Shrinkflation is alive and well at MPH! It wasn't too long ago that their pancakes filled a typical dinner plate, and sometimes even hung over the plate, and the omelets took half the plate.... Those days seem to be long gone as their servings shrank while their prices increased. My omelet and pancakes were noticeably smaller. The omelet didn't even touch the inner lines of the plate, but was at least fluffy with a decent amount of bacon and cheese. The pancake size was truly a disappointment considering the name of the place has 'Pancake' in it. The 2 pancakes were served on a small plate and fit perfectly in the inside line. My pancakes were dry, but butter and syrup helped. Flavor-wise it was great, no critique there. The service was also bad. My party of 2 was seated right away due to a hostess mistake on check in (good problem to have, right!) But then we waited 10 minutes to be acknowledged by a server. We watched 3 other tables be seated, acknowledged, and have their drinks before my table was approached. All in all, the high standards of MPH seem to have disappeared and its relevance in the ever growing breakfast/brunch scene is getting as small as their portions....

While visiting San Antonio, TX...We came to try this place after looking at numerous Google Reviews...needless to say, this place did not disappoint us! The Omelets, French Toast, and Yogurt Bowl was truly delicious...it speaks volumes that this place was packed at 1pm on a weekday. On that note, even though the place was packed - customer service was still phenomenal...all the waiters and waitresses were attentive and constantly checking on guest (never seen that at any establishment)... It was so many items on the menu that looked great - I can't wait to come back and try them all. We absolutely love this place!

Google
⭐️⭐️⭐️ The food was genuinely enjoyable, and the atmosphere at this restaurant was warm and inviting. From the moment I walked in, the ambiance gave off a cozy, well-designed vibe that made me feel like this could easily become a regular go-to spot. The layout was clean, the decor tasteful, and the environment felt family-friendly and welcoming. However, despite the positive first impressions, the customer service fell short and unfortunately impacted the overall experience. During our meal, a server who was cleaning a nearby table accidentally dropped a cup, causing water and ice to fly in our direction — soaking us in the process. While accidents do happen, what really stood out was that at first, there was no apology or acknowledgment at all. We were left sitting there wet and confused, and the moment just passed without any attempt to check on us or offer help. Much later, the server did return and apologize, stating that she was having a bad day. And while I appreciated the honesty, it was disappointing that the apology felt like more of an afterthought — prompted more by circumstance than genuine concern. A bad day should never override the importance of hospitality, especially when the guest experience is directly affected. Adding to the frustration, I only received a drink refill after being shut down earlier in the meal. I had to get up myself to find a straw from a different server and ask other staff members just to get basic service like refills. Our server never once returned to check on us proactively. Meanwhile, I watched other tables nearby receive attentive, cheerful service — their servers were engaged, laughing, and interacting warmly with their guests, which made our treatment feel even more isolating. It was disappointing to feel overlooked and undervalued, especially when the environment clearly had the potential to offer a high-quality experience. Good food can only go so far if it’s not supported by consistent, attentive service. In the end, while I can absolutely say the food and atmosphere were well above average, the poor service and lack of professionalism really took away from what could have been a five-star experience. With better staff training and more consistent attention to guests — even on tough days — this place could truly stand out.

Google
Get here early. Theres no reservations so be prepared to wait or get there early. The food is defi itely good. The pancakes are sweet but not overly sweet, the warm syrup put them over the top! The benedicts were also really good. Decent service for how busy it was.

This is such a cool place for breakfast or brunch. It is usually really busy so get here and expect to wait. Great food and the staff are amazing. We have not had one bad thing here. Loved it all. The outside is just as cute as the inside. They also have a great rental for events.

We made a special visit to this restaurant to celebrate an anniversary. We always look at the parking lot being packed, and that has been a deterrent for us to come here before. we ordered regular breakfast such as omelette and scrambled eggs. In reference to the flavor, the food is appetizing but insipid. Pancakes were beautiful in Texture and color. They were good. In my opinion, what took away points for fully enjoying my meal was that the restaurant had a room temperature a little bit colder than needed, since it was winter. Food got cold very quickly specially because the plates were not even slightly warm. I have a special dislike for cold food . The atmosphere in the restaurant was noisy and we could hear everybody else’s conversation, although we tried to keep ours in a low level. The place is very clean, colorful and the decorations want to resemble a home. the service was very professional, however it seemed that they were in a rush. It was difficult for me to feel comfortable since our waiter would not answer verbally to request such as do you have ketchup, or could you bring us a spoon, and would only walk away and bring the item. In conclusion, I want to say the food is good however there were certain conditions that didn’t make it inviting for us to come back anytime soon.

