5-Star Stay at a Charming Historic Gem! Me and my husband stayed at this beautiful Victorian bed and breakfast, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. The property itself is absolutely stunning—full of historic charm with gorgeous architectural details throughout. The location is peaceful and quiet, yet conveniently close to local shops and attractions. The service was exceptional from start to finish. Every staff member was welcoming, attentive, and genuinely committed to making our stay special. The room we stayed in was spacious, beautifully decorated, and extremely comfortable—perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. Breakfast each morning was excellent, with delicious, thoughtfully prepared options that made waking up a treat. One of my favorite parts of the property was the lovely garden on site—a perfect spot to enjoy a quiet moment with coffee or tea. If you’re looking for a relaxing getaway in a beautiful and historic setting, this bed and breakfast is a perfect choice. We can’t wait to return!

We recently hosted a bridal shower at The Lumber Baron Inn and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. The home is absolutely lovely — full of historic charm and warmth that made the whole day feel so special. The food was amazing, the service was outstanding, and Sasha made everything so easy and stress-free. Thank you for helping us create such a beautiful and memorable celebration!

This is such a beautiful, historic place. We stayed here for one night to celebrate our anniversary, appropriately in the Anniversary Room. Food was amazing, but the best thing was how the whole place is like a mini immersive museum. Definitely check out the upstairs ballroom.

We are so happy to have had the honor of holding our wedding at The Lumber Baron this past summer. From the moment we visited on a hunt for a unique venue off the beaten path, it felt right. The character and history of this majestic home, settled in a quiet residential neighborhood in Denver, was exactly right for our blended Indian-Western wedding and provided an unforgettable setting for the days of events that surrounded it. Unquestionably the best part of our experience at The Lumber Baron was working with its team. Sasha, Joel, Elaine, and the rest of the dedicated staff bent over backwards to make sure that the planning process leading up to the wedding was seamless and orderly and that the day itself went off without a hitch. The team was more than willing to accommodate our specific needs and requests, and Joel went above and beyond to create custom wedding menu items that beautifully reflected the fusion of our two families and cultures. They were even gracious enough to host us and our families and close friends for both a rehearsal dinner the night before and a leave-taking brunch the morning after, so we truly took advantage of their hospitality and wonderful service! Being able to relax and savor the beautiful rooms, the delicious food, the kind and lovely people, and the gorgeous ambience of The Lumber Baron over our wedding weekend is an experience we will always be grateful to have had. The Lumber Baron will forever hold a special place in our hearts, and we look forward to returning many times in the future.

The Lumber Baron Inn & Gardens is one of the most lovely and whimsical old homes in Denver. My wife and I were married there this past June. We stayed at The Inn the night before and the night of the wedding day - with friends and wedding party - having the entire Inn to ourselves, which is a wonderful option offered to wedding parties. The owners, Joel and Elaine, are the kindest people. They worked with us around some scheduling issues that came up due to family health issues and were most gracious about it. Joel does all of the cooking at The Inn, including for the wedding ceremony, and the food is excellent! We have also visited the Inn several times for brunch and tea. This is a great way to experience the Inn if you’ve never been. Elaine is a gracious hostess and very, very sweet. Easy to work with. They both made us feel right at home at The Inn, which has an undeniable magical feeling about it. The Lumber Baron has a staff wedding planner, Sasha, who is absolutely wonderful to work with. She is well organized, ready with vendor suggestions, pricing, and has a very tidy schedule of planning meetings which will take you right up to the day of the wedding and helps to make everything as stress-free as possible. Much of the larger strokes of planning that goes into a wedding was handled by Sasha and/or The Inn itself. This allowed for us to focus on all of the details we wanted to make our wedding just right for us. The Inn is fully staffed to accommodate your event - which you can also experience on a smaller level, once again, should you visit for dining - and the staff is excellent! Quick, efficient, and very helpful! The ceremony and dinner for our wedding was held in the garden, which must be mentioned. At the end of June, in the beginning of summer, we found the garden to be just as magical as the inside of The Inn itself. The ambiance was absolutely perfect. I cannot say enough about just how perfect we felt our experience with The Lumber Baron Inn was. When we packed up to leave the morning after the ceremony - after a delicious breakfast with the rest of our guests - we left feeling a bit sad to do so. But we also left feeling as though we were part of the family at The Inn, in a way. And that is very special for us! Thank you Joel, Elaine, Sasha, and the entire staff of The Lumber Baron Inn, for making our wedding so very special.

