Situated in the Guatemalan jungle, this archeological site features an extensive urban system of architecture and infrastructure. The sheer size is humbling and you can easily spend the whole day here. Along the way you may encounter some tropical wildlife which was a nice surprise as well.

On this pyramid you can have the view above the trees on the whole archeological Maya site. Come early to avoid the masses

Definitely must visit. And recommend the sunrise tour where you can experience the jungle “waking up” as the sun rises while you sit on top of the highest pyramid (it was quite foggy and this is apparently pretty common, but it was still worth it). The guides are knowledgeable and shared lots of info about the history of the site and the mayans who built it. These ancient world sites are fascinating.

The Lost World, or Mundo Perdido in Spanish, is one of the outlying temple complexes at Tikal Archaeological Park. The main sight is a 30-metre high ruined temple with spectacular views across the jungle. A wooden staircase ascends to the top and we saw toucans and spider monkeys in the canopy.

These pictures were taken from the Great Pyramid at the Lost World. It is the best place for Sunset because you have a 360 degree view and the other temples look very close to you. To stay for the sunset, make suee you have paid the extra Q100 and have the corre t color bracelet. I also recommend that to enjoy best the sunset, Silence is the best way to wait for it.

Probably one of the most interesting sights of Central America. Maya pyramids. Be sure to have an appropriate guide. And luck. On the way home we were blocked by some people who decided tourists were to blame because they didn’t have running water. The restaurant is decent, beer is fresh. Be hydrated as you’ll sweat your brain out.
