curse because as I mature I realize how romance and daily doses of love quotes can only get you so far in a happy life. You also need to live the now and appreciate what you do have. Maybe I will marry again some day, get blessed by the magical night elf priestess, smell the scent of parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme in the Humboldt air. Y'know one of those renaissance themed weddings lol, oh gosh I'm drifting off into that novel again. Ahh memories. Turn the "light on" & hopefully it's in a room at the charming B&B called the Lost Whale... And like in the movie, Message in a Bottle... "During her morning jog on the beach, journalist Theresa Osborne discovers a bottle protruding from the sand. Inside it, she finds a heartbreaking, anonymous love letter. After her paper publishes the letter, Osborne tracks down the letter's reclusive author" (synopsis)... damn that Nicholas Sparks! Hey, the Lost Whale reminds me of the Message in a Bottle! And the love story begins...

This place is AMAZING!! The grounds are gorgeous and well kept. The inn is so cute, comfy, and clean. Plenty of nice spots to sit and enjoy the ocean views. All the staff were so friendly, attentive, and approachable. They had great recommendations for what to do in the area too. The food was soooo good. I'm gluten free and they happily accommodated me. The town it's in, Trinidad, is small so there's not much in the immediate area but a great central spot for the Redwoods and plenty of outdoor activities within a 20 minute drive. Definitely will be coming back!

There is not enough words in the English language to describe the feelings and emotions thus wonderful B&B invoke. My daughter gave my husband and I a gift certificate for our 20 year anniversary. We don't get out much, let alone just the two of us. Shelby, Mel, and the rest of the staff were so courteous and helpful. I could write a whole novel about what a wonderful experience we had. Unfortunately our trip was cut short due to the bomb cyclone, and I actually cried that we had to come home.

Staying here was an all the way around lovely experience! We received a call to let us know the shower in the room we booked was leaking, and because they were unsure if the plumber would get there before check in we were given a second room for no additional charge. The plumbing issue was resolved quickly and we enjoyed the hospitality. The view was beautiful and the food provided was delicious. The staff were incredibly kind and went out of their way to make us comfortable. I would stay again and recommend this inn to others.

Can I just start by saying -- Stop looking for any where else to stay because this is the place you want! From the greeting from hosts with an amazing appetizer tray and bottle of wine to the unbelievable (and quite delicious) breakfast the next day! Trust me you will not regret staying at this beautiful B&B with it's beautiful gardens and breathtaking view of the ocean. Enjoy strolling through the garden, sitting by the fire outdoors while watching the sunset and listening to the barking of the sea lions. So close to multiple beautiful beaches, redwoods, and parks. I cannot wait to go back again!

This inn is one of my favorite places ever. You cannot beat the views, location, and service. It's the second time we visited (first time in 2014). They've handle the new covid protocols wonderfully while maintaining excellent customer service and hospitality. We love the breakfasts and happy hours too - so good. Can't wait to go back!!

We booked our vacation in January- being new to California, we wanted to see the redwoods. In spite of the current situation- we decided to keep our reservation when we saw the update from the inn about their extra measures. The best part was that everything would be delivered to the room. Room service daily sounded ok with us! The breakfast was served exactly at 9am each morning. And it was everything you would dream it could be. Over the top- spectacular! We highly recommend a room with a balcony of one is available. We did - and the view is spectacular. We woke up to the sound of ocean and the barking sea lions. Each evening by 4pm- a wonderful plate of appetizers and a bottle of wine was waiting in the main room for you. You could take it to the gardens or to your room. We enjoyed daily excursions including horse back riding to old growth forest. And were grateful to get in the hot tub afterwards. The staff is delightfully friendly good people. We highly recommend this inn. We are already planning a return trip.

My girlfriend and I visited the Lost Whale Inn from Tahoe back in May. It was the first time either of us had stayed at a B&B, and we couldn't have been more impressed! We arrived to the sounds of sea life and sights of green, lush gardens. The service and food were outstanding!! There is something really cool about having your breakfast made for you. The hosts thought of everything: arrival snacks, coffee, private space, etc. Thank you so much! Recommend 10/10

Incredible place! I stumbled up on it when I needed a break from driving to grandma's house up north with my toddler. The owner was welcoming and brought us a plate of hors d'oeuvres, a basket for making s'mores by the fire outside and a glass for wine. Breakfast was amazing and again the owner was super accommodating to my little one. Can't wait to come back!

