The Marmorosch Bucharest, Autograph Collection (Bucharest, Romania) 2 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Set in a 19th-century bank building, the Marmorosch Bucharest, Autograph Collection is a love letter to the Belle Époque, its interiors paying generous tribute to both Art Deco and Art Nouveau, interpreted through the lens of contemporary luxury hospitality. The rooms mix modern comforts with varying degrees of grand period architecture, culminating in the wood-paneled Marmorosch Palace Suite. There’s a subterranean spa hewn from dark stone, and the restaurant, Blank, is named for one of the partners in the original Marmorosch-Blank banking concern. The Blank Bar & Lounge is a vast and ornate space that feels like the center of Bucharest society, while the Vault is more private but no less atmospheric." - Tablet Hotels

This is, without a doubt, the best hotel we have ever stayed at. The building is a former bank and is so beautifully restored it takes your breath away! The lobby and bar are open and grand yet still manage to be intimate and friendly. I highly recommend enjoying cocktails in the vault bar, which is open Monday-Saturday evenings. The rooms are immaculately clean and beautifully presented. In my opinion though, the thing that makes this hotel truly outstanding is the staff, particularly the concierge and bar staff. They are helping, attentive, knowledge and were definitely very forgiving of 4 old gits who had never been to Romania before and didn't have a clue what to do or where to go. We can't wait to visit again.

This hotel occupies a former national bank, and one of its most distinctive features is the bar, set inside the old vault. While it’s not as luxurious as the famous Ned in London, it’s still a unique and memorable spot worth a visit. The main hall, where meals are served, is impressive in scale and grandeur, though it can feel somewhat cold and impersonal. The spa facilities are compact but well designed, offering a pleasant experience. The pool, however, is very small—suitable for only a handful of strokes rather than a serious swim. Breakfast is well executed and a strong point of the stay. The biggest drawback, in my opinion, is the location. While the property is technically in the Old Town, Bucharest’s Old Town lacks the charm found in many Western European counterparts. Some streets nearby are poorly lit, several surrounding shops appear rundown, and the abandoned building opposite the entrance creates an uninviting first impression. In contrast, the area around the IHG hotel is livelier, with attractive shops and cafés—much more appealing for a longer stay. For that reason, I would not recommend this hotel for more than one night. Additionally, quality dining options are limited in the immediate area; for a good dinner, you’ll likely need to take a taxi elsewhere.

This was a fabulous hotel and our upgrade to a Heritage Room even though it was on the 2nd floor was super. We had dinner in The Blank and the food and service were terrific. We had a cocktail in The Vault, a original bank vault of the Marmorosch Bank. Fantastic ambiance. The best thing was the location, the hotel being in the Old City Section of Bucharest.

The Marmorosch is a restored historic bank headquarters in the center of old town in Bucharest. The common areas are luxurious yet comfortable. The rooms have been modernized in the restoration and are on the small size yet comfortable, clean and secure. The best part of the stay? Breakfast. The staff are highly attentive and accommodating. The chef and kitchen team offer high quality, freshly prepared delicious choices both hot, cold and room temperature. Favorites include the made-to-order egg dishes, the waffles, the dips and baked breads. The value of the room and stay are average. Would I stay here again? Yes. Would I recommend it to others? Yes.

An ok stay, I would not consider this a luxury property… is it nice, yes. We had a “Heritage” room, basically a large room with large bathroom, nothing particularly special. High ceiling had character.. Bathroom was large, beautiful large shower. Nice free standing tub with 4 large chips in it, could be dangerous. Toilet was bizarrely low! Almost as if for a child… very strange. No hot water for a day was not pleasant, but was solved next day. Gym is functional and nice, Vault bar a cute addition and nice cocktails, but you pay a premium of course. Lobby bar had nice service and a good Romanian Cabernet! Breakfast was comp as Titanium and is very nice, you can order off a small menu, or a large buffet. Service ranged from good to nonexistent. No housekeeping one day, no explanation or apology. Front desk staff could not crack a smile, we walked by 2 or 3 times a day for 3 days and barely got a hello at any time of the day, same with door staff.. not luxury service or feel. For Bucharest it is probably one of the “better” choices, but dont expect too much.

