I'm sure it was elegant at one point in time, maybe a hundred years ago. Now it's decrepit and running down. I ended up there overnight when my travel plans got sidetracked. The walls are literally falling apart in places, the carpet is filthy, there's a stench in the air, and it's just all around disgusting. My room was so gross. My bed was not something I would ever sleep in again. The shower head sprayed water and the toilet didn't really flush well. The window had no screen on it and it looked out onto another building and was frankly kind of scary. The pool was not accessible and the hallway leading to the pool was showing signs of a flood at one point. The air conditioner in my room did not work, it just kind of pushed air around. I would not recommend this for somebody who has reservations about staying in gross settings or really anyone lol. I honestly felt unsafe there. Check out was noon but I was gone way earlier.

Booked this hotel as it is close to the Canada Life Centre. Although the elevator was awful, stopping on random floors & jolted alot... The staff did allow us to have an early check in & were very nice (security located near the front desk was also super nice). The location is good, the historic sites is desirable. The price is worth it, although the deposit is quite high for a very end of it's time hotel. They will tell you they have a system to wake you up, but what they won't tell you is it is by phone & doesn't often work. We almost missed our flight. ||Overall a very average hotel, and I would probably book agian (when in Winnipeg) for the location.

Definitely wouldn’t recommend staying here. There was brown stains on the mattress cover. Still a really long black hair in the shower bugs in the corners of the room in the cracks of the floor not to mention my friends AirPods were stolen out of the room because our door didn’t completely latch and the key card meant nothing to the door and to top it all off we had some drunk guy walk into our room while we were sleeping thinking it was his room. If I could give this hotel, zero stars I would.

If I could give this hotel zero stars that is what’s I’d do. When we pulled up police were in the lobby. Apparently dealing with a situation which is a common occurrence. I thought perhaps we had the address wrong because this place looked more like a halfway house then a hotel. This is not the place I get out of my car. This is where I roll up my windows and lock the doors. We checked in and couldn’t get our room doors open. We had to go back to the front desk and they sent security up to open the doors which are apparently tricky. The hotel is dingy, stale and was nothing like what is advertised. We left immediately and are being denied a refund. A $200 damage deposit was placed on my cc. I had it retuned before we left 8 minutes later. The hotel then charged me the $200 again the next day without my consent or knowledge. We didn’t even enter our room. This hotel is unsafe and not clean. The staff are rude and not helpful. There is no parking. The entire experience was scary especially for 2 females travelling alone. Do not stay here.

Wow. This place has really gone down hill. I mean.. It was always kind of a crash place to stay at when you were in town for a concert. But I would not recommend even doing that. The air conditioning sytem didn't work and had not been working for weeks (even though they fed me a line that it was being worked on that day and will be back on soon, I found out from other staff it's been broken for ages and will not be fixed...) the floor in the room was sticky. There was mice traps under the bed! Pretty well disgusting. ... The staff were nice enough and the lobby is nice. That's all I can say good about this place. Price was ridiculous considering the room....

It is so hard to review this place - I could literally give it a great review, or a really bad one. This hotel has been open since 1914, and in it's day, it was a gorgeous grand opulent hotel. You can see the great bones of it. The chandeliers, the carpets, the ballroom, the large lobby - you can see the fine history. In today's time, it has fallen into faded disrepair and desperately needs a refurbishment. The area is the old downtown part of the city, which brings a certain element to it, although we didn't have any negative interactions with the people outside. There is a security guard posted in the entrance of the hotel, so we felt quite safe, but he was busy escorting several inebriated people out while we were there. The staff was friendly and helpful, the rooms are also in need of repair, but everything we saw was clean. The hotel itself has no parking, but there is a city parking lot right across the street. We didn't spend a lot of time each day in the hotel, and decided right away to consider it an adventure, so we were ok. Not sure we would recommend it for most people - it's not for the faint of heart. But, if t ever got renovated - it could be stunning!

DO NOT STAY HERE. Booked for 3 nights, we waited for 2.5 hours to check in after arriving an hour after check in time. The elevator was very sketchy and raised initial concerns. Once we saw our room, we knew it was unsafe to stay in. Holes in the comforter, stains on the ground, and hair on the shower wall were just a FEW of our concerns. Our room connected by a deadlock to another person’s room which we were unaware of. Our latch lock on the door was broken. Unsafe, unclean, unlivable. Checked out 20 minutes after and got refund. Wasted 3 hours of our lives. Absolutely horrendous that they are still open. Save yourself. Book elsewhere.

Awful place to stay. Security was rude to my partner when he tried to go up to our room without me. No complimentary breakfast even though the site said it did. When asking the front desk they said they stopped doing it months before, so maybe they should take it off their site. Asked if the pool was open, was told it was out of service. Asked if their lounge was open, they said it was closed indefinitely. So basically everything they said they had was NOT available. The hotel smelled like old cigarette butts, stains on the carpets and walls. Ice machine was broken, 1 elevator was broken. Housekeeping came once, didn't leave any fresh towels just made 1 bed in a 2 bed room. Asked the front desk for fresh towels and was given 1 towel for my partner and I. No A/C, very hot in the room. When we looked out the window, our view was brick walls and old clothes and garbage outside. Honestly don't waste your money here, nothing good about this steaming dump hotel.

