The Magnolia Pancake Haus

We made a special visit to this restaurant to celebrate an anniversary. We always look at the parking lot being packed, and that has been a deterrent for us to come here before. we ordered regular breakfast such as omelette and scrambled eggs. In reference to the flavor, the food is appetizing but insipid. Pancakes were beautiful in Texture and color. They were good. In my opinion, what took away points for fully enjoying my meal was that the restaurant had a room temperature a little bit colder than needed, since it was winter. Food got cold very quickly specially because the plates were not even slightly warm. I have a special dislike for cold food . The atmosphere in the restaurant was noisy and we could hear everybody else’s conversation, although we tried to keep ours in a low level. The place is very clean, colorful and the decorations want to resemble a home. the service was very professional, however it seemed that they were in a rush. It was difficult for me to feel comfortable since our waiter would not answer verbally to request such as do you have ketchup, or could you bring us a spoon, and would only walk away and bring the item. In conclusion, I want to say the food is good however there were certain conditions that didn’t make it inviting for us to come back anytime soon.

If you don’t order the SOUTHERN BENNIE then you’re missing out. It’s the best thing on the menu dear sweet baby Jesus it’s good. The biscuits and gravy were great too but needed extra gravy. Pro Tip: use the Yelp app to get on the waitlist. We planned it perfectly and parked and walked straight to our table. The service was great and the atmosphere was good. A bit loud and full of kiddos but it’s the holiday season so it’s expected.

We stopped in for breakfast after a long night of flight delays. The food was delicious, and our waiter was great. He clearly knew and understood the menu and was very helpful and curious. I had the jambalaya omelets with a side of wheat pancakes. Both were delicious. My friend had the fruit & yogurt (I'm not sure the official menu name), and she loved hers, as well. If I ever get back to San Antonio, this will be a must visit!

Very good place for breakfast. The food is always excellent. I had the omelet and it is one of my faves. Very flavorful and plenty packed full of toppings. Would absolutely come here again.

Was very busy, but wait was only 20 minutes. Food was delicious and are server Sydney was fantastic. Was on top of getting us things we needed but didn't hover over the table. Would definitely go again.

I used to LOVE Magnolia Pancake Haus, was a loyal original location customer and then was so excited to have one built on heubner. However, it has been awhile since we have eaten at magnolias (baby/toddler life) and I have to say that our first time back in a couple years was disappointing. Food was okay, but the pancakes they brought out with the meal were so small. It made me ask about the size and the waiter just told me they had always been that size. I tried to tell him I remember them being much bigger but he just said no. Our actual waitress informed me that these are the side cakes, unless you order the true pancake meal they do not come large.thank you for clarifying!

Excellent menu! Food was extraordinary! Too much to finish! Custom menu unlike other pancake houses. Cool outdoor venue in back. Service was fair. Overall a very good experience

Delicious breakfast. The corned beef hashwas perfection..no canned corned beef here just sliced actual corned beef. It was fantastic. The giant apple pancake was incredible. It had a nice cripsy edge and amazing flavor. Enjoyed everything we had here

We visit every 2 weeks and yesterday was spot on! We were served by Sy, the first waitress to actually talk to us and engage in a conversation while maintaining superior customer service! The food was phenomenal as always, the waffle is truly the creme de la creme being that it's the same flavor as the og pancakes but enhanced due to the airyness and perfect crispness. Please recognize Sy for the amazing experience she gave us, it was the first time we felt seen and truly taken care of!

Cute place, great for big parties. Looks like it has great seating outside for a fun night out, but we were only there for the breakfast. Food was good, but nothing amazing that I would go out of my way to get. We had the Southern Benny and the Corned Beef Hash. They were good, but the corned beef was super greasy. My stomach didn't agree with it, so my husband ate what I couldn't. So if you're not into greasy food, don't go for that dish. It's hard to think that dish was on Diners Drive-Ins and Dives. I'd like to know what year, and how long ago that was. The pancakes were yummy though. I thinks it's safe to say the pancakes at a pancake house are going to be good lol. I should've taken a picture, but they put one, cute lil blueberry on top of our blueberry pancakes, I loved it lol. Service was great and quick, though there was a wait so be mindful of that when you get there. You can put yourself on a wait list on the Yelp app before heading there to make it easier.