Google
Quite impressive 👏. The pancakes are definitely made different. They taste as though they have less air in the batter and the consistency is a bit more moist and solid, allowing a very faint hint of the egg to come through in a way that makes the whole pancake spectacular. I got the Apple Cinnamon Pancakes with sides of eggs, Apple wood smoked bacon and hash browns. The slight sweetness of the apples and nearly imperceptible cinnamon made a great balance, but the syrup, served hot really put things over the top to make something amazing. The bacon was near perfectly cooked and very flavorful. Eggs are eggs, but still prepared well. The hash browns are clearly seasoned, with an interesting flavor profile, but quite good. They serve them as a rather thick layer of potato, making them very moist inside compared to what I was expecting, having only a crisped top layer. The staff did say you can request them crispy if desired, so I will do so next time. Definitely try this place out! I want to try the Bavarian desert pancake next.

Howdy u'all! Before heading out of town to your destination, don't miss out on breakfast! San Antonio is loaded with all kinds of restaurants, this one happens to be opened at 7 in the morning. Recommend, a reservation, despite waiting for 20 minutes. We were seated promptly in an airy, yet comfortable setting. This haus offers a good hearty American breakfast of omelettes, French toast, pancakes, waffles, and much more. The meals were were very good. The pancakes were tasted delicious as well with the waffles and a side of hash browns. The syrup was warm, not so sweet, but just right! Expect the atmosphere to be chattyand at times rambuctious, but you well mostly get that from most family restaurants. 😉 A definite must go, if you just apply for the time!

Yelp
As featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, The Magnolia Pancake Haus lives up to the hype. The restaurant sits directly adjacent to its own Magnolia Halle--a large event venue. Despite being busy, service was quick, and our server was genuinely the sweetest ever The menu has a few standout items, including a fun Texas-shaped waffle and a surprisingly customizable scrambled egg option. I was pleasantly caught off guard when asked if I wanted to add anything to my eggs--something I've never been asked at a breakfast spot before. (I went with tomato and spinach.) Would recommend stopping by if you are in San Antonio!

Yelp
Busy place but using the Yelp! Waitlist feature pays off. We didn't have to wait very long at arrival, maybe 5 minutes. Very friendly staff all the way around. Chairs are hard wood however.. which isn't too comfy.. booths at least have a seat cushion. Service was attentive and very friendly. She helped us select the right omelet and shared her personal favorites and why. Oh by the way coffee was really rich and delicious. And they bring real half and half , not the fake stuff. My wife selected the joes eggs which is a frittata with mushrooms, spinach, eggs, cheese and a roasted pepper sauce that was so good. I had the Monterrey which was equally awesome. We opted the side to be the small pancakes which were fine but the syrup they brought to the table seemed watered down.. it poured like water, not syrup. So minus one star for the syrup, which could have been a lot better - yeah I know real thick maple syrup is expensive, but this either wasn't the real thing or had been diluted. Nevertheless, awesome food overall and very efficient. Definitely will go back.

Yelp
Scrumptious food all around. We came prepared for a wait (always best to plan for a wait) and had our coffee in the Beirgarten out back. Fine weather today too made for a delightful time under the trees. We had Irish cream coffee hot, and cold with rum and without Once our table was ready we received a text and call advising us to come in. The restaurant is large, has several dining rooms with booths and tables. Plenty of room to walk through!!! Love that!! Our food was delicious. I had the very berry waffle with bacon & eggs. Best waffle ever. Crispy to the last bite even with the berries on top but not burnt!! My friends had omelettes and a house speciality Apfel Pfannekuchen. Both were very good. The apple was amazing!! Loads of cinnamon sugar, eggs, batter and other deliciousness!! Like a pie and omelette combination. Speaking of omelette, it was huge!! Fluffy and filled with flavor. Will definitely return. Our waitress was attentive and respond to questions or requests. Very nice.