My grandmother, aunt, cousin, and I have been going to afternoon tea for as long as I can remember (I'm 40). The building was beautiful but there were so many disappointments with the afternoon tea. The clotted cream was a runny version of sour cream, there was crust on the tea sandwiches, there were only 10 choices of tea, and the desserts were three different types of cookies. Just very, very different from our typical experiences. For anyone who does tea regularly I would say this is one to skip. This was my wife's first experience and she enjoyed it. I will say that staff and atmosphere were lovely.

We hosted our wedding ceremony, dinner, and reception at the Lumber Baron in September. The Lumber Baron really did give us a five star wedding experience. I can honestly say that my wedding day went off without a hitch, and a large part of that was the AMAZING day-of coordinator, Sasha. She really wanted to realize our version of the wedding, was patient, dedicated, and flexible. The food was delicious -- people were especially impressed with the day after brunch. The accommodations overall were very nice for our bridal party and we loved getting to stay in such a cool location. Overall, I really recommend this venue. There were times before the wedding where my now-wife and I wondered if it was going to be worth the money. Now that the day has passed, I have utter confidence that it was and don't regret the money we spent for a second.

Yelp
Excellent holiday tea with family and two young girls. Service was superb and kind. Wonderful array of fresh baked goods and sandwiches. Really enjoyed it and highly recommend!

Yelp
This review is specifically for their "high tea" where some friends and I checked out on the weekend. The building is beautiful, well kept, and in a location I would not have expected. The backyard could use some love, but we came just at the start of the warm season, so maybe they hadn't had time for a spring cleanup yet. If my review were solely for that ambiance, it would be higher. I can't say I was impressed with their tea time compared with other experiences in Denver. I did not love that they used individually bagged, store-bought tea. Part of the fun for tea time with friends is to share pots and try the same thing (especially unique blends you can't easily find elsewhere), which isn't conducive to individual bags. They also gave no recommendation on brewing time. The food highly varied. Some items were delicious (the brownie/cookie hybrid was a particular standout) but others were dry and overbaked. It was good to try a new place, but I don't think I'll return for a second round.

Yelp
A beautiful well maintained piece of architecture with a rich Colorado history and a sweet couple who owns and manages it, sums up The Lumber Baron Inn. The cute and charming inn is nestled in a neighborhood, thought the sign out front you would have know it's and Inn and event space. You can experience The Lumber Baron with monthly yoga sessions in the ballroom, stay in one of their time period kept rooms, or stop by for brunch (which is what I did). They even host weddings and other events. There are only few tables so you will need to make a reservation for brunch. You are greeted by the wait staff upon entry and captivated by the well kept historic structure. The staff provided us a book about the history. They serve coffee and tea as well as a decent size menu of brunch options. I got the quiche which was dense, filling, and the arugula and blueberry salad lightly dressed in a yogurt dressing was the perfect complement. My husband got the waffles which came out in silver dollar size but must have been delicious as he devoured them! If you want a unique brunch experience, look no further than The Lumber Baron Inn!

Yelp
A charming place for tea, The Lumber Baron Inn is a beautifully restored & decorated Victorian, with sleeping rooms upstairs. My book club celebrated our anniversary here, and we delighted with simply everything. Sandwiches, scones, crumpets, and several varieties of cookies, plus a selection of teas--$35 plus tax and tip. Only negatives are street parking, and stairs up to the front door that can be challenging for some. (The Inn can provide a ramp upon request.) We'll definitely visit again!

Yelp
We stayed here after a night at the theater. We stayed in the garden room. The room is beautiful and the bed is so comfortable. The jacuzzi tub is lovely. The room was clean and overlooked the garden; we were here in the winter, but I imagine in the summer it's gorgeous. The inn keepers are very sweet and take wonderful care of the place, and were charming. The food was good overall, cooked with care and served in a lovely dining room. The inn is close to the downtown area and very convenient, but in a nice quiet area.

Yelp
Celebrated my sister's birthday here and we couldn't have been more delighted with our Afternoon Tea experience. The tea selection was fantastic, and the pastries and sandwiches were absolutely delicious. Served all on fine China it truly felt like a special and fancy treat. The Inn itself is breathtaking, inside and out - and the service was just excellent. I hope to visit again soon.