5+ stars. We stayed a couple nights at this quiet and relaxing place. It's not cheap but easily worth the price. The inn is just perfect in so many ways. It's small, I'm guessing around 8 rooms, many with views of the ocean. We stayed in the Gray Whale room which had a gorgeous view. The grounds and gardens are beautiful with places to sit and enjoy the view while sipping a glass of wine. There's an outdoor hot tub and a sauna on site as well as a fire pit where you can watch the sunset as you toast marshmallows from the basket of s'mores fixings they provide. Breakfast is served buffet style at 9am and varies daily. Everything we had was always delicious; frittatas, peach cobbler, pancakes, bacon, sausage and both orange juice and coffee are examples of what you might enjoy. Afternoon appetizers are provided daily as well as wine, tea and coffee. Veggies, fruits, cheeses with crackers, cookies and smoked fish were some of the items we had during our stay. They provide several bottles of wine to choose from and all were top notch. The wifi is great here which was a surprise in this remote area. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful in providing information regarding places to eat dinner or where to hike in the nearby Redwoods or where to view wild elk. They have also created a trail down to the rocky beach below although it is not for everyone - it's steep and requires negotiating a rope ladder - but worth the effort if you're in reasonable shape. The Lost Whale makes the extra effort to make your stay perfect; they truly care about each and every guest and make it a personal experience.

There are only a few places on this planet that have a view of the ocean, the surrounding cliffs and huge trees - with private access to the beach below that rival this enchanted place. An awesome B & B on the California north coast, just past Trinidad a few miles. This quintessential rugged two story north coast home is that and much more. Located a half mile or so down Patrick's Point road on the inside (ocean) side of the road. Tucked away on cliffs mixed in amongst the redwoods and giant fir up above the ocean - this is where you will find the lost whale inn. This great home is open and inviting as you walk in the front door. The glass windows opening to the back of the houses great room - spilling out onto the deck and then down onto the lawn - offer a world class view of the ocean and the beginning of what is in store during your brief time here. We recently spent an evening and booked the blue whale room - the only king bed room - the upper floor, corner room is quite spacious with a private bath that has a walk in shower (plenty of hot water and great water pressure) and the view from the dormer window, complete with a daybed and sitting area - is one of the great images on the brochure. There are eight rooms available at the Lost Whale, and they will work with you to accommodate large groups, should you want to book the whole house for a family retreat or party with friends. Something we plan to try soon. Our hosts, Gary and Guia, are fun, wonderful folks - that make you feel appreciated and welcome into their home, making sure you have pretty much anything and everything you need to be comfortable while you are there. We went for their winter special "wine, dine and unwind package" - it includes a wine reception, gourmet dinner, a night away, and 7 course gourmet breakfast(which they are known for and it was awesome). These sweet packages starts at $199 and up per couple for a night away, and they do not require a two night stay as a lot of places do on the weekends. Check in is at 3 pm. Check out 11. The wine reception and complimentary bar sets up and begins around 4, and it is quite a little spread - smoked albacore and salmon, specialty olives, mushrooms and cheeses, sliced breads and crackers, fresh carrot soup with cilantro right out of the garden, and some seasonal fruits. This little mixer worked quite nicely meeting the other guests and breaking the ice for the evening. Dinner starts around 6:30 with guests gathering earlier having a drink, talking and relaxing. It was a full house the night of our visit, we live very close to this wonderful place and our house mates for the evening had traveled from all over the state to be there, this made for great conversations and newly formed friendships - as it turned out, three others were celebrating a birthday as we were. And a small world - my wife and our host have the same birthday in November! This buffet style gourmet spread, prepared by our hosts - starting with a fresh romaine and avocado salad, with a wonderful champagne vinegar dressing and sliced sour dough bread. Dinner had several selections for the evening, two vegetarian options - a portobello mushroom lasagna, a yummy asparagus and cheeses stuffed puff pastry - both were quite tasty, there was a local caught percale sole wrapped broccoli with a wonderful sauce (which I'm not clear on but it was very good), and pork tenderloin medallions encrusted with nuts and served with a gravy and side rice. You can BYOB for dinner if you wish, we did. There were six desserts available for the night! I can't remember them all but we settled on a homemade citrus cheesecake with chocolate crumb crust, and it was simply delicious. The tawny port we brought as well, went with it wonderfully! After dinner, we decided to slip away and went for a soak in the hot tub - with our ports in hand, we discovered a nice sized, octagonal tub it is very comfortable. Warm, not hot. The area, is private and secluded - through the gate and up the stairs, a wood deck area with bench seats and lots of plants around, also has an amazing view of the ocean though the sun had already set by the time we got in. They provide robes for your use, there are a couple freshly laundered hanging in your room upon arrival. Retiring to our room for the evening - full, relaxed and happy - the sounds of the waves crashing on the rocks below in the distance, sleep came quickly. The bed was a little soft for my liking or maybe it needed to be flipped - as I woke a little stiff - my only minor issue. My wife woke early and watched the morning from the day bed window - her words amazing. The breakfast at 9:30 was wonderful, hot fresh and filling - and coffee is available early. We stayed there this past weekend for our son's wedding. The entire experience was absolutely wonderful, from the B&B stay, to the fabulous staff, to the event wedding coordinators, to the food (both the breakfasts and the wedding dinner), to Bosco the cat, to the stunning ocean views and the surrounding redwoods... All absolute perfection. We will be going back as soon as possible.

