5 Haunted Hotels in Savannah, GA — One of America's Most Haunted Cities

"Opened in 1851 and later used as a hospital during Yellow Fever epidemics and as a Union hospital in the Civil War, this historic property was shuttered in 1957 and restored in 1999; its long, often tragic history is said to have left lingering apparitions, especially on the fourth floor where guests report footsteps, doors closing by themselves and children running through the halls — room 414 is frequently singled out for sightings." - Stacey Leasca Stacey Leasca Stacey Leasca is an award-winning journalist and co-founder of Be a Travel Writer, an online course for the next generation of travel journalists. 11 Haunted Hotels Where You Can Rest in Peace

"In the oldest city in Georgia, you are bound to hear a surplus of ghost stories. In Savannah, it seems every location has a unique set of ghost stories. The Marshall House is home to quite a few. This haunted history comes from the hotel’s time as a Civil War hospital. Between 1864-1865 Union troops wounded during the conflict were treated at the hotel. There have been reports throughout the decades of hearing/seeing ghosts in the hallways, sounds of doorknobs rattling, faucets with a mind of their own, and so many more ghostly tales. A visit to this former hospital may illicit a few disembodied voices or chilling touch from a former Union soldier." - ATLAS_OBSCURA

Stayed at the Marshall House four nights the first week in December and I have to say, the service and accommodations were great! The hotel was perfectly located on Broughton street within walking distance to all attractions, stores and restaurants galore. Dana was kind and very helpful while at the front desk as well as at the concierge and is full of positive energy. The entire hotel staff was wonderful. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast and 5pm wine and cheese with nightly guitarist singing favorite songs. We also had dinner at the restaurant 45 Deck accessible from inside the hotel. The food was delicious too! I was so happy that we booked our vacation in Savannah at The Marshall House while enjoying this historical city!

The Marshall House is truly the best place to be during the Christmas season. My family and I booked a stay at the JW Marriott before our time at the Marshall House, and we were amazed to find that the Marshall House made our experience at the Marriott feel almost dystopian in comparison. It’s undoubtedly the finest accommodation in Savannah, enriched with a fascinating history and captivating stories to share. The entertainment and wine hour is lacklustre, and the breakfast is awful however that is easily made up for by spectacular rooms, and a captivating history. The coffee is very good compared to other hotel coffee as well.

Recently really enjoyed a four day stay at The Marshall House to celebrate our anniversary. It’s a wonderful boutique hotel rooted in history and combining charm with simple modern amenities. The original flooring and staircases coupled with history throughout made the stay special. Customer service was excellent and friendly. Extra touches like wine and cheese every evening and different events were wonderful: music, virtual history tour, trivia pursuit. Our king sized room was comfortable and faced the front which provided nice natural light. Bathroom old tile style had good hot shower with decent pressure and nice amenities. Our one complaint (which technically reduces our rating to a 4.5) is that our mattress was extremely firm and not comfortable. Not sure if this is the case in other rooms. My wife felt pillows too hard although I was ok with them. Also needed more blankets especially during chilly evenings. No extra was left in room although I’m sure room service would have provided it if I had requested it. Housekeeping was great and the hotel is very clean and well maintained. We also really enjoyed our breakfasts which were provided with friendly, helpful table services. Nice options daily and they serve until 10am which we loved not being early risers. And finally the location was great (highly recommend eating across the street for dinner at Common where Marshall guests get a 15% discount and the food is terrific). The hotel location is perfectly located near the historic district and the riverfront as well as being on the shopping area. Overall, this fairly priced, high quality and inviting boutique hotel gets a top recommendation and a likely return visit.

Staying at The Marshall House feels like stepping back in time without giving up any modern comfort. From the moment we walked through the doors, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome with warm smiles, personal attention, and a real sense of pride in sharing the hotel’s history. They did not just hand us a key, they invited us to be part of the story. One of the highlights was the evening happy hour in the lobby, where guests gather over wine and conversation while learning about the building’s past. It is a small touch, but it captures the true spirit of Savannah — gracious, social, and full of charm. Our room was everything we hoped for, beautifully preserved with period details yet clean and comfortable. The air conditioning was nice and cold after a warm day exploring the city, and the bed was so comfortable it was hard to leave in the morning. The Marshall House blends history, hospitality, and comfort in a way few hotels manage. It is easy to see why it is one of Savannah’s most beloved places to stay. We will definitely return, not just to visit Savannah again but to stay here once more.

