Wow, wow, wow. Absolutely brilliant evening here. I totally recommend that you give this a visit if you are in London. We spent the evening here and we had an absolutely fantastic time. Great food and unlimited red wine and ale. We had such a blast that we want to take friends and family next time. You are taken downstairs to what looks like old wine cellars, seated at long tables with other's and there are lots of performers to keep you entertaining throughout the evening. You can hire costumes to really get into the spirit of things. Such a wonderful experience and a great night out without breaking the bank. We will definitely return on our next visit to London. The staff were all very friendly and really in character with the whole medieval thing. Well done medieval banquet. We want more...

A rollicking fun Christmas program. We went for an afternoon lunch the week before Christmas. We enjoyed the caroling and acrobatic acts. It did get very loud. I brought my three children and they had fun too. The establishment kindly stepped in with pitchers of apple juice instead of the bottles of wine since we don't drink alcohol. We really enjoyed it.

Good service, decent food and superb entertainment. Fun to come in groups or with family especially kids, but we went as a couple and had a great time as well. If you come in a pair, they make you sit in a group which is great as everybody gets into a happy-friendly-zone here with the live music. You can rent a costume for £10 or buy a prop like a crown or jester hat, medieval goblet for £5. We loved the music, entertainment, and timings of food service planned very well. Absolutely fantastic show with live singing, contorting, balancing acts, fight acts, dressed up as king, queen, jesters and whatnot from the medieval. Decent 4-course British meal including soup, salad, main and dessert. I would suggest them to provide with a spoon. They tell you to drink it directly through bowl as there were no spoons. This is silly as at the same time they also provide you with the fork and knife to eat roast chicken. Just provide a spoon, will you? They could also work on welcoming the guest better. May be queue up! As they open the door, mass of people waiting to get in rush up to the door, very primitive way. May be it on purpose, but it is a bad idea when on the day when it is raining or temp is zero degree, and everybody would rush to get in.

This a place with super good ambience. Artists doing and dance and perform fight and dance with you, it is a great fun spot. Food ... Haha .. don't expect the money you paid will be for food. Not saying it is bad food but just don't expect too.muxh. Soup, bread, salad, chicken, dessert, draft beer, wine, juice for kids. Just average food but not bad taste. Enjoy the vibe is the ultimate and they did a good job providing that. The team was awesome🥰

Love this Medieval Banquet not for the food but for the concept. The performance showcased during our dinner was kinda fun. The dancing, singing, acrobatic show weren't bad at all. Their enggagement and interaction with audience were creating fun ambience. A very entertaining 2 hours dining. Dinner and the performance started at 6. so, we'd better come earlier. 15 minutes prior the latest. 30 minutes prior to dinner time is better. We can rent a medieval style costume during dinner. And as for the food, soup came first and we ate it without spoon. It's a green soup. You can dip bread onto it. Then, came salad to share. It has cheese, chicken, pork, beef, and vegetable on it. Chicken is the main course. Tastewise was kinda bland. The dessert was my favorite.

Feeling of something different? This is defenetly the place to go, with a interactive banquet in a medieval style, this place is gonna bring you back in the days. A perfect venue to enjoy with family or friends, with unlimited wine and beer on the table, and food coming between the performances. The staff is excellent and incredibly talented, with singing , acting and juggling they ll never make you bored. The menu is setted, but you can ask for vegetarian or vegan option. Defenetly a place to go and enjoy.

We went there for a staff Christmas party. For about £45 a head you got a great show throughout the evening including singing, dancing, sword fighting. Thus, they need to cut the cost somewhere which in this case is the food and drink. We all agreed that the wine (red and white) would have been better suited as salad dressings. Some people liked the soup and the salmon was standard. The chicken, however, was disgusted by some and totally fine for others (I personally didn't trust the gravy though). Veggies and potatoes were my personal highlight! Nevertheless, the vegetarians amongst us went hungry as they collectively rejected the meatless main course (some sort of carrot puree with gnocchi). My biggest disappointment was the dessert as I have a big sweet tooth. Unfortunately neither the mince pies nor the cake were worth the calories. We still had a fun evening and the fact that we could still buy nice drinks from the bar was a true life saver for some :) also loved the fact that we could dress up!

Yelp
I had no idea what it would be like inside this place. I have seen this place from the outside several times and looked like one of those London dungeons thing. Didn't realise that it was an actual banquet serving real food. So we went there for a little department specific Christmas party. And it was brilliant! Staff was in costumes and guests too have the choice of picking costumes and wearing them on top of their clothes. And it does get hilarious! What I loved the most was the live performance, they sang, danced, did some acrobatics, juggling, hoolahoop dance, a bit of rope dance, such talent! Now for the food. If you are a non vegetarian, you will love it here. The meat was lovely is what I have been told. But I am a vegan, so I didn't really have many options. The starter was a vegan soup! Tasted lovely and we all had giant bread rolls on our tables. So that went well. Then came the main course. Vegans and vegetarians got their stuff late. But that wasn't really an issue. Then there was salad with plum tomatoes, onions, croutons and leaves. The main was not something I understood, I think it was some kind of risotto. It tasted pretty good. However, as it came in later than other stuff, I got busy stuffing my mouth with roasted vegetables served earlier with the meat. To top it all off, in the end came the fruit salad. The non vegans had cheesecake! Throughout the dining experience the table was topped up with continuous supply of wine and ale. The rules of dining here are simple, if you need the waitress, shout witch! If you like a performance bang on the table! I forgot the third one. Kudos to the team behind this place! Makes it all look so easy!

