Exceeded expectations. Beautiful property with so much historical charm. The experience felt thoughtfully curated and personalized. Macey, Vio, and Lauren were fantastic — highly responsive and very helpful. Our meals at Harvest were delightful. The Marlborough truly was a highlight of our trip.

We spent three days and nights here and can’t commend it highly enough. The easy stuff includes a great back-story, beautiful old building with very tastefully proportioned rooms, comfortable bed, good food. The experience included a comfortable reception, daily canapés and drinks with other guests and late nights by the log fire under the stars. The highlight is the staff, everywhere we were taken care of exquisitely - attentive, friendly, and engaging without being overbearing.

Thank you so much for an amazing time at the Marlborough Hotel! From the moment we arrived, we felt so welcome and relaxed. The setting is incredible – the beautiful rooms, pool, and surrounding nature. The breakfast and food were outstanding, just as the wine and canapés by the fireplace. The service was so warm, personal, and attentive. Huge thanks to Angela, Macey, and the whole team for making every guest feel special! We enjoyed every moment of our stay and can’t wait to come back!

From the moment we arrived at this boutique hotel, we felt like family. This hotel offers a beautiful pool area, lawn games, walking trails, and beautiful outdoor spaces. The rooms are exquisite. ||A shout out to Macey. She is the heart of this place and makes everything perfect. The vibe of this place is special. Also, a special thank you to Vi (Virginia) our new friend from Quebec. You are a lovely person and we very much enjoyed talking to you. Sharon, you are new to this job, but we know your potential is special and we loved our time spent with you. Neil, thank you for sharing the stories with Otago (Kinross). You were delightful. ||I can’t wait to recommend this lovely experience and resort to all of our friends.

When we arrived we were looked after carefully by Vee who also introduced us to her manager Macey and we had a feeling then that we were not in for a “usual” hotel experience |This boutique hotel only has 10 bedrooms but oooooozes quality both in facilities and also service. |Arriving tired after journeying down from Lake Taupo we were told that we must go to the “Chapel” after we had showered and freshened up before dinner - for pre-dinner drinks|This used to be a nuns convent - so going for “Prinks” in the Chapel I knew would be interesting |Sure enough - the drinks menu included “the confession” , “the sinner” , “communion” etc etc |So naturally I had to start with a “sinner” before sitting down outside in front of the roaring fire with other guests before we went to dinner, which was (needless to say) amazing |And so it was for the rest of our stay - amazing with another manager Loren making sure the heated pool was ready for our morning exercise before our sumptuous breakfast

This is one of the most excellent hotels I’ve ever been to. The staff is personable, helpful, and kind; the restaurant is great; the grounds are gorgeous. Worth every penny and will be on the list for a return stay! Thank you!

This hotel is absolutely perfect. The setting, the rooms, the food, the staff and of course the wine. Usually a hotel has a stand out member of staff, but they were all truly excellent and could not do enough for us. The wine tasting is a must as is the dinner - brilliant chef. If you can't stay at least try the restaurant. Thank you so much.

Stopped for lunch and some wine sampling. Dining room is small but charming, and the grounds are very well manicured. Staff was friendly and helpful!

Yelp
My husband and I had a 2 night stay booked at the Marlborough during our 2 week trip to NZ from the US. We were just shy of a month (3 days) before we were to go and my husband came down with pneumonia. We had to cancel the entire trip, as he ended up being hospitalized. BEWARE of the 30 day cancellation policy the hotel has. Even given our circumstances they wouldn't even budge on this policy. Not even 50%. They said we could use the credit for another stay, but don't know when we will attempt to return and now I have a bad taste in my mouth and wouldn't stay there if they paid me. All our other bookings were fully refunded as there was plenty of time for them to rebook our room. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL. They were totally unfriendly and had no regard for our situation. This is an expensive hotel and now I'm out $2,500! I booked thru Amex travel and they got the same response when they did the inquiry on the charge. HIGHWAY ROBBERY!!!!!

Yelp
A highlight of our NZ trip. Beautiful grounds and buildings. This was apparently an historic convent building, moved here and beautifully restored. There are such nice touches as stained-glass windows. A separate chapel building is the wine lounge. We sat by a roaring outdoor fireplace, and were served pre-dinner wine and canapés. Beautiful, large room. Restful public rooms. I think about 16 acres of gardens, with a pond and plantings. Very restful and elegant place to stay. And dinner was superb. Stay here if you're visiting the Marlborough wine region.