We always stay in Savannah at The Marshall House upon returning to Atlanta from Amelia Island or Jekyll Island. We just spent a night there and I must report our stay, although a little pricey, was as always delightful. The room was beautiful, up to date, and spotless. The included breakfast was wonderful. The staff were, as always, kind and helpful. We were allowed to check in at 1:00 PM, three hours before regular time. I have nothing but positive things to say about this hotel.

I don’t think my husband and I could ever say enough good things about our 10 year anniversary trip to The Marshall House! We spent 3 nights there and enjoyed every bit of it! From the valet, Christmas, greeting us in his awesome Pikachu outfit for Halloween, to reception with Martha, Dana, and Terry.. seriously, it was everything we could have hoped for! We had multiple nightly and daily conversations with them and they definitely made the stay that much better. Location is so close to everything you could hope for within walking distance. Rooms were so clean and kept up with daily housekeeping. And the wine and cheese hour, along with nightly music hour, were all fantastic! Would 10/10 recommend for any occasion to stay with them! And no.. no ghostly encounters for us on our stay :)

My husband stayed for our 2nd anniversary and could not have been more happy with our trip. The hotel staff was amazing, with it being a smaller hotel, I feel like the service was so personal and everyone knew us, even running into us away from the hotel. The social hour that the guests get to enjoy every evening in the library was one of our favorite things to do. Unfortunately, I did not get everyone’s names, however Dana at the front desk was great, she was there for any questions we had, she even made a phone call to set up the trolly service for us. All of the staff were friendly, happy to help, there was just a happy vibe with everyone. The rooms are on the small side and we knew that before booking, you also have to remember this hotel is old, so it’s not going to have the feeling of a luxury modern hotel, but that’s the charm. It was very clean and had everything we needed to make us comfortable. And if you are looking for a ghost, we had a couple things happen in our room that was unexplained… Great job Marshall House!

Google
Amazing historic hotel, very kind staff and for me and my family was a wonderful experience. The hotel is very well located, close to many restaurants and good store. They offer a brunch with wine and cheese, that was amazing, with music and very nice environment. The afternoon brunch is a courtesy and that happens every afternoon to the hotel guests. The breakfast was very good, have variety of food and very tasty. (Typical American breakfast)

Yelp
Our recent stay at The Marshall House Hotel on Broughton Street was truly unforgettable. From the moment we checked in, we felt welcomed and completely taken care of. The staff were so kind and attentive--always ready with a smile or a great recommendation for local restaurants and things to see around Savannah. The building itself is full of history and charm, with beautiful original details that make you feel like you're part of the city's story. It was also impeccably decorated for Halloween. Our room was spotless and comfortable, with elegant touches that made it feel special. We especially loved sitting out on the balcony overlooking Broughton Street--it was the perfect spot to enjoy the morning air before starting the day. Breakfast was a wonderful surprise--it's included in your stay and absolutely delicious. There was a great Southern selection of goodies and the service was attentive & prompt. Each evening they offer wine, cheese/crackers with a story teller in the beautiful drawing room/ lobby area . A huge surprise.. Ghost stories & wine.. What a treat The location couldn't be better--you can walk to all the shops, squares, and restaurants right from the front door. In the evenings, we loved coming back to unwind and enjoy the quiet charm of the hotel. The Marshall House truly captures what makes Savannah special: history, hospitality, and heart. We can't wait to return

Yelp
The Marshall House has everything you could want for a trip to Savannah!! You couldn't ask for a better location. The Marshall House is located directly on Broughton St near shopping and restaurants, and it's within walking distance of pretty much everything you will want to see! You will barely need a rental car for your trip. Despite being on the main road, I found the hotel to be pretty quiet! The historic inn is beautifully restored. Each room is unique. If you're lucky enough to get a front-facing room on the second floor, you have access to the shared balcony overlooking the street. My room was cozy and comfortable! There are cozy bathrobes in each room. The Marshall House has some unique amenities. They provide bottled water (both cold and room temperature) by the main desk for hotel guests! So great during the summer heat. They also have a complimentary wine and cheese reception every evening in the Library with entertainment (musicians, lectures, trivia, etc.) so make sure to include that in your trip itinerary! Breakfast is also included with the price of the room. Breakfast is served in the atrium off the library. You are seated by the wonderful staff, and then you check off/circle your order on the menu they provide. Breakfast comes off of a buffet, so it's a little odd not to just help yourself, but service is super quick! The Marshall House is in the running for most haunted hotel in the country, but I didn't have any ghost encounters while I was there unfortunately. It was fun to hear the stories of other guests and to learn more about the history of the hotel! I highly recommend staying at the Marshall House if you're looking for a comfortable stay in the perfect walkable location!

