We stayed at The Lucky Hotel for two nights and really enjoyed it. The rooms are located above a busy pub with live music and DJs at the weekend, but ours was very well soundproofed so we didn’t hear a thing. The room itself was comfortable, though it did have a slightly foosty smell. We ate in the bar one evening — the food was simple but tasty and good value. The drinks selection was fine, but it would be nice to see a few more bottled beers, especially some continental options like Stella Artois or Heineken. We actually went to a nearby bar for a bit more choice. Overall, a comfortable and convenient place to stay — good atmosphere, friendly vibe and solid value for money. Four stars from us.

Google
5 stars, I booked a night at the lucky hotel on a Thursday night through booking.com on a whim that I liked the decor and it was quite affordable for a stop over. I was pleasantly surprised to the extent that they go with this decor design. Nicely themed rooms that stick with the design of the whole hotel, renovated and clean with a large comfy king bed perfect for a stop over while travelling to get a good sleep and regenerate. The pub located downstairs is very convenient and had a menu of modern pub food and a selection of cocktails and drinks that are extensive. The staff were very helpful and attentive to patrons and seemed happy to be at work. Outside of the lucky hotel seemed to be lots of things to see and do so even for location I was impressed. I can see how on a Saturday night it would probably get loud in the rooms overlooking the main pub but they do state that could possibly be the case although they’ve taken measures to try soundproof the rooms. Overall would definitely come stay again!

We had a group of 16 for the bottomless brunch. From the booking process to the last drinks everything was perfect. Outstanding service both over the phone and on the day. We felt very well looked after and your staff are all amazing. The food was absolutely delicious.the drink service was fantastic. This was my first time and it exceeded my expectations. It won't be my last. Everyone in our group was very very happy. Food outstanding and plentiful. Service was incredible. When looking for value for money not only is this experience about the food and the drinks it's about how attentive your staff were and they were amazing. The table setting was beautiful. The ambiance was so relaxing. The whole idea is to sit and enjoy time with your group and we didn't have to do a thing. Love your work guys x

We recently hosted a networking event at The Lucky Hotel and were very impressed with the experience. The staff were professional, attentive, and proactive throughout the evening, ensuring everything ran seamlessly. The food was excellent, and the cocktails were outstanding. A great venue for corporate functions, networking events and parties— highly recommended.

Stopped in for lunch. Was very accommodating to persons with disabilities and was wheelchair friendly. Came as lunch opened and the area was very quiet and peaceful. Staff were all so kind and happy to help. Dining area was absolutely beautiful and very rustic and comfortable. $20 lunch special was very generous and the schnitzel was beautiful.

Came for lunch with friends, drawn by "kids eat free" deal. Was terrific, charming venue, meals were generous and delicious, only reason I didn't give 5 stars for service was that one lady was brought the wrong meal. This was quickly rectified, but we felt awkward to start without her. We had a lovely experience and will definitely return.

Paid $37 for a hard solo and a schooner of old. The hard solo I know was $14. So I paid $23 for a schooner of old? I asked about the cost, but apparently it was right. Can easily get 2 x pints of old anywhere else for that price. I would be quite happy to never go here again.

The pub is very nice, many draft beers, good food. Unfortunately, the room (queen, rather small one) we got, was with not working air-conditioning, which destroyed our stay. a mobile aircon device, proposed as a"solution", did a lot of noice and did not cool the room. The hotel should not sell rooms with issues, unless fixed.

Yelp
Can't say much about the hotel because I didn't stay here but I love the bar and courtyard area! It is too cute. Great ambiance and great drink selections. Perfect place for small and large groups. The staff were friendly and had great service. Of all beers on tap that had Coors, which is hard to come by in Australia, so of course I went with Coors. My friend got a local beer that was quite tasty. Didn't try any of the food but it looked good, would like to go back on a weekend. Seems like a fun bar. Drinks and Outside area were the highlights for me.

Yelp
Darn tasty. We searched around town for lunch and landed here and were quite happy with our choice. It was a Tuesday afternoon and a bit warm out, and the atrium was too steamy for us so we opted for a table in the bar area. There were a couple of containers with fruit infused self serve water, so we went over to the window to order our food and awaited its arrival. The entrees came out and they were excellent. I got the 'award winning' brisket burger, and it was smoky, tender, and delicious! The branded top was a fun touch too. My wife opted for a mushroom quesadilla with smoked chicken. It overflowed with cheesy deliciousness and flavor and was more than she could handle. Our food came out quickly and staff were available for other needs and questions. It was a very good experience!

