I appreciate visiting this establishment in the morning, acquiring my breakfast and ensuring a healthy lunch. I thoroughly enjoy the chocolate croissant and the salmon cake for lunch. Would definitely recommend!

Today I visited The Main Course & purchased a good size order. All of the employees are always so nice. Today I had the pleasure of seeing Tim. He is most courteous and kind to all customers. Packs the orders so neatly. Such a friendly and professional disposition. He is such an asset to this business. I witnessed him taking orders and was so impressed. Every employee , including Tim, is so welcoming that patrons will always come back. And the food is soooo delicious. I tell all my friends to go here. Keep up the good work.

A gourmet takeout spot that cooks a variety of delicious offerings on site. I found them online and wanted to check them out while we were in town for a long holiday weekend. We ordered a salmon cake, chicken burger, broccoli rabe, corn salad and a pretzel stick to share. It came up to $40. Everything is sold by weight. Every single thing we ordered was absolutely delicious, fresh and very flavorful. My husband and I were both very happy with our meal that we enjoyed al fresco by the Hudson. 5 solid stars; highly recommended!

We worked with The Main Course for lunch on three consecutive days. I worked with them to curate a delicious and nutritious meal for each of the three days. Each day offered up a different tasty meal, complete with proteins, sides and deserts, while accommodating dietary restrictions. The delivery service was prompt and comprehensive, and the provided serving ware was nice. Thank you for taking such good care of our team! We will certainly be working with them again.

We're from out of state and we phone ordered two salmon dinners with baked potatoes, kale salad and dessert cookies to be delivered to some dear friends in town who can't get around easily right now. Wow! So happy I found this place. My husband and I came up from the city to hike yesterday and stopped by here on our way to the trailhead to grab some sandwiches to eat along our hike. Both of our sandwiches were fresh and delicious. When we saw the baked goods, we both had to get one and they were incredible. I'm still dreaming about that berry scone. Will definitely be stopping by here before all of our hikes moving forward. On a side note: you all should make little take away bags/picnic kits for hikers! I loved eating my yummy sandwich with a view at the top and I'm sure others would too!

Their baked goods are so moist, fresh, and delicious. Coffee was also good, and they have multiple non-dairy milk options. Ended up also getting a chicken caesar wrap, which was pretty standard, but definitely generous on the chicken. Lady working behind the counter was so friendly to chat with and even brought us out a fresh banana muffin to try after we were already seated by the window and eating. Space inside and seating is super limited though (2-3 people max), so be prepared to take the food outside to enjoy.

One of the best things about living in this area is we can go to The Main Course anytime we want to! Whether you're looking for a num num for breakfast and strong, "you'll be awake 'til next week" coffee -- or a main dish for lunch or dinner, you won't be disappointed. The food is fresh; the combination of flavors bright and unique. There's a corn and avocado salad that's a fave of mine; they also have chicken burgers that come with a chipotle mayo that's also a staple in our household. Wraps/sandwiches; honestly, we've never been disappointed. Baked goods? Can't go wrong -- but mixed berry muffins and blueberry scones are particular faves. We're proud to be regulars here!

Excellent food, excellent service and wonderful people running the shop!!! We were concerned when original owners weresling . However, the new manager, Christine is doing a terrific job.

I keep trying to really like this place. Some of the things they make are really great. The chicken breast is great, moist and not overcooked and dry, the way it can be in so many places. The apple scone is really good. Some other dishes are very good. But I think I may finally be done with them. I bought a portion of shepherd's pie, which I have gotten before and really enjoyed. I like that they use sweet potatoes for the top of the dish. But today I was very surprised and unhappy to find that the ground beef was seasoned like Mexican food, very hot and spicy. First of all, it's :::Shepherd's Pie:::.....it's not supposed to be hot and spicy! Who's idea was this??? And make it one way or the other. Don't just arbitrarily change the whole flavor of a dish. I don't think anyone would expect that dish to be hot and spicy. Why would they even think to ask?.....it's :::Shepherd's Pie:::. A few weeks ago I got the salmon "burger". It had so much dill in it that you could not taste the fish. Dill should just flavor it, not BE the flavor. It was horrible. Today I got the mushroom barley soup. I tasted it and haven't eaten any more. I'm not sure what the seasoning is that I tasted but it was overpowering. I'd have to actually try and eat some more to decide what that was. They require a $10 minimum to use a credit or debit card so you can't just, for instance, get one scone unless you pay cash, or of course spend more money. No one does this. In 2024 that is ridiculous. And sometimes the people behind the counter are not particularly friendly. The prices are very expensive. They make a certain number of sandwiches at the beginning of the day and when they are gone, you cannot order one to be made. I find that annoying. For those prices we should be able to get the sandwich we want, not one setting there since morning. I think I'm really done with them.