Yelp
This is one of a couple Magnolia pancake Haus restaurants in the area. This location is no different than the others, long wait times, but the staff hustles as they are used to the constant rotation of customers. Definitely worth the weight so plan accordingly.

Yelp
I was so disappointed when the original location near San Pedro and Bitters closed but I didn't want to go out to 1604 so I chose this location near USAA/Medical Center instead. I was greeted by a hostess and had to wait a few minutes to get seated. Waitress had arrived and took my order for french toast, bacon, sausage and a small apple juice. The bacon was a bit crispy and the french toast was OK. Service could've used some improvement and wasn't as good as the San Pedro restaurant. I don't like how Magnolia is too lazy to post their prices on the menu and wants you to scan a QR code instead.

Yelp
Deliciousness! Breakfast was excellent! Great customer service. Highly recommend. Look forward to my next visit.

Yelp
I'm not usually a fan of breakfast spots, but Magnolia Pancake Haus might just be the best breakfast place I've been to. It's extremely popular, especially on weekends, so I highly recommend getting in line through Yelp to avoid a long wait. The service was quick and everyone there was super friendly, which made the experience even better. The food is absolutely delicious. My fiancé always goes for the omelettes, while I usually stick to the basic breakfast with over-medium eggs, and everything has been great every time. This visit, we tried the strawberry shortcake pancakes which were sweet, fluffy, and fantastic. We also added a side of French toast, which was exactly what you'd expect, and it didn't disappoint. If you're looking for a solid breakfast spot, Magnolia Pancake Haus is definitely worth the visit! Highly recommend it for a hearty and tasty start to your day.

Yelp
My waitress was amazing. She was attentive, and super friendly. The blueberry pancakes are really good, and they keep the syrup warmed up, which is a nice touch. I got a seasonal food, the grilled cheese, eggs Benedict. It was different, but I liked it. My boyfriend got a breakfast scramble bowl. I thought this meal was going to be expensive, because for breakfast it seems like all restaurants want to charge for things like refills on juices. But, the meal was only $38 total for everything that you see on the table here.
google avatar

Yelp
It's worth that wait for delicious pancakes. Pulled pork Benedict is also top tier. Great for Mother's Day type of occasions. Mimosas while you wait!
google avatar

Sneha G.

Yelp
Sunday brunch was a great time here. Cute and cozy vibe. If you're going on a Sunday/busy time, wake up early and get yourself on the waitlist online before they turn it off for the day, that is what got my friends (group of 5 and 4) in for Sunday brunch! Food was so tasty!! And affordable. It did take a while for the server to come get our order, but otherwise would go again!

Yelp
I only live a few miles away from this location and that makes me happy. The food is always good and the service is top notch. I really enjoy their coffee as well. They will even let you take your coffee in a to go cup when you are ready to leave. I got the weekend special was a cinnamon roll waffle for $11.50 plus tax. I added eggs and sausage patties for an extra charge. The waffle was delicious. If you can try it this weekend do it(11/2 -11/3)! The eggs and sausage patties were good as well. There is a wait time most of the time, but it's worth it in my opinion. Just get on their waitlist before heading to the restaurant and you will be good. Definitely eat at this place if you're hungry for a good breakfast.

Yelp
Great food. Great service! Our server, Nadine was awesome. She has the best personality, such a fun young woman. She made our visit so enjoyable.

Yelp
First time coming to the Magnolia Pancake Haus. We got here at 10am the wait time was already 40 to 50mins. Everyone that was coming in was willing to wait which is a great sign of good food and hospitality.the nice part about waiting is you don't have to just sit inside. They have an open area for people to walk around / let the kids run around. They put in your number and will text you when your table is ready. They have the wait time and placement on the yelp app. After sitting down you can really feel a southern charm. The staff is super friendly. The food was great everything came with a side of pancakes. I wish Benedict's had more hollandaise sauce. Other than that it was very good and we will be back!

Yelp
This place is always great. Service is efficient and friendly. Food is always delicious and the place is always clean. There is a wonderful outdoor area/seating while you wait for table. Recommend come super early if you don't want to wait long or join the wait list.

