First time in Memphis, parked around Beale street, and walked around main street to dine in this very good diner restaurant. Majestic grille has a lot of good food selections. The pork back ribs was really good, perfectly cooked and the meat was very tender. A wide selections of wine, and also great burger.

Google
Food was very good, although they under cooked my steak. Ribs weren’t fall of the bone but they still had a great flavor. A little bit of a sweet taste. Clam chowder was very salty but I enjoyed it. Side dishes (broccolini and spinach) were very oily but they had good flavor. Our waitress (Henry) was very good and sweet. Ambiance is great. A little movie is playing in the background the whole time. Very dark, quiet, and intimate in there.

Everyone, as promised… I came to Majestic Grille for dinner these are the same owners to my previous review Cocozza, was welcomed by the staff and proceeded to the bar. Ordered a glass of red blend, and went straight to dinner. I ordered 8oz. Filet mignon medium of course with some garlic mash. Wow! The food was amazing, the steak had that distinct grill flavor as I wanted to stay classic on the flavor; the mash was very tasteful and creamy. These guys put nothing but heart & soul into their dishes! The restaurant is so elegant and beautiful to match the ambience which has plenty of room for guests. Both restaurants are not far from each other so if you are in the Downtown Memphis area, pencil these great places in! You will love them!!! Thanks guys! I suggest reservations if more than one person.

We stopped for dinner on a Sunday in August. We sat at a booth. Our server was polite and attentive. The food was very good. We had two side salads and shared a seafood pasta dish. The atmosphere was laid back and easygoing. We walked from the hotel so not sure on parking but I’m assuming street parking. I think this was one of the best meals we had while in Memphis.

Google
One of my favorite places to grab dinner, downtown. The atmosphere is always so nice, not too loud but not too quiet and stuffy. I love how decked out it is, at Christmas!! Park in the parking garage and pay before you leave (less charges).

Google
Food was great! We ordered Ribeye, chicken pizza, shrimp and scallops spaghetti, kid’s burger and kid’s pasta. All were delicious! My 12 years old gave 6 stars out of 5… his opinion, 5 would be underrated… so he needs to give 6!

Google
We were staying in downtown Memphis and found The Majestic Grill online. Close to the hotel so we went over and had no problem getting a table. The restaurant has a 30s or 40s retro vibe which was appealing. Tables were on several levels, and there is a second floor level. One feature is a large overhead screen that plays old, black and white silent movies. The service was above average but not outstanding. Our server seemed uncomfortable in his interactions. He actually carded me, and I can say it was decades ago since I was 21! Food was middling. One of us, a vegetarian, ordered the salad and it was basically a pile of lettuce with a few apple strips, some lines of dressing, etc. Very unsatisfying. I ordered pork chops, carrots and mashed potatoes. For the price, the dish was disappointing. The awesome desserts we saw listed in the online menu were not available. Another disappointment. The cocktail was delicious! Parking would be in a garage. The block this restaurant was on was a pedestrian walk through.

Popped in while waiting on reservations at another location. But ended up grabbing a cocktail(gimlet) and a tasty appetizer(egg rolls). While be back for a longer dining experience.

Yelp
Good was wonderful, along with good service. Restaurant was crowded pre Orpheum Theatre . Very good

Yelp
[This was ordered off of a limited menu during a private event and may not be available to all guests] The cesar salad, not pictured, was fantastic. It was already tossed in some of the best cesar dressing I have had when it arrived. I was expecting the pork tenderloin to be pretty savory despite the glaze, but it was overwhelmingly sweet which I wasn't a huge fan of. However, the quality and cooking of the meat was great. The mashed potatoes were awesome. Service was great. The private room was the perfect size for our group. I highly recommend them for a private dinner.

Yelp
Great place to stop before seeing a show at the Orpheum. Very good food and service, really interesting re-use of an old theater. Would go again.

Yelp
We selected this restaurant out of convenience. We had such a pleasantly amazing meal with the added bonus of a delightful eating experience. We ate outdoors and enjoyed the gorgeous evening. The drinks and food were all fantastic! The service was great. They were very attentive to our little humans needs.

Yelp
Majestic Grille is a cool downtown restaurant operating in an old theatre. The food is better than it looks, the service is solid, and the wine selection is rather strong for this price point. I found, however, that the cocktails aren't too great. Definitely a spot worth trying if you find yourself downtown.

Charlisha G.