Went back to eat here with hubby after mom's appointment near by. For a table of three seating took less than a 30 second wait! My mom is disabled and small so the table to chair height was perfect. The accommodations for those with disabilities is very good here especially anyone in a wheelchair. I told hubby that portions were big and he got excited. He ordered the magnolia breakfast and gobbled it down! Didn't leave a crumb! I had the ranch breakfast with scrambled eggs and sausage. So yummy! The biscuits were delicious and the gravy wasn't too salty. Mom had the eggs benedict with season fruit in the side. For a day before Christmas Eve it was busy and moving but very homey and not intrusive. Definitely a nice breakfast place to take family and friends!

This place is always great. Service is efficient and friendly. Food is always delicious and the place is always clean. There is a wonderful outdoor area/seating while you wait for table. Recommend come super early if you don't want to wait long or join the wait list.

The strawberry cheesecake pancakes on the Haus seasonal menu deliver. Solid choice and $12 well spent.

Seated immediately. Lindsay was my waitress and she was nice and quick to help me. She gave me the condiments I needed even before my food arrived. Food arrived quickly. Loved every bite and all the staff were friendly. Wonderful atmosphere .Highly recommend.

Sunday brunch was a great time here. Cute and cozy vibe. If you're going on a Sunday/busy time, wake up early and get yourself on the waitlist online before they turn it off for the day, that is what got my friends (group of 5 and 4) in for Sunday brunch! Food was so tasty!! And affordable. It did take a while for the server to come get our order, but otherwise would go again!

I only live a few miles away from this location and that makes me happy. The food is always good and the service is top notch. I really enjoy their coffee as well. They will even let you take your coffee in a to go cup when you are ready to leave. I got the weekend special was a cinnamon roll waffle for $11.50 plus tax. I added eggs and sausage patties for an extra charge. The waffle was delicious. If you can try it this weekend do it(11/2 -11/3)! The eggs and sausage patties were good as well. There is a wait time most of the time,but it's worth it in my opinion. Just get on their waitlist before heading to the restaurant and you will be good. Definitely eat at this place if you're hungry for a good breakfast.

The parking great!! The service was just below standard, we got there around 9 am and the seating was not as bad. But the wait can be long, they have outdoor sitting to wait while they get a table for you. The potato's are more bland than anything I've ever had, the eggs were lacking salt. The best thing was the pancakes!! Other than that everything including the ambiance was ok. Definitely not worth an hour wait.

Food was delicious. Service was great. Never did get the Diet Coke I ordered but I also didn't get charged for it, so it's all good.

While in town for business, I had breakfast at Magnolia Pancake House with co-workers. When I first arrived, I loved the look of the restaurant and the homey feel. There was plenty of parking. I was impressed by the large menu selection of breakfast items. I decided to try the seasonal special of churro French toast which was delicious. I also orders the corned beef hash, scrambled eggs and hash browns. Out of everything the French toast was my favorite. I wasn't crazy about the flavor of the corned beef hash but it wasn't bad. The server was very polite and helpful with explaining the menu. The food came out hot and fast. This is a great breakfast option when in San Antonio!

If you want a genuine comfort food breakfast, this is the place. Biscuits and gravy were tasty (though the gravy could have been a bit better, but I make my own and am a self-proclaimed gravy snob).

Please think twice before coming here. Their price gouging is insane. They charge for coffee creamer. Regular and their "sweet" creamer. We've been to other restaurants and do not get charged for regular creamer so why here? Unbelievable. Also, they do not offer senior citizens discounts. So sad especially since today was Grandparents Day. If you are okay with being nickeled and dimed for everything, then this is the place for you! And the comment response left by owner as to why they do not offer discount for seniors /military is even more of a slap in the face. Simply greedy.

