The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur, Autograph Collection (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Hotel Majestic, as it was once known, is an establishment rich in history. Built in 1932, it found great popularity in the interwar years and has since been resurrected by the Autograph Collection, Marriot’s sub-brand specializing in notable properties like this. As you enter its striking circular lobby, it becomes clear the designers have embraced modernity without sacrificing the original grandeur. Historical touches shine through amidst the contemporary comforts, such as the Reading Room with its deep colors and plush upholstery." - Tablet Hotels

The Majestic Hotel is one of my go-to stays in KL. The rooms are spacious, beautifully designed, and the heritage charm is wonderfully preserved. Despite its age, the hotel is well maintained and exudes timeless elegance. I always enjoy evenings at the Colonial Café - great ambiance, and the live music by Isabel Soliano and the Solianos never disappoints. During my recent visit, I made a mistake with my reservation and arrived without a confirmed room. The hotel was fully booked, but Mr. Sakib at the front desk went the extra mile to sort things out and managed to find me a room. What truly impressive me was also an upgrade to the Grand Suite at my original reserved price. Special thanks as well to the security team - Aman, Yu, and another colleague (whose name I didn’t catch) - who helped us with car trouble after check-out. Aman even went out to buy a new battery for us. Their kindness and effort were above and beyond. While some of the younger, inexperienced staff could benefit from more training, overall I know I can always rely on The Majestic when it counts. Looking forward to returning.

Overall Impressions: The Majestic Hotel KL consistently receives high praise for its colonial charm, spacious rooms, and historical ambiance. Here's what recent guests and travel sites highlight: Atmosphere & Design Guests love the hotel's nostalgic, colonial aesthetic with art-deco touches—especially in the renovated Majestic Wing. The lobby exudes elegance with marbled floors, floral centerpieces, and grand colonial décor. Room Quality & Comfort Many describe the rooms as clean, very spacious, and equipped with luxurious features like large bathtubs. Some guests share experiences of complimentary upgrades to suites. Service & Staff Most reviews praise the friendly, attentive staff, including working butlers in certain suites and exceptional problem resolution—even mid-stay follower-up from management was commended.

It certainly was a pleasure to be in a historic building, the staff was attentive, the room elegant, the lobby has beautiful flowers and is sparkling clean. I was bothered by a strong cigarette smoke smell in the hallways in the hotel. Also, the pool was closed on the day when I stayed there and nobody was particularly sorry about that. Too bad. Soap was sometimes replaced, sometimes not. The general feeling was that the hotel was just ok. It could be excellent, which it is not. |When you get there, ask for a high floor on the front side of the building, you will get a nice view of the train station and the Merdeka 118.

My wife and I stayed at the Majestic for a night and truly enjoyed the experience. The place is oozing with colonial charm, starting with the cute appearance of the footman in front down to exotic tea served among orchids and what not. We had dinner with friends at their dining hall and a wonderful breakfast buffet in the morning. Quite a place!!

I recently stayed at the Hotel Majestic KL and was thoroughly impressed. The colonial charm of the building is beautifully preserved, giving it a timeless elegance. My room in the Majestic Wing was spacious, clean, and luxuriously appointed, with excellent attention to detail. The staff were consistently warm, professional, and attentive throughout my stay. I particularly enjoyed the afternoon tea. The location is central, making it easy to explore the city. Highly recommend for those seeking a blend of heritage and comfort.

Excellent hotel. Feels decadent. We had the Colonial Suite in the original “Majestic” Wing which I would definitely recommend. Very spacious and wonderfully quiet. No road or noise of any kind. Buffet breakfast excellent. So much choice. Hotel location perfect. Walkable to Perdana Botanical Park, Central Mkt etc. Enjoyed a drink in the Colonial Lounge with live 1920’s music. Just perfect.

Absolutely wonderful bubble of luxury in the middle of bustling capital. The Majestic has classic elegance in all its best, but with the modern touches of extra spacious quiet rooms. Particularly impressed with the immaculate service and warmth of hospitality of Syed today as soon as I arrived at reception. Rarely is service as sophisticated and effective. He is a natural in this business and went through extra mile to ensure our comfort. Seriously impressed and please pass on my thanks. We will definitely keep making this hotel our home away from home !

