The Magic Sponge

We dined twice for breakfast/lunch here during our trip to Kampot, it was that good! I can't speak about the hotel rooms, but the food and service was amazing. The special was a prawn and smoked ham Benedict, so delicious! And the Indian dishes absolutely spectacular! The owner has been there over a decade and was the first to bring East Indian cuisine to Kampot...he very much delivers on it. The portions are large and the food home-made!

William was kind enough to donate a stay to a local cause, and as a Kampot local I was lucky enough to win a free night at The Magic Sponge. The room was excellent—very clean, comfortable, and well maintained. My child especially enjoyed the wide variety of TV channels, and we had a lot of fun playing a few rounds of mini golf together.||The shower really stood out: strong water pressure and plenty of hot water. The food lived up to its local reputation as one of the best restaurants in town—it was fantastic.||A big thank you to William for the stay. It was truly a 10 out of 10 experience, and I will definitely be recommending The Magic Sponge to any friends who come to visit Kampot.

Had a fantastic time at this excellent hotel, in central Kampot. Loved my room, one of the smartest and prettiest I have stayed jn during my time in Cambodia. Having all the thousands of films available on the large TV was fun. Tasty breakfast. Lots of food available. And really appreciated the cheery support and help from the delightful owner, William. Thoroughly recommend this hotel, excellent value. If travelling with kids, the mini golf looks fun!

Great property run by a kind and helpful owner. William has created something special with the Magic Sponge, once you check in you won’t want to leave. Tours will be arranged, wonderful cocktails served and delicious food freshly prepared from a wide array of cuisines. If you’re bored there’s mini golf or pool to play. Don’t think, just book but beware of falling mangoes!

If you want sex n’ drugs n’ rock n’ roll, Magic Sponge is NOT for you! It has a quiet, laid back ambience, with jazz music playing quietly in the background. The building itself is Art Deco, albeit faux, and it IS fabulous! The bar too is beautiful. The centre of Kampot is very close: it’s just on the edge of town. So the location is perfect.

The owner and the staff are very friendly and made us fee likel home. Rooms are nice and clean, everything at this place just works. The food is so good, and the portions are huge!! We will definitely come back to this awesome place!

Rooms are really nice and value is really good for the room. Rooms have TV with Netflix and some other streaming apps Quiet place, Plenty of parking along the street and some at property. Operated by nice, chatty gentleman I approached the place directly and got good price for the room, but later realized that booking com price was even better. I gess I visited off season.

Excellent Breakfast, certainly leaves you full probably the best breakfast I’ve had in Asia and I’ve been around a long while. The owner an American nice guy been here a long time a well established well visited establishment, I haven’t stayed in the rooms so I cannot comment on the standards however William is very enthusiastic about his business even after 16 years probably why he has so many customers along with the high standards he offers of food. Good portions at very low prices I will be sure to return with more friends in the near future