Yelp
Nestled in vintage charm, this establishment exudes beauty. Our gracious server provided impeccable service, enhancing our dining experience. While most dishes pleased our palates, the Cajun chicken egg rolls stole the show. The spinach dip, though less creamy than expected, offered a unique twist, sparking varied reactions among our group. The dessert flight evoked mixed emotions: - Chocolate mousse: a decadent treat, earning a solid 9/10. - Oreo crust: a satisfying choice, garnering a respectable 7/10. - Carrot cake: a flawless delight, deserving a perfect 10/10. - Cheesecake: a delectable option, earning an 8/10. - Key lime: a fair choice, receiving a middling 5/10. - Lemon: a less favored option, scoring a modest 2/10. Overall, a delightful culinary journey with a few surprises along the way.

Yelp
Food was great Piped in music annoying Very comfy seats and wood tables Spinach and artichoke dip had a bit more bread crumbs than I expected. Steak was tender and well awaken and cooked very nicely cooked.

Yelp
I have been to Majestic Grill on multiple occasions, and while it may not be my personal top choice, it remains a popular spot in the downtown area. The restaurant boasts a spacious interior and an extensive menu that caters to various tastes. The variety of items on the menu is impressive, ranging from classic burgers to flavorful flatbreads and seafood pasta. I have tried a few dishes myself, including the burger, flatbread, and seafood pasta. However, I found the overall quality of the food to be mediocre. It didn't quite meet my expectations in terms of taste and presentation. The service at Majestic Grill is also average. While the staff is courteous and attentive, it lacks the extra touch that would make the dining experience truly exceptional. I have mainly visited the restaurant upon the recommendation of colleagues or others, rather than choosing it myself. One aspect that stands out at Majestic Grill is their private rooms, which are perfect for events like baby showers. These private spaces offer a fixed menu, ensuring a hassle-free experience for the guests. Despite my personal reservations, I must acknowledge that Majestic Grill has managed to maintain its popularity in the downtown area. It is always bustling with customers, which indicates that there is a market for their basic American food and average service. In conclusion, if you are someone who enjoys simple American cuisine and doesn't mind average service, Majestic Grill is worth a visit. However, if you are seeking a more exceptional dining experience, there may be other options in town that better suit your preferences

Yelp
My family and I enjoyed another delicious meal at Majestic Grille last night. The restaurant is elegantly appointed all year long but absolutely gorgeous at Christmas Time! Andrea was our server last night and she was a true joy. She was well versed on the food and drink menu and walked us through the specials and recent menu changes with ease. She was attentive throughout dinner. Our food was delicious: Scallop and shrimp spaghettini for me, Grilled cheese for hubby Roasted half chicken for kiddo +Cajun chicken egg rolls to start +Mini desserts to end (we had lemon cheesecake (megh), tiramisu (yum) and strawberry shortcake (yum yum). Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience from the friendly hostess throughout!

Yelp
I went here while on business travel in Memphis. I ordered a roasted veggie and rice dish that was an entree. It was very good.

Kleopatra G.

Yelp
One of the most consistent restaurants in Memphis. Always a go to spot when I'm in town. They have a great lunch menu that goes until 4pm. Drinks are always top notch as well. A great place to go if you're in downtown.

Mark M.

Yelp
My family has gone here several times over the years and I always walk away feeling it was just OK. I do like the atmosphere in the place and the old timey movies they play, that would be my biggest compliment. The service is usually very good as well. Food wise, I feel that the options are limited and pretty safe. The portions are very average but of course you are paying fine dining premium for it. I personally go away from here thinking I could cook whatever I ate and be just as pleased with more money left in my pocket.

Bill T.

Yelp
Yelp never lets me down. I needed a place for lunch before a conference and this popped right up so my co-worker and I headed there for a bite. The staff was so friendly that we immediately felt welcome. The inside is very nicely designed and I liked the bar area, the lower seating area as well as the balcony dining. It all looked functional and cool. The food was great as well. I had a chicken sandwich that was very tasty. It was piping hot and a generous portion to boot. The accompanying fries were also tasty. To top it off, lunch prices were extremely affordable. Comparing to New York City, it was a bargain! I'm sad I didn't have the chance to go back for dinner, as the menu looked great and I would have loved to try a cocktail or two. Definitely a place to check out.

Leigh N.

Yelp
The service was great! Atmosphere is great! The food was less than mid. & definitely pricey!!! We went for the atmosphere and old movies that are played..My mother was with us and she doesn't walk well so we sat on the first floor. I don't get this tho...Why are you going to put two huge plants in the way of the movie screen? I would definitely move those! What we ordered. Filet & fries burger & fries Ribs with coleslaw (wouldn't recommend) Brussels. Nay. Spinach dip. Dry. beignets. Nothing is like NOLA. The burgers were good but I wouldn't go back for a $16 burger. The best thing we had were the parm fries. Our waitress was very pleasant.