Yelp
This was such a wonderful place to have afternoon tea. My husband and I love to do afternoon tea for our valentines' date. This was located in a super cool old building. Service was good. We enjoyed the teas (they are Harney and Sons), and the treats that were served were pretty good. I would go again.

Yelp
For my daughter's 43rd birthday I treated her and myself to afternoon tea here at the Lumber Baron Inn. Neither one of us had ever had afternoon tea and the lovely people here did not disappoint! We arrived a little early, not knowing what traffic would be like on I-25, but they graciously let us in a little early. The Inn is gorgeous! Decorated in Victorian style fitting the architecture, it was so lovely. We felt like we had stepped back in time. Our lovely, young female server, was so sweet and attentive, (sorry, don't recall her name) but not intrusive. My daughter and I both love "ghost stories" and asked if the Inn was haunted (as rumored). She shared some history of the Inn's guardian spirits. Not in a creepy, scary way, but in a respectful, reverent manner, and brought a book to our table so we could learn more about the history of the Inn. The food was so delicious! The scones, crumpets, finger sandwiches were beautifully prepared and delicious. We both were in total love of the lemon curd. I almost asked for the recipe. I want to go back sometime and spend the night. If you're ever in Denver, and want a lovely afternoon tea experience, I can't recommend this place enough! Thank you again for sharing your beloved, sacred Inn with us, even for only a little while!

Yelp
What a beautiful building! The staff was friendly, the ambiance itself was incredible. However, I'm not sure I've ever had afternoon tea that was not served in individual small pots or steepers. The tea itself was lovely and served in beautiful China but was missing suggested steep times.

Yelp
I went here for a birthday afternoon tea and it was perfection! The staff worked with me several times to help make sure everything was in order beforehand. We opted to join afternoon tea "restaurant style" and not do a private room. The experience was still marvelous. The scones were so good and huge! I tried crumpets for the first time and it was a cool experience as well. The hotel is also quaint and super cool inside! The bathroom was behind a hidden bookcase. The garden out front had a great view for us to take pictures too!

Yelp
This is an amazing tea house, great building lovely food and teas! So relaxing and enjoyable.

Yelp
I love yea here! Super cute place with different tea cups. A nice piles of scones/crumpets, sandwiches, and desserts! Everyone gets a couple harney and sons tea bags as well while you eat. I particularly love the truffle cheese toast and fig sandwiches. All vegetarian!

Yelp
We went for afternoon tea, and though it wasn't terrible, we were actually pretty disappointed. The good: The house is beautiful and lovingly restored, and makes for a lovely setting. Our waitress was cheerful, attentive, and enthusiastic, and the tea is of a high quality and served in pretty china cups. The not so good: The food was quite disappointing. The "scones" were more like drop biscuits, and both they and the crumpets were very dry. We enjoyed the sandwiches, though one of them -- an open-faced cheese on toast -- had obviously been made much earlier so, while it had a nice flavor, it had the texture of cheese that had been melted, then left to congeal, then briefly warmed up for serving. The desserts were fine, but were basically simple cookies we could have made at home. The egregious: we were brought a small dish of something white and told, "...and this is clotted cream," when in fact it appeared to be just watery, barely-whipped cream. I don't know if they don't know what clotted cream is, or if they're just hoping that their customers won't know, but I was really ticked off to be lied to about it.

Connie L.

Yelp
We hosted our future daughter in laws bridal brunch at this magnificent setting. Given we live in SC Sasha was a pleasure to work with in planning and executing each detail remotely. When we walked in the room was beautifully decorated and the food was delicious with plenty of leftovers to take home for the next day's breakfast. The two and a half hours was sufficient time for eating games and opening of presents.

Yelp
Overall a wonderful experience! Great spot for light lunch / brunch with family. The building is 130 years old and well maintained for such an age. There is a lot of dark wood so very dark on the inside. Sandwiches were just ok, nothing special. But the small pastries were good. Tea was also nice, served in beautiful dish ware.
google avatar

Yelp
What a gem! Beautiful older house well maintained. The attention to detail is awesome. We love checking out the different tea places in Denver. This will be top on our list for future teas. Great tea selection. The Blueberry scones were huge and soft. The sandwiches had great choices. Served crumpets, never tried before. Service was excellent! Rate 5 out of 5 teapots (my personal rating system).

