The Mansion

"The term palatial gets loosely bandied about, but it literally describes the opulent Mansion, set amid the dazzling green countryside near Ubud, Bali’s cultural heart. Originally built as a private manor, The Mansion consists of a rambling three-story Italianate villa and a constellation of individual residences, each with small, balconied rooms that can be booked separately. All 24 suites are sumptuously finished in teak, brass, and finely carved plaster and are outfitted with contemporary Balinese paintings and gilt Indonesian interpretations of Empire classics. An array of terraces and balconies makes the most of the gorgeous gardens, which twinkle with fountains and pools. The range of amenities is spectacular, including a helipad, a lovely garden-pavilion spa, a billiards room, a personal butler, and transport in a sleek Mercedes limousine. The restaurant is adequate, with a limited menu, but it can prepare a traditional Balinese banquet with only a day’s notice."

I see various numbers of reviews about this hotel—All good and mostly bad especially here on Google review. I can offer my view as I’ve spent a night here. 1. Do not expect western standard cleanliness. It’s not managed by any western management (I believe), and it’s a 1-level resorts. You’ll see dirts and small animals which is quite normal in a village area. 2. Breakfast food is good, juices are all fresh! They also have one of the thickest yogurt I’ve ever had. They have various condiments too. 3. Humidity level in the room is pretty high, as long as you keep the aircon on, should be fine 4. There are many pools and ponds, beware of where you’re going. It’s not hard to just follow the designated path and you won’t fall down. 5. If you’re into wellness, you’ll like it here 6. I’m Indonesian who have been living abroad, I feel like home when I’m here! People are nice and kind, if you think they aren’t, just smile first and say “good morning/whatever”. Just a little reminder to not be entitled & to not take people’s kindness for granted. Be kind if you want others to be kind to you.

This hotel is a little bit set back off the main road. It was clearly once quite grand and although not quite in its original glory is still a very nice hotel. This is not a 5-star North American style hotel. It looks like it was built by a local developer. It has a unique design with lots of gardens and ornaments, and many, many pools (big and small). The many paths lead you to different sections and it is set out in quite a large area. For me, this is a very nice change. We heard varying reports about the food. We only had breakfast once, which was fine, as we were out a lot on trips and ate out. The room was clean, bed was comfortable, pools all well maintained while we were there, and the staff were polite and helpful. There is an ATM located at the hotel. The room and hotel in general could do with a refresh, but I noticed quite a bit of work being done while I was here. Given the price point, this is a very nice place to stay. I would come back again if I were in Ubud.

It has a great potential. Huge property with niche history (i think it used to be a residence of a wealthy family). There are several art pieces/artefacts, and a couple of vintage cars parked in the parking place. The landscape is beautiful with greenery and statues. The room was good with decent furniture and a great bed. Many swimming pools. Having said that., I think the management seems a bit nihilist. The alleys are slippery, the plants obstruct the way. Many things are not working (the steam, the Jacuzzi in infinity pool). Some of the staff seem not trained on par with such an expensive property. I think it is a bit overpriced for what is offered at its current shape. The management needs a boost and this place can easily become a top hotel in Ubud.

This hotel needs a big dose of love, both physically and energetically. It looks worn down, and some outdoor areas are moldy and super slippery when wet. Most of the pools are not very well taken care of. My room was big and nice, however the breakfast and other meals were really sad... (very little taste, texture & colors). I asked for a plug for my wonderful looking outdoor bathtub, where the staff immediately responded "it is broken" and I asked them to check since the water supply clearly worked fine. They said someone would have a look at it but I never heard back from them. Unfortunately, I feel this was representative for the general service level. I recommend finding somewhere else to stay when in Ubud.