Yelp
The Marshall house is really a nice hotel. They know how to take care of you. From the pleasant people that work there to the morning breakfast to nightly wine and entertainment hour each day Besides being haunted if you are into the paranormal. They definitely take care of you there at the Marshall house. Next stay will be at Marshall house when we return to savannah And getting a balcony room again. That is always a plus.

Yelp
I love a spooky situation and booked the Marshall because it was supposed to be one of the most haunted in Savannah. Slanted floors, old portraits, and noises I couldn't quite place, it (sort of) delivered lol. The bed was softer than the Drayton's, which was a pleasant surprise. The rooms are small, historic, full of charm, and the wood floors reminded me of growing up in New Orleans. The location cannot be beat. It is right across from Common Restaurant and just steps from everything else you could want. We adored our stay here.

Yelp
I stayed here because it's an old civil war hospital and reportedly super haunted. I had no inklings of hauntings, but it was a fun one time stay! I stayed in the Mary Marshall Suite, which was spacious. The bed was comfortable. I loved soaking in the old claw foot tub and the shower had nice pressure. It was clean and well appointed. I loved the accessible balcony (it's shared, but super long and plenty of space, and I had my own little corner). It was WONDERFUL to drink my champagne (I chose the champagne welcome for 37.50, which was a good deal). However, it's important to realize you can only access the balcony through a ladder out the window, and it can be really hard on the knees. Older people or disabled people wouldn't be able to enjoy it probably. I'm able bodied and it was still hard on my knees. The room cost was in the 200s, but by the time the amenity fee and all the taxes were added on, it was over 400. I was pretty shocked. But you do get a social hour and live entertainment. All the free bottled water you need. The staff were reserved, but professional. I wish they had a later checkout than noon (noon is their late checkout and it's first come, first serve, otherwise it's 11 AM). But overall, very fun and unique stay, even if I didn't have any hostly encounters.

Yelp
Gorgeous historic hotel. It is definitely haunted, however. At the risk of sounding crazy, I tend to be very sensitive to energies, and have felt before like places have spirits present. Marshall House is next level though- when I first stepped foot inside, I actually thought, oh no what have I done (staying here). The energy was so intense I was a little freaked out, and even my skeptical husband could feel it. One night, the faucet turned on in our bathroom by itself in the middle of the night and my husband had to get up to turn it off. We didn't visually see anything, but at the risk of sounding real real crazy, one of the days we were sitting in the lobby sitting room enjoying happy hour when my husband tells me my face is bleeding. Out of no where I had a spontaneous scratch on the side of my face that was starting to bleed. Take that for what you will- it certainly was bizarre, especially because I didn't particularly feel like the energy was negative. All that being said, the hotels so beautiful and full of history, I might return if i am ever in the South again.

Yelp
The Marshall House is such a neat, historical piece of Savannah. They really did a great job of restoring / preserving the building. We recently stayed for one night. It is definitely on the pricier end for a nightly rate. However, there there are great included options. There is a wine-down evening every night with wine included and a historian that does a talk and q&a of the Marshall House and local Savannah history. There's also breakfast included which was solid. It is all you can eat but serviced and you order off a menu. One downside for me was I did not find the pillow to suit me well. If we would've stayed multiple nights, I would have looked to see if I could swap out for another pillow if possible. Other than that, everything was amazing. The staff is super knowledgeable and friendly. There is a spot onsite to mail letters and free postcards at the front desk. There's ice cold water bottles available free for guests near the front desk. I would recommend staying at the Marshall House on your visit to Savannah or an awesome spot for a staycation.

Yelp
We had a great stay at the Marshall House. Staff were very helpful and kind. The room was comfortable and we really enjoyed the history. It is an old building so the floors are creaky but that I really enjoyed how they incorporated the original building with some updates. The location is walking distance from many of the highlights is Savannah and I would love to stay here again. The breakfast is included. The quiche was very good and there were plenty of other options like biscuits and gravy and danishes. I would recommend staying here for anyone that is interested in the history of Savannah.

Yelp
Incredible hotel. Breakfast was incredible. They have a nice wine & cheese hour with entertainment every evening. The hotel is beautiful and we loved stayed here. The staff were so kind and friendly! My husband and I stayed in room 414 (the most haunted room) and we made a connection with the spirit in the room. Nothing malicious! The room was so comfortable. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Perfect location in historic Savannah. Easy walking everywhere including Leopoldo's Ice Cream. Rooms are beautiful with great shower. People are friendly and helpful. Good included breakfast with bacon eggs coffee & bagel!