Lameisha P.

Yelp
Food: Delish! Not one complaint at all! Service: very attentive and he even solved three ant problem we had on the patio when we let him know about our little problem. Didn't even have to move. Offered mocktail options for me as I could partake in the mimosas. I had a mimosa that was made with ginger beer. Ambiance: nice inside and out, but chose the patio since the weather was great! They had dana running as well. I would have given 5 stars, but I was taken aback by the 20% service charge. For that charge and the tip it was 1/3 of our bill. Wasn't too happy about that. We were supposed to go back for dinner. But that was a huge deterrent for me. It was two people and just didn't see why a 20% service charge was warranted. I've paid 5% or less, but not 20%.

Rebekah V.

Yelp
Great food, friendly staff, cool atmosphere! It's located in an old movie theatre, which added some very neat ambiance. Would recommend!

Bart D.

Yelp
I recommend the fish any fish and the vegetables were excellent service was good and of course so with the food just a little pricey but other than that and great experience!

Tk A.

Yelp
Oh my goodness. Delicious. Crazy good. Also known as Little Caesars. We haven't been here in a while. We are glad we stopped. Come check it out.

Chuk V.

Yelp
We came here for lunch. The building is very historic with a fun twist. It's an old one screen movie theater converted into a restaurant and bar. This effect is quite cool. The service was good and the food was fine. We had standard lunch fare - wraps and a Cobb salad with chicken. My mind was not blown but would lunch here again.

Shane M.

Yelp
Attended New Year's Eve 2024, service was great, clean restrooms, meal was cooked perfect seared tuna, salmon, beef Wellington entrées, we're all great choices. Will dine here again in the future.

Mike L.

Yelp
When you order an over $50 steak, ask for medium, and you get RARE! You get a two. Chef is not good at cooking steaks, no clue. Flavors were there with peppercorn and the whiskey glaze, but had to cut out half the steak out just to be able to eat it. At this price it should be correct. SO disappointed. Brussels ok, garlic mash as expected. Mixed drinks good. Service great. Front desk was very accommodating as we had a large party and they fixed it quick on a Saturday. The positives got this place a three instead of a two, but fix the steak right. You are a high dollar place, make it right.

Tony S.

Yelp
Our favorite place to eat downtown. We have been coming for 20 years, and look forward to the one of a kind ambiance. Food and service is good also.

Sam H.

Yelp
This was a great place to wrap up our time in Memphis. The drinks were great. Loved the tequila sunset, the Manhattan and were not fans of the watermelon refresher. We ordered a flatbread for an appeatizer, and could have done without that. Tasted middle of the road. Everything else from the ambiance to the food and service were great. Our server Allison took great care of us and provide solid recommendations. For the main course, we went with the filets and ravioli. Both were delicious. The steaks were cooked exactly how we wanted. Desert was well portioned and yummy. We will definitely be back if we are in Memphis.

Ryan D.

Yelp
I adore this place. It's walking distance from most downtown areas and the building itself is so well done. Any meal here is delicious and fairly priced. I highly suggest their brunch but also love their burgers! I've always had a great experience with the service here and it's become my go-to for when we don't feel like cooking. If you're visiting Memphis, sit on the patio! You can watch the trolley pass by and take in Main Street

Rebecca C.

Yelp
Ate at the bar. Good service, beautiful atmosphere/decor, very sophisticated. I had the harissa grilled chicken and my husband had scallops. Excellent cocktails also

Marissa J.

Yelp
The food was just alright. It was near our hotel and it was snowing so we just chose it. Its a cool restaurant but the food could be better. I got avocado toast which was a little bland. The steak was also a little overcooked with the steak and eggs.

Alex A.

Yelp
A great spot in the heart of downtown. It manages to capture the ambience of a speakeasy with a cinema inspired backdrop from an era long before my time. I've been here a few times and it's always been a solid choice. From steaks to hamburgers and everything in between, the food is outstanding. I had the Bacon Bleu burger with some parm fries over a recent visit and every bit of it was good. The service was top notch and the staff was very nice too. A worthwhile spot!

Mary G.

Yelp
Wonderful experience.Had the New York strip grilled perfectly but a little chewy . One of my favorite Caesar salads ever. My wife's girly drink was good and mine the Majestic was good also. But the service . Let's say I'm hard to please and it was a 10 out of 10 . Just wish I knew the bartender's name because he was fantastic. Highly recommend . If by chance you are going to the Orpheum for a play it's two blocks away . We stayed at the Westin will give a review tomorrow. Give the Majestic a try when downtown. Also recommend just sitting at the bar best service no wait and very attentive staff.