Yelp
Me and hubby went here to get things spicy If you know what i mean But!That was soonly interrupted when a man kept tapping on our window,he joined in‍

Yelp
this was the worse hotel I have ever been to... we checked in for 2 hours and changed rooms twice due to no air conditioning.. the room was so hot and disgusting stuff was still there from previous person. we checked out 2 hours later due to my husband puking because it was so hot in the room. Pool was disgusting and water slide was broken.. we were suppose to get a full refund back and didn't get a penny back. DO NOT stay at this hotel !!!

Yelp
IF i could leave 0 stars, i would. This hotel is not at ALL fit for people to stay. We walked in and waited 10+ minutes while other disgruntled guests were being spoken to. Once we were finally helped, the man said 5 minutes to wait, and that they were finishing cleaning our room which already seemed odd since our check in was at 3pm and we arrived at 4pm, giving plenty of time for our room to be ready. Then we waited the supposed 5 mins standing with all of our luggage, which turned out to be more like 15 minutes. Eventually they led us to wait EVEN longer in their poor excuse for a restaurant, which was smelly, and dingy. We waited there for another 2 hours, they did offer us coffee and croissants in the mean time, which seemed to be the only semi-positive experience we had, but I was almost too afraid to consume any of it. As we waited, I watched hotel workers frantically going upstairs with brand new pillows in the packaging that they had JUST returned from purchasing, which sketched me out more than I already was. When we finally were shown the way to our room, we stepped into a horrifying elevator. Disgusting moldy ceiling, dirt and grime all over everything, the doors were scratched up and beaten looking. I felt disgusted and unsafe. Upon exiting the elevator, we were greeted with a stuffy, hot, foul smelling hall. I immediately see a nasty bucket sitting in the hall, which I will insert a photo of because i was in disbelief. When we get into the room, we see a filthy bathtub, disgusting toilet, a vent that appeared to be covered in mold, mysterious stains all over the carpet, worn down old furniture, dirty sheets and bedding with holes, and our curtains were stapled shut for whatever reason. The latch lock to our door was broken, so I felt entirely unsafe. Also it felt like no AC was coming into the room. We immediately booked somewhere else, initiated a return, and never ever plan to come back. The staff seems entirely unbothered by these conditions and I don't see anything changing anytime soon.

Yelp
Absolutely not. Do not. So run down. These types of places should be illegal. Came at 4pm when check in 3pm and still had us wait over 2 hours for them to "clean" the room. Room was in fact not clean. Staples left on the ground. Imagine if a child found those? Room was connected to another and we could access their room with ease. No locks. Dead bolt lock on main door was broken. Did not feel safe. Spend the extra buck and go to a Hilton.

Yelp
After seeing two rooms, we left because the sheets here are very clearly not washed. We found a woman's nail and a bunch of hair under the covers. You will probably catch Monkey Pox, COVID, or some other disease here. We didn't stay the night. Front desk said we would get refunded upon contacting Booking.com; hotel management has ignored Booking representative since, and my own phone calls. Needless to say, I never got my $100 back. Hope this place gets shut down by a health inspector, as it deservingly should be.

Yelp
just saw a rat in our room. that should be enough. also no fridge and no microwave. we paid for a deluxe. don't come here. crackheads all around this area. also we got our phone pick pocketed here. if you're a college student looking for a good place to come don't come here. pay the extra amount to go to a nicer hotel otherwise you'll have to pay some crackhead to get your phone back. and the shower doesn't drain. it's not safe here. everything feels gross. you have to pay for wifi and parking is $17 a night. in a parking lot that is unsafe asf. good luck.

Yelp
If I could give zero stars I would! Marlborough hotel, more like murder hotel. The company I work for put me and my coworkers up here but we didn't end up even staying. When we arrived at the hotel one of the front doors was just a piece of plywood. An extremely drunk man was talking to the receptionists while the security guard was playing on his phone. After a few minutes of them placating said drunk man, they said he should go talk to the security guard. We finally spoke to the receptionists and one of them said, "I have to go check on your room" and left. We arrived to check in at 10pm so I'm not sure why our rooms wouldn't be ready. My friend asked the receptionist left at the desk if she had any suggestions of where we could get a drink and some late night food and we were told to "google it." Approximately 20mins later the receptionist who went to check on our rooms comes back and says "sorry but we had to evacuate 2 floors today so we only have one room with a twin bed and pull out couch." I said that was unacceptable because we had 2 rooms booked for 3 people. She apologized and again said that they had to evacuate 2 floors so they were short on rooms. With all the weird things that happened in the 40 minutes I tried to check in, I did not feel safe staying there so we left and found other accommodations. The next day a few other people from my company tried to check in and said the rooms were DISGUSTING. Dirty towels, hair everywhere, not sanitary. Do yourself a favor and stay ANYWHERE ELSE.