Yelp
You cannot beat the location of The Marshall House. Staying on Broughton street allows you to easily walk to many shops, restaurants and points of interest in historic Savannah. Tell your sweet tooth to beware as you'll be right across the street from Byrd's famous cookies and a block down from Leopold's Ice Cream. Conveniently enough, you're also a very short stroll from where many walking tours/ghost tours start. Speaking of, The Marshall House is known to be haunted. We booked not knowing. While we had some issues with our room door not opening, we did not experience any hauntings otherwise. Once we spoke with the front desk, they explained the room doors are easier to open if you turn the handle up not down, that solved it! If you're looking for something that feels historic but well-maintained, The Marshall House is a wonderful option. The rooms are small, but they are clean and well-appointed. My favorite perk was the cold, bottled water in the lobby. It was so nice to have after lengthy hot walks in Savannah. A pretty good breakfast is also included in the lovely atrium off the lobby. Valet parking is not included but you can get a discount if you book direct through the hotel's website (avoid using a third party).

Yelp
I was visiting Savannah for the New Year's Eve and New Year. This is one of the beautiful historic buildings in Savannah. We didn't stay here but I wanted to check out the building. The staff is super nice and they told me that the ground floor of the hotel is open for visitors to take a look. From whatever I have seen, it's gorgeous and well maintained. Hoping to come here and stay in the future.

Yelp
Amazing hotel, excellent location in Savannah. This place was walking distance to almost every place we wanted to go, including the riverwalk and many restaurants and shops. The room had a window that opened to the balcony - wonderful views and people watching! Breakfast was included and made to order. The room itself was nice - really seemed like you were in a large house, and the bathroom had a claw foot bathtub which was pretty fun. Definitely recommend this hotel to anyone going to Savannah for a brief stay!

Patty S.

Yelp
From being greeted at our car upon arriving to the poor bell hop trying to Tetris our suitcases on the way out, we had a fabulous time. Perfect location, amazing staff (kudos to Patty), nightly mixer & breakfast on site. Don't hesitate to book. Clean and room was more spacious than it looked online.
google avatar

Robert S.

Yelp
Place is amazing and most definitely has paranormal activity! Bring cat balls, flashlight, and spirit talker app on your phone to do some ghost hunting in your room. I most certainly had activity!
google avatar

Nicholas G.

Yelp
I really like this place. It's old and charming and that's really all I need. The rooms are great, clean and homey. It's got a good location near all the nearby historic downtown things. It's got a free breakfast. The breakfast isn't a mindblower but you got a lot of options and it's nice to have a pretty good free breakfast that's in the same building you're staying in so you can get right to whatever your plans for the day are. It's not bad either. It's like diner quality. My only complaint was that the shower takes maybe 15-20 minutes to get hot and doesn't completely blast you with a waterfall of moisture. It was around 50 degrees during my stay so I was pretty cold taking a shower. Otherwise I pretty much loved it. I would stay here again.

Yelp
We have been wanting to stay here forever! We finally got the chance to stay the weekend. A very cool super historical hotel that is supposed to be haunted! Being it was a children's hospital and a civil war field hospital, I would say it has a good chance! The staff was amazing. From the valet to the check in process. There was a complementary wine and live music session in the evenings. It was very enjoyable. Great musicians and good wine that is included. Just do not forget to tip the bartender. There was even a really good breakfast included! It was good enough we cancelled our breakfast and brunch reservations and just ate here. The rooms were very nice with a great bed. Everything was very clean. Overall, a really good experience. I would love to come back sometime!

Yelp
Known as the Savannah Hotel with history, The Marshall House, has plenty of history dating back to when it originated in 1851. It was even used as a hospital for wounded Civil War soldiers and is said to have ghosts. I didn't see any but the hotel says they have the friendliest ghost in all of Savannah. I love staying in old historic hotels and The Marshall House is one of America's best. They preserved all the wood floors, and though they may creek a little, it just adds to the charm. Our room was on the small side but perfect since Beloved and I tend to snoozle up together; hence, have little need for a lot of room. The room itself was nicely appointed little desk, a good size TV, charming older time chairs, an armoire, and a most classic sink in the bathroom. Best of all, The Marshall House is located in the very heart of Savannah near most everything including, to my delight, Olde Pink House along with its wonderful restaurant and bar. The staff of The Marshall House really gave me five-star attention, were professional and polite.

