The Mason's Arms

Great pub for food and drinks. After searching around Solihull for somewhere that wasn't going to cost us a fortune for lunch we wondered past this gem of a pub. The interior looked great with a traditional pub setting with plenty of room. It was a hot day so we sat outside where there was also plenty of seating and televisions for sports. The bar has a great range of drinks including craft beers. The service was friendly and the service is fast. The food selection is also very good with quite a range. We ordered the chicken wing platter with honey sauce and the sauce was amazing. Also ordered was a shiitake mushroom burger which was huge! Great value for money! All the food was very much enjoyed. I would recommend this pub to anyone! Great if just stopping by for a quick drink or for a meal. Thank you to all the team! Great work all round.

Nice selection of food, I enjoyed different kinds of tacos. If you like vintage interiors you will love that one 💕 Portions are not very big, and I don't like that leaving email address is required of you like to place your order via phone. Nice place, I am happy to visit it again if I'll be somewhere around

First time visiting. Nice atmosphere, staff were quick at serving me and food came out at a reasonable time. I had the fish and chips and a cup of tea for £8.25. good value for money. I will try and pop in again to try something else on the menu. Thank you. Keep up the good work. The only thing I didn't see was a kids menu. Was thinking about bringing the family next time.

I really enjoy the atmosphere that this pub provides, there are very friendly staff who are always eager to provide the best service. I find bartender Ben to be incredibly friendly and easy going, with easy conversations and great service. I really recommend this place both for the atmosphere and staff.

Sorry that this pub could not bring itself to find a small part of the pub for dogs, looking at the shabby state of the outside (from the wrong direction it looks derelict) it is clearly struggling or it would be tidied up. There is only one group of pubs that stick to the no dog, the rest of the big boys are now dog friendly and thriving. Just think approximately 1/3 of households have dogs, so why affectively bar a third of the punters. I travel the length and breathe of the country and visit pubs and have found that pubs with no dog policies are generally less friendly and what's more are the first to close down. Not only the above but read stuff on line saying dog friendly! Well we got told to leave!!??Good luck with the future but me and my family will not be back. In reply to your reply, I here what you say in your reply but I will simply say you don't bar all ginger people because one plays up in the pub so why all dogs, simply a lame excuse for an unfriendly attitude

A lovely English pub, with a broad range menu. I had a wonderful lunch there last week. Not overpriced like a lot of places, lovely, pleasant staff behind the bar to take orders and bring your food to you AND you are asked if there is anything else that you need. Plus, they take cash which is good for tourists. Oh, and the food was excellent.

Nice pub when inside very different to what I thought it was better cosy little sections to seat and have your meal also had outside garden the food came out very hot and I did enjoy my meal my friend had gluten-free meal food was great value for money £8.25 With a drink, lemonade or Pepsi staff were very nice and welcoming with a smile

Always great service, Ben especially had my drink waiting and he always checks if I want food every time I visit, good conversation and a nice person. Creates a great atmosphere whenever I visit

Visited this bar last night as me and my girlfriend came down from Scotland to visit family in Solihull. Really looking forward for a good night out and had been advised to visit The Mason Arms and heard good things about it. How WRONG could we be. Waited a while to get served at the front bar which we didn't mind because we appreciated it was a Saturday night. However when we eventually got served we handed over a Scottish £20 note only to be told by the women behind the bar "sorry we dont accept these". We said but it is sterling and its all we have she went "sorry we have had loads of fakes and cant accept it as my manager has told us". We were not only mortified but also embarrassed at this absolute ludicrous rule. Sterling is STERLING! I could understand if it was a euro note!! A man kindly swapped his £20 over so we could pay for our drinks. We stayed for one drink which by the way the glasses stunk and were filthy. Will never be returning here again and will be warning others about this as well. Absolute disgrace dont visit.

