We recently stayed two nights at the Manor House and both the hotel and Oban were one of our favorite parts of our Scotland trip. The Manor House is in a beautiful location on the water with a view of the town, close enough to easily walk downtown but with enough distance to be totally quiet (with parking!). The property is beautifully decorated with lovely public spaces (living room, bar, breakfast room). Our room was on the second floor with a nice view of the harbor. It was a little small, but in perfect condition and had lots of light from windows on two sides. The bathroom is modern, a little small, but not a problem. Breakfast is served in a lovely breakfast room, with a full menu, all made to order. While the hotel does not have a restaurant, it has a very wide variety of "bar snacks" available in the bar in the evenings. I'd argue they are way more than "snacks", for example, there are charcuterie and cheese platters, quiche, pasta and more. On one night, we made dinner out of the plates on offer, enjoying the view. Last but not least, the staff is terrific -- friendly, helpful, always wanting to please, and great about sharing tips for your stay in Oban. As we drove into town we had noticed signs for the Oban Games and on arrival at the hotel, Lorna explained everything about the Games and what we should do to participate - which made for a terrific day in Oban. It's an interesting town with great history, interesting harbor, unique shops, and terrific seafood! And the Manor House is a super place to stay.
