The Best Places to Stay in Banff National Park | Condé Nast Traveler

"When it comes to stays near Banff, The Malcolm Hotel is a standout for both pet-lovers and view-chasers. Set against the Rockies in Canmore, the 124-room hotel embodies classic mountain luxury with a Scottish flair and offers rooms with mountain or creek views (including a selection of designated pet-friendly accommodations). Pups are welcomed with freshly baked treats from the local Mut Hut Emporium, while treats for humans include outdoor hot tub soaks, heated pool swims, and cozy fireside moments in the crisp alpine air. Dining is another highlight: The King’s Table Experience at the Sterling Grill offers a prix fixe menu featuring three- and five-course chef’s tastings with optional wine pairings, while the cheese flight is the perfect snack to savor between adventures." - Alexandra Toto

My partner, my dog and I stayed here at the beginning of January. Everything was amazing from start to finish!!! The rooms are big, the shower is amazing and the beds are comfy. Rooms service is wonderful and the food tastes so good. We also enjoyed the outdoor hot tub. They also supplied a dog bed, some poop bags, a water and food bowl for my dog. It was walking distance from the stores and lovely pathways. We really enjoy our stay here. We highly recommend it to anyone visiting Canmore for a comfortable place to rest when you are not out adventuring.

The Malcolm Hotel is a charming and delightful stay that exceeded my expectations. From the moment we arrived, the staff provided exceptional service. The rooms are spacious, beautifully decorated, and equipped with all the modern amenities one could need. We particularly enjoyed the stunning mountain views from our room and the serene atmosphere throughout the hotel. The Pulse coffee shop was impressive, offering delicious coffee and pastries. Location-wise, it’s perfect for exploring downtown Canmore and nearby Banff. Overall, our experience at the Malcolm Hotel was fantastic, and I highly recommend it!

We stayed here in October and are glad we did; this hotel has everything that creates a memorable stay. Firstly, the scenery is breathtaking. The mountains are the stars and the hotel enables us to witness them. The hotel itself is modern, spacious, relaxing and welcoming. Shops are on site and Canmore’s shopping area is a short walk away. Our room had a balcony overlooking the mountains, outdoor pool and hot tub area. The room was quiet and cozy and offered all required amenities. Robes were also offered. Checkin and checkout are easy and staff are professional and efficient. The town of Canmore is a short walk from the hotel. Malcolm is named for ‘Canmore’ (great chief) Malcolm III of Alba (1031-1093), Scotland, who reigned from 1058-1093. His portrait overlooks the grand lobby at Hotel Malcolm. This hotel makes for a splendid stay in a most scenic environment.

Booked a one night staycation with my other half and we were both very impressed with the hotel and all its facilities! The heated spa tub and outdoor pool were 10/10 along with the onsite restaurant. The room was spacious and comfortable while also having high end amenities for use to use while we stayed there. We will be back for sure!

Very convenient location, less than 10 minutes walking distance to the town center area. Another 10 minutes walk to the bow river bridge, Canmore Engine Bridge, and river side walking trail. We woke up with the breathtaking view of the three sisters mountains and in a quiet neighborhood. We did quite some walk around the hotel area and found it pretty safe to do so. The hotel has a pretty good onsite restaurant and a cafe (with a gift shop in it). It has underground parking lots which is great for winter. It has a roof top swimming pool and two roof top hot tubs. There’s also a roof top fire pit but we didn’t use. One reminder, the hotel has a quite specific noise level rule, we found out about this during the pre-check in process. If you get noise complaints from others during the quiet hours, you will be kicked out of the hotel at the second time (after the first time warning) and will have to pay the hotel room for the guest who made the complaint. Overall, we are happy with our stay.

We had a lovely time at The Malcolm Hotel. It had a great location, a nice room (Deluxe King), eating establishment, a small boutique with coffee, tea and local goodies for sale. The Manager, Andrew, left a delicious box of chocolates to celebrate our wedding anniversary. (Nice touch!) We missed our golden retriever as there were many friendly dogs staying at the hotel. A family games area was well-appointed and the fireplace in the lobby was very inviting. Our only down-side was that there could have been more servers in the restaurant/bar. Other than that, the staff was very friendly, professional, and obliging. A great stay, we'd definitely book again! Can't wait for the new spa to open!

The hotel is well appointed and the views are amazing, The general amenities at the hotel are great. The hot tub and pool area were good, the gym was well equipped, the sitting areas and games area on the second floor were delightful. Another real treat was the Festival of Trees. We received excellent service and very good food at both the Stirling restaurant and bar.

Our Wedding at The Malcolm Hotel was absolutely Perfect! We had our wedding at The Malcolm Hotel and it was truly the most incredible experience from start to finish. The Group and Events team, especially Terri Liu, were absolutely amazing to work with over our two-year planning journey. Terri’s professionalism, attention to detail, and genuine care made all the difference. She worked with us on every detail, brought our vision to life, and went above and beyond to ensure everything was seamless. From the welcome reception to the wedding day itself, Terri and her team delivered exceptional service not only to us, but also to all of our friends and family staying at the hotel. The food was delicious, the bar was well stocked, and every staff member we interacted with was friendly, helpful, and accommodating to all of our requests. The hotel itself is stunning the mountain views from the pool are breathtaking, and the rooms are beautiful and comfortable. The Edinburgh Ballroom was an absolute highlight, with its grand architecture and panoramic views that made our celebration unforgettable. We couldn’t have asked for a better venue or team. If you’re planning a wedding or even just looking for a luxury getaway in Canmore, we highly recommend The Malcolm Hotel. Terri and her team made our dream wedding come true, truly a 10 out of 10 experience!
