We’ve had many visits to this lovely hotel. |All rooms were immaculate and very comfortable, they are all a good size.|Parking is available for a fee.|The breakfast is exceptional, with so much choice, there is a hot & cold buffet, and a menu that can be ordered from. |The customer service in this hotel is second to none. One staff member in particular who stands out is a gentleman called Denilson, he’s served us breakfast many times. He remembers & greets every customer, with a warm welcome. |This is our go to hotel for Manchester.

Wanted somewhere to stay in Manchester for my husbands 75th birthday. So glad we chose The Lowry Hotel. From arriving and parking the car in the hotel car park everything was first class. The staff were friendly, helpful and professional. Our room looked out over the river with amazing views of the city. Breakfast was very enjoyable on both mornings. We were only a 7min walk away from the Theatre and the city centre. Hope to visit again soon. Thank you to all the staff especially Eric, Mo and Sharon for looking after us so well.

The Lowry is a 5 star hotel under the auspices of Millenium Hotels.||A 5 star hotel is typically defined by ‘exceptional service, luxurious amenities, and meticulous attention to detail, exceeding the standards of lower-rated hotels. This includes high-quality, personalised service, luxurious accommodations, and a wide range of extra facilities and amenities.’ ||Location|Just over the pedestrian bridge from the shops and restaurants of central Manchester, although the immediate area in front of the hotel is none too salubrious. Since we were last here, high-rise flats have risen on three sides of the hotel. ||Parking|The hotel provides convenient and safe, covered parking across immediately in front of the hotel, at a cost of £24 per car per night. ||Check in and out|The hotel’s doormen provide good, friendly service and will help guests with their luggage.|Check-in was friendly and welcoming; check-out was efficient but lacked the ‘how was your stay sir/madam’ phrase which is usually expected in a 5 star hotel. (Perhaps they knew something.)||Our room (Executive king)|This room was 35m2 and was well laid-out. There was ample seating and clothes storage areas; the bathroom was modern and contained Karl Lagerfeld toiletries. It was clean and nicely appointed.||Restaurant|We had breakfast on both mornings and this fell way short of what we would expect from a 5 star hotel. (We have been fortunate to stay in a number of these over the years.)||The quality of the food in the buffet was disappointing and the full-English constituent parts were luke-warm at best. The whole experience was a miserable affair and an example of breakfast run by staff at their own pace and standard, with only a meagre attempt at ensuring the best possible experience for guests. Our worst ever breakfast experience in a 5 star hotel!||Bar|This area was generally uninspiring and low-key, although the service from the female bar tender was absolutely fine. ||We spent a total of £1600 at this hotel over two nights – taking two rooms, with breakfast and parking. It was rather depressing to experience what Manchester’s iconic Lowry hotel has become. We shall not return, due to the hotel lacking in many of the expectations that we would expect from a 5 star hotel. It felt very much like a hotel run by accountants.

I have stayed here before and found the bedrooms to be airy and well appointed and very comfortable.||My latest visit was no exception. The one problem area was breakfast.||I booked a full English breakfast at a discounted rate at check in. Unfortunately I was met at breakfast by the waiter telling me that " due to small numbers this morning there is no cooked full English breakfast option"||So I chose eggs florentine. This fully arrived following on from my two weetabix. It was bad. The muffin tasted days old and like thick cardboard. The waiter offered me another choice but why risk another dodgy attempt by the "chef"||I complained to reception who only charged me for a continental breakfast. ||The problem I have with this hotel is the food. I have stayed here a number of times and have never been satisfied with their breakfasts.||Hotel great. Rooms great. Staff great. ||In my opinion don't try the food.