Ana M.

Yelp
This is a great place for an upscale date night. It's located in the old majestic theater number 1. It plays silent pictures as u enjoy ur meal. Service is quick and the food is exceptional. I recommend the salmon rice and asparagus. You won't regret it. They have a full bar and an extensive wine list as well. I definitely recommend thr majestic grille.

Ben L.

Yelp
This is a must stop when in Memphis! You must get the egg rolls they were to die for! The raviolis were amazing and the special haddock and shrimp was top 10 meals I've ever had. Service and ambiance was perfect- this place has soul!

Jeremy M.

Yelp
The atmosphere was fantastic. Dark hardwood floors. Silent movie playing in the background. Food was terrific. I had the special New York cheesesteak and wife had a grilled cheese both with fries. Only slight snafu was fries were advertised as "Parmesan fries." I think ours might have missed the dusting. But, no worries Michael our server brought out a fresh batch. I definitely recommend checking it out if you're in Memphis.

Tommy L.

Yelp
Nice welcome and quick seating. We started with the charcuterie board and Pinot Grigio. Calamari was delicious! Bonus, it included okra!

Lizzy G.

Yelp
Majestic never disappoints. Except for today, when I learned they no longer carry Brussel sprouts. While this was devastating news, my salmon entree was delicious. My husband ordered the cheese ravioli and added blackened chicken. He said it was fabulous and that he would order it again. The ambience is calm and romantic. We love coming here whenever we're downtown.

Paul M.

Yelp
My wife and I unfortunately are gluten free . We arrived tonight in downtown Memphis after a 703 mile drive from Amarillo, Texas. We ordered take out from the Majestic Grille and the food was delicious. We are foodies and I would rate the food as one of the best take put quality foods that we have experienced. I had the pleasure of meeting many of the employees at this fine establishment and they were enriching and most pleasant. These folks autograph their work and enjoy working here My only regret is that we didn't dine in as the restaurant is iconic. Hats off to The Majestic Grille and keep up the excellent work as it is very much appreciated!

C W.

Yelp
Food was cold when it came out. Appetizer was recommended but not very good. Service was decent for the time of day I visited, was one other couple in the restaurant .That is why I was surprised the food was cold when it came out. Will I return? Probably not.I expected so much more for the price.

Hunter S.

Yelp
Classy place in an old theater that plays movies while you dine. I had the chilled salmon as an appetizer, served with a creole mustard sauce, capers, onions, greens, and crostini. It was light, salty, refreshing, and a perfect appetizer on a hot day. I then followed with the cheese ravioli, which is also on the dinner menu. It was a large serving, and was accompanied by sun-dried tomatoes and goat cheese, as well as pine nuts (optional). Small cocktail list, but a wide variety for all tastes. Gin, vodka, whiskey based drinks etc. I had a mango margarita and a strawberry ginger cooler. Both clean, not overly sweet, and again, perfect for a sultry summer day. Service was excellent. Atmosphere quiet and understated, and though busy, not loud. Attire disclaimer: I stopped in at lunch and was wearing a t shirt and sweats (I always travel in comfort). I was greeted warmly and my server was wonderful and attentive. What I perceived to be the floor manager checked in with me a few times. I was treated well by all, but I do want to remark I saw a stack of cards on the host stand that read something along the lines of "attire standards," or something similar. I did not pick them up to read. About a year ago, a TripAdvisor patron asked about dress code and a manager replied all types welcome and "come as you are." Anyway, just something to consider, you may want to call ahead for dinner, but at least for the lunch service, my dress didn't have any effect. I really enjoyed it here and would come again, as well as try their dinner service.

Ashley N.

Yelp
The service was great! From the hostess to the wait staff, everybody was nice and efficient. The atmosphere is nice too with the old movies and music playing. However, most of the food was just okay. Honestly, the item that wowed us the most was the free bread. Not a single food item was bad, but not a single item was incredible either.

Roger G.

Yelp
Friendly service with some good tasting food! The seafood gumbo was delicious alongside a cheese Steak sandwich, very nicely decorated restaurant upscale casual with reasonably priced food.

Olivia F.

