"The undisputed grande dame of Filipino hospitality, the Manila Hotel has so many tales to tell that even Hemingway was impressed. “If the story’s any good,” he’s reported to have said, “it’s like Manila Hotel.” The Nobel laureate was but one in a series of visiting dignitaries, from military brass (General MacArthur took up residence in 1935 and left shortly before Japanese troops occupied the property in the ’40s) to Hollywood A-listers (including Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. and Sammy Davis, Jr.) to rock stars (when the Beatles notoriously snubbed Imelda Marcos by accident in 1966, they stayed here). The hotel has had plenty of cosmetic work done as well, including a dramatic renovation for the 2012 centennial festivities. So while you can still stay in, say, MacArthur’s quarters (known as the MacArthur Suite), the bathrooms now come with Bulgari toiletries and the bedrooms with HDTV. There was little the hotel could do to improve upon the already amazing bay views, as you’ll see from the suite’s dining room windows."

I recently stayed at The Manila Hotel and it was honestly a memorable experience. The moment you arrive, the lobby already gives you that classic historic feeling — elegant, well-maintained, and very Filipino in character. Room: My room was clean, spacious and comfortable. The bed was soft and relaxing, and I loved the view especially at night. Everything inside the room was organized well. Amenities & Facilities: Breakfast buffet was great — a lot of choices and everything tasted really good. The pool area was also nice and relaxing. You can really feel the “old luxury Manila” vibe but with modern comfort. Service: This is where they really stand out. The staff were very polite, friendly, and attentive. From check-in until check-out, they were all very welcoming and easy to talk to. Overall: The Manila Hotel is a perfect balance between history and comfort. I really enjoyed my stay and would definitely recommend it to anyone — whether for a staycation or someone visiting Manila for the first time.

We had an absolutely amazing time. The rooms were spacious and spotless, with great Filipino design. The breakfast buffet was delicious with a huge variety of options. Over all My stay at the Manila Hotel was spectacular. From the moment I arrived i felt the hospitality until check out. And special thanks to Ms. Zeny Gonzalo who went above and beyond to make my reservation stay happen. The room was beautiful and spotless, but the truly exceptional service is what made my stay memorable. I will certainly return on my next visit.

We decided to check into this hotel for the first time on a Saturday afternoon for an overnight stay, mainly due to an event we needed to attend to early Sunday morning at the Manila Hotel Tent (this is right beside the hotel). |The hotel is beautiful, it boasts of old Manila charm with its beautiful lobby and its well appointed rooms.||We also availed of the breakfast buffet at Cafe Ylang Ylang and was very satisfied with the selections and the service.||We got the Tower Deluxe rooms (got 2 rooms for our family of 4 adults). |We noticed however that one of our rooms had problems overnight with the aircon, resulting to warm temperatures across the room at intermittent periods during our stay.|We reported this the morning of our check out.||Also noteworthy is the quartet that performed that night (from 7-10pm) at the lobby. |For this, I would go back and enjoy the lobby lounge for a drink or two. |Lobby lounge menu items which we ordered: the Molo soup, Bibingka and Reuben sandwich were delicious. You may however, skip the pizza and meatball spaghetti.||Upon check out, we found a short queue but it was generally fast.|We asked for a complimentary parking pass and was given one.|What we did not know however, was that there was another booth required of us to get another pass with a QR code. This was NOT explained to us. And this is where the hotel failed us. |We only found out about this when we were exiting the parking area. |So there, we were blocking the exit, and we found right there that there was another step we were supposed to do prior to getting our car. |You can just imagine how stressful this situation was. Good thing there was a parking attendant who assisted us so we can move our car to the side after a few minutes while we needed to get another parking pass with the required QR code.|And here's where the problem gets worse.|The line to get that other pass was way too long, right outside by the driveway, under the HEAT OF THE SUN, and of course, since it was just after an event, you would expect the line to be long...approximately 45mins to 1 hour just to get the needed QR parking pass. ||I am writing this so that the hotel management immediately address this problem.|People were angry.||Until this is resolved, i would rethink going back and staying at Manila Hotel again.

I booked this hotel for a family trip, and we were pleasantly surprised. The family suite was roomy enough for four of us, with comfortable beds and plenty of storage space. Housekeeping did a great job of keeping everything spotless. The kids loved the swimming pool, and the lifeguard on duty gave us extra peace of mind. Breakfast was plentiful, though a bit crowded during peak hours. All in all, a great mid-range option that balances comfort and price very well.

Wow, my stay here was truly incredible. This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and it was fascinating to experience a luxury hotel Filipino style. I wasn't expecting all the staff to be wearing traditional dress. The breakfast buffet was truly something to die for and I was sad I had to miss it on the last morning. I don't usually treat myself to luxury hotels but this was a great place to do it. The location is kind of far from Makati and other sights to see in Manila, but it was nice to be close to Rizal Park and the Ocean Walk. Honestly, it was worth it just to stay in this hotel! 10/10 recommend.

We visited The Manila Hotel for morning tea as part of a cruise port excursion one Sunday. It was very popular and there were people everywhere. Thankfully our seats had been reserved and our delicious morning tea had already been placed on the tables. We had a good choice of food including scones, cakes, tartlets, biscuits, cup cakes, sandwiches and empanadas along with coffee or tea. The main lobby was large and opulent with lavish and extravagant furnished colonial interiors.

It’s a 10-star hotel for me. While my opinion is highly subjective, the experience was truly wonderful. The staff members were exceptionally accommodating and possessed a humble, welcoming attitude. The room we had certainly showed the antiquity of a Colonial Manila building, well the overhead shower in our room was dripping and the toilet flush sometimes stuck, causing the water tank to refill endlessly until manually adjusted. However, these are minor, expected flaws, and I can confidently say the place is aging gracefully! There are many features that highlight the hotel's great charm, such as its proximity to famed landmarks, but I encourage you to try it and find out for yourself. Thank you, Manila Hotel, for your most welcoming accommodation! I look forward to my next stay.