Lovely Ladies serving damn good food! Simple and easy. Very fresh! Wrap was excellent! They're all that! And a bag aid chips!

Grilled chicken wrap was inedible: - Mushy, mealy tomato slices - Chicken poorly seasoned with chewy end pieces - Avocado non-ripe After one bite I knew I couldn't eat it and brought it back inside to see if I could exchange it for another sandwich. They said no (I actually gave them a tip on the first purchase). Pretty surprising to hear that response from an organization but likely because the place may be cash strapped; which explains the poor food. Very bad experience won't be coming back here again.

The Main Course has consistently delicious, fresh food. In particular their chicken Caesar wraps and Asian tandoori wraps are outstanding. All of their sandwiches and prepared food is excellent and their staff could not be more helpful.

The Desmond Fish Library would like to thank The Main Course for its donation of delicious scones for our recent Board meeting (first in-person meeting in over a year!) Everybody here adores their food, and we just can't have a meeting without those scones!!!

Excellent food, reasonable prices and good portions. It's basically self-service where they cook the already prepared food to order. The wait staff is very professional and polite. It's a nice place for a change of pace.

After my hike I needed some quick eats, and this was perfect! Was basically like a home cooked meal! Super tasty and the girls were super nice! Definitely recommend the veggie chili and the cinnamon roll tea loaf, both were so good :)

Absolute disappointment. Any positive reviews are confusing, and here's why: the place feels dirty when you enter. The woman at the counter was extremely rude. The "mocha" was literally chocolate poured into a cup of black coffee poured from a coffee carafe. And to top it off, they have the audacity to require a $10 minimum to use a card in 2021. This coupled with inflated prices for subpar food has to be the ONLY way they stay in business- that and the locals who refuse to go elsewhere due to convenience. Save yourself a trip here and just venture to the superior Cold Spring Coffeehouse.

THE BEST salads, sandwiches, prepared foods for takeout in all of Cold Spring (and Beacon.) The quality of the ingredients for a takeout food shop is outstanding. I'm addicted to the potato salad! Their bean, chicken, egg salads, the coleslaw (reminds me of those great, old Jewish Deli's in the Bronx), cannot be beat. Thanks Main Course for being here and for serving our community!

I've lived in Coldspring for over 20yrs and have been in the Main Course more times then I can count, I've always had a great experience and have loved everything that I've purchased from food to desserts. I absolutely LOVE Christine who is super sweet and always extremely helpful in making sure I get the things I like, She's the BEST!!! But the last few times I've gone in there I've been extremely disturbed by the language I hear from the other woman (I don't want to say her name out of respect for the owner) she's very rude and has a nasty attitude. All I hear is the "F" word and it gives me a bad feeling, I don't like to be around that type of energy. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has encountered her but it's making my experience not as pleasurable and I don't go as often which is sad because I love the food! I do hope they address this problem because it's extremely unprofessional in such a small space that caters to so many in the town!

In a strip mall off the main road but worth the detour on our way to the trail. Grabbed a sandwich for the road and it was perfect. Good portion size, delicious.

This place is a remarkable find. Gourmet, health conscious and delicious. Absolutely amazing food and baked goods selection.

My family and I usually go to Main Course when we are in the area. I was with my mother and sister and right when we entered this women that was working was very rude towards us from the start. It got to a point were we didn't want anything from there since she was very sarcastic and obnoxious and made us feel very uncomfortable. How can someone who is in retail have no respect for their customers ? Maybe they need more training in this aspect of the job, I don't know. This is absurd and something should be done about this employee. There has been multiple occasions about the same women and how she is very rude as well. I wish I could give 0 stars because it was a very bad experience for us.

DON'T EAT HERE. THE FOOD MAY MAKE YOU & YOUR FAMILY SICK. I was a fan of the food here until I bought the Chinese chicken salad, had it for dinner, and became violently ill last night. Took the day off from work to get this out of my system. Have intense abdominal pain, can't stop sweating or vomiting, I feel just awful. I know what food poisoning feels like & this is it. I didn't want anyone else to get sick so I called the Main Course this morning to advise them to pull the chicken salad from their case. The woman I spoke with said that since no one else had complained & I must be mistaken. What? Are you serious? How is that helpful? I am puking my guts out, it's from your disgusting food, I was trying to be helpful & didn't give you a hard time about your rancid ingredients so I don't appreciate the way this woman handled the situation. I am offended in addition to being sick. And the funny thing is, had the employee handled this better, I probably would have continued to do business with the Main Course despite this mishap. Now I know better. I went from liking the food here to never wanting to shop here again. You've lost my business & I am going to tell every person I know what happened. I will also post and repost this message on every social media site available to get the word out. They officially get 0 stars from me.

