The LUMA Hotel - A Member of Design Hotels

Stayed here for a night and had such a lovely time. They upgraded our rooms for free which was amazing. Staff were helpful and polite. Location was superb as well as it has cafe's and restaurants beside, airport was just 8 mins away and there is also a mall nearby ( walking distance took about 10-15 mins ) Would definitely recommend this hotel. Room ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ : Room was spacious, clean and cozy. Lighting in the toilet was amazing especially for us who wears makeup. ( lighting made it easier to put on makeup ) The mirror was big as well, and had 2 sinks! I loved how the toilet was seperated from the bath area👌🏻👌🏻 Also to add on, the shower was spacious and water was amazing and hot. Location⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ : About 8-10 mins away from the airport through grab, many restaurants and malls nearby ( walking distance ). Very convenient! Staff⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️: All of the staffs were polite, friendly and helpful throughout my time here. They even served cold towels and drinks to the guests when checking in and that was a sweet and thoughtful touch. Food ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ : Food and dining area was overall okay but there wasnt many choices available. I think the hotel can improve more on this! Also, room service isnt available, if the hotel could add this in , it would be great! In conclusion this hotel is AMAZING in terms of everything else but i wished there were more food choices during the breakfast.

Initially we booked for Emerald room but was upgraded for free to Eden Deluxe room with complimentary can drink. The room is well-designed, very cozy. The double sink & vanity mirrors are huge, the toilet & shower are separated which gives a lot of space. The hotel prepared extra shower gel & bath salt for bath tub soak. They are not stingy with towels. The coffee bar also coffee machine which not many hotels have. The bath rob are made from cotton which are very comfortable. However the breakfast choices are limited due to small restaurant they have which is still ok for me. Overall my wife and i had a great stay here. I think the room is on par with more expensive 5-star hotel.

We had the pleasure of staying at the Luma Hotel during my recent trip to Kota Kinabalu! The hotel is tastefully and modern in designed. The Rooms:Check in was quick, receptionist was friendly. The rooms are beautifully designed, spacious, and clean. The bed was comfortable, and we love the modern amenities, including a smart TV and high-speed internet, which made it easy to relax after a day of exploring. Minibars (drinks only) are included. The bathroom was also spacious with a great rain shower. The Location:The hotel is located near Imago Shopping Mall which made it super convenient to get around. City areas, where we explore the vibrant markets, enjoy local delicacy, or visit some of the area's attractions, is just a short drive away and Grab is convenient. The Team:Overall, the hotel team was excellent. Communication before our arrival was prompt and helpful, and one staff member, Judy (if I recall correctly), went above and beyond by personally guiding us to the gym. However, the restaurant service could use improvement. During breakfast, staff seemed inattentive and more focused on chatting among themselves. The egg station lacked clear organization, requiring guests to check repeatedly for their orders. At dinner, while the food was good, service felt uncoordinated—we had to ask multiple times for cutlery and plate changes. With better training and attention to detail, the restaurant experience could easily match the hotel’s otherwise high service standards.

Stayed at Luma Hotel Kota Kinabalu and overall had a pleasant experience. Here are some highlights and observations: - Room and bath area were very spacious, with a nice bathtub. - Welcome amenities were a thoughtful touch. - Room was very well maintained, though we noticed fingerprints on the mugs and coffee machine. - Coffee machine had glue stains from old stickers—could be cleaner. - Soundproofing was average; some noise from outside. - Mattress wasn’t to our liking—could be improved for better comfort. - Would be great to have a night light option in the room. - Parking is roadside, so keep that in mind. - Convenient location near the airport. - Staff were very helpful and friendly throughout our stay. Overall, a good stay with spacious rooms and great service. A few small cleanliness and comfort issues, but nothing major.

Generally exceeded our expectations. Room was clean, spacious, comfortable, and in good condition. Service, while basic, was good when it mattered. Location pretty good too, being about 10 minutes by car from the airport, easy access to the city without the congestion, and walkable to Imago Mall. There are also some decent F&B options in the same building. Couple of things that were less positive though: - Had to pay RM30/day for parking - Room had no window and no view Still a good stay on the whole.

My family and I have visited the Luma hotel 4 times already, its truly home away from home. A wonderful overall experience this December 2025, at the Luma. Good service from the front desk staff. A special thank you to Miss Ruby who checked us in with friendliness and efficiency. Miss Linda Apuk created a warm and special environment for my family and I. Finally, Mr Johnny was very helpful to assist me with parking my car and getting my luggage to our room. Great service and a positive festive spirit in this Luma Hotel.

Stayed in the Emerald Original room from 2-6 Sep. Check in was fast and efficient. Liked the overall decor, room was clean, spacious and inviting. Would prefer that the glass fluted panel between bathroom and bed head be opaque so that the bathroom light doesn't filter through. Different coloured mugs and bedroom slippers were thoughtful. Aircon louvres could adjust to swing mode, better ventilating the room. Our room faced the building opposite, separated by a small courtyard. We kept the curtains closed. No traffic noise. Using the room card to get to the room corridors from the lift lobby provided additional security. Water dispenser along corridor was convenient. We asked for firmer pillows and were able to get contoured charcoal ones. Housekeeping staff were helpful and friendly throughout. Imago shopping mall is within walking distance but we preferred Suria Sabah mall. Overall we had a pleasant stay.

First time to LUMA, but for sure not the first Design Hotel experience, so we know (unlike some reviewers) that Marriott Bonvoy benefits are limited.||Check in friendly, no upgrade proactively offered (as the only upgraded rooms are family rooms anyway), but we loved our room with a gorgeous bathtub and shower side by side, lots of space, and incredibly clean. Strangely the room lacks a window and the hotel is sort of sandwiched inside a huge apartment and office building, so it's not really a stand-alone building, feels more like an AirBnB almost. ||We had breakfast in the lobby coffee shop which is very nice but seriously overpriced. Parking is offered, but we made the mistake of parking on the back street (for free) which is actually not very safe with a shanty-town just next door- better to pay for the garage in this case. ||Aside from the limited benefits, this is a nice boutique hotel and really doesn't feel like a Marriott property at all.