My family lives in Solihull, and we visit as often as we can. We frequent the different bars and restaurants in the center of town, and today we voted on Mason's Arms for a few drinks. Upon walking in, we were greeted by a barmaid who asked to see my 22-year-old sister's ID card, which was fine (she looks young, and the drinking age in the UK is 18). But once she saw that the ID card was from Massachusetts, she did not know what to do, and said she could not accept it as a form of identification. The manager on duty (who was on the side of the bar having drinks with friends) was even less helpful and did not want to hear any of it! Should he not be there to provide customer service to his guests..!? I suppose he is confused... Anyways, my aunt and sister left, and the rest of us finished our drinks as quickly as possible so as not to support this establishment any longer than we had to. Needless to say, we will not be returning, and do not recommend anyone else to either.

Plenty of rich Masonic types live in the renowned middle class suburbia of Solihull, so it is no surprise that a pub exists here that is called The Masons. My Mom and Dad had their wedding reception here, so it should really have a special place in my heart; sadly it doesn't. I think it was called The Malt Shovel many years ago, but I've always known it as The Masons and I've drank in here more times than I care to remember. The Masons was the first pub I ever had a pint in. I had just passed my GCSE's and came in for a celebratory drink. I had to be carried out at the end of the night. I was living in Solihull at the time and always seemed to end up here with my older cousin. I always remember huge fights going on inside and outside, especially on the weekends and on Sunday night, a night where they sold cheap drinks. It was my cousin that was usually at the centre of most of the fights that happened there. Today my perspective has changed. I came into The Masons in the daytime and ordered a delicious pub lunch of fish n chips and a side order of peas. The pints are served in over-sized glasses and the beer and ales are all delicious. I love the malty and hoppy smell of a good pub. The pub is large and contains many gambling machines for all you punters out there. It would be a nice place to take the family and the police have more of a presence in Solihull these days, so the nights are safer. I personally would probably not come here for a night out; I prefer to travel into the City Centre for my fun and games.

The Mason's Arms is, from the outside, a charmingly old-fashioned pub, clearly not interested in modernising their building in favour of retaining some sense of their heritage and history, which is always nice to see, and immediately attracted me to the pub. I've only been in a couple of times, both in the day, and I much preferred the atmosphere than at the Saddler's Arms, where it's hard to not feel like the few regulars are all sizing you up as you go in. Drinks prices are par for the course, and the food is well priced, but nothing out of the ordinary for pub grub. The real selling point is the ambience inside - it almost feels as though you've gone back in time, and it's a great place to put your feet up, relax with a pint and watch the world go by out of one of the large bay windows.

Found at the top end of Solihull. Olde worlde style in my opinion but very cosy and comfortable at the same time. You enter and it feels very small as the bar is just infront of the entrance but it opens up on both sides and has some nice comfortable seating around the pub. Cheap food can be enjoyed here and good quality, lovely baguettes are avaliable and are worth a try if you are visiting.

This pub is a bit scruffy and the decor 'worn'. It does have a fairl cheap menu and the food is ok.

I have only recently ventured into this pub when in need of a nice hot coffee one morning with a friend who was in need of some breakfast. I paid £1 for a nice large coffee and the breakfast was £2. I was happy with the visit and have returned a few times since. Staff are friendly and they have some good offers on the food

Sad to see some poor reviews. I've eaten lots of times here and never had a problem. Nice pub, great value and good atmosphere.

Out celebrating my daughters 21st bar staff only seemed to be serving one end of bar, which they seemed to know (friends,regulars) I called up the bar and asked if they could serve both ends if bar (there was 3 bar staff), when a friend try to buy me a drink he was told I was rude and not serving him a drink for me, went to speak to manager he just said your rude and walked off, I call that rude pig ignorant if you ask me

This is now only a pub to have a nice drink in, used to be good but since the recent change in staff it is dreadful. I ordered a meal 2 weeks ago and it arrived half an hour later only to be the wrong food. I sent it back and still some of the advertised ingredients were missing. It meant that my companion and I ate separately which is not what it's about. I will continue to pop in for my pint of Worthington's but will not stay for 3 or 4 or buy meals. A truly disappointing situation to what was a great pub over the years.
