The Margi (Athens, Greece) 14 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"When you think of a Greek seaside getaway it’s only natural to think of the Aegean islands. But there’s beachfront bliss to be had around the capital as well. This is Vouliagmeni, the heart of the Athenian Riviera, an upscale seaside district just south of Athens proper. And it’s home to, among others, The Margi, an 88-room hotel that’s as clear an exemplar of the luxury-boutique genre as you’re likely to find on these shores." - Tablet Hotels

The Margi is one of its kind. From the stunning room to the genuinely attentive staff, every moment felt like pure luxury. The gold standard for a 5-star experience. A true oasis of calm and luxury. Every corner of the hotel exuded elegance and comfort. They make you feel instantly relaxed and pampered.

This hotel provides a flawless experience defined by excellent staff service and a spectacular Vouliagmeni location. We appreciated the very nice view and the convenient proximity to local attractions and seaside walks in what is surely the best Athenian suburb. Dining was a continuous pleasure; the restaurant consistently delivered Michelin-class plates that were as presentable as they were delicious. The most memorable part of our trip, however, was an unexpected discovery: a full-day private boat tour to the island of Aegina. We were astonished by the hidden beauty just a short distance from Athens. The hotel is located very close to the Astir marina and the shopping mall.

I had always wanted to stay at this hotel, and on my recent trip to Athens, I finally did – and I was certainly not disappointed! Although it was on the pricey side (as I booked last minute), it was absolutely worth it.||The location is excellent, in a quiet area yet with 2–3 beach clubs just down the road. You really get the best of both worlds – the luxury and comfort of the hotel, or the option of spending a day at a beach club nearby.||From the moment I arrived, I was warmly welcomed and immediately felt like I was joining a family. The staff are friendly, polite, and professional, and the whole atmosphere of the hotel is relaxed, elegant, and luxurious.||Highlights of my stay:||Room: Calm, beautifully appointed, and luxurious, with its own balcony to enjoy. The soundproofing was excellent, ensuring a restful night’s sleep.||Breakfast: In all my years of travel, it would be hard to find a breakfast that compares. The variety and quality of food were outstanding, the presentation was impressive, and the service from the staff was exceptional.||Pool: A beautifully designed space to unwind under the Greek sun. The pool staff were attentive and quick to serve food and drinks, and I never struggled to find a lounger. My only comment would be that some families did not manage their children well – at times, kids were running around, shouting, and even jumping on loungers. While it may have been an isolated issue, it did happen on multiple occasions and slightly disrupted the otherwise tranquil atmosphere.||Final thoughts:|This hotel exceeded my expectations, and I would return without hesitation. My only suggestion would be for the hotel to set clearer rules regarding children’s behavior at the pool, or consider positioning itself as an adults-only property. I believe this would enhance the experience for the many couples and solo travelers who choose this hotel.||Overall, a truly memorable stay – highly recommended.

Absolutely amazing hotel and restaurant. We enjoyed our time there. |The meatballs at lunch should be made into a meal, not just an appetizer :)|The gym was above average for a hotel and the lifts (elevators) were a unique experience.

Stayed here twice on my trip to Greece. Great service, comfortable beds, and nice pool vibe. The cocktails are delicious and the breakfast is even better. Will definitely come back here. It’s a 30 min drive into town but the beaches next to this hotel are crystal clear.

My wife and I first stayed at the Margi in Vouliagmeni four years ago on our way to Mykonos and found it to be the perfect place for a stopover in Athens. We returned at the end of July and again over the first weekend in August. Much has changed, not least as far as dining in concerned. Although it is very much an upmarket Greek hotel, they now serve only Italian food in the restaurant. Since we live in Italy and eat Italian food every day, my wife asked for an omelette instead of what was on the menu and was told that this was impossible. Even more disappointing was the accommodation. When we arrived over the weekend, we were told that we had been upgraded to an executive room from a superior one. Imagine our surprise when we discovered on walking into the room that there was no actual bathroom! The wash basin was at one end of the entrance corridor while the shower and toilet were in a glass fronted cabinet facing the entrance door. This was for a room for which we were paying 747 Euros a night in a five-star hotel. When my wife complained, after initially trying to fob her off with a free spa treatment, they agreed to knock 100 Euros off for each of us. reducing the final charge to what we would have paid if we had paid the advance charge daily rate! Scarcely what one expects of a member of Small Luxury Hotels. Next trip to Athens will definitely be to a genuine five-star hotel.

We stayed at The Margi during our wedding and completely fell in love with it. We’ve stayed at some really great hotels over the years, but this one quietly made its way to the top of our list—and I think it will be hard to beat. Everything about the experience felt calm, beautiful, and easy in the best way. It’s the kind of place that doesn’t try too hard but somehow gets everything exactly right. The lighting is soft, the textures and design are layered but relaxed, and there’s a subtle signature scent throughout that’s so good I ended up buying the candle to take home with me (and light whenever I miss being there—which is often). The food was consistently excellent—fresh, thoughtful, and mostly sourced from their own farm. Breakfast in particular stood out, and all of our meals on property were among our favorites from the trip. What really stood out, though, was how seamlessly everything worked. They’ve clearly thought through every guest’s need—often before you even realize you need anything. It’s the kind of quiet attentiveness that’s hard to describe but immediately felt. Nikki and Constantinos were so kind and helpful, and that same sense of care and attention carried through to everyone on the team. You can tell they all take pride in what they do, and it shows in the little moments. All of our wedding guests had such nice things to say about their stay, too, and it ended up becoming one of the highlights of the weekend. We’ll absolutely be back—maybe even just for The Margi alone.

As a frequent visitor to The Margi from Chicago, I can say with the utmost confidence that staying here is a Complete Pleasure. From the moment you are greeted at entrance, you will feel as if you are HOME. The fragrance of the lobby is the beginning of a treat for the senses. Reception is professional and friendly. Concierge Services are very helpful and accommodating. The rooms are comfortable and immaculate. Restaurants are excellent, from a lovely poolside breakfast, lunch or dinner to the Michelin Star Patio, you won't be disappointed, but superbly pleased. Servers are very knowledgeable and pleasant. Bar service is outstanding and a great place to unwind. If tired, the Hotel provides Excellent Room Service. The pool is intimate and a lovely setting, the outside world a memory. The Spa is lovely and well appointed for a relaxing experience and rejuvenation. All in all, I highly recommend The Margi!!!