I love this place! We were there in February, in the middle of the a freak snow storm. Had the Sea Lion room which has an extraordinary view. Breakfast was amazing. So much variety. Staff was exceptional. The grounds are beautiful. Would like to come back in the spring or summer when it's a little warmer. Truly one of our most relaxing vacations.

Seems I messed up. We are just passing through on our way to Oregon and Crater lake so we're only spending one night here. Should be spending at least 3 more. What a fantastic Inn ! Breathtaking views, incredible service, delicious afternoon snacks/wine and a great breakfast. We will definitely make this a destination in the not too distant future. While our room was nice (Gray Whale room) the next time we will try to stay in the Beluga Whale room. That's if my wife forgives me for my blunder.

If I could give this place 10 stars, I would!! The staff was amazing the whole time from helping me set up the perfect surprise for my boyfriend's birthday to even providing us a to go breakfast when we had to check out early and would miss their daily breakfast. We came for the weekend and it just happened to be during their winter special's two tickets to temptation dinner. The food is INCREDIBLE. First night was: caesar salad, portobello mushroom and asparagus risotto, pork chops with a red whine reduction, steamed clams and mussels in a white wine and garlic sauce, and roasted potatoes with a sundried tomato aoili. Second night: cranberry, feta, and sliced almonds mixed with field greens and a citrus vineagrette, chicken alfredo, sautéed green beans, portobello mushroom lasagna, oven baked salmon with a dill and lemon tarter sauce to be served over a bed of rice. Dessert both nights were gluten free chocolate torte with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce drizzled over it, myer lemon cheesecake, bananas foster ice cream and two different types of sorbets. The location was amazing and the views were gorgeous. We fell in love with the place instantly and highly recommend it!! We will definitely be coming back before the year is over.

Spent two nights here recently on the not always sunny northern California coast. Had beautiful weather!! The location is breathtaking and the breakfasts lovingly prepared by Shelby were spectacular. Our frittata was yummy and accompanied by an assortment of homemade baked goods, bacon, sausage, garlic home fries and fruit. And blueberry pancakes. Needless to say we weren't hungry until dinner. Also loved the nearby Redwoods and seeing lots of elk. A great getaway!

We enjoyed 2 relaxing nights, thanks to our gracious hosts, Tiffany and Brian. They clearly care about providing a irst class experience, which is made easier by the fantastic setting right on the ocean. Hear the sea lions roar! Sumptuous, multi-option breakfast served at 9am [kinda late for us, but...] easily carries you though lunch. Only problem is you cannot walk to anything, as this is a rural setting. Two "nearby" restaurants are accessible only by car; we can recommend the Moonstone but have your GPS on - lots of winding roads to get there. Also, avoid driving south from the Inn on Patricks Point Drive toward small-town Trinidad, as the road is a complete mess. Heading north on Patricks Point Drive to get on southbound 101 is well worth it.

