15 Golf Clothes and Gear to Pack for The Masters

"An iconic April tournament that effectively kicks off the golf season; spectators should expect strict security and bag-size rules (only very small bags are allowed) and plan accordingly. Essentials include polarized sunglasses to combat glare when watching drives, layered clothing and a lightweight rain jacket for unpredictable spring weather, sun protection, a slim wallet, and small bottles or single-use sunscreen packets to meet size limits. Foldable chairs are generally permitted but must meet tournamentchair guidelines, and arriving early is recommended to buy souvenirs and secure a good viewing spot." - Jillian Dara Jillian Dara Jillian Dara is a writer, editor, and fact checker for more than a dozen publications in the lifestyle genre. First, I want to say that I went to the office this morning to speak with someone about my concerns and I was told that they didn't have time to speak with me because they were so busy catching up from the long weekend. So my hopes here are to give others fair warning if you're looking to move here and to get the attention from someone at the corporate office, since local management is too busy, to discuss finding a better parking space (that I pay $40 extra a month for). I've lived at The Masters for about 2.5 years, and for the majority of that time, I had no major concerns. Sure things happen but maintenance has been quick to respond. About ten weeks ago, a neighbor damaged a lot of property. Thankfully they no longer live here, but for weeks it was tense and there was no semblance of concern for the residents who shared a building with this person. This tenant's erratic behavior continued and the only updates we were offered as residents were from the IMPD officers who were here almost daily. I spoke with the property manager once (at my request). There were no further updates offered, no check-ins, nothing from the apartment management. My front door was feet from where this hammer-wielding person lived, and not once did any of us living in the building receive even an email stating what was happening, or actions being taken to ensure our safety. While some of the damage has been repaired, the doors to the four buildings impacted have yet to be replaced. While there was an initial cleanup completed, every time these heavy doors slam shut, more glass comes loose. This is a major safety hazard and, at least in my building, it's one of the residents who is picking up/vacuuming glass every other day. 10 weeks now and we're still dealing with this. Over the past few months there has also been a decrease in the time spent maintaining the property. While full dumpsters happen, there has been furniture sitting next to almost every dumpster for months. Add in rain, animals making nests in there, trash overflowing and falling on the ground, you name it. There is trash all over, the place is littered with cigarette butts, broken glass, nails and screws. There is clearly no regard for cleanliness here either. Then yesterday, while parked in my dedicated and paid for spot, the back window of my car was shattered from a golf ball hit from the course across the street. This is not the first time my car has been hit here, and golf balls are a frequent occurrence. I want to make it clear that I'm not holding the apartments responsible for this - I'm working with the city and the IMPD on this. I just wanted to cancel my reserved parking or get a new spot, and share this information per the IMPD's recommendation and work toward collaboration with the city on safety barriers. Long story, short - current management has no regard for the safety or security of the residents or our personal property and according to their front desk, they're too busy to listen. If you're thinking about moving here, I would just take a short drive through the property and see it for yourself. It used to be nice, but now it's definitely not worth the price listed on their site.

Where to start with masters. On the outside it looks pleasant, nice ponds and standard apartment accommodations of pool and gym. However, the pleasantries stop there. The place is rife with poor communication and major turnover of staff both within the leasing office and on their maintenance team. To the point of losing whole work orders for residents and failing to care for their residents health from their housing. We suffered from a leak in the roof for over a year. The leak effected not only our apartment but our upstairs neighbor's residence. Resulting in significant black mold and damage to both our outdoor storages and a hole in our living room for well over a month. A hole that was completely forgotten as the staff maintaining the complex left and no notes were left about the issue. Then for the hole to be fixed, and the leak to persist from the roof, with the only fix being a once a month bleaching to prevent too much mold regrowth until complex wide roof fixes would be done. Further speaking of communication, it's like they don't want you to actually live here. They may send one resident the lease renewal and completely neglect the other. Then go back on any word they promised the first resident. And only when your lease is up will they tell you, oh and your renter's insurance isn't applicable, despite having had it for the two plus years you have lived with them. Then when asked to address why this was communicated so poorly, they'll ghost you until you confront them again and suddenly they have never talked to you before. It's laughable how poorly things are handled. The assistant property manager, Kayla, did not reply to an email from both my partner and I nor did she notify us if she received the email or was working on the situation where we have been trying to renew our lease for over 2 months. When I called the office during business hours, no one answered. When I went to the office to talk with her, I saw her walk into her empty office and she refused to speak with me saying said she would call me later that afternoon relayed by the secretary.