A splendid location to enjoy wonderful moments! The Staff is so genuine, welcoming and attentive, always doing their best to make your stay delightful. |At The Blank Restaurant the food is amazing, well-balanced flavors, tender meat and beautiful presentation. I adore the deer tartare ❤️ The sole meunière and mille-feuille with chocolate and salted caramel was also very good. The chocolate is so fresh and not too sweet. The service is impecable as always, great atmosphere, positive vibes. Mrs. Elena is so nice, always smiling and positive, attentive and profesional. She is so passionate and offers so much informations about the menu and the upcoming events. It is a pleasure to talk to her, she just makes your day better. I was very pleased that the staff remembers you even after a long time. It was great to see Udara again who impressed me during my first visit with how warm, attentive, professional and hard working he is. Mrs. Iuliana and Amir was also very professional and helpful. Always a pleasure to come back! |I highly recommend you also The Marmorosch Lounge and The Vault Bar for drinks and cocktails. |PS: The Marmorosch Signature Cocktail has a wonderful complexity.

Even though this hotel wants to sell itself as a five-star experience, the only true five-star feature is the historic building itself, which is indeed beautiful. Unfortunately, the service is very poor for the high prices they charge. The manager, Vlad, is extremely unprofessional—unattentive, lacking basic customer service, never smiles or greets guests, and comes across as cocky and unwelcoming. The staff in general is not trained to the standards of a five-star hotel. Every interaction feels like you’re interrupting their personal conversations, and instead of being assisted, you feel like a burden for asking. Even the bar attendant at The Vault Bar was unfriendly and unpleasant. The housekeeping is basic: the rooms are clean, but if you stay more than one night, they do not replenish essentials like soap, coffee, or toiletries. You constantly need to call reception to request them, which is unacceptable at this level of hotel. To make matters worse, the prices are extremely high and inconsistent—changing from night to night without justification—yet the service remains poor. Overall, it’s a very disappointing experience. Beautiful building, but everything else falls far below what you would expect, and absolutely not worth the money.

I regret to report that my recent experience at the Marmorosh Bucharest fell well below the standard expected of an establishment of its reputation. My principal complaint concerns the conduct and competence of a front desk employee, Stefan.||Although he boasted of his four years of experience and familiarity with the workings of the hotel, his handling of my reservation was both careless and dismissive. I had originally reserved a titanium-level suite for one night and requested an extension for an additional night. At the time of my inquiry, only the presidential suite or the lowest category of room was available. I expressed, with utmost clarity, that it was essential I not be inconvenienced by changing rooms mid-stay, and asked that my key be valid for the entirety of my reservation. While I was open to upgrading to the presidential suite, I requested a reasonable adjustment to its price given that it was unoccupied. Stefan, however, declined in a manner that was both patronizing and unaccommodating, leaving me no option but to accept a standard room.||The following evening, after a fifteen-hour excursion, I returned exhausted only to find that my room key did not function. This was precisely the inconvenience I had wished to avoid and had stressed at the outset. I was forced to return to reception, queue unnecessarily, and endure yet another inefficient re-issuance process — along with a redundant payment procedure for the second night.||At checkout, I was informed that my refund for the first night was significantly less than had been promised. At that point, I was so disheartened by the entire experience that I did not contest the discrepancy further.||This visit, my first to Romania, has left a regrettably poor impression. I encountered staff who were unhelpful, inflexible, and indifferent to the guest experience. Even at the bar, where I had hoped to enjoy a simple drink, the bartender’s manner was discourteous, her demeanor one of visible dissatisfaction with her duties.||In sum, my stay at the Marmorosh Bucharest was profoundly disappointing. The lack of professionalism, courtesy, and guest-focused service renders this hotel unworthy of recommendation. I shall not return.