Yelp
Of course, people will flocked this hotel because of its ghost stories... but The Marshall House is much more than just a haven for ghost hunters hoping to catch a peek at the undead roaming the halls at night... it's actually a wonderful hotel packed with Southern charm & hospitality. I stayed at The Marshall House for five days during my recent Savannah vacation. Yes, this hotel was a bit more expensive than some of the others... but I was drawn to the rave reviews I read online about the hotel & staff and the convenient location, all of which were absolutely right. The staff are incredibly friendly and extremely helpful in giving recommendations on things to experience while in the city. I appreciated their attention to detail and hospitality. The hotel itself is old, but well-maintained and clean. It's a historical building with lots of interesting stories. The room I was assigned was small, but very clean with a comfortable bed. There was a charming wine and cheese hour in the hotel lobby for guests every night, as well as some type of event - one night was a history of the Marshall house, told by a local historian, the next day was trivia night. The hotel is also situated perfectly in historic Savannah and within easy walking distance to everything. Although I did not see any ghosts during my stay, I did have a very pleasant experience at this hotel and recommend it!

Yelp
We're staying at the Marshall house right now. The staff is phenomenal. Specially, Dona and our new favorite Cary this will be the second time I booked From staying at their place, coming back in June so friendly and helpful love this hotel. The staff is amazing and our valet parking attendance tray is the best can't wait to come back in June for my anniversary. Angelina

Yelp
Loved this historic gem! Small notice hotel with amazing service. Rooms and common areas clean and neat. Live music with wine in lobby nightly on weekends. Staff is very attentive. Concierge is great. Valet parking offered.

Denise L.

Yelp
Dirty dirty dirty. Booked room through website and it said Free Breakfast...statement showed a charged of $40 per day and could not get a credit. Bathroom was stinky and dirt caked up against floorboards. Had to close bathroom door at all times because of smell. Take your own shower caddy. Nowhere to place anything except on the floor. Advertised microwaved and refrigerator but had neither in our room. The staff was super friendly.

Yelp
Wow, what a wonderful two-night stay at the oldest hotel in Savannah! Staff is very helpful and friendly. We stayed in Room 223, the Juliette Gordon Low suite (she is the founder of the Girl Scouts.) It is a large, two room suite. The living and bathroom are in the front part of the suite, and then past that is the bedroom. The bedroom is sort of long and a bit narrow. It has a TV, leather chair, mini dresser and tall armoir. The living room has a writing desk, small sofa that opens to a bed, TV, two side chairs and a small refrigerator. The bathroom is small with pedestal stink and shower (no tub.) Two windows in the bedroom overlook the breakfast atrium and four other windows overlooking an alley way. The suite is located at the end of a long corridor and is very private and directly across from the fire exit/stairwell. Daily housekeeping service. Complimentary cold bottled water in lobby. Each evening at 5pm, they serve complimentary wine in the big parlor across from the front desk. On Monday evenings at 530pm, there is a historian who talks about the history of Savannah and the Marshall House for about an hour. On Tuesday evenings, trivia. Breakfast is include with your stay. It is served daily from 7-10am. It was a buffet, but now, you are handed a paper when you are seated, and each person at the table marks off checkouts of what they would like for breakfast. The server collects your paper and your selections are served to you just a few minutes later. There's two quiche options, cereals, fruit, assortment of breads, scrbled eggs, sausage and bacon. Nice selection and ok tasting. Pretty location within the hotel.

Yelp
Stopped here for a night before heading to SC. So my husband has a ghost obsession and he heard from a coworker that this place has its own stories and you are never "truly alone". Needless to say I was not impressed nor looking forward to this stay. Once I walked in the lobby and we checked in the place was clean, cozy with an old eerie feel. I liked it. We got there right in time for wine happy hour so I was immediately in a better mood. The lobby area was super clean and cute and our wine server "Chyna" was the best (thanks for the many glasses of wine!! And the bottle in our room!). All of the staff were good and made us feel at home they had no problem telling us the legends, stories and answering all questions. The rooms were older obviously because the place itself is older but the rooms were spotless and very comfy. We were on the 3rd floor so I heard tons of rumbling coming from the 4th floor but I was also told that that was the ghost children running around and the nurse telling them to stop!! Hmmmm lol either way the place was super cool even for a skeptic like myself. The breakfast that's included was amazing and the staff were absolutely hilarious. My only complaint is we only stayed one night! I would love to go back prob for St patty's day. I hear the whole town is a party!

Yelp
Great location, beautiful old hotel, extraordinarily friendly and helpful staff. They treat their guests so well! Complimentary hot breakfast is full service and delicious. They serve nightly wine and cheese with entertainment in the beautiful lobby. This is probably the best service of any hotel I've stayed in. Central location..walking distance to everything.

