We're tourists and had breakfast here on a cold January Wednesday. We were one of two parties at 7:30 a.m. The waitperson was welcoming and efficient and the food was very good. Prices were reasonable and they DO (1/2025) take credit cards. Gluten-free toast was an option. The decor is a charming blend of modern and retro, including stamped tin ceilings and upper walls. YMMV, But we loved the place.

The epitome of a small town diner! From the glittery booths to the entry way to the menus to the food, everything about Main Street Cafe is small town loveliness! Try the breaded pork tenderloin sandwich-my favorite and a small town staple!

It’s cool. Take your kids & grandkids here after the Games. The big grand table in the middle sits 20 for your larger parties. Fun classic people can go here to relax for true Americana service without the extra extreme hoopla. Price is $$ so expect a $25 meal for 2 if it’s a date.

Very poor service & long, LONG wait for food! No matter what you order, be prepared for a very long wait to get your food. Check your bill as they occasionally overcharge.

Food was dry and way to salty. Not good for the price. The main dishes cost about the same as a meal any where else BUT, you don't get side like you do every where else. You have to pay extra if you want them so it ended up being twice as expensive as you would think. Not worth it.

The perfect diner! We loved the glitter seats, friendly service, and great food. We manage peanut and treenut allergies. While this restaurant has both, they used extra measures to be sure we could eat safely. Thank you! We will be back again!

Cute little cafe in a cute little town. Very clean and service was wonderful. My husband ordered the keto burrito. The shell was made of grilled cheese and it was delicious!

Yelp
First of all, not a lot of options here in New Harmony, but this is a great place for breakfast with a retro dinner theme and there always seems to be a table of locals discussion the price of soybeans or whatever farmer talk about over coffee. I've eaten here breakfast and lunch a few times and found the food well prepared and the service always attentive. Prices are good but the hours are limited so be aware it's not a 24/7 situation.

Yelp
Do you love home cooking? Stephanie has you covered. They are open Monday through Saturday 6:30-2:30. Most days have a special plate lunch, but a breakfast menu is available until around 10 and then lunch time takes off! Fill your belly with hot pancakes and bacon or maybe a famous omelette for breakfast and then come back for lunch. Some of my favorite lunch specials are Taco Tuesdays, Catfish Fridays, and Meat loaf. Bring the kids and they can finish off lunch with a gourmet ice cream shake!

Yelp
Looking in the window The Main Cafe appears to be a place you want to visit - very clean, well kept, with a retro vibe. Unfortunately that's where the allure stops. No one greeted us when we walked in the door and there's no signage to indicate self-seating, etc. so we grabbed one of three open spots. There were two waitresses on staff - neither particularly speedy. Yet ours somehow managed to move the slowest (the younger of the two) as though she was trudging through molasses. It easily took 10 minutes for her to acknowledge we even sat down, let alone take a drink order. The menu indicates that all breakfast orders must be placed by 10:15am as breakfast service stops at 10:30am. We placed our order at roughly 9:50am - not before I had to flag down our waitress. While essentially every table in the place was full, all tables were at various states of the dining process and the waitstaff was by no means over-burdened. There appeared to be one cook and a dual role busboy/kitchen aide. That said, nothing seemed to flow efficiently. Everyone just sort of walked in circles, really providing poor service to the entire restaurant. Our waitress never did offer a refill - coffee was only offered when the other made a swipe around the room. Wait for it.....40 minutes later we received our food. What did we order you ask?? Two eggs over easy, white toast, one pancake, and a side of bacon. See photos for reference. The table directly behind us was on track to receive the same treatment. Underwhelmed is an understatement. Two stars for cleanliness and presentation, that's all, and frankly that's generous. If you're looking for quick, friendly, and unique, this is not your place. If time is of no concern and you don't mind being ignored, give it a whirl, just be warned.

Yelp
Old fashioned home cooking! Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Really enjoyed our breakfast

Yelp
Beautiful, neat clean little cafe. We had fast friendly service for breakfast. I ordered eggs over medium with bacon, toast and coffee. My husband had steak (German bologna) eggs, fried potatoes, and toast. It was delicious! We would definitely recommend this cafe.

Yelp
We saw the signs for the "antique district" so we pulled in to New Harmony. No antiques but one cafe, open for lunch. I had the veggie soup, my husband had the chicken pot pie, northern beans, and cherry fluff, which I selected. The food was good, but listening to the locals trash the Democrats was hysterical.

Yelp
Depending on the review source, this place gets as high as 4 stars. I struggle to give it 2. The first thing I noticed when walking in was the stained and dirty carpet. Why would you have carpet in a diner type restaurant? My shoes actually stuck to the carpet by our table. I ordered the sausage and cheese omelet and a biscuit. My husband ordered the ham and cheese omelet and toast. The omelet was regular size and nothing special. It had an odd greasy taste as of the grill needs a good cleaning. My biscuit was actually the size of a half dollar, hard and very dense. Not the fluffy homemade type I had hoped for. My husband's omelet was the same as mine. His toast was very thin bread sliced that were hard and crunchy. The place had many locals, mostly men, voicing their dislike of current government and policies. Find a different restaurant for breakfast if you visit New Harmony.

Yelp
A colorful cafe with stamped tin walls and ceiling. There are sandwiches, sides and a special meal for the day. The onion rings were awesome. There are many choices for dessert. I love bread pudding and the cinnamon roll bread pudding was very tasty.

Yelp
Took a trip to new harmony and needed something for lunch. It is a small establishment that was really clean and has very friendly staff. Everything on the menu was low priced, and my girlfriend and I both got grill cheese sandwiches. For how simple of a item it is, it was phenomenal.

Yelp
Stopped here for breakfast while traveling. The food was fine, but nothing special. Quality not we would have liked to have seen. No real butter (cheap margarine), low quality syrups, lukewarm coffee. Some of this could have been overlooked, but the uncleanliness cannot. Dirty, dirty carpet throughout and a bathroom in desperate need of attention. Staff was friendly and attentive.

Yelp
This small town diner has everything you would expect: open super early, generous portions, lots of locals hanging out and friendly staff. I was there for breakfast with my husband, and we each ordered omelettes with a pancake side kicker. The omelettes filled a large oval plate, but were more "egg burritos" than true omelettes, with the ingredients surrounded by an egg wrapping that was a little over-cooked. Sadly the pancake had also spent a few minutes too long on the griddle. With limited breakfast choices in the area, this is about as good as it gets. You won't go away hungry.