My sister and I stayed here for 3 nights stopover at the start of our Australia/New Zealand holiday. A lovely Grand hotel and we felt very relaxed and welcomed here for our stay. Our room was spacious and comfortable. As we were suffering from jet lag for our first day, we didn't do much then but we did visit the Bird Park on our last day which was a short walk from the hotel - very good and interesting. We had also booked a tour of Kuala Lumpur before our arrival which was so good as we didn't feel much like 'doing it ourselves' in the short time we had in KL. Normally we are great walkers and happy to find our way round but this hotel did seem to be a little bit out from the centre of KL but suited us perfectly.|The breakfast lounge was very good with a vast selection of offerings. We also ate there in the evenings - a buffet offering which had delicious choices.|The staff were a delight and we couldn't have asked for a better start to our holiday and thrilled at what KL had to offer.

Yelp
We stayed in The Majestic for one night on a stopover in Kuala Lumpur. The hotel has a very nice appearance. The feeling is definitely grand. However, the service, whilst efficient, is not necessarily with a smile, the lifts are temperamental, the room service menu limited, the bathroom strange and the road noise quite noticeable. All minor, but downgrading a 5-star experience to 4 stars.

Yelp
The Majestic Kuala Lumpur is one of the nicest hotels I have ever has the pleasure to stay at. It is a historic hotel, built in 1932 that has maintained a sense of glamour and luxury over the years. The check-in experience was easy and all of the service we received throughout our trip was exceptional. The room itself was spacious and clean with a large window that gave us a great view of the area. The bathroom was my favourite part with a large bathtub, two sinks, and a rainfall shower. We treated ourselves to their breakfast buffet on our last morning and immediately regretted we hadn't taken advantage of it multiple times. They served a variety of local, Chinese, Indian, and western dishes. There were so many vegetarian options that I struggled to limit myself. We also grabbed an end-of-the-night drink at the bar. While expensive, their cocktails are excellent at the quiet atmosphere made it the perfect place to unwind. My only issue is that the location isn't particularly walkable if that is a priority for you. That said, it is a quick walk from the train and mrt station.

Yelp
Excellent building nice decor! But their services it's really I don't even feel like to rate A star, it's the typical Malaysia hospitality or what? Or I've got spoiled by the others country's treated?

Yelp
The hotel is gorgeous and gives a definite modern colonial vibe. The historical Majestic Hotel offers anything your little travelers heart could wish for: shuttle buses, friendly staff, themed drawing room, clean bedrooms with sizable bath, tasty food, live music in the colonial cafe, pools, ball rooms, cocktails and probably even more that I haven't found on my 3 day stay. For a change I have nothing to complain about. Not even about the funny smelling anti-mosquitos air that hangs around in the Lobby. I would come back any time!

Yelp
I've been to this historic hotel run by YTL hotels a couple of times for events. It's recently been given a nice facelift and I love the pristine white colour scheme coupled with dark wooden furniture. Even the guards outside the lobby are dressed in cute hats and uniform resembling the army back in those days to give it more of a historic feel. Parking is available at a flat rate of RM10 and they also provide complimentary shuttle service to KL sentral. Their ballroom is huge and I love the washroom next to it as there's plenty of full length mirrors which can be useful for girls. The hotel's orchid room is also another famous room for special occasions as it's filled with beautiful orchids, perfect for a girly high tea or baby shower. However, i've tried their high tea a couple of times and wasn't so impressed by the food as it wasn't the best i've had. They offered your usual scones and sandwiches but also included a few local treats such as curry chicken pastry.

Yelp
This could be one of the oldest hotel that available in Kuala Lumpur and still running the business even there are too many hotels surrounding. It was built in 1932 by the time this country wasn't even independence yet. This place is amazing and beautiful. It amazes me even more because this place is located in the middle of busy city. Just like a paradise that located in the middle of a dessert. Plus, this hotel is my parents favorite. The ballroom is quite enormous. I bet it could fill up thousands in one time. I hope that I could make my wedding ceremony here someday. Just maybe.