A Grand and Luxurious Stay at, Bali Staying at The Mansion in Bali was a truly remarkable experience. From the moment we arrived, I was captivated by the sheer grandeur of the property—it felt like stepping into a magnificent kingdom surrounded by nature’s beauty. The hotel’s architecture, vast open spaces, and lush greenery created a perfect blend of luxury and serenity. One of the highlights of my stay was the incredible facilities. With six stunning swimming pools, each offering a unique experience, relaxation was taken to a whole new level. Whether it was a peaceful morning swim or a refreshing dip after a day of exploration, the pools were always well-maintained and inviting. One of the best and big hotel, there are so many spots for photos and video. The breakfast was exceptional, offering a wide variety of fresh and delicious options. The spread included everything from tropical fruits and fresh juices to gourmet international and local Balinese dishes. Every meal was a delight, with high-quality ingredients and impeccable presentation. It would be great if you provide indian and and pure veg food. The staff at The Mansion truly elevated the experience. Their professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail were outstanding. Whether it was at the front desk, the restaurants, or by the pool, every interaction was handled with care and efficiency, making me feel genuinely welcomed and valued as a guest. The location of the hotel was also a major plus. Nestled in a picturesque setting, it offered a peaceful retreat while still being conveniently close to Bali’s famous attractions, beaches, and cultural sites. Overall, The Mansion is an exceptional choice for travelers seeking a luxurious yet tranquil escape in Bali. The stunning design, world-class amenities, and outstanding service make it a perfect place to unwind and indulge in a royal experience. I highly recommend it and would love to visit again!

Actually a old but luxurious resort, BUT : Owner and senior staff are quite arrogant, they are constantly hiding and playing on their phones, just the interns were friendly and helpful. Breakfast needs also to be improved. Main pool / main garden of the resort is a Yoga retreat for big groups, strange atmosphere. Kids club is 50k/hour and needs renovation. Room was small and had many ants, they offered us a bigger room but without any windows. Overall the worst hotel during our 2 months travel in Bali.

Nice hotel on the outskirts of Ubud. Great amenities with 6 pools and the gardens are fab. I was here a few years back and the place has become a little tired looking but still a great hotel. They offer a free shuttle for drop off and pickup in Ubud which is very handy. Breakfast is good with a great selection and they even made my room social for my birthday. I would recommend a stay here at the mansion

AVOID AVOID AVOID !! I had the misfortune of being booked into this hovel of hotel. I was assured it was 4/5* however, in reality it would be lucky if it was classed as a 1* |I was served mouldy food (but the restaurant manager was adamant “it is residue off the pan” - 3 supervisors agreed it was mould and should never have left the kitchen!!)|I raised serious safety issues regarding one of the pools (metal spike sticking up from an uncovered light in the pool that could very easily be stood on by children and/or adults). Also the lifebelt was rotten. It was split all over it and was actually just sitting in between some plants so not even immediately visible should it be needed. The pool area itself was thick with years of rust, the loungers were just as bad yet the HOTEL MANAGER simply wrote that it “needs maintenance” . She couldn’t have cared less if her life depended on it!!|On my first day there (out of 4) I had 3 room changes and management and staff were adamant each time it was an upgrade. One room was so basic that I’m surprised they actually charged people to stay in it. Very small room, bathroom consisted of a toilet, a stand for towels and a rusty shower that was hanging off the wall. NO SINK though cos that was in the bedroom near the door you enter from outside (they called this a super deluxe room 🤦‍♀️ And another ‘super deluxe room’ was full of bugs that were in the bed, bath, sink, towels and the room hadn’t been cleaned in months as is very evident on the photos I took. There’s also some sort of animal scurrying around at night but the staff will gaslight you into thinking you’ve dreamt it!!|Lighting around the resort was very poor and gets less and less the further away from reception you are. |Other guests were checking out because of similar issues and stating that they have been misled as it was nothing like the photos (which were taken at least 8 years ago but still use them today to advertise the hotel). |I could continue with valid reasons why NOT to use this hotel but it’s your decision. There are many other hotels in Ubud and the surrounding areas so choose wisely as the management will tell you immediately that you will not be getting anything refunded 😤