I am not sure where to start on describing our AMAZING experience at The Lost Whale Inn but I'll try! We checked in on a Thursday (2/13/2020) and we were greeted by Brian, the owner, who was welcoming and genuine. He showed us around the house, the property (includes a sauna, garden, and 24 hour hot tub), and then to our room. He actually upgraded us free of charge because he had a cancellation in a larger room! So awesome! Complimentary hors d'oeuvres, wine, liquor and beer was served at 4 (they started setting this up significantly earlier then that which was so appreciated!) The dinner was served at 630 and was AMAZING. They made us feel like we were at a high end restaurant, not only with the food, but with the service. After dinner was dessert... and let. me. tell you. what... the Bananas Foster was the BEST I'VE EVER HAD. Not kidding, not exaggerating. It was so delicious! We enjoyed the 24 hour hot tub that night, followed by a walk around the gorgeous, well kept property. They have a sauna (we didn't partake) but it's a pretty cool option! We just had the most relaxing, enjoyable time and we can't wait to go back!!!

We decided to stay in Trinidad, a town we have never visited, as a base for our visit to Redwood NP. We chose the Lost Whale Inn, which is an amazing Bed and Breakfast. The pictures on the website are absolutely accurate. The grounds are gorgeously landscaped with flowers, foliage and fresh herbs, fruits and vegetables. The property overlooks the ocean (fantastic views) with lots of Adirondack chairs to sit on and relax. There is a steep path down to the beach, but it is worth the effort. We stayed in the Grey Whale Room, with a spectacular view of the ocean and off-shore rocks with sea lions. The rooms are large and comfortable, and the beds are made and rooms are cleaned while we are at breakfast. Breakfasts are unbelievably delicious. We think the cooking starts around 4 or 5am each day. Guests are asked for any particular food allergies and items are prepared with that in mind. At 9am, the food is presented on the buffet and each dish is explained, with many items using family recipes and ingredients grown on the property. Examples include Berry Crisps, Frittatas, Country Potatoes, and Pancakes, all made from scratch. In the afternoon, a fire is lit and wine and a large selection of fresh hors d'oeuvres are offered for guests to enjoy. Included are cheeses, fresh vegetables and even shrimp! Brian the Innkeeper and we believe the Chef, is friendly and knowledgeable about local attractions, restaurants and road conditions. Melanie, his assistant, is also delightful. In fact, the entire staff we interacted with could not have been nicer or more welcoming. The Lost Whale Inn has set the bar for B&Bs extremely high. If we return to Redwoods NP, we will be staying here again.

My cousin got married here and I must say this is one of the most beautiful bed and breakfast I had ever been to. I am so impressed with how nice the staff were. They are so very caring and professional at what the do. I am definitely planning on coming back for vacation at some point. I highly recommend this place!

We stayed here one night and can't wait to return. A family owned and run business- very friendly and helpful! Sits on the cliff above the ocean with a steep path down to tide pools with lots of starfish. Food great! Clean with Covid precautions in place.

My, my, my. What a place. My kid sis and I took a short road trip and we stayed for two nights. Bed facing the ocean. Place just rocked. Totally rocked and. It a single detail was overlooked. Our host, Sarah, along with her staff, really hits it outta the park. Breakfast...even wine and appetizers- S'Mores makings for the fire pit overlooking the cliffs. One of the best places I have ever visited and can't recommend highly enough.