Yelp
Although Majestic hotel is one of the oldest hotel in KL, the glamorous of heritage structure is well-maintained till now. I like their white painted building with wooden glasses window. It's very classy. I think it's should be a great place for wedding shooting. I still remember the first time I'm here was for my company's annual dinner, I was impressed with their big hall room where their beautiful chandeliers hanging on top, colorful lighting and good sounds system. The western meals that provided is also delicious. I love their service, everyone of them are friendly. Overall ambient and experience that I encounter are great. I'm having a unforgettable happy moment there. The only downside here is the room's size of their lifts are small. When there's event or during peak seasons, you might need to wait longer to get up or down.

Yelp
Majestic Hotel is definitely one of the oldest hotels in Malaysia. It was built in 1932. I was lucky enough to be invited by a PR Company for ball at Majestic Hotel. Seriously, before that, I never know this hotel means a lot and witness the history of our beloved homeland. Well, do you know, Majestic Hotel was once facing crisis in turning down their business? But great to know there is a NGO saved them and till now, Majestic Hotel is still maintaining their world class standard. I don't how much it actually cost for a night in Majestic Hotel, but I bet it isn't cheap since it is a heritage site and a grand hotel. The crews are well-trained. They are very polite and and helpful. Coming to the food, needless to say, the food are delightful and mouth-watering. I never dine solely in the lounge at Majestic Hotel, maybe you can try it out with your loved one in anniversary.

Yelp
This is one of the best and most luxurious hotels I have been staying at. The hotel is very very classy and you feel like you entered in a magical world as soon as you cross the entrance. The rooms are amazing with incredible bathrooms with bathtub and shower. And the breakfast, oh, the breakfast. This is one of the reasons I come back here all the time. You have amazing food from all over the world: pastries, American style breakfast, Asian food, juices of all kind, amazing!

Yelp
I've worked several events that were hosted at the Majestic hotel and all I can say is that im utterly impressed. walking into this hotel is like going through a time warp. Everything is so classy, not old but sort of timeless. I do know that this hotel was in existence since 1932, and so yes it is indeed very old but the fact that its still around today gives it a very historical feel. The rooms here are extremely expensive ranging from RM700-1000 per night. We were suppose to stay a night after the event but when we found out the prices we changed our minds. The staff here are very attentive and polite, they were extremely helpful throughout the event. The famous restaurant here is the Contango and i have to say i really enjoyed the buffet lunch we had. The spread was good and the food tasted amazing. anyone who loves hotel buffets should definitely give Contango a try.

Yelp
We just enjoyed a 5-night stay at Hotel Majestic. We loved it! We stayed in a room with two beds, and the room was spacious and well appointed. We had total control of the AC and fan speed. The windows, however, were locked. I have read some comments about deficits in service at this hotel, but they appear to have been corrected. The doorman always opened the door for us. The shuttle driver (a hotel shuttle takes you for free to three different KL locations) was always so accommodating. The waiters were attentive. (Getting the bill--not the check--can take some doing, not just here but in every KL or Singapore restaurant we visited.) The housekeepers were efficient and eager to please. The front desk clerks were quick to correct a small error in our bill. On our last day, as we were getting into the shuttle to go to the train station, the doorman, the guard, the concierge and the shuttle driver all bade us farewell. :) We stayed on the 10th floor, facing away from the street, toward the bank building. We could hear the muezzin give the call to prayer over the loudspeakers at the national mosque down the street. With the fan in the room on high, it didn't wake us, and I actually liked to hear his call, even though it started at 5:20 a.m. and the last one was around midnight. Hotel Majestic is within walking distance of the National Museum, the National Mosque, the KL Bird Park, and the Central Market. It is very close to the Sentral Station train and the mall, but because of how the roads are, we couldn't walk there from the hotel and took the free shuttle.

Yelp
Let's start with prices; Orchid room is Rm88++, drawing room is Rm68++, normal room is Rm48++. Starting off with the orchid room, the environment there has sufficient sunlight with plenty of orchids surrounding the place making it smell good. Not recommended for people allergic to orchids though. You have to make reservation at least a week before as the orchid room is always full due to the limited tables. Go there for the pastries as it isn't the typical sandwiches that other high tea places. The portion there is also extremely big. However, they don't have a variety of tea and only serve either tea or coffee. What kind of high tea place serves only one type of tea? Compared to the normal room, the service in the orchid room was excellent. The service in the normal room wasn't as good and makes it seem as if the money you pay gives you the service you deserve. I would go as far as to say that majestic serves the best pastries for high tea and the only downfall is the lack of tea selection.