Yelp
Seated immediately. Lindsay was my waitress and she was nice and quick to help me. She gave me the condiments I needed even before my food arrived. Food arrived quickly. Loved every bite and all the staff were friendly. Wonderful atmosphere .Highly recommend.

Yelp
The strawberry cheesecake pancakes on the Haus seasonal menu deliver. Solid choice and $12 well spent.

Yelp
While in town for business, I had breakfast at Magnolia Pancake House with co-workers. When I first arrived, I loved the look of the restaurant and the homey feel. There was plenty of parking. I was impressed by the large menu selection of breakfast items. I decided to try the seasonal special of churro French toast which was delicious. I also orders the corned beef hash, scrambled eggs and hash browns. Out of everything the French toast was my favorite. I wasn't crazy about the flavor of the corned beef hash but it wasn't bad. The server was very polite and helpful with explaining the menu. The food came out hot and fast. This is a great breakfast option when in San Antonio!

Yelp
Cute place, great for big parties. Looks like it has great seating outside for a fun night out, but we were only there for the breakfast. Food was good, but nothing amazing that I would go out of my way to get. We had the Southern Benny and the Corned Beef Hash. They were good, but the corned beef was super greasy. My stomach didn't agree with it, so my husband ate what I couldn't. So if you're not into greasy food, don't go for that dish. It's hard to think that dish was on Diners Drive-Ins and Dives. I'd like to know what year, and how long ago that was. The pancakes were yummy though. I thinks it's safe to say the pancakes at a pancake house are going to be good lol. I should've taken a picture, but they put one, cute lil blueberry on top of our blueberry pancakes, I loved it lol. Service was great and quick, though there was a wait so be mindful of that when you get there. You can put yourself on a wait list on the Yelp app before heading there to make it easier.

Joe C.

Yelp
Clean nice place, great pancake options, food was fresh and great service. I'll be back with my family.

Kristie H.

Yelp
Expect a wait on the weekends for sure, but it's well worth it! Of course the pancakes are fantastic, but we've also enjoyed French toast, eggs Benedict, biscuits and gravy, and breakfast platters like eggs, ham, hash browns, and toast. A must-do whenever we're in San Antonio.
google avatar

Angie A.

Yelp
Went back to eat here with hubby after mom's appointment near by. For a table of three seating took less than a 30 second wait! My mom is disabled and small so the table to chair height was perfect. The accommodations for those with disabilities is very good here especially anyone in a wheelchair. I told hubby that portions were big and he got excited. He ordered the magnolia breakfast and gobbled it down! Didn't leave a crumb! I had the ranch breakfast with scrambled eggs and sausage. So yummy! The biscuits were delicious and the gravy wasn't too salty. Mom had the eggs benedict with season fruit in the side. For a day before Christmas Eve it was busy and moving but very homey and not intrusive. Definitely a nice breakfast place to take family and friends!
google avatar

Michael V.

Yelp
Great food and service. Although the menu has no prices on it. Don't like the plastic glasses though
google avatar

Mary Alice C.

Yelp
The parking great!! The service was just below standard, we got there around 9 am and the seating was not as bad. But the wait can be long, they have outdoor sitting to wait while they get a table for you. The potato's are more bland than anything I've ever had, the eggs were lacking salt. The best thing was the pancakes!! Other than that everything including the ambiance was ok. Definitely not worth an hour wait.

Shae S.

Yelp
I love this place! Food is amazing and customer service is phenomenal! Highly recommend!
google avatar

Gabriela V.

Yelp
This was my family's first time and we enjoyed our breakfast, The wait time was 40 mins but they moved so quickly it didn't bother me too much. The atmosphere was comforting, because the staff and servers were so kind and friendly upon arrival. Food came out very quickly which is a plus and the Irish coffee was yummy. The eggs I got were over easy and they were really watery? Or maybe cooked with oil. Chocolate chip pancakes were good though!

Kristen NeEma G.

Yelp
Service at the Biergarten was FANTASTIC! Mimosa while I wait orange juice to go delicious breakfast

Harvey B.