I lived here many years ago when the area was more desirable. But I have moved back and I’m very happy. This is not a nice neighborhood but this is the only complex I would live in for the area. I love the grounds and it’s by Sahms park and the Monon trail. My apartment is nice and affordable. The buildings are fob access only. I have no real security concerns. Maintenance has been great so far. And I haven’t had to deal with the office much but my move in experience was fine. Don’t get too turned off by the bad reviews unless you are snob. In which case, I hope you can afford Fishers or Carmel.

Been here coming up for 5 months, and I must say I enjoy living in this community. Concerned residents post about lost dogs or things that are out of place on the community board. The office informs you well in advance when they need to enter your place. I only had one maintenance request, which was done promptly, and they cleaned the area (repaired the washer motor). They even have breakfast for us at the office this Wednesday, but it's from 9:30 - 11:30 when most are already gone to work, but hey, B for effort. Again, after five months in, I would recommend a friend. Oh yeah, my March Madness Vibe

Don't rent from here. If you lose your job they will charge you over $5000 to leave. Also caught mice in the apartment as well as neighbors have the same problem. Maintenance is nice so that's a plus

My daughter and I have been living here since July 2024 and the only issue we've had so far is the washing machine wasn't working right. I put in a service request and they promptly brought another washer the next day. That one wasn't working right either, so I put in another service request and they came a couple days later with a washer that works just fine. The only complaint I have is there isn't enough light in the living room and being on the bottom floor facing north, we don't get any sunlight either. I have a couple of lamps, but the living room is still too dark for my liking. We have not had to deal with any rodent or insect issues like I've read in other reviews and maintenence is always responsive and prompt at fixing any issues. The people in the office always answer their phone and answer any questions I have. Overall, our experience has been really good so far.

I have lived in this complex for well over 5 years and I have been very happy with my apartment. The staff has always been helpful and nice. I am very happy with the Access control system I am a locksmith by trade and I know how expensive the devices are. I feel safe and secure here. I have had to move from my first apartment to a upstairs apartment, i am in the process of moving to first floor apartment. Again I do not have any complaints and would recommend the Master's Apartments to anyone!

DO NOT MOVE HERE! The staff, including the property manager are extremely rude, unprofessional, and they do not care about their tenants. I attempted to address a concern I had with the property manager after they made a HUGE error on my account. I was given every excuse about why they had no responsibility for their system and was told she did not have time to address my issue and then she rudely dismissed me from her office. They do not complete work orders or the work order magically disappears. I have been waiting for repairs to my apartment for over a year. They take no accountability on their end for anything and then will threaten to evict you. Any error on their end becomes the financial responsibility of the tenant. This place is in a beautiful area but is ran like low income housing. I attempted to contact the management company, Sheehan Property Management. They did not answer and they do not even have a voicemail set up to leave any messages. The hallways are filthy. No one has cleaned the hallway in my building for months. Steer clear of this place!! As soon as I can, I am moving to a place that truly cares about their tenants. They sucker you in up until lease signing and then it is all down hill from there!

Yelp
I've been living here for years, very nice place to call home. Clean campus, nice gym, nice pool. Maintenance team comes out to see you either the day you request them, or the day after. Only thing I don't like is that they are doing a lot of home inspections recently. I don't know why. That's not enough to knock off a star though. Hope I can continue to stay here until I'm ready to go.

Yelp
So here's the thing... I've lived here for 2 years, and it's got a pretty lake view, but that's about it. I pay $1169 for a 2 bedroom with my brother. They've been "under construction, pardon the mess" for the 2 years I've been here. Also, both years, the pool wasn't open until late June/early July. The leasing office is very friendly and personable- in person. It is rather hard to get ahold of them over the phone. The maintenance team is rather lazy. For instance, my kitchen door had rusted hinges and completely fell off. I called them to replace it, and they just switched the kitchen door with my bathroom closet door! I now have a rusted/fallen door in my bathroom. My dishwasher also doesn't drain properly, and they came in to look at it- nothing has changed. The neighbors aren't bad- although recently the neighbors next to us were evicted and replaced by new tenants bc of constant screaming/slamming doors/violence, and they had the cops called on them 3 times!