Yelp
We stayed here for 3 nights over our 5 year anniversary trip to Savannah. This was so nice! The Juliette Gordon Low room is where we stayed. It was quiet, well appointed and at the end of a hallway, so no unnecessary foot traffic. Upon our arrival we found a bottle of champagne on ice congratulating us on our 5 year anniversary ... what a thoughtful touch! The staff is all super nice too! Every evening they have a social hour with free flowing wine! They also have a different event every night. The first night was a historian which we loved! What a lovely introduction to the area! The second night was trivia and the last night was a local musician! Other reviewers mention a loud droning of the AC unit...that is true....but our room had two thermostats so we turned our bedroom off at night and just let the living room cool the space. It wasn't loud at all. We would not hesitate to stay again or recommend this place to fiends and family. A.+!

Yelp
Clean comfortable rooms, friendly staff. Plenty of hot water and small details through the hotel. Free glass of wine in the evenings in the library. Fantastic stay

Yelp
From the moment we arrived, we knew we had chosen the perfect place. The structure is historical and charming and is in a perfect location. We enjoyed wine socials every evening with other guests. The staff know what world class customer service is and provided exactly that until we checked out. We will only stay here any time we return to Savannah.

Yelp
They say it haunted!! What a cool and a neat place! Our family and friends of 16 all had the privilege of staying here for a long weekend and it did not disappoint. So Many wonderful things to say about this place!! We also did a ghost tour and found out really cool things about the place but not sure how accurate the info is. 1. It's been here since the 1700s and have served as a hospital twice during the war. There are 4 floors and they say the 4th floor is the most haunted as they had to put the worst critical patients on the top floor so they can't be heard screaming from the 1st floor. 2nd floor were supposedly mostly kids and women that stayed here and there is sightings of little kids and voices and sounds of marbles rolling around. Eerie! We didn't get a chance to see or hear anything but a few of our party say they heard and felt a few things during our stay! Our ghost tour guide also mentioned how this place had so much limbs found in the basement back in the day. 2. The location is pretty amazing. We were able to walk everywhere where we wanted to go. It was a quick 15-20 minutes walk with a big group but if your group is smaller, maybe 10 mins to everything else. 3. Omg the softest towels, bedding, and had such incredible sleep! Such comfy beds and pillows!! Wish it was mine back home! 4. The hospitality is top tier. We were all welcomed and they serve bottles of water 24/7. They have amazing community nights where they serve complimentary wine or champagne with live music!! The free breakfast is amazing and they have it at a beautiful indoor courtyard. Coffee and tea is also served in the lobby 24/7. Our group of 19 did have a hard time finding food to enjoy all together but our hotel mentioned we can bring it and enjoy it together in the lobby and that worked well late night. One night we enjoyed late night pizza together and another pub food. 5. The last day, some of us had later flights so we were able to leave our bags with the reception desk while we explored. On our way back, it started to pour rain and we did not have umbrellas. We managed to get back before it really poured but we did get still rained on and got wet. In the lobby, they had someone handing out HEATED towels to every guest that entered Marshall house. HEATED TOWELS. Class A service. I was so impressed and blown away by this establishments hospitality. I highly recommend staying here. 100/100 would recommend staying here!!! Thank you so much for an amazing stay and with lifetime of memories.

Yelp
Very cool old historical hotel. This is always a stop in every ghost tour because it was a hospital during the civil war. They've kept up the original features throughout the hotel which is really neat and adds to the creepiness of this place. The breakfast area is a really beautiful solarium. They also have an adorable gift shop.

Yelp
We enjoyed our stay and love the charm offered by Marshall House! The staff was friendly and always helpful. We stayed in a king balcony room #218. It was clean and comfortable. Going through the window to the balcony was hoot! It adds to the unique vibe of staying in a historic building. No signs of ghost to note of, but I did find it interesting that at times I felt like I was on a cruise ship. Like we were moving, but I know we weren't? That's the only thing I noticed that made me think hmmm.... wonder if that's something spiritual shaking down around here. We were in walking distance to anything we wanted. Although Broughton St. had construction going on, you could still enjoy the energy of the town with everyone checking out the shops, restaurants, and bars. The complementary wine from 5-6:30pm and breakfast was fabulous! It's definitely worth the splurge to stay here.

Yelp
My husband and I like many others chose to stay at the Marshall House because of the tales of it's hauntings. We stayed on the 2nd floor and didn't get much activity but it was still a nice stay. The front desk people were friendly and phenomenal. I love that they offered complimentary water, wine and cheese tasting, and free wifi. The hotel was so fancy I felt like I was out of my element but everyone there made me feel so welcome.