Yelp
The Magnolia Pancake Haus off Huebner Road in San Antonio had good parking although it is very busy. Several rooms to be seated, so we were at our table pretty quickly. My wife and I had breakfast there at a little after 11 a.m. They do call you and message you. The call came in as a possible SCAM so be advised. They had some very interesting choices that my wife liked. She order the breakfast special, a Lemon-Blueberry Bread-pudding French toast that was amazing. The bacon was cooked just right, not too limp and not burnt. The coffee had a great flavor, perfect temperature, hot and plenty of it, as the hostess left us a fresh pot. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. This is definitely a "family friendly" place, a bit loud at times.

Yelp
We visit every 2 weeks and yesterday was spot on! We were served by Sy, the first waitress to actually talk to us and engage in a conversation while maintaining superior customer service! The food was phenomenal as always, the waffle is truly the creme de la creme being that it's the same flavor as the og pancakes but enhanced due to the airyness and perfect crispness. Please recognize Sy for the amazing experience she gave us, it was the first time we felt seen and truly taken care of!
google avatar

Leonard A.

Yelp
I had not been there in about 7 years but my son was on a cheat day in his diet, so we went. The host say it will be 20 to 35 minutes... we got called at 20 minutes. Service was quick and she was polite. Didn't wait too long for the food but if it was longer, the wait would have been worth it... I had waffles, my son had pancakes and other "breakfast" sides. Food was excellent...everything cooked perfectly... the only downside was it was cold in the dining room... bring a jacket or something to cover up. It is not inexpensive so be ready to drop some bucks...Enjoy!

Johnny C.

Yelp
You call and they say use yelp to join waitlist.. you pull up yelp and it says they turned off waitlist... so much runaround.
google avatar

Rene P.

Yelp
What can i say. It's good food. But not worth the long wait, when you can get mostly the same fare at any breakfast restraunt. Not counting fast food. I came for their corn beef hash and it was good. Pancakes were good and coffee was good. Overall average. There is no plain gravy.
google avatar

Shauna P.

Yelp
Got treated by a friend for my birthday to bananas foster French toast. My French toast was great. I felt a little bad for the boy because there were not many berries on the strawberry Belgian waffle compared to other places I've been. My friend really liked her food (she is vegan, so few options, but the one they had hit the target for her). The decor is quaint, simple, old fashioned. Great service from our waiter.
google avatar

Maria L.

Yelp
Love the Granny Smith apple item. It says on the menu that it takes 10 minutes longer to serve so we ordered that as soon as the server came by the coffee was delicious and we had several refills. The service was nice and courteous, but I definitely recommend the Apple item it is not cake or eggy and full of delicious. Textured apples some crispy, some soft.

L V.

Yelp
The Magnolia Pancake Haus is a well-established restaurant and one of San Antonio's favorites. Come with patience because the waiting time can be a bit long, particularly during the weekend, but once you're in, it's well worth it. Everything is freshly made and absolutely tasty.
google avatar

Patricia G.

Yelp
Please think twice before coming here. Their price gouging is insane. They charge for coffee creamer. Regular and their "sweet" creamer. We've been to other restaurants and do not get charged for regular creamer so why here? Unbelievable. Also, they do not offer senior citizens discounts. So sad especially since today was Grandparents Day. If you are okay with being nickeled and dimed for everything, then this is the place for you! And the comment response left by owner as to why they do not offer discount for seniors /military is even more of a slap in the face. Simply greedy.

Yelp
This place is extremely busy on the weekends. We joined the wait-list on Yelp at about 9:35 am and I think we were 23rd in line. Our check-in time was 10:08 at which point we were 7th on the list. We were seated maybe five minutes later. Our server, Sonya, was just lovely. She was so joyful and friendly and made our experience that much better. The service was a little slow, but I imagine it's because of the volume of people they serve. Sonya brought our coffee and libations. We were left with a carafe of coffee to serve at our leisure. However, we only had one dish of cream. This was fine for the two of us driving coffee, but not if I wanted to drink the entire carafe. I ordered the Magnolia breakfast with scrambled eggs, bacon, hash brown, and buttermilk pancakes. The meal was solid, but not amazing. My eggs were perfectly cooked, but cool, as if they sat waiting for a while to be served. The pancake was delicious, but not ultra fluffy like I was expecting. The hash brown and bacon were typical. Overall, the meal was good. This is definitely a place that can please many different palates, but I'd probably opt for other venues first.
google avatar

Tracy B.

