After researching several wedding venues in the Denver metro area, we selected the Manor House for our October 2016 wedding. There were some pros and several cons that we felt were present at this location, based on our experience.
PROS: The venue is a historic mansion that has wonderful views of both downtown Denver and the Red Rocks Amphitheater from their outdoor ceremony space, and also has a backup site upstairs for bad weather. When you reserve the site, you get the entire area! When we first visited in October 2015, the historic home was decorated by the owners in a strong fall theme, which helped in our selection process; they confirmed the use of those same decorations for our big day for the following October (something we mentioned, and confirmed each meeting). The venue had a suggested vendor list that helped us get started on other vendor service selections, and Kelley, the main site coordinator was willing to talk with us whenever we had questions along the way. At the wedding, Kelley helped ensure we received food/drinks throughout the day, and assisted any guests if they had questions. CONS: While being very adamant about payment and appointment times for us, they would almost always run late themselves (ex. Midpoint meeting started 15 minutes late, our walk-through meeting started 45 min late and was rushed, and we showed up for rehearsal and sat around with our family and friends for 30 minutes while we tried to find someone at the venue to let us in to unload decor). The final payment was also charged and posted to my credit card twice, and when I reached out to let them know, they blamed me, so I had to dispute with my bank. The venue also requires use of their internal caterer, Perfect Bite Catering. We had several communication hiccups, delayed responses, and lack of clarity on pricing with the caterer. After pulling Kelley in to help clarify, it turns out that changing items from our 'a la carte' menu did not impact the per person cost - not sure how that's possible, meat is more expensive than muffins you would think? Also, on the day of our wedding - huge error on their part: they did not make our main dish for the brunch buffet! This was the main item confirmed several times with them; the error could not be corrected, and because of the lack of pricing transparency, we had no way to know if the refund we pushed for was a fair value. On the day of our wedding, there was minimal fall décor added from the venue compared to the previous year; Kelley noted that lately other brides often asked for it to be taken away, contradictory to our repeated requests and one of the main reasons we selected a fall wedding at the venue. Also, we provided pictures of how we wanted our own décor set up per their request - however, they followed those images inconsistently, and did not even use some of our decor. Other vendors contact info had been provided to Kelley per her request. Kelley, who we paid a coordination fee too, did not do much coordination or discussion with the other vendors. Overall, the venue is beautiful and the day was great - but there were several overlooked details and hiccups that should and could have been avoided.