Three Words: Tuscan Bean Salad. It's not Campbell's Soup that "mm-mm-good," it's this place.

The. Best. I have never had a single thing that I didn't absolutely love! The veggie chili is probably the best I've ever had anywhere, you wouldn't even know it was meatless they make it so rich and packed with great flavor! The cole slaw there is perfect, not overly mayo-ed but not dry and still has a little bite to it. But the Tuscan sandwich is my favorite thing on the menu without question! Quality of food is consistent, and service is charming and helpful. Would definitely recommend stopping in if you haven't already!

I've been a customer for both my job and myself for 20 years, never am I disappointed. Everything is fresh, delicious and served with a smile. I recommend it to anyone who asks where they can get a meal to take home, work or a day out. The main dishes, sides, sandwiches and desserts are all worth the price, high quality ingredients. Love this place!

Food is lovely, fresh and tasty, I love their scones and salads. Healthy options and I can't really comment on the sandwich, but everything else, cookies(jam) and Tuna salad, beet salad and glazed carrots are fabulous

The food was great tasted fresh, best scones I have tasted since I have been on the Mounteneer in Canada this is place is just as great as that train ride and that was FIRST CLASS a little pricey but worth it when you think of what it cost at Burger King for fries, burger and a soda and that is not healthy. This will be my next go to place in Putnam County

Just what I was looking for. Tasty sandwich (lucky I got one - they are pre made and sell out apparently) they also look like they have some other tasty take away.

Best gourmet take out you will find in the area! Delicious scones and overall really delicious food. Not to be missed!

This a nice little place that pumps out some great food. The service is exceptional and they never seem to forget a familiar face. There has been numerous occasions when I wanted something out-side of the box, and sure enough, my cravings have always been met. As for the pricing, well lets just say, "you pay for what you get". The quality of foods that is offered is indeed of a higher quality, therefor the price structure might be justifiable.

Excellent First time visit, the food and service was phenomenal, I will definitely visit this place again when I am back in Cold Spring!

All of the food here is fresh and delicious. I love the wraps, kale salad and the deserts. You can assume everything you order will be good. A true gem.

Best scones ever! Good coffee! Nice people, good service and delicious food - sure beats Dunkin' Donuts!

Who is lauding this place! Hmmm, where to begin? Probably with the food: one word--uninspired. Another word--tasteless. Third word--oh-so-overpriced (hey, it's hyphenated). Now that we've covered the primary reasons not to eat here, i.e., the food, let's discuss the help. This is a town of preternaturally nice people. Very Truman Show, or Mayberry for the older among us. There is a force field around this place that prevents nice from entering. Or a sign I missed that says, "all who enter prepare to be treated with a scowl". Unless, of course, you are a known customer; Gotta make those house payments somehow. Good thing they're the only "high-end" prepared food store in town. I'd hate to think how hard it would be for so many rude people to find another job.

We used to love this place until we went in with our kids and the owner yelled at me & my 2 year old son for running his fingers down the glass of his pastry case. He is 2 and still exploring everything around him. The owner could of asked me nicely for him to please stop but he was a lil nasty and complained "common really stop that we try to keep our glass clean we don't need your dirty fingers all over it" I was in shock and didn't say anything and my son was obviously upset and hiding his face after bc he thought he did something really bad by the tone of the mans voice. I will no longer be spending my money locally at this place.

lasagna (like moms), olive/mozzarella salad, coriander soup - somebody here loves their job - an easy 5 stars

A bit on the expensive side but worth it. Always reliable, consistent, delicious wraps, prepared salads and sandwiches, muffins, scones, etc. My personal favorites are the hummus wrap and herbed tuna salad. I'd eat it every day if I could!

I've been eating their sandwiches for 10 years and they can't be beat. Great ingredients, well combined and reasonably priced. Strong coffee too!

BEST coffee, anywhere. The wide variety of food is always fresh, high quality and delicious. Many healthy choices and lots of great options for vegetarians (a major plus for me). Staff is super friendly. A little pricy but definitely worth it.

I can't say much about the food because every time I go in there I am talked to in a belittling way and made to feel like my business is not valued. First time I ever tried to order food from there I wasn't sure how it worked so I tried to order something off the board and before I finished speaking was rebuffed by the person behind the counter that "anything we have is already made right in front of you in the display" I'm an overly friendly person and I always give people the benefit of the doubt first time around, but this is the fifth time around. I've worked in customer service for a very long time and I would think about running my business a little differently. My friends have warned me not to bother with this place, now I understand.