T H.

Yelp
Once again a fabulous afternoon tea to the Lumber Baton Inn. Folks, this is the BEST place for tea in the Denver area. The house is amazing, the service impeccable with exceptional attention to detail and the food--the absolute best. Where else are you served crumpets at tea in additional to huge scones, house made lemon curd, clotted cream and berry compote with three tasty sandwiches and to die for cookies? The Better Than Brownie cookies are absolutely better than anything. But if you are at my table you probably won't like them so give them to me. ;). Joel, the proprietor and chef, has this figured out. It's my go to place for tea and trust me, I've been to most of, if not all, tea places in the Denver area. Now I really want to try their weekend brunch. I can't imagine the menu.

Yelp
Stayed here for a short romantic getaway with my partner. Accommodations are wonderful. Garden is gorgeous. Ballroom is fantastic. Tubs are perfect for two. The owner is attentive and kind. Decor is on point. Food is good. Tea is excellent. 10/10.

Yelp
Had Tea and a Card Reading at the Inn. The food for Tea was awesomely good and very English. They even had specific items for me being Gluten Free. Additionally we did a card reading with Elaine. She is fantastic. It was fun and insightful.
google avatar

Angelica R.

Yelp
This place is such a gem for brunch. We sat inside and the owner and her husband are absolutely amazing people with very warm souls. Their food was just as incredible and we can't wait to come back for brunch in the garden. Ps! Ask about their card reading brunches!

Jorgeann S.

Yelp
Brought a friend here for Sunday brunch. The house is beautiful, such a lovely setting. However, the food was terrible, so disappointing! I ordered the Croque-madame, my eggs, which were supposed to be poached, were fried, the yolk was the texture of a hard boiled egg. The ham was dry and over cooked - they only part of the meal I could eat was the potatoes. My friend ordered the quiche, dry & tasteless - Such a shame - this is such a nice atmosphere- hope they can improve the food!

Yelp
I had high hopes for this B & B. I got there at 5:30 and the owner rushed us through checkin and didn't seem all that happy to be helping us. I asked if we could order a drink downstairs before we go out and got "yeah.. but then I'm done". He really seemed bothered the whole time. Not warm and friendly at all, which in my past experiences is the opposite of what stereotypical B&B owners are. I realize the house is very old, but will still mention that the Colorado room had a musty smell. We tried really hard to be able to have dinner there, and couldn't get the owners to communicate with us regarding it. Also tried to get a tea reading and was really hard to get an answer on that.. in the end the answer was no. Off street parking is available, no parking lot. The owners have done a beautiful job restoring the house and breakfast was wonderful and included, but limited hours that guests can enjoy it free of charge. All in all, I won't be back or refer anyone here.

Yelp
A comedy/magic show at the most unlikely place, but a great place it is. This home, built in the 1800's, has been converted to a B&B and event center yet retains the old world charm. I came here to be entertained by local magicians Matthew Brandt and Gene Gordon. Expect the usual card tricks, mind reading and cups and balls guessing game but the best was saved for last. Both magicians predicted what audience members would say, all hermetically sealed before the show started. I was impressed. The show is very kid friendly, comical and entertaining. Well worth the admission. The venue is small so if planning to host a corporate event or wedding party, it is more suitable for smaller crowds. I hope to be back another time to experience high tea with friends. It sounds lovely.

Yelp
My wife and cousin and I had such a wonderful time here. Staff was kind, home was beautiful, food was scrumptious...! I highly recommend it. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
We went here for brunch and had an amazing time! First of all, the mansion is absolutely gorgeous!! The food was great, the service was excellent and the owner stopped by our table too! And $12 bottomless mimosas for the win!

Yelp
Extremely Unique Dinner Date. I took my wife to The Lumber Baron and the experience was completely unique. The cost of food is fixed price ($45ish per person) and you determine how many courses you want. We opted for only 3 courses, but the chef let us know most people opt for 4 courses although they go upwards of 7 courses. The interior of the building is extremely unique and historic. Feels like a setting out of the 1940's with the soft music playing. The staff was incredible and they gave us a tour of the historic building after dinner. I'm sure this place is great for brunch and events, but it was INCREDIBLE for a very unique dinner date.

Yelp
The most awesome lightest melt in your mouth pancakes ever. The coffee Tate's so fresh and lively freshly roasted. To die for for sure. Wow

Cherie' H.