Yelp
The staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel & the rooms are historic and charming. We loved the happy hour with entertainment. It was walking distance to everywhere we went.

Yelp
Great find in Savannah. We were looking for something with lots of historic charm, convenient location and for a reasonable price and this checked all the boxes. Service was great! The free breakfast really added to the value and had some great options, setting it apart from a typical free hotel breakfast. They also had complimentary wine with an activity every night in the lobby from 5-6:30. The first day we arrived just before 6 and when I went to ask how long they'd be there since we were unloading still, she asked what we wanted and gave us the full bottle to enjoy in our room as we settled in. They also provide complimentary bottled water at room temp and chilled in the lobby to grab as you come and go. The location was so convenient to everything we did. I didn't really map out the restaurants we had planned in relation to the hotel before we came but everything was within a 5-10 minute walk. This hotel was a bit of a compromise along our road trip as the kids really wanted a pool but I'm glad we overruled them and went with the Marshall House. I don't think the value can be beat!

Yelp
Our experience at the Marshall House was wonderful. It is a beautifully restored and maintained building that is reminiscent of a bygone Era. The staff is friendly and helpful as well. I was a little disappointed when I happened to glance up at a vent in the bathroom (room 412). It appeared to be an exhaust vent, but regardless, it was caked with dust inside that I can only guess has built up over a decade or more. An indicator that they should probably do a thorough A/C duct cleaning of the building. The claw foot bathtub with a suspended shower was doable, but a little inconvenient for taking a shower since the in-tub curtain blocked any place to put a bar of soap or bottle of shampoo. The tub itself had been refinished some years ago, and the finish was chipping off in different places, which detracted from the overall cleanliness look of the place. I chose to look at our visit more like an experience, an adventure to enjoy all the quirks and all the positives this hotel offers. We would definitely stay again, but it would be nice if some of these things were addressed.

Yelp
Loved this hotel. Staff was super friendly, the included breakfast was great and it is centrally located. I asked to stay on the fourth floor because it is supposed to be haunted. I didn't see a ghost (though the water in my bathroom sink turned itself on at about 2 am).

Yelp
We had a fantastic stay at the Marshall House. People were super friendly and helpful with planning our day of sightseeing Savannah. It's a really cool old building, decorated accordingly. The location is perfect- walking distance to anything you might want to see. Hotel is clean and a nice breakfast served. There is a happy hour each evening where they serve wine and cheese. Not only that, but one night they ran a trivia game, on our second evening there was live music. It was a lot of fun! My only complaint is that the air system in the room was pretty loud. But it's an old building so probably not much they can do about that.

Yelp
My daughter and I had a wonderful stay here . The staff is so friendly and inviting . Our room was charming, and the wine and cheese in the afternoon and breakfast is a nice touch and makes it feel more like a bed and breakfast experience. The restaurant is very good as well .

Yelp
My husband and I recently stayed a night here since the military ball was downtown Savannah. Check-in was a breeze and staff were extremely friendly and courteous. I've been eying this hotel for some time and I'm so glad we got to spend a night in this swanky place. Just the exterior alone has sold me a million times but the inside is just as gorgeous. It's a pretty upscale hotel but off course it puts its southern charm with it. I loved that they had a wine and cheese hour as well. Especially when you have a kid-free night those extra touches are always a plus. The rooms are smaller but have so much charm as well and this hotel really puts the customers comforts first. From robes in each room to free water bottles in the fridge and many other small touches I felt the full on southern charm and felt totally at home. They now offer free breakfast for guest as well and the location in the hotel was gorgeous though for how beautiful this hotel was I wish they'd have a better buffet. In all though we had an amazing night here and would definitely recommend this hotel to anybody wanting to get the full Savannah experience.

Yelp
We had an incredibly comfortable stay here last week. Must have been the best sleep I've had in months. Everything was clean and well stocked. The service is incredibly attentive but not intrusive. Others have mentioned free bottled water, both cold and room temperature, and the free wine every evening. Complimentary breakfasts were solid with sit down ordering. The hotel is in perfect location next to modern shopping, walk distance to river street and other landmarks. Consider the free DOT shuttle to move about historic areas, squares and parks. The hotel is old bones. The best kind of wood used in the era of its construction. The floors and hallways are not level and contorted to provide an almost eerie sensation. Being a site of frequent haunted occurrences, this adds to the effect. Nevertheless, the hotel is meticulously cared for, ever detail polished and maintained. It was the best hotel on our five hotel journey by a landslide.

