We have recently returned from our trip to Bali and our stay at the Lovina.
From the second we arrived our stay was perfect. The staff, the grounds, the food and bar, the setting and the villa were all incredible. We stayed for six nights and we were so sad to leave.
When we asked our 15 and 17 year old what their favourite part of the trip was - they said “the people”. In particular the staff at the Lovina - Febby, Boy, Gede, Yoga, Eka, Carik, Vina, Dody and David to name a few!
This was our first time visiting Bali and we highly recommend visiting the north part of Bali to experience another side of the island. Here are our top three things we did:
1) We took a day trip to Menjangan Island where we snorkelled in one of the most amazing spots. We were even lucky to see 5 turtles!
2) We hired a driver from the Lovina who took us to Sekumpul and Fiji Waterfalls. Although this is an hour and a half walk it was through beautiful rice fields and we had a blast sliding down a natural water slide. These waterfalls are spectacular and not to be missed. The walk up and down is hard going so be prepared to walk but it is worth it. For your instagram obsessed teens the guides on the walk will snap a ton of photos for them!
3) While my daughter and I relaxed in the spa and ordered a floating breakfast from the resort, my husband and son went fishing. On the trip they caught two Mahi-Mahi and one barracuda. The restaurant prepared the fish and that evening we ate like kings and queens with an amazing meal.
While our package at the Lovina did include the dolphin viewing, which we did do, we found the boats more fascinating to watch than the actual dolphins. Be prepared to have 50 to a 100 boats all chasing the dolphins around. Later we met someone who had snorkelled with the dolphins (holding on to the rail on the boat) and they showed us their Go-pro videos. Had we done the trip again we would have definitely done this option as their videos were incredible. In saying that we still enjoyed the beautiful sunrise and the somewhat comical scene of all of the boats.
While it may feel like a mission to get to the north part of Bali, the drive is beautiful and there is a quieter, easier feel to this part of the island. The lush landscape and rice fields are magical and while there is no surf there are a ton of other things to do that make Bali special.
Thank you The Lovina for making our time incredibly specials most of all thank you to your wonderful staff who took the time to talk to us and teach us about Bali and your beautiful culture. We are already trying to figure out how to return again one day!
