I booked this, it sounded great, check-in was fine, and we had a nice drink at the bar. We went out to eat at a nearby restaurant and went to bed around 11.||Unfortunately, we had a very poor night’s sleep due to significant noise from the neighbouring room. The occupants were talking loudly between approximately 12:30am and 3:10 am and were also spending time on the balcony directly next to our bedroom window, making it impossible for us to rest.||During this time, I went down to reception to seek assistance but found it unmanned and a sign stating a $50 call-out charge. While in our corridor, I also encountered a woman who appeared lost and did not seem to have a room to go to, as well as a man who had clearly had too much to drink, entering the building. This made us feel more uncomfortable and unsafe.||As a result of both the disturbance and the lack of any staff presence on site overnight, we were unable to get any more sleep and felt uneasy for the remainder of our stay.||I completed a contact form on their website the following day, but received no reply. I emailed a few days later and explained what happened, and my recommendation that they have a person at reception at night. (The hotel door is locked and only accessible by residents, but that does not prevent "guests" from other residents and tailgaters.||They offered us a free night's stay and dinner in the future. As we are not from Australia, we have had to decline. They said we could offer it to any local friends or family, but we have declined, as we cannot recommend staying there. At this point, the Lucky have not responded to our refund request for more than 10 days.||I am sure there are lots of other good places to stay in Newcastle.