Question: How many hours a day does the Northern California Sea Lion bark? A. 6 hours B. 8 hours C. 10 hours D. 24 hours. The answer is D. My family now knows the answer to this question after staying at the Lost Whale Inn. We heard sea lions, who congregate on the rocks visible from the Inn (you can see them with binoculars), at 1: 00 pm and at 3:32 am.....and we loved every minute of it.. We haven't heard a lot of sea lions barking in the Hudson River, so that was part of the charm. The Lost Whale Inn is probably the most magical, charming, amazing place I have every been in my life. Our room, with a view of the Pacific Ocean, was breathtaking. The bed was comfy, the robes in the bathroom were plush. The breakfast that is included was nothing short of spectacular. The highlights of some of our favorite breakfast items were: Orange scented puff pancakes with fresh raspberry sauce Cinnamon rolls made with puff pastry Scones with a thumbprint of jam Steel cut oatmeal with chai spice, cinnamon & caramelized pears Blackberry cobbler Frittata with jalapenos and fresh peppers Rosemary leek potatoes We had 3 breakfasts at the Lost Whale and they were all incredible. They happily wrap up and encourage you to ask for leftovers.....----we enjoyed cinnamon rolls on a hike later in the day. They also serve afternoon tea: homemade breads/muffins..........smoked salmon & crackers. One day our inn keeper insisted we take some pears that he had just picked from a friend's tree. There is a small refrigerator on the first floor off the dining room that guests can help themselves to soda and wine. If you are lucky, you may even hear one of the inn keepers playing Mozart on the piano located in the dining room. Lost Whale is only a 20 minute drive from Praire Creek Park. At night we would sit by the campfire, roast marshmallows and talk to the other guests at the Inn; who all happened to be from Northern California. Being from the East Coast, this was our first trip to Cali...............all I have to say is.......I can see why everyone out here is risking their life with that San Andreas fault. Beautiful part of the United States with great people. I was considering doing my 200th review on an East Coast gem close to home, but Lost Whale is just so remarkable and deserving of the milestone.

THIS IS PLACE IS AMAZING!!!! JUST AMAZING!!! the perfect hidden gem. My husband and I were looking for a place to spend a night or two on our drive to see my inlaws for the holidays. i found this beautiful BnB, and am beyong drateful I did. first this place is righ on the coast. you cannot find a place with more breathtaking view then this place. it was very close to the Redwood forest, A major plus!!!. the BnB is a miz of country farm house meets california coast. it was very relaxing. we could hear the ocean from our room. We had the humpback room, it was their smallest room but it sure did deliver. it was perfect with a very plush full/queen size bed. the room had a skyligh that lets in amazing light. you can hear the sea lions in the morning which is a sight to see right from their deck. mind you i am barely grazzing on the decor truelly the place in beautiful. I havent touched on the staff yet.... the staff there... they are so nice, and genuine. the sweetes people ever... serously. they are not just being hispitable because your staying at their BnB, they genuinely are the nicest people we have encountered within a BnB we have been to a number of them in many different countries ( yelp needs like a europe edition) and they are just so nice. they are attentive and work to make sure you are coomfortable and have everything you need. they are a great help when it comes to exploring the REdwoods... they have maps and tons of knowledge. the owner is the sweetest lady around... now onto the food.... the food is that of a 5 star restaurant, seriously first night there we had fillet minion with steam asparagus a mixed green salad with cranberries, blue cheese crumble and caramel covered pecans... delish!!!!!!!! they have a mini bar in the great room with locally brewed beers and other libations in the evening around 430 they have snacks out.. home made clam chowder, crackers, locally made cheese. it took us eight hours to get there but i would galdly take a trip back to californina just for lost whales inn!!!!

We are so happy we found The Lost Whale Inn! Tucked away off the main road and perched high above the ocean, it is a secret gem of a hideaway! My husband and I delighted in the gorgeous ocean views from our Adirondack chairs in the Inn's lush gardens. We stayed two nights: the first night in the small but adorable Humpback Whale Room on the Inn's second floor and the second night in the more spacious ground floor Sea Lion Room with a stunning view of the ocean. The Sea Lion Room shares a large, lovely living room with the other ground floor bedroom and of course also has easy access to the Inn's other very pleasant common areas, inside and out. Mel and Whitney, who were both on deck throughout our stay, did their utmost to ensure we were comfortable and well-fed:) Breakfast was an absolutely delicious and over the top buffet prepared by Mel; during our stay, we enjoyed her banana bread, stuffed French toast, peach crisp, frittatas and bacon as well as cold options such as yogurt and granola. In the evenings, we were offered (complimentary) wine and a beautiful and scrumptious cheese and fruit plate. Mel and Whitney were always friendly and gracious but never intrusive and also always happy to offer suggestions on hikes and other things to do in the area. The Lost Whale Inn is to be treasured!

A stunning Bed and Breakfast nestled in the redwoods and overlooking the ocean. It's a small family run inn where you can really relax. They have an amazing path down to the beach. (see pictures) Each room has a cozy feel and a different theme. I think they have spa treatments now too. My grandmother built and owned the inn for years and now it is run/owned by her good friends. If you're ever heading up (or down) the coast, I would highly recommend the Lost Whale Inn.