Yelp
This pub was pretty cool. Okay, with all of the construction going on, it was a little out of the way, but that is no doubt going to change in about a years time. Sure, it was a little dark inside when I was there, but that does tend to add to the atmosphere at times, as was the case here. In a way it was a nice, and relaxing pub with some good beers on tap, and they also had a nice, covered outdoor area as well, namely as a part of the restaurant. I found this place quite pleasant and charming.

Yelp
Great bar, super staff and good food. I got the ceviche. It was served in a tortilla bowl easy for rolling and dipping. The fish was fresh and the citrus and cilantro mix was awesome. Although this is a starter, it was plenty of food for me. I also got chips with smoke chipotle and siracha pepper dipping sauces. Both were solids and clearly communicated to the staff I was American! . The local beer selection was outstanding and the patio area is one of the most unique I've seen! Check out the pics!

Yelp
Not sure which award they won on this burger, but I found it below average. Dry, chewy, strange flavours with nothing delicious. I was impressed with their beer range, also impressed with their food menu. The Brisket Burger could improve.

Yelp
If I had to rate this place on venue alone it would probably be a five. I love the look. The brick work inside, the mirrors, the wood, the drum kit chandelier. Even the ladies toilet was gorgeous as far as restrooms go. The courtyard is also very inviting. I came for lunch on a Tuesday and had The Lucky Dawg. It looked amazing but the taste didn't fit. The roll tasted a little stale and I wasn't overly impressed by the chilli beef. I don't eat pork sausages very often so that could be why it tasted odd to me.... My partner had the Fat Cat burger and was happy with it. The price of the meals $17/$18 seemed reasonable for the size but $4.50 for a coke was a bit ridiculous. The staff were quite friendly though and I really enjoyed the music and atmosphere. I'd come back again to try their dinner menu, but another taste fail will be it for me, no matter how much I love the design.

Yelp
Great hotel. Very clean and modern. Friendly staff and easy check in/out process. The bar attached is convenient and fun.

Yelp
While I'm sure I'll be back, my first experience at the Lucky was very average. The covered courtyard is beautiful and no expense seems to have been spared in the fit out...but in the lunch time I was there it was full of rude, scummy people. And I'm not being elitist here, I'm talking about business people (mostly men) talking loudly on their phones and pushing to the front of the bar lineup. Today at lunch the Lucky attracted people who think that they are more important and their time is more valuable than yours. I had a $12 Reuben sandwich and it was soggy but flavoursome. It was just a pity I couldn't wait to get out of there.

Yelp
The Lucky is a beautiful new addition or refurbishment I should say to the newcastle scene. With a sleek and contemporary fit out the courtyard eases you into a relaxed and chatty mood. The Lucky offers a variety of areas to relax and enjoy the company of small and larger groups. The food is ok, with a complicated and unique menu. The fish tacos are ill-advised, but other selections give a hearty and decent meal. Good set of cocktail jugs and wide variety of other beverages.

Yelp
If in from out of town, hot spot on a Saturday eve early. I went for the fried chicken. Great beers on tap and packed...good vibe

Yelp
Although there was no schnitty, the fired chicken went alright. Mate and I went over and had some tucker, some bloke was playing guitar, could watch the chefs through a window. All in all a good experience.

Yelp
The fit out here is fantastic. One of the best rebuilds in Newcastle I have ever seen. Staff at the bar were helpful and friendly. Pity the food didn't match this. I realise they are new but the flavour of the food was rather bland and dry. We spoke with the people beside us who were eating the steak special who said it was quite good for the price but they also said they were here the week before and what they had off the regular menu was dry and very average. Will give this place another go but even with all the hype it looks like it is going to be just another pub with cheap steak / schnitzel their forte.

Yelp
No longer take bookings for tables under 10. We waited 45 minutes for a table on a Wednesday night, but you can grab a drink at the bar. Smaller groups were seated faster. The food was worth the wait. We shared a BBQ platter plus tacos, hot dogs and burgers, and all of the meat was prepared perfectly. The ribs are just amazing. It was really well priced for the amount and quality of the food. We washed the food down with a few local beers and the choices on tap are pretty good. The ambience out in the atrium is perfect - lots of activity and energy but the noise level is low enough to have a normal conversation. I would definitely eat here again.
