Excellent location directly across from St Stephen’s Basilica. Rooms facing the basilica have an unimpeded view and are well worth the small upcharge, though it would have been nice to have had newer windows without multiple wide stanchions.
Due to the location noise is an issue especially on weekends, though I expected as much and was still able to sleep fine. The basilica starts chiming its bells every 15 minutes starting at 6am. With Budapest having a reputation as a party destination there is also unfortunately the risk of inconsiderate guests, not helped by the front desk closing nightly at 8pm.
Tea and coffee provided in the rooms, though these were not replenished. Daily housekeeping, albeit half-hearted: one garbage can wasn’t emptied, dishes not removed, floors not swept. More of a re-arranging than a cleaning.
Appropriate bedding is also not provided: queen bed had two twin-sized comforters, which is an absurd level of cost-cutting.
It was pleasant to wake up to the view for a few mornings, though I would choose somewhere else during peak tourist season when the neighbouring square stays awake long after I wish not to be.