Been here numerous times and have loved it every time! They always have seasonal options on their menu. I would personally recommend everything on the menu and it is reasonably priced!

Got treated by a friend for my birthday to bananas foster French toast. My French toast was great. I felt a little bad for the boy because there were not many berries on the strawberry Belgian waffle compared to other places I've been. My friend really liked her food (she is vegan, so few options, but the one they had hit the target for her). The decor is quaint, simple, old fashioned. Great service from our waiter.

Love the Granny Smith apple item. It says on the menu that it takes 10 minutes longer to serve so we ordered that as soon as the server came by the coffee was delicious and we had several refills. The service was nice and courteous, but I definitely recommend the Apple item it is not cake or eggy and full of delicious. Textured apples some crispy, some soft.

This place is extremely busy on the weekends. We joined the wait-list on Yelp at about 9:35 am and I think we were 23rd in line. Our check-in time was 10:08 at which point we were 7th on the list. We were seated maybe five minutes later. Our server, Sonya, was just lovely. She was so joyful and friendly and made our experience that much better. The service was a little slow, but I imagine it's because of the volume of people they serve. Sonya brought our coffee and libations. We were left with a carafe of coffee to serve at our leisure. However, we only had one dish of cream. This was fine for the two of us driving coffee, but not if I wanted to drink the entire carafe. I ordered the Magnolia breakfast with scrambled eggs, bacon, hash brown, and buttermilk pancakes. The meal was solid, but not amazing. My eggs were perfectly cooked, but cool, as if they sat waiting for a while to be served. The pancake was delicious, but not ultra fluffy like I was expecting. The hash brown and bacon were typical. Overall, the meal was good. This is definitely a place that can please many different palates, but I'd probably opt for other venues first.

VERY GOOD! Stopped in for brunch and they said the wait was 10-15 minutes. We were seated in under five. Service was very nice and the restaurant has a homie feel. The coffee had a great flavor and they leave a carafe of it on your table. The apfel pfannekuchen was very tasty. It is a puffy apple pancake with a crispy crumb outside. It was delicious. The grits were a little bland even with the addition of cheese. Bacon was good. They leave a warm bottle of real maple syrup on the table. Next time we are in town we will definitely be back.

Over the years since this location has opened the quality of the food, the gracious service and reasonable prices have not changed. Order anything it will be good .

Went for a work breakfast. It was fine. I had heard people rave about the food so I had high expectations. I thought food was fine. Server very friendly.

Oh, you're gonna pay for that! It's been a while since we visited the Magnolia Pancake House. There is still a very long line to get in. There's still no call ahead or reservations. Something that has changed is the menu. Now the prices are absent. You don't know how much you are going to pay until you get the cash register. (Note: There is a QR code that will take you to an online menu with all the prices.) The service was awesome. The food was great. The prices.. well, at $75.00 for three people? The consensus is that none of us will return. After tip, the price was close to %100.00! So that you don't think we ordered enough to feed a large family, I will list what we had: Four biscuits 7.25 Three coffee 9.87 House made creamer .99 (enough for three cups) Chicken and waffle flight 13.75 Eggs Fitzgerald 15.75 Apfel Pfannekuchen 12.95 Side of, (two regular pancakes) not sure of the price.

This is a huge restaurant with four different seating areas. We came a little after 1p, so we didn't have a wait and were seated immediately. They initially had us at a table in the middle of the room, but we were able to switch to a booth. They have a large menu with plenty of options. The only downside for us was the lack of breakfast meat alternative options since we don't do red meat or pork. He ordered the banana bread waffle, and I had the Dutch apple pancake. That waffle was delicious and had great flavor. The Dutch pancake is one that is baked in the oven, similarly to the one at Original House of Panckaes. It was good, very tasty, but could have used a little more bread to match the toppings. We also had mimosas and some sides, and those were also good. Service was also friendly and fast! This is a MUST DO if you enjoy breakfast. I'd love to go back and try other waffles the next time.