Yelp
I had a very pleasant stay at the Marshall House. The rooms were nice. I stayed in a double queen. The bathroom is a good size and there is a big armoire and a TV. The beds were very comfortable and had many pillows. The room was also at a nice cool temperature. Additionally the Wifi was fast. The atmosphere is very cool. The hotel looks and is very old and when you walk around the halls you can feel that the hotel is haunted. Sadly I had no ghost encounters myself but the front desk gave me a packet of ghost stories to read. I would also like to add the staff are extremely hospitable. Every time we walked in to the hotel they welcomed us and they also gave us very good recommendations. The staff is also very patient and will stop to have a conversation with you if they are not too busy. All in all I was very pleased with my stay here and I hope to return next time I am in Savannah.

Yelp
Stayed here on our way to Florida on a recommendation. It was super simple to book a room , nothing special - no suite. We pulled up for valet parking , didn't want to hunt for self parking. Walked into the lobby , plenty of staff to assist you , even cold water bottles for those hot days . We were given a room on the third floor , just around from the elevator. I was concerned about that , all the potential noise from it. It was a cute room , ample space , the floor did creak a little when walked on. It was also downhill to the bathroom, a little bit of a challenge. Nice bathroom , however no real place to put a cosmetic bag , no I don't travel with a huge bag. I did find the shower slightly cozy , the grab bar was a challenge. We were there on a Tuesday night , when it was trivia night at the complementary wine hour. Each night they have a different theme at the wine hour. Cliff was the perfect host , it was a fun experience. We did not have a ghostly visit that night , it was a calm night . Also on the third floor there is a third floor history tour, scan the SKU and go . Plenty to look at and experience. When in Savannah next we will look forward to staying at this lovely property.

Yelp
This place and the staff were great. We wanted a haunted stay and they gave us room 414. We had some unique experiences. So much so that we wrote a story about it. We think we even captured a picture of the ghost in 414. Too long to paste here, so here is the link: https://medium.com/@christopheridavis/we-spent-3-nights-in-a-haunted-hotel-room-78ad75966bee Very much recommend staying here - even if you don't want a ghost experience. Its a great location and part of Savannah history.

Yelp
I booked a trip for my daughter and I for a weekend at the Marshall House. After reading/hearing the hype I was disappointed. It looks quite nice from afar, but when you're closer you can tell that everything needs to be replaced and cleaned better. Yes, it is a historical inn and needs to look authentic, but it needs upkeep. The rugs throughout are worn, furniture in the sitting room is worn and the springs need to be redone. The tubs are old, claw tubs (which is lovely) but the shower curtains are abysmal. They are a bit too big for the tub, so the material sags in and constantly clings to your body as you're trying to wash yourself. I'm not a big girl, I can't imagine how it would be for a larger/average person. The staff is polite but very clipped. For the price point you can choose other locations with better accommodations. I spent the same amount down at the Mansion on Forsyth which is an easy walking distance from Broughton.

Yelp
Lovely old building, quaint rooms, friendly helpful staff, loud obnoxious locals doing burnouts and throttle blips, and playing loud bass woofers that literally shook the fourth floor sash windows of the hotel. Turns out Spring Break week is a nuthouse here. Burnout contests and drag races continued till 2:30am. One genius did donuts and burnouts on every floor of the parking garage across the way, once on the way up, and once on the way down. The police seem helpless or seem to ignore this ilk. Savannah itself is not worth visiting anymore after 20 years of doing so, rather than any bad marks for the hotel per se, but if you stay here in the Spring, expect a ruined nights sleep. After a long travel day, instead of rest, I am venting in the lavatory at 3:00am. Spoke too soon, they are still at it with the bass woofers and drag races at 3:00 am.

Yelp
Delightful hotel, staff was courteous and kind. Appreciated the breakfast and wine service. Lots of history, and maybe even a ghost sighting or two!

Yelp
Absolutely wonderful accommodations. I would return in a heartbeat. Historic, charming, quirky, VERY helpful and friendly staff. It's a high end hotel with pricing that reflects it's star rating, and yet we were disappointed that on 2 of our 3 nights we had some pretty trashy neighbors in the room next door braying and carrying on all night. Motel 6 kind of behavior. You pay more money in the hopes of avoiding these crass individuals yet there they were. To the staff's credit they dealt with the issue after a complaint as the 2nd night was just ridiculous. This hotel is in a great location between the river and the historic district. Nice breakfast every morning, free wine every evening with some sort of entertainment (trivia night, historic talk, guitar player - so nice!) Immaculately clean. Apparently haunted. We can't WAIT to go back. Thanks Marshall House!