I had a fantastic stay at The Lowry Hotel and truly enjoyed my time in Manchester. The spa was an absolute highlight — just what I needed in the middle of my UK trip. It was such a lovely and relaxing experience.||Beyond the spa, all the staff at The Lowry were incredibly welcoming and went above and beyond to make my stay as pleasant as possible. Their friendly and attentive service made me feel right at home. Special thanks to Aspa for being incredibly kind and helpful.||Manchester itself was a joy to explore, and The Lowry provided the perfect, comfortable base throughout my trip. I can’t wait to return!

The Lowry Hotel claims to be a 5-star establishment, but unfortunately, my experience didn’t reflect that level of luxury. While the customer service was good, the overall stay felt more like a budget hotel, with many missing amenities that one would expect from a true 5-star experience. First, the room lacked basic essentials such as disposable toothbrushes, a comb, and even a pen. The fridge was locked, meaning there was no place to store personal items, which was quite inconvenient. All toiletries were bolted to the wall, giving it more of a Premier Inn feel rather than a high-end hotel. Additionally, there were no complimentary teas or biscuits, which are small but expected touches in a premium hotel. The overall facilities were disappointing—there was no proper seating area in the reception or any communal space to relax before check-in or after check-out. It felt unwelcoming and impractical for guests arriving early or waiting for transport. Breakfast was another letdown. The buffet spread was extremely small and basic, and they kept running out of plates, which was quite embarrassing for a hotel of this supposed caliber. Overall, while the staff were polite and helpful, everything needed to be requested rather than being readily available. For a hotel that brands itself as 5-star, it falls far short of expectations and feels more like a budget hotel with decent service. I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re looking for a true luxury experience in Manchester.

Google
I was so incredibly disappointed on arrival to discover that this is a 'dry spa'. I feel this could be made clearer on the website especially when the a 'spa' is listed in the hotel amenities. On a positive note the staff were exceptional, particularly the bar and restaurant. The room looked beautiful, I did find the bed far too soft for me personally and the shower water pressure left to be desired. My main issue was the air con which was very loud (and I'm partially deaf), and there were no opening windows so options to control temperature were limited. I was really disappointed with my stay, to the point that I left in the morning without waiting for my massage appointment.

The hotel is gorgeous, and the staff go above and beyond to help. I felt so welcomed. I couldn’t have wished for a better stay! The bed was extremely comfortable, which made my experience even more enjoyable.

Yelp
I start with an admission - it was not my idea to visit this hotel, Mrs G sought it out and opined that it was a the best hotel in Manchester. I was less keen because it was approaching London prices in Manchester where there are good hotels for substantially lower cost. But it was for one night and by booking a way ahead the prices wasn't too outrageous. However the package with prepaid car parking (an extra GBP40 or $50+) seemed absurd so I figured that I would park nearby for less. All my nightmares seemed to come true as we drove up late that evening (about 10pm) long after dark up some back alley into the hotel and parking structure. Why were we arriving so late? Because we called up at 1pm to reserve a table at their restaurant (the River) and found they could not (would not) accommodate us even as I explained that we were guests. I would have cancelled right then and there but I had prepaid so ....... One more negative strike was the off-hand way we were dealt with over the phone and "greeted" when we checked in (i.e. NO greeting, really manager - please train your staff in the basic skills of hospitality!!) It all ended up very different. The room itself, the bed, the bathroom were all 5 star. The location of the hotel was better than I had expected - right on the river and a short walk over the bridge and you were in the center of things. I still predict that you will be more than disappointed as you arrive at the front of the hotel - but once you are inside, you are embraced by the refinement indoors, by a couple of the staff, and by the spaciousness. How good was it? I called the front desk and booked for a second night, requesting the same room, and was lucky to get it at the standard rate of GBP198. Will we be back - yes please. Never done this before - so it MUST be good! However I just hope the manager reads this review and acts on the training of his frontline staff! How about the restaurant - what a disappointment - but that is a separate review... Two thumbs up! Review #105 2019