Yelp
VERY GOOD! Stopped in for brunch and they said the wait was 10-15 minutes. We were seated in under five. Service was very nice and the restaurant has a homie feel. The coffee had a great flavor and they leave a carafe of it on your table. The apfel pfannekuchen was very tasty. It is a puffy apple pancake with a crispy crumb outside. It was delicious. The grits were a little bland even with the addition of cheese. Bacon was good. They leave a warm bottle of real maple syrup on the table. Next time we are in town we will definitely be back.

Yelp
Our waitress was wonderful!! She treated us like royalty!! The food.. omg to DIE for!! Tyvm!!! Elizabeth Woods

Yelp
Great vibe! Amazing specials and good quality. Ask for Tawnee! She's an amazing waitstaff with great personality and good recommendations!

Yelp
The food is great, it's worth the wait. The homestyle kitchen feel of a country home and buttery biscuits is why we come.

Yelp
The wait was approximately 45 mins with a line out the door. The service was friendly and efficient. The food was not worth the hype.

Yelp
Oh, you're gonna pay for that! It's been a while since we visited the Magnolia Pancake House. There is still a very long line to get in. There's still no call ahead or reservations. Something that has changed is the menu. Now the prices are absent. You don't know how much you are going to pay until you get the cash register. (Note: There is a QR code that will take you to an online menu with all the prices.) The service was awesome. The food was great. The prices.. well, at $75.00 for three people? The consensus is that none of us will return. After tip, the price was close to %100.00! So that you don't think we ordered enough to feed a large family, I will list what we had: Four biscuits 7.25 Three coffee 9.87 House made creamer .99 (enough for three cups) Chicken and waffle flight 13.75 Eggs Fitzgerald 15.75 Apfel Pfannekuchen 12.95 Side of, (two regular pancakes) not sure of the price.

Yelp
This is a huge restaurant with four different seating areas. We came a little after 1p, so we didn't have a wait and were seated immediately. They initially had us at a table in the middle of the room, but we were able to switch to a booth. They have a large menu with plenty of options. The only downside for us was the lack of breakfast meat alternative options since we don't do red meat or pork. He ordered the banana bread waffle, and I had the Dutch apple pancake. That waffle was delicious and had great flavor. The Dutch pancake is one that is baked in the oven, similarly to the one at Original House of Panckaes. It was good, very tasty, but could have used a little more bread to match the toppings. We also had mimosas and some sides, and those were also good. Service was also friendly and fast! This is a MUST DO if you enjoy breakfast. I'd love to go back and try other waffles the next time.

Yelp
I'm in San Antonio for the week for work, and this place came highly recommended by a coworker. Ate there earlier this week, and had to have it again today before I headed home. Great service and food both times. First time - Bacon waffle was perfectly crispy and delicious with warm house made syrup. Today - Avocado toast with a scrambled egg on the side for some added protein. Loved the sweet/savory flavors in the avocado toast! Don't miss this place!

Yelp
Food is always great, service is friendly, and ambiance is lively. The wait can be long but worth it for quick breakfast/lunch. We tried the Thin Mint creamer and it was great

Yelp
What an experience. THIS is how you get it done folks. 10/10 would do it again. The food was great and when I say great I mean specifically you can see why certain seasonings were used, fresh ingredients were chosen and it tasted like it was made from scratch. I'm no foodie expert, simply someone who enjoys good food and appreciates good customer service. The interior is warm and welcoming while still feeling nice enough for a celebratory brunch or a Sunday family breakfast. Tip: add a touch of honey and a dab of butter to the bread and biscuits for extra comfort

Yelp
If you want a genuine comfort food breakfast, this is the place. Biscuits and gravy were tasty (though the gravy could have been a bit better, but I make my own and am a self-proclaimed gravy snob).

Yelp
We love this place and go there all the time.... Always great customer service and food for some reason my waitlist is no longer working which kind of stinks because it's very popular.