Yelp
The husband and I celebrated our two year anniversary in the HoneyMoon suite. It was absolutely beautiful complete with a jacuzzi tub and perfectly setup room. The management couple was friendly and made great local recommendations. The brose oat pancakes at breakfast were simply delicious. Such a cozy and quaint staycation spot for us. We will return and have already recommended this Inn to our couple friends.

Yelp
This is the absolute best place for afternoon tea in Colorado! We really enjoyed the atmosphere. The food was amazing ... curry flatbread, horseradish beef sandwiches... very authentic crumpets and clotted cream. Earl gray is definitely the tea to go for. The staff was also quite charming. Got to talk to the owner about the house and its history (built in 1890). The chef introduced all of her food to us. What a treat! Go here asap!

Yelp
Originally chose to stay here because I wanted to stay in a unique place that was not just your standard boring hotel room. It turned out to be a great decision! The decor (and history) of the place is phenomenal. If you like tall ceilings and elaborate craftsman detailing, then you'll love this place. The Art Deco / Nuevo wall paper on the ceiling might have been my favorite feature. Also, one of the best parts of our stay was breakfast. It was probably the best meal we ate in denver. I had pan fried trout and eggs and my partner had poached eggs on avocado toast. I didnt even factor this into my decision to stay here, but hands down it totally blows away any of the hotel / bnb breakfasts I've had in any of my recent travels. Do yourself a solid and stay here instead of the Hyatt or something.

Yelp
Chef Sheila made a wonderful brunch today for our family! The Lumber Baron Inn is a fantastic find. They host special events and have a bed and breakfast. However, if you are looking for a delicious brunch, in a unique atmosphere, this place is great. Reservations are required, make sure you call ahead.

Yelp
You may have known that this Bed & Breakfast serves Breakfast, Brunch and High Tea...but did you know it also offers non-guests a "Wine Dinner" (Thurs.-Sat.)? I visited with my husband and sister - who really appreciates beautiful architecture. This place is simply AMAZING all around! The service was fantastic, everything we ordered came as a very large portion, great flavors, and menu varieties. I could go on forever, but I'll just say that absolutely everything we ordered was FIVE STAR and difficult to finish with such large portions. We got several items to share them all, and were so pleased that we did. The Scottish desserts were a pleasant surprise, as they walk you through assembling. The service is wonderful, everyone is very knowledgeable about the menu(s) and the history of the building itself. The three course menu is $45 per person, plus drinks/tax/gratuity. It was worth every penny, and we will be back! After dinner you get to go on a tour of the grounds (permitting a room is not occupied to view). This history, architecture and decor of this building are all simply breath-taking. Obviously, it is from the 1800's, so there is much to be told. Thank you for dinner and a show, Lumber Baron Inn!

Yelp
the lumbar baron inn was amazing. The pictures do not do enough justice to how gorgeous this place really is! Along with the most wonderful staff and delicious breakfast. We will definitely be back for one of their wine dinners or another stay.

Yelp
Beautiful Denver historical home situated perfectly in a Residential area, but within walking distance of restaurant and commercial establishments. Comfortable bed, delicious breakfast, engaging hosts, and gorgeous suites.

Yelp
I took my husband here for his birthday last summer - for a little in town mini getaway. We did the murder mystery dinner and stayed the night in the Mary Ann Keller Suite. The overall look and feel of the Lumber Baron is wonderful. A Denver native, who really put his all into making it a beautiful Victorian showpiece home, restored it. We got to the Inn maybe 30 minutes early (4pm check in) and it was a ghost town when we walked in. So, no worries, we walked around the parlor and took some pictures and strolled the grounds. There was a wedding going on so it seems their attentions were on that event alone. Still a bit after 4p, someone check us in and we made our way up the beautiful staircase to our room. The suite we were in boasted a HUGE TV that positively engulfed the armoire it was situated in. The bathroom was spacious and had a nice tub and looked out onto the back patio (we had a perfect view of the old Celebrity Sport Center Star from our window!). All in all, the room was nice. The mystery dinner was interesting. We started out in the back mingling with characters making their way through the crowd. The plot of the dinner was fine, although we didn't have much audience participation at ours so it might have sort of trudged through. The dinner was blah! A buffet style meal that consisted of rubbery chicken, rice, and veggies. Nothing I would want to eat again! Still it was an experience and a good one. When we retired to our room we hope for a nice hot bath, but unfortunately, the hotel was out of hot water - for hours. That was a disappointment as one of the reasons you get a huge soaking tub is to fill it with hot water and soak! Overall, it was a nice experience, not grand. It is a beautiful site however and I could see how it would be lovely for weddings.