Yelp
Poor service with a side of gas lighting. My biggest issue with this place was that the minibar restocker moved something off the mini bar in my room and somehow it was on my bill. I went to complain half way through my stay and they told me it must have been me because it's on a pressure sensor. Made me feel that I was either been scammed by the hotel or that someone else had access to my room, maybe a previous guest. Both are not good and made me feel very uncomfortable in the hotel. I couldn't get service at the hotel bar for some reason too. I went in for a quick drink before meeting a friend and waited for 20 minutes without service. I then tried to order at the bar and was told it's table service only. Weird. Was I dressed in flip flops without a shirt you might ask? No, chinos with a button down shirt. I also wasn't told about the breakfast arrangements at check in so left the hotel each morning for breakfast. On top of that the "king bed" was 2 thin mattresses pushed together with scratchy sheets. It's a little inconvenient in terms of location so it has to be very good to justify that extra walk. This place fell massively short. Would not stay here again.

Yelp
Definitely a good hotel. I used just about every amenity and facility here during my six day stay. The ladies at the spa were very nice and I had a good massage. The spa has a modern setup with clean facilities. I definitely recommend the bar and the gym. The restaurant is good when comparing it to other (English...) restaurants. I would stay here again.

Yelp
After our excellent dinner with paired cocktails Yelp Elite event earlier in 2015, we finally returned - champagne voucher in hand! Despite some miscommunication when we tried to call up and book, as it said on the voucher, as soon as we mentioned Yelp they were welcoming us with open arms. You cannot book for the bar area, but we were quickly escorted to a table for two with the champagne soon following. The champagne itself was delicious and went down very well, accompanied by some candied nuts and crisps. We were checked on frequently, with our glasses being topped up as soon as they reached the halfway point. Not wanting the luxury to end quite yet, we also ordered two cocktails - a passion fruit margarita and a 'Caught in the Honey Pot'. At £14 and £10 respectively, this isn't a cheap option, but it was nice to live the high life for an hour or so... A 'special occasion' kind of place which will always provide that little something extra.

Yelp
Amazing hotel. Stayed here for a couple of nights. Check in was seemless and Bellman was fantastic. Rooms are spacious and really cool. Water is set down on bedside tables at night and bed turned down. Very comfy bed and quiet room. The bar is really good and wait staff super friendly. Good selection of wine and also good afternoon tea. Pricey hotel but well worth it. Great location close to the centre of everything.

Yelp
Now ive never stayed here, i only live 10 minutes away, but have often visited the bar upstairs. There is a great selection of wine, beer and cocktails and the food is expensive but some of the best Ive ever eaten. The staff always make you feel welcome and really go out of their way for you. Budget wise, im much more a travellodge type of girl than the Lowry and I admit to being a bit self conscious the first time I headed here for a drink. The staff have always been wonderful though and never made me feel like I didn't belong even though 2 tables away there may be rockstars or sports stars passing though on a world tour and such. It is nice to treat yourself once in while and when I do, I always head over to this bar and spend a good couple of hours sipping cocktails and people watching.

Yelp
I rushed back to the Lowry Hotel after our Yelp elite event there because I think it's such a nice place for a drink. Sadly the terrace is on the wrong side for sun in the evening but it's still nice to sit there. I ordered the same cocktail we had at the elite event which apparently was a passionfruit margarita, it seemed sweeter this time than at the event when the tequila really had bite but it was still very nice. HOWEVER it was also £14 which is outrageous when I could get a better cocktail for half the price at the Fitzgerald. Service started off extremely attentive and then we were left alone for a really long time which was a shame because by the time we managed to pay the bill it was too late to get food anywhere! Still, this is a very nice bar for a quiet drink when you want to chat rather than get shoved and shout at people!