Yelp
The 2 is for the horrible treatment by the manager. Enjoyed food and service. I like the Majestic and thought I'd invite my friends Cindy and Theo to join us for the downtown dining week deal. Theo dropped us off and went to park ($1 parking deal for DTD week). Theo wasn't able to get the discount so he called the Majestic. The manager responded by saying that there is NO affiliation with their restaurant and the parking company. I managed a business. The professional response wasn't go F yourself. A good manager would have said something along the line of, I'm sorry for your troubles. As soon as I can look into it I will. He could have easily said, if you park near us at Peabody parking we'll be happy to validate your parking. When our waitress came to the table Theo repeated to her what happened. He was clearly annoyed. We were seated outside. At that point a man dressed as a farm hand rushed out to our table (turned out to be the manager). He loudly accused us of berating his wait staff and he could not have been a worse manager. It was upsetting for all of us to be shouted at by this guy. We were a party of 5. My Mom is 90 and isn't able to mobilize to another location with ease so we decided to stay for that reason. What could have been a very nice dinner was truly spoiled by this awful manager.

Shawnia S.

Yelp
In town for touristy stuff and we really wanted a nice dinner. Surprisingly we were able to get a reservation late in the evening for this highly recommended place. Our server was amazing, menu satisfied our cravings 100%. I had the shrimp & mushroom linguini with Alfredo and my husband had the special that night which was the baked halibut. Great couple of glasses and wine to go with the great atmosphere .... old black and white movies playing on the back wall. Dessert topped our perfect night off with so many flavors! I wish we had a Majestic in Idaho.... What a gem!

Del O.

Yelp
Great spot for a quick lunch! The salmon was tender and fresh. We were seated immediately with no reservation and the service was fantastic. We let the waiter know we were in a rush and he was very respectful of our time.

Betsy M.

Yelp
On a weekend getaway trip to Memphis, we decided to make a reservation here due the the historical background...plus we live steaks. We happened to be in the area about an hour before our reservation and decided to see if they could seat us early, which amazingly was an accommodation they could make! We were seated in a booth on the wall (score) in their lovely dining room. Our server popped over quickly with waters and took our cocktail order, a couple of house bourbon concoctions. We ordered a Caesar Salad to share, each had the 8 oz filet (mine was au poivre) and an order of sautéed spinach. The food was delicious and well prepared, all of it including my fries! They do have bread they bring which are cut in smaller pieces and realllllllllly good. It was some sort of white bread, ask for it if they don't automatically bring to your table. Our server was incredibly attentive and checked in on us often, but not too often. The whole experience was wonderful.

Lori D.

Yelp
Stopped in prior to a play at the Orpheum. Great little spot within walking distance. Sat at the bar where the bartender took amazing care of me! Drinks were great and so were his recommendations. On to the food.. y'all... My filet mignon was excellently prepared and seasoned. Juicy, tender, with just a lil bit of fat. Mashed potatoes were also great. But guys.... Why were those brussel sprouts sooo good?! What did they do?? They're brussel sprouts! They're supposed to be basic Overall, it was damn good food and a great atmosphere. I'll definitely be back. (Gotta try the chicken egg rolls) SN: manager came by to apologize for being short staffed I didn't even notice! Top tier service

Jay S.

Yelp
The staff was attentive and pleasant, steak was pretty good-quality was just ok, flavor was ok, plain but herb butter helped. The sides of garlic mashed potatoes and mushrooms were best part of dish. Both very flavorful. Was a bit pricey for the meal, but was tasty. Only other thing was it was a bit muggy and hot in building, but we loved the old cinema atmosphere.

Denise K.

Yelp
Amazing food and vibe!! One of my faves places to go eat when I'm in town! One of my faves

J A.

Yelp
We had a great lunch at this place. We went during restaurant week and had Mike as our server. He was a blast to be around. I got a burger and loved it. My Coworkers got the eggplant Parm sandwich which was the special and loved it too. It was a HUGE portion and they got to take half home for dinner. They didn't have lemonade and I'm a child in that manner so I was sad there but otherwise, it's hard to complain about our experience.

Macey S.

Yelp
Service was horrible. We were treated very rudely for not having a reservation (even tho they did seat us quickly). Waited quite awhile to put our order in, so when I asked the hostess if we could order, she was incredibly rude asking "are you serious?". Waited an hour for food, then never had requested condiments brought to us (even by the manager himself). Will not be going back. Shame since the food was actually really delicious!

A H.

Yelp
We love The Majestic for post Orpheum dining. I have to be honest though we get the exact same meal every-time we go....the grilled cheese. We also enjoy the Southwest egg rolls for a starter. But the main reason we go is because we like the bar staff, the are friendly and personable which makes a huge difference in turning a good restaurant to a great experience. I also really like the ambiance it's dark with well placed lighting at the bar and tables which gives it an intimate quality I enjoy.