I just got married here. Let me say in just a few words how it was. Epic. Every sense of the word. Their planners and staff are amazing!!! I feel honored to have been married at such a beautiful place!! My wedding party and myself stayed at the inn the night before and the night of, and it was so accommodating. Everyone couldn't stop talking about how beautiful it was there. I am forever grateful for what you guys pulled off for my wedding. From the food to the flowers I you did every little thing and made every detail perfect We will be back on our anniversary for many years to come!!!

Spent three incredible nights at The Lost Whale Inn.! It does not get any better than this. The ocean with the enchanted Forest was magical but even better was is the hospitality and sensational breakfast and dinners served fit for a King and Queen! Cant wait to get Lost here again

This place was the answer to our prayer for sweet together time before deployment. We had a beautiful baby moon in breathtaking Trinidad. Where to start... :) 1. Sarah and Staff (Georgia, Michelle, Brian and all) are gracious, accommodating, humble and talented. They take pride in making this Inn shine. We felt like honored guests. 2. The grounds are very well kept. The stunning sweep of Ocean falling 200ft below is gorgeous. You will hear the crash of waves and sound of sea lions. The flower garden is colorful and inviting. 3. The rooms were very comfortable. 4. Smore's every night! Amazing 4-6pm Hors'Doeuvre (cheese, fruit, olives, cookies, beer, wine or juice). 5. Breakfast is a category of wonderful all it's own. They even have their own cookbook filled with recipes about Plum Pie, Southwestern Frittata, Banana Pancakes etc. ...yogurt, fresh fruit, great coffee and tea, bacon, sausage, muffins, apple Danish and more. 6. The Redwoods and Oregon Coast are so near. We saw Elk sparring at a nearby preserve right off the 101 in the Bay took 25 minutes to get to the Lady Bird Johnson Redwood Grove. We stayed three days. And our sentiment was something like, "we don't want to leave this 'Rivendell' mixed with 'God, you must have handpicked this place for us." We felt undeserving. My only hesitation reviewing the Lost Whale Inn is that too many people will find it...but we want you to experience it, and the brilliant, loving staff who keep it too.

What a lovely place. We woke each morning to the sunshine breaking through the trees as the sounds of the ocean and the sea lions gently called. Breakfast was absolutely delicious. They were careful to cater to dietary restrictions. They made everyone feel welcome and important. We had dogs and they were lovely about giving us tips on where we could take them. They couldn't have been more wonderful. The late afternoon wine and hors d'oeuvres was a lovely touch. It was a wonderful way to end the day and meet our fellow sojourners. We sat by the fire and toasted marshmallows. We walked the beautiful paths of the property. Not a single detail was missed!! We met many couples that return here each year. I can absolutely see why. We too will be returning!! It was picture perfect.

First of all, I have only written about 2 reviews in my entire life, so for me to be writing this tells you that the experience was far beyond my expectations! My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful bed & breakfast a few days ago (the end of March 2023) on our way to The Redwood National Forest. The host was welcoming, had a charcuterie board waiting for us with dietary preferences, and upgraded us to an ocean view room for free since one was still available. There were free waters, sodas, juices, beer, and wine in the main living quarters while soft music played. My husband and I enjoyed the in-deck hot tub while looking at the bay and worked our way inside to sit by the fire with freshly made cookies. Later in the evening the host provided s'mores for roasting at the outdoor fire pit despite the rain and wind. In our guest room, the couch and bed were both facing the window towards the ocean as we enjoyed the views and caught up on some work on the free, high-speed wifi. The bedding was dreamy, soft, and thick to keep us snuggled in during the rainy night. In the morning we enjoyed breakfast at preset tables with many homemade pastry items, an egg souffle, fruit, bacon, coffee, tea, and the best fresh squeezed orange juice that I have ever had. Throughout the entire experience when we would visit the main living quarters, the host would ask how we were doing and if we needed anything. During breakfast the staff catered to your table, asked if you needed anything, and cleared the table. The Inn itself is stunning with lovely coastal decorations, clean, and feels like a home-away-from-home while providing both privacy and a chance to mingle with other guests if you so choose. We didn't get any photos because we were having too much fun :) We wish that we would have stayed for several more days! I would give The Lost Whale Inn 10/5 stars if I could.