I'm in San Antonio for the week for work, and this place came highly recommended by a coworker. Ate there earlier this week, and had to have it again today before I headed home. Great service and food both times. First time - Bacon waffle was perfectly crispy and delicious with warm house made syrup. Today - Avocado toast with a scrambled egg on the side for some added protein. Loved the sweet/savory flavors in the avocado toast! Don't miss this place!

Have eaten here before and was good but this time my breakfast was horrible. My hash browns were burnt and tastes old. The pancakes were not even very warm. Really disappointed this time. Sorry

Went with a large group for breakfast lunch. Ambiance casual, a lot of people come here for the infamous pancakes. Service was good, waitress on point, kept the orders straight. Now on to the food. Yes, this is highly recommended for the pancakes! While has been a minute since I have been here. Not all the food is as amazing as I once recall. Our group was fairly large & overall the food was good. However seems to have lost the touch on some meals. For example the Eggs Benedict calls for poached eggs. The eggs were over cooked & dry. Hash browns overcooked. Over all Meal looked nice, & presentable, however would stick to the pancakes. I can say the pancakes, amazing.

Outside is pretty. Our waitress was super sweet and attentive. The food was very affordable, one of the cheapest places we've eaten. The food was okay. Boy 1 plate - the Jambalaya plate tasted like it came from an MRE. Kid 2 - his swirly pepper sauce omelette was okay. Our plates were ok, it tasted like Dennys 20 years ago. It's solid cheap food, nothing fancy, it didn't taste frozen. Would I go back? Not likely. I gave it a 3 because the kids and husband gave me stuff about rating it a 2 since our waitress was so nice.

Were there on a Thursday morning. We joined the waitlist online on our way there. Got a message that I needed to check in by a certain time. Within 5 minutes, I received a text that I had been removed from the waitlist for not checking in. They said it is to weed anyone out that is not there. Ordered praline French toast. French toast had no flavor. Had to rely on the syrup for flavor. Magnolia Browns (from the menu - Fresh Shredded Spuds, Onions and A Hint of Garlic.). Overly seasoned with garlic) couldn't taste anything else. Waited over 45 mins for our food.

This is one of my daughters favorite breakfast places and I have a hard time disagreeing with her. The pancakes are filled with flavor, the coffee is always good and the fruit is always fresh. The service is pretty quick and have never had any issues. The ambiance is just a small hole in the wall type of feel but its popularity would suggest otherwise. It can get noisy during peak periods but that has never been a deterrent for us.

Another absolutely amazing restaurant, we were really struggling to find a place to eat in San Antonio, when we stumbled across Magnolia, the restaurant looks like an old farm house with the barn, the restaurant is surprisingly huge, and packed, while they were fully packed we were able to be seated in only a few min, and the waiter was awesome, quick and attentive, she explained all the menu options! Be careful with that AUTHENTIC APFEL PFANNEKUCHEN while it's delicious it's huge! They give you huge servings here!

Breakfast is great here. Pancakes are the in my top 3 in SA. Always great service. Make sure you get on the waitlist before you go.

This review is simple.. they now charge for pick up orders!! The food portions have gotten smaller and the food doesn't taste the same especially the corned beef hash. I generally always get my food to go to avoid having to pay the difference the owners won't. If I wanted to pay a service fee I could've just door dashed something else.

For a restaurant with pancakes in the name, they do some interesting things with French Toast. Taking a dessert/specialty bread, Magnolia Pancake Haus makes a Banana Nut Bread French Toast that was totally unexpected and very tasty. Came first thing in the morning on Friday and there was zero wait. The restaurant is cozy but smelled like natural gas...not sure what was going on. Our waiter came right away and took our drink orders. I got the freshly squeezed orange juice but it was a tad bit too bitter for my liking. I ordered the egg white frittata with a side of pancakes and loved it! The frittata was delicious with all the veggies and the pancakes were really good as well. The syrup is served warm which is great. Definitely enjoyed my meal.