Yelp
Yuck, yuck, omg, yuck! Ordered a room off hotels.com. Everything downtown near BELL MTS was booked due to a concert. We arrived, immediately regretted it. Front staff was rude (not to me, but other patrons) Parking was not included in price. Had to park across the street. Paid $10 because of event parking. When we left the next day, had to pay another $16...$26 total for less than 24 hr parking! Room was disgusting! 2x double beds, tube tv, 1 cup coffee maker. No other amenities in room. "Seating" consisted of an office chair from 1990s and a metal arm chair. Beds extremely uncomfortable with springs poking everywhere. Walls were all stained with gunk everywhere - will save the description of said gunk but suffice it to say it likely hasn't been washed or painted in at least 20 years. Holes in walls and ceiling, cigarette burns in carpet. Faucet in tub was not actually connected to the wall. No heat, no exhaust for shower. Chipped and stained bathroom. We checked for bed bugs, found nothing, but we did find hairs in the sheets....lots of other peoples hair!!! Carved graffiti in the hallways and the elevator sported some sort of fresh bodily fluid on the floor when we left in the morning. Sleep? What's that? Retuned to our cold room around 01:15. Attempted to sleep, but the yelling, doors slamming, pipes rattling kept us up. Not to mention, the beds were junk. Pillows...a 2x4 would have been more comfortable! In the morning we went to have a shower...yuck. Tub was absolutely disgusting. Had to run the water 10 min for it to clear up. Nothing but orange/brown water. If you want a relaxing good nights sleep, DON'T STAY HERE!

Yelp
One of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had. Downgraded my room, advertised pub wasn't open, room phone didn't work, alarm clock didn't work, couldn't get served for breakfast in the morning (and there were only 6-8 other people in there. Not tables, people). Just a complete debacle of an experience all around. Sure it's convenient being close to the MTS Centre, but this is what I get for booking the cheapest hotel on Expedia. Will never stay at this hotel again

Yelp
I don't think this place gets a fair rap. For the price you pay, it's quite decent. Rooms are clean and somewhat modern looking. The staff went out of their way to accommodate me. The clientele is mostly lower income and blue collar but if you don't like that, then stay at the Ritz, pay 500 times as much and deal with those snobs. I really enjoyed my stay here and the location is perfect as well.

Bitter B.

Yelp
So this is the sketchiest hotel I've have the privilege of staying at, the clientele all standing outside the hotel does not class the place up. It was very old, needing updating but the bed was clean, I don't think I would return! Don't trust google reviews!!!

Yelp
My fiance booked a 5 night stay not understanding what I said. We tried to cancel 3 hours later. Back and forth(Rudely with your first front desk woman who took her misunderstanding and put it on us) and could only cancel with one paid night. We decided if we are paying for the one night that though late let's enjoy the room. However upon going into the room at similar rates to Fairmont at the moment we were gravely disappointed. I worked in housekeeping in Banff for years and always do a look over. We found multiple holes patched in the wall. Was it a footprint or gun shot? Who knows? Looks like it on both parts. While doing my bed bug check we found multiple blood(?) Stains on the bed. Turned our head to the curtain beside the bed and more blood stains. There was also hair on the bed which obviously was not mine(purple) nor my fiances(curly black) as though black was short and not curly. Top bed sheets were also stained(one thing I gave up on pics of). The bathroom was gross. The ceiling...really? Repair needed. The bath tub? Stained...looks like someone had explosive diarrhea plus multiple hairs. Upon check out after two hours of decided even changing rooms or bedding I would not sleep...we left. I asked the clerk if this was normal and he said no. If it was not normal why would he not try to get us to stay? Because we already paid? Because we canceled a 5 day reservation for one night? He said this was business class...? What does the common class look like? Fucking gross.

Yelp
I was at a conference at the Radisson across the street, but unfortunately couldn't get a room there. What was briefly a panic ended up working out well due to The Marlborough. The building is old, and it shows some wear. From the outside, it seems a little bit sketchy - maybe not in the best neighbourhood. However, once inside, I was quickly greeted by the manager and staff. I arrived at 10am after an early flight, so expected to just leave my luggage and not be able to check in; instead, they got me in to a room right away. They put me on the 4th floor, which has locked hallways - I did appreciate that extra layer of security. I found my room relatively easily, down a hallway with fairly worn carpet and otherwise bare. The room was really small, but very nicely furnished - new bed, desk, dresser, large tv. They made good use of the space with lots of storage and wall-mounted amenities. Went for a very early Saturday morning run along the Red River - lovely, and no feelings of being unsafe. Aside from some of the people wandering around on the street late in the evening, this was a great place for a quick stay.

Yelp
This 100+ year old hotel is inexpensive and well located. The problem is that the hotel's boiler kept breaking down and takes forever to fix. We went one full day without hot water for showering and about three days without heat, just a small portable heater. The weather was very cold outside st the time.I doubt that I would stay here again, unless the management gives me a significant discount on my bill when I check out.