Yelp
I moved to The Masters in 12/2022. I have a 2/2. The common hall is a full bath with a shower, not tub. I needed 2 toilets so that works. The apartment itself comes with w/d and the balcony has a screened in porch. Landscaping looks good. Only thing is, it contributes nothing to your day to day living in one of the units. In August 2023, I started seeing roaches and this is a deal breaker for me. I can deal with many things but roaches isn't one of them. The rent is too high to be having this issue and I can afford the rent, but I cannot afford a roach problem. The office told me that it's the apartment underneath me, which I already suspected because I know I didn't bring in any. The parking sucks really bad. Sometimes I can't even park in front of my building and have to park around the corner from my unit and carry groceries and such. They spent a bunch of money building garages that they have the nerve to charge about $125 a month for which no one even uses because they're too expensive. They sacrificed parking spaces to build these to force people to rent them but they don't. Just wasteful! The hallway is gross as they don't even clean them. They literally count the nail holes so they don't have to return any deposit. Charging for a nail hole the size of a pencil tip is predatory and petty. The door to the building is supposed to be a security one but they're always being propped open because people have no consideration of anyone else. With these prices, why is no one cleaning the hallway?!I'm in property management myself and they should be ashamed. Stressful!!!! Don't say you weren't warned! This would have never gone on to this extent if Amari and Tasha were still there. And, when I informed them that I would not live like this, instead of handling the issue, they tried to bully me with a $2100 break lease policy. With them, it's either live with the roaches or pay us $2100. You know the unit downstairs is infested as I saw one on the balcony. This is coming from someone who is in Asset Management! Btw, I sent the property pictures on 9/17 and no response.

Yelp
I'm a Current Resident. Don't the cheap cosmetic upgrades fool you. The Masters are a ghetto ran apartment complex. Your vehicles are not safe here. High catalytic converter theft and break-ins, occur frequently here. Office staff and maintenance has a high turnover. I hate to judge people by the cover but damn, Master's maintenance staff look like they have a prison to work program with state of Indiana incarceration team. Drug dealing and drug use is a high problem here, the office is aware of it but nothing is done. They got rid of their security program, it was a joke. Do your homework before moving here. Call IMPD and get information on the number of police You don't get the amenities they advise for. The pool is close more than it's open, the work out facility has been under construction for over a year, it's small. You can have 10 home built before they finish building the unit. Call IMPD , request the number of calls and the reason for the runs. DON'T MOVE HERE!!!

Yelp
I made the unfortunate chose to live at The Masters Apartments for 13 months. I moved to Indinapolis from another town over an hour away, so I pretty much just went by reviews I saw online at the time and the place looked decent and seemed to be in a good neighborhood. The last straw for me was when there was a murder in the complex and when I asked what the complex was going to do to maintain a safe environment the complex manager told me that "violence happens everywhere". I informed her that I planned on moving the day my lease was up(because it's to expensive to break a lease). Told her I was going to be moving to Fishers because is a safe place to live and she asked me if I watched the news because fishers is no safer. I am a very informed individual usually and now that I've lived in Indy I realize I should have went to fishers or noblesville in the 1st place. That was just one of many issues I've had here. From my upstairs neighbors fighting and after telling the complex a few days of fighting and glass shattering later I called the police because it was getting out of hand (I believe they were kicked out by mgmt...not sure though, the fights and noise have stopped). The police are constantly in the complex(the next building over). Another issue was more of a maintence thing, the water heater had been neglected and broke late one night, around midnight, soaking my hallway, den, and bedroom. They never offered to help dry it, have the carpets cleaned or anything. Keeping in mind my apartment was "completely remodeled" right before i moved in. That's just the major issues I've had here other than the typical parking, insulation, and other minor issues. I pay over $800 a month for a one bedroom, at this point it's not worth it to me.

Yelp
I made the unfortunate choice to live at The Masters Apartments for 13 months. I moved from a house to an apartment so I could be closer to work and I thought being in an apartment would be a lot less stress than trying to maintain a home. I knew someone that lives there and it looks like a good area & nice neighborhood. Once you sign the contract you're dealing with a whole other version of office staff. They are rude & snotty most of the time when you try to talk to them about little things going on in the area like traffic, underage drinking and the drug deals going on at night in the parking lot. However, they only care if you pay your rent and that is about it. I was laid off in September 2015 but I had enough money to pay my rent until the end of January 2016. I tried to talk to them about breaking my lease because I was still unemployed, no unemployment & had exhausted my savings. I was honest and said I need to move because I can't pay the rent next month They just kept going on about the lease break fees and evicting me, etc. I said so you're going to force me to file bankruptcy and your still get nothing? I was told that they didn't care what I did or what my situation was and they are still going to sue me for the $3, 308.00 lease break fee (4 months' rent). So because they masters refuse to work out a payment plan that would allow me to make payments towards the lease break fee I am forced to file bankruptcy. What a joke, the drug dealers pay they rent with blood money while the masters sucks the life out of hard working everyday people who lost their job due to their employer going out of business!