It doesn't have to be said, but the pancakes here are amazing. Consistently amazing. There's nothing else to say. Keep up the good work.

I ate at this restaurant for the first time today 100% NOT IMPRESSED I ordered the "Smoked Turkey Hash" My dish came out BURNT I had to send it back The kids menu was absolutely disappointing Let's be real NOBODY wants "Potato Chips" with their pancakes or any type of breakfast! The pancakes are over hyped they literally taste like eggs and nothing else I will most likely never eat here again.

Yummy brunch when I came. I've been here a few times before. Make sure to get on the waitlist if it's around lunchtime. There is always a wait because it is so good. On my recent visit, I wanted a variety of flapjacks, so I ordered 1 gingerbread pancake (seasonal), 1 regular, and 1 bananas foster. The gingerbread came with icing, and the bananas foster came with a praline rum sauce and bananas. It was such a good treat! My favorite would have to be the gingerbread.

I went here with friends whilst traveling in Texas. It was HOT outside, but absolutely lovely with A/C inside. We had placed our name on their waiting list via the Yelp app. But when we arrived there were still seven (7) parties ahead of us. Okay it's a Sunday, post-church. So I get the busyness. However, they have a policy not to seat your party until everyone has arrived. Hmmmm We were finally seated and it was pretty busy inside. We got a corner booth for five of us and a baby. Very cozy. Their menu has a lot of breakfast options. However, no hot chocolates (unless they were on the kid's menu). I ordered the Eggs and... (poached with grits) and the Citrus Compote. The eggs were poached perfectly and the grits were creamy and delicious. The Citrus Compote was refreshing. Here why I am giving three stars. Yes I understand they were busy, however having to ask for a spoon twice and our party's food coming out in delayed stages was unfortunate. The same happened with boxes. I'm fairly certain our server was new-ish because it looked like the manager was helping her deliver food. Additionally we were never asked how everything thing was or if we needed anything. Which I did need a hot water refill for my tea. Nevertheless, my next trip we may try this place again, but for now it's not at the top of my list.

Wow it's been a while since coming to MPH and it's just as tasty as I remembered!! This place gets packed and there's normally a 30-45 min wait so keep that in mind when arriving. They sometimes participate with certain apps where you can "get in line" virtually. There were vendors out the back seeking little trinkets and Girl Scout cookies (yum!) We waited approximately 30mins to be seated. Server was warm and friendly. Ordered the Eggs and Browns (2 eggs and a large hash brown) and it includes a side for pancake, waffle or biscuits. Definitely went with the pancakes, and they have warmed maple syrup to go along with their amazing pancakes. The place is very busy, warm and welcoming and well, be prepared for some level of noise and activity solely on the amount of people that come here. Amazing breakfast, served fresh and quick, reasonably priced items.

I was visiting friends in San Antonio and they recommended we go here for brunch. I'm so glad we went here! I loved being able to join the waitlist online, because there is definitely a long wait there often. It was in such a cute area filled with trees and there was a farmers market going on right outside the restaurant. Our service was great and she was super attentive. The food wasn't anything crazy, but it definitely hit the spot. I would definitely go back!

Great place to go if you enjoy pancakes with additional toppings or speciality pancakes. General breakfast including the pancakes is average. Service is great, ambiance is typical of a busy restaurant. This business was recommended by several people as I am new to the area. I didn't have anything that impressed me and neither did the other 5 people in my party.

I would say this place has the ultimate comfort food. The corned beef hash was delicious and the pancakes were soft and fluffy. The wait is always a little bit longer here (we waited 20 minutes on a Wednesday) but I think it's well worth it.

My wife and I have had nothing short of great food and awsome service. We have found our "go-to" place for breakfast.
