"The Ultimate Lower East Side Crash Pad When hotelier Sean MacPherson opened the Ludlow he totally nailed the unique spirit of Manhattan’s Lower East Side. The 175-room hotel is the perfect mix of gritty and stylish, cool and calm. Rooms are done up in that signature MacPherson style with unique artisan touches including handmade silk rugs, artisan—crafted Moroccan pendant lamps and Indo-Portuguese-style beds. The “and” factor amenities include bathrobes from cult Paris fashion label Maison Martin Margiela and a Rockstar suite with a 1,100-foot terrace with Williamsburg Bridge views. The lobby is always abuzz, no matter what the hour and features a rotating selection of art curated by Vito Schnable as well as an outdoor “secret” garden that’s perfect for hiding away with your laptop or a good book. Breakfast is included for guests and the warm pastry basket should not be missed. Perhaps the highlight of any stay is the fact you’re right above Dirty French, one of NYC’s buzziest restaurants. Being an elevator ride away from the complimentary herb-seasoned flatbread is reason alone to book a stay."

First, right next to the legendary Katz, what more you need?! Even though I didn’t taking pictures of hallway and lobby, this build is the most glamorous one in the 30+ rental building I saw, because it’s so high up and nothing stands higher next to the ludlow, you will have a breathtaking view at any corner, or rooftop! And my guide, she is vey nice and super beautiful, like Victoria’s Secret model jump out from the screen, and she is so patient even with broken ankle, she walked entire building with me, really appreciate! And for the room, it’s got a tons of storage space. maybe a bit of outdated on the color combo for the room and kitchen, but everything is nice any solid, not a cheap staff. The only downside that prevented me to choose the ludlow, is lack of in room laundry. If you don’t care about it, I have great news for you, they have in house laundry with SAME day drop off service!

accidentally walked into the apartment building instead of the hotel - the building manager or woman working the front desk was so rude and unkind when I asked one question confirming the location of the hotel. Told me to go outside and use my own eyes and stop bothering her.

Rooms are OK but not enough light. Air xondionter and heater are a bit loud. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

Did a tour of the apartments - by far it’s the nicest luxury building we toured in LES and you can tell it’s well maintained and managed.

The doormen are irresponsible and rude. I have never lived here nor would I, but my friend lived here for a few years. She had to deal with lost packages and a bedbug scare. Avoid it if possible!

Lounge and bar open to the public. Good option if you want to work/study in a nice environment.

Yelp
Love this boutique hotel. Rooms are VERY small but nicely appointed. The lobby and bar space are soooo nice and comfy. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Truly one of my favorite places to stay in NYC!

Yelp
I've lived here for over 3 years in a studio apartment on a lower floor. I really like it and I have no plans to move until I buy. This is a rental only building. Pros: - Really friendly staff - doormen, building manager, leasing office (on site), maintenance, etc. - Great roof deck - nice furniture, outdoor shower (not private), bathroom, tables, chairs, plants, beautiful views from the 28th (ish) floor which I believe makes it the tallest finished building in the LES - Lounge - 3rd floor lounge with pool table, patio, tvs, couches, chairs, tables, kitchen, bathroom - Package room - the doormen accept packages and hold them for you. There's a building management system that alerts you when your packages have arrived - Building Management System - BuildingLink for managing maintenance, entries, inter-building comms and listings - Concierge - he will manage your laundry, dry cleaning, package pickup (and delivery), other odd jobs - Gym - 10+ cardio machines, 2 benches, 10+ lifting machines, stretching area, yoga studio (with regular classes) - On site/On staff leasing agents - really friendly, helpful, and responsive - Dog friendly - lots of cute pups - 3 elevators - Bike Room in basement; Manhattan mini storage in basement; Edison parking in rear - Thick windows - muffle some of the LES noise - Price point - most economical luxury building in the area - Appliances - new and nice - Maintenance - very responsive - Floor to ceiling windows - Laboratorio di Gelato on the 1st floor! - LOCATION - LES! Cons: - Rent Hikes - these are annual and painful - HC/HVAC unit clanking - the AC/heating units make clanking noises all winter long when the heat turns on and off (which happens several times per hour) - Location - the neighborhood gets loud on the weekends. Mercury Lounge is adjoining and the music gets loud late at night. There's constant construction around the building - on street and adjoining buildings - Subway - makes the building rumble - 60+ days notice - this is standard for a luxury building, but it's hard when other building don't know availability until less than 30 days in advance