Tami M.

Yelp
A beautiful victorian house with a ghost! If looking for a traditional victorian tea, this is not it. If seeking a gracious host, lite jazzy music, with exquisite food, and relaxed aire (jeans ok) this tea is choice. The GLUTEN FREE food was delicious!! However, if planning on staying the night, be aware. The house is diabolicly haunted.
google avatar

Randy J.

Yelp
We went there in early December of 2014 and the place is just great. The actors are just as pleasant as can be and if you go prepare to be part of the story. Even if you change things up as I did, the actors are able to play a long for a bit without getting away from their plans. The food is good and you won't realize the time has flown by before you know who did it. The only warning that I would be is this house sets in an old neighborhood, so get there early or find yourself parked quite away from the house. Although, the walk may be good for you. I did not stay the night, so I can't comment on how the rooms are at the house. However if they are as good as the show then you won't be disappointed with them either.

Yelp
Whether you're looking for a top-notch Scottish brunch, a historical building and tour, or a quaint bed and breakfast on a weekend in Denver, The Lumber Baron Inn & Gardens has you covered, and then some. My husband and I stopped in to try their new brunch menu and could hardly choose from all of the options, so we settled on three: 1. Oat Waffle - the malted waffles really intrigued me and for good reason. Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, they soaked up the maple syrup and still held firm for each bite, also topped with plump fresh fruit and single-malt whipped cream. 2. Hadrian's Wall - a savory bread pudding containing eggs, lamb sausage, potato, greens and white cheddar, all baked and then seared. Wow. This is the only thing we didn't finish, but we were happy to bring it home. 3. Scotch Eggs - this was the hubby's choice and he really enjoyed it. A basket of rich lamb held delicate poached eggs. This came with a side of potatoes, though on the menu it said potato scone, but I'm guessing this is because it was their opening weekend. Both 2 & 3 came with an arugula salad featuring yogurt dressing, shaved vegetables and flavor-packed dried berries (blueberries? We also saw something similar looking growing outside the window). After our delicious brunch we took a quick tour of the building including all of the suites, the ballroom and a view of the gardens outside. Even though we live in Denver, this would be a really great weekend destination. Each room featured large beds, a luxurious bathtub, shower and other amenities. I don't imagine wanting to leave. The staff was extremely friendly and welcome. We read on the back of the menu that new ownership began just this past January, and they are doing a fantastic job.

Yelp
If you're planning a special Denver-area event, look no further than The Lumber Baron Inn! We just celebrated the release of my newest book, "Mother Goth Rhymes," and no detail was spared by the Lumber Baron staff and owners to make the evening incredibly spectacular. The chef made our food beyond special and excellent and she even bought a skeleton to create a special meat platter. The setting and ambiance was perfection, and I enjoyed a night at the Inn in the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in (Valentine suite). I had one lovely spirit visitor that night and slept like a baby. Breakfast was delicious and I will 100% be having another event here as well as staying the night any chance I get. LOVE the Lumber Baron! I wish I could give this review more stars. GO!

A T.

Yelp
My sister, mother, niece, and I went to the Lumber Baron today for brunch. The whole experience was just delightful. The inn is beautiful, the food was delicious, and the owners were so kind. We were celebrating two birthdays, and the owners surprised the birthday girls with a fresh baked scone each, with a candle in it! I highly recommend the Lumber Baron.