Yelp
Such a disappointment. I don't know how much the room cost as we were being entertained. We had high hopes for The Lowry, 5 star hotel were football stars & celebrities stay, but unfortunately hopes were dashed as soon as we arrived. Pulled up at the front of the hotel and the door men just looked at us, carried our own bags up the stairs and was met by an undertrained member of the reception team who had no clue about customer service. Went to our 5 star room and immediately noticed the stained carpet, chipped work tops, basic travel lodge style bathroom and the dirty curtains. Had we not been hosted and attending an event we would have walked. We went to the bar to meet the rest of our party and it took 25 minutes and three visits to the bar to get drinks, it took 1 hour 15 minutes to get the food we ordered and when it arrived 2 of our party never received food. We returned from our function and had to run the gauntlet again to get a drink. Breakfast was shambolic and the buffet poor beyond belief. No granola, no yoghurt, no bacon, no beans, had to ask for toast, no offer of refilling tea or coffee, milk jug empty and dirty cutlery. To put this property in context with other 5 stars we had stayed the previous night at Dakota Hotel. Dakota was nothing short of sensational and I cannot believe that The Lowry can compete with Dakota. Missed opportunity for the Lowry, the group we were with were very wealthy, spend a lot of time in Manchester and like luxury properties. The owner of the company entertaining us was embarrassed and said he would never stay there again.

Yelp
Fantastic luxury hotel with canal views. I would return to the Lowry again but I never get the opportunity as it is quite far from thecity centre so I would rarely need or want to stay. Rooms here can cost upwards of £170 but I would say that they are worth every panny. Big spacious rooms, lovely big beds and great bathrooms. Would also like to comment on how excellent the staff are here, they will go out of their way to make your stay as relaxing and enjoyable as possible. Would definitely recommend this hotel if you need to stay in Salford area and want a something a cut above the rest.

Yelp
I have stayed at the Lowry a few times now, and each time the experience rates highly... and I would certainly say it is the most luxurious Hotel I have ever stayed in. It is positioned well to give visitors to the city a breathtaking image of Manchester's industrial past, the River Irwell passes right next to the Hotel and from the rooms that look over the city you can see the traditional red brick warehouses and arches, that impress onto the mind the scenes L.S. Lowry is famous for painting! It does not take much imagination then to understand why this hotel is thus named The Lowry! The building itself is so light and spacious that you feel like you are in a modern gallery too, I always feel very peaceful when staying here. The areas designed for guests to share are cutting edge, yet oddly homely and comfortable - a hard balance to strike. The hotel offers five star services like its Riverside Restaurant where the food is quite pricey in an addition to the £130 best available room rate, and you can expect to spend £25 on average for a main. There certainly are many more restaurants you can catch a taxi to in the city that offer the same quality food for less. The Spa is top quality, I treated myself to a full body massage the last time I stayed... and that floaty feeling you get after a good one lasted for the whole day, a sign of well trained staff in my book. the environment of the Spa is very relaxed and you do get what you pay for! A 5 star Hotel that fulfils its rating. The most important thing that makes your stay worth every penny is the staff, They are more than helpful and execute either the simplest or most difficult request with speed, experience and attentive personal care!

Yelp
Not the cheapest around in Manchester for Afternoon Tea but definitely one of the best if quality of food and service is what you are after. Nothing is ever too much trouble, the sandwiches (and pots of tea) are quickly replenished and you are not rushed to finish so that they can seat new people. You get on average 4 different types of sandwich filling, 5 cakes and 2 scones (1 fruit & 1 plain) and I have yet to visit and be able to finish everything. A standard afternoon tea would set you back £22pp and for Champagne it is £33pp so there are many places in Manchester which are cheaper, but for a special occasion or treat I would really recommend here.

Yelp
If I could give this hotel 6 stars, I would. I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. I stayed here last weekend whilst going to a Manchester United football game. The first incline I had to realise that I was somewhere pretty special was checking in next to Aemon Holms, Phillip Schofield and Andy Peters. If they stay here, then so can I. imagine my surprise when I then was in the elevator with Christopher Biggins and Alex Ferguson. Yeah, Alex Ferguson. I was then told that the entire Manchester United football team were staying there. This doesn't mean much to me, but my brothers were positively giddy. They said something about Vidic and Nani being in the room next to them. The reception area is really nice and modern, and the rooms are simply amazing. I had a room to myself, complete with yellow chaise-longue, walk-in wardrobe and a bed bigger than the bathroom. The staff were the friendliest i've ever encountered in my life. They were genuinely interested in me and made an effort to look after me. When my brothers went to phone their girlfriends, one of the waitresses came over with a martini glass of strawberries and kept me company till they came back. You can't buy that sort of service! I've never felt so welcomed and wanted in my life! I later found out that the Manchester United football team always stay here before a home game, so if you're into football then make sure you're at the Lowry at 10am on a match-day. I'll be the one squealing in the background.

Yelp
I do not like the fact that they gave a hard time to David Icke who was a guest there and who was a guest speaker at the Lowry! David Icke is world known and this supposedly nice hotel did not treat him well. I think they denied him a room because protesters do not agree with the subject of his talks which by the way is fascinating!

Yelp
I came her for a spa day, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Delicious lunch, prosecco, back massage and pedicure...who doesn't love a bit of pampering? The only thing missing for me was a pool/hot tub area, and the relaxation room could be less bright.

Yelp
The Lowry hotel's proximity to the MEN make it a haunt for celebrities - Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez have both stayed there so you could indulge in a bit of celeb spotting. It's luxurious but you do feel quite isolated for visiting the city centre and shopping - more psychological than anything though as it is close to the main city. This can also be seen as very private and an escape from the hustle and bustle rather than excluded from the rest of Manchester. It is incredibly spacious and the rooms are white, clean and modern. There's a crispness about the decor which keeps it feeling fresh and new. The staff were excellent, I'd agree with Alexandra and very helpful. The whole stay was really enjoyable and luxurious. It has a reputation of being one of the best in Manchester and I wouldn't disagree.

Bob S.

Yelp
Terrible organization and a slow and not very well trained staff. Especially their front desk staff. Quite disappointing considering the price point of the hotel. Management should seriously make some changes and bring this hotel back to the level of other 5 star hotels because currently they're way below that, a mediocre 2 star hotel at best.

Yelp
Too cold, too contemperary, not enough pizzaz, its the only 5 star hotel in Salford. not Manchester, as it likes to brand itself. Menu for food is out of this world, quite pricey, but I guess you get what you pay for. Very high turnover of staff and it shows in their lack of professionalism. Try the New Hilton instead if you want special or the Princess On Portland to be in the centre of it all

Rebecca B.

Yelp
The Lowry Hotel is by far one of the best hotels in Manchester, not only to stay in but for drinking and dining as well. The hotel itself is beautifully laid out with fine decor and a serene atmosphere. there are some lovely paintings as you walk in and the reception staff are friendly and accommodating. The rooms are spacious and luxurious, even the basic rooms make you feel pampered. There is a great bar on the first floor which sells good wines, beers and great cocktails. It is over priced like most hotels but there is an exciting buzz in the place which is worth paying for. The restaurant, however, is the best part of the Lowry. There is a fine range of dishes (the fish is really special) and absolutely superb service. The waiting staff are impeccable due to the tight ship the house manager runs, which makes for fast, polite and courteous dining every time. If you are visiting Manchester and have cash to splash I'd recommend The Lowry over any other high-end hotels on offer.

Yelp
The Lowry is a great choice for a hotel in Manchester - conveniently located near City Center and Spinning Fields, the rooms are ample and very comfortable/clean, nice decor and ambiance throughout, and very nice views, but most importantly I can't say enough about the service here, the staff is beyond friendly and attentive. My only complaint is they didn't have a real iron/ironing board in my room, but then again when I called down for one someone showed-up in literally about 2 minutes. Oh yeah, very reasonably priced too, what more can you ask for?!