Yelp
My husband had purchased tickets to see Sleightly Impossible, which is a magic show, as a part of an anniversary present to me. I use a wheelchair to go distances and am unable to do more than a few stairs due to medical conditions I have. He was having trouble finding something we could do together because many places either had sold out wheelchair seating or didn't offer wheelchair seating at all. He did, however, call every venue ahead of time to confirm whether or not they were wheelchair accessible. I heard him exclaim excitedly from the other room "YES!" When he got off the phone and found out that we would be able to go see Sleightly Impossible. I seriously enjoy magic, you see. A child could do coin magic and I would gasp and awe, and these were obviously professional magicians. When we showed up we didn't see a ramp for my wheelchair so I just tried to make it up the 7 or 8 steps into the building. I waited patiently with my husband. The Inn is gorgeous, everyone was very kind and friendly. When they began seating, they told us we would need to walk up three flights of stairs! I'm completely unable to do that. We explained the situation and everyone was apologetic that we were given bad phone info. They said that had I brought my wheelchair, they would have *carried* me up the three flights of stairs. We didn't feel at all comfortable with that. (My chair was in the car.) So, they didn't argue at ALL and just issued a refund. I appreciate that they were kind when we arrived. I can appreciate the gorgeous facility. I can appreciate how apologetic everyone was when they realized a mistake had been made (both in person and via email), however, I strongly hope that efforts will be made with other patrons so that their special days are not ruined the way ours was. Had we known we would not be able to get in, we would have gone somewhere else. I left a three star review because I'm not angry. Disappointed, yes, angry- no. I just want other wheelchair users to be able to see this in case they get someone on the phone who tells them that the Inn is accessible. It really isn't. If you can walk, this is a gorgeous place please DO go right ahead. But if you can't walk, please be warned. I will say everyone did their best to fix things when they realized the error. So I'm not trying to tear them down. Just be aware of what you're getting into.

Yelp
We had a lovely high tea here. The staff is beyond friendly and welcoming. The crumpets, scones and all the other delicious items are amazing. We were the only guests, which was different but kinda nice. Is definitely recommend this place for high tea. Everything is made in house!

Yelp
Wasn't sure what to expect when booking dinner here on open table, but can now say this place was great! Ended up having essentially a private dinner in their super cool historic dining room. Went with the ribeye for 2 plus the arugula salad, both were great. The real reason for the 5 stars was Joel (our waiter and the owner) great service, extremely personable and gave us a tour of the place after we ate. If you are looking for great food, and a very unique experience I highly recommend checking this place out!

Yelp
Very nice brunch experience in the Highlands neighborhood of Denver. Great company and service. Food and drink were excellent. The owner gave us a thorough tour after brunch. He showed us the bed and breakfast rooms, all of which my wife and I would enjoy. I recommend this experience and will now post pictures of the food.

Yelp
This B&B was absolutely wonderful. I couldn't of asked for a better stay, and it's all thanks to the host Joel! He was always there to great us. He gave us a tour of the house, as well as showed us before and after pics of the Lumber Baron Inn.The breakfast was superb! I definitely suggest the avocado and poached egg on the English muffin as well as the banana bread French toast! I see on a lot of reviews that the shower as well as the bathroom is small (in the Colorado room), but it's all to keep the charm of the house. By the way the shower may be small but the pressure sure does make up for it. If you love historical B&Bs, the Lumber Baron Inn is a must!

Yelp
Being that neither of us could be with our families this Christmas Eve, my partner and I decided to do something fun and interesting for the holiday. Given the history and that I'd been here before for a murder mystery dinner, I'd suggested it as something to do. It was a great decision! We stayed in the Anniversary Room, which had an awesome setup. We interacted with both Elaine and Joel, who were both extremely welcoming and seemed to genuinely care about their guests. In the morning, I had the trout and eggs and my partner had the avocado sandwich, both of which were amazing. We will definitely be back either to stay or for an event, or both.

Yelp
What a wonderful time! Our weekend stay was everything we could have hoped for and more. The entire staff (from top to bottom) were helpful, accommodating and caring. It was some of the most professional people that we have had the pleasure of dealing with in a long time. We had breakfast, tea and dinner here. All of which were prepared by a lovely woman at the top of her profession. The tea had the most delightful sandwiches and crumpets. Their hand blended teas are extraordinary. The Inn itself is gorgeous and well maintained. The bed was very comfortable and the room as clean. We never felt in the way even when we were "exploring". In short, thanks for such a wonderful time!

Yelp
Really cool Victorian building and MAY be a nice place to stay as a B&B, but my experience was with the dinner theater, so that's what I'll rate. Our business group had a holiday event at their mystery dinner theater and we're still all feeling a bit traumatized from the experience. It's about 5% funny & entertaining, and 95% bizarre, creepy and uncomfortable. Highlight of the evening: decent dinner & some chuckle-worthy jokes. Lowlight of the evening: forcing audience members to come up and pole-dance (I wish I was kidding).