Yelp
Quick disclaimer, this is long, the best advice is in the last paragraph In the US, we have places like Medieval Times and more local to us, the tournament of kings. We saw this place on a map and did a little investigating and booked before we flew to London. Their partnership with the London Pass team helped even more since we purchased a London Pass as well. Here are my thoughts... Booking - The Medieval Banquet website was pretty easy to use and insert the code needed to use our London Pass. I am glad we did not wait to get to London to book. Checking in - We got there about 30 minutes early, didn't really need to but just gave extra time for the tube during rush hour and such. So basically you gather around the door, there is no real order to a line to check in. Once your checked in, you walk downstairs by the bar and are taken to your seat. Theatre - The theatre is laid out as a long tube with caves off of the tube. The caves are where you sit with everyone assigned to your kingdom. This kind of gives you that feeling your eating in a dungeon (for lack of a better term) or in some secret underground facility back in the day. I thought it was pretty cool, but depending on where you are sat, it could be hard to see everything so be aware if you want to see the show, ask for front seating. Food - Food was pretty good, you get pea soup, cold cuts, main course was chicken (chicken was excellent) with potato's and you finish with pie. Again I thought the food was good no real complaints. Service - The service was really good. The waitstaff did well but please keep in mind they do tend to be part of the show so if you need more wine, beer or something else, you may have to wait. So in closing, why only did I leave the last star out? I think simply the venue makes it hard to see everything happening and you have to get up out of your table area which can be challenging if your table mates are staying put. I would see more of a banquet hall making sense, again thou the location does have a cool feel to it as well, just my 2 cents. I also think the venue makes it hard to check people in. Again just my opinion and would still recommend this place for a fun night out Okay I know this is long, but honestly what makes this experience is not only the staff, but your table and kingdom mates. If you get a good group like we did, you will have great fun. We ended up having some really lively and awesome folks in our kingdom/village and we all ended up continuing the party after the show and dancing for a while until closing. We may have not all spoke the same language but it honestly did not matter as we all had fun and this will be a great memory for all of us.

Yelp
Maybe not the best use of your money, but if you're reeeaaallly into the Medieval Times period, there are worse places to go. I'm sure. Seeing as I was here for the Halloween season, I can't speak for how it is throughout normal times of the year. And I don't know if the performers were just really into character or if they actually hate their jobs, but the atmosphere didn't feel overly friendly or welcoming until the booze really started flowing. The show started late and seeing as I was really hungry, it was rather hard to enjoy the pre-meal show until the food finally came out. The wine and ale came first; and while I wouldn't suggest drinking on an empty stomach... hey, at least that was free, and endless throughout the meal. I wasn't expecting musical theatre, but that's what we got a whole lot of, so if you're not a fan, be prepared to be annoyed. Some parts were great, though. I particularly enjoyed when everybody was able to get up and dance along with the performers in the spirit of olden times. At that point, everyone was enjoying themselves, audience and performer, alike. The food is 'Meh,' but what can you expect from a Medieval recreation meant to serve dozens of people all at once? And while, I'm not a fan of the modern-day music they were playing, I think throwing in Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' for the Halloween party was a nice touch. Honestly, though, I would say that if you can get tickets to this thing on discount somewhere, do so.

Yelp
It was our first time to London, and this was the last place we went while we were there. We couldn't of had been more pleased or entertained. What an amazing experience, coming to enjoy this spectacularly unique, down under the ground, for a night of bewildering entertainment. There were trapeze artists, there were opera singers, and there were costumes galore. Also, as well, The food, was positively superb, served for a whole table, medieval style! It was just astonishing and marvelous, just splendid. What a thrilling adventure. We would love to come again!! Also, I lost my eyeglasses while I was there, and I wanted to give a HUGE shout out to JANETH HERNANDEZ, who found them and shipped them to me, back in Germany!! Thank you so much Janeth!!!! Your card is on the way!! Thanks AGAIN! Dawn

Yelp
If you're looking for the most authentic medieval experience then look elsewhere. Yes the show has LEDs and the costumes use polyester and fake jewels! The king isn't even a real king! If you're a fussy eater that thinks you'll get a 5 star meal with a wench that is only serving you, go else where. The staff was very accommodating to our dietary needs as especially they are serving probably over 200/300 people at the same time. If you're looking for a fun evening full of tons of food, drink, lovely performances with a group of friends then I'd highly recommend it.

Yelp
It was a great adventure. Pea soup really warm with bread.. soup was really peppery I liked it. We were able to see the entire show from our table. Second plate was vegetables and meat, we got broiled chicken, which went well with the veggies and potatoes. Then we got dessert.. and honestly by then we got up to dance... the walk back to underground station was lovely. The Tower of London with all its splendor was a sight to be seen. It was cold for a Californian resident.. but my whole little body shrank with the coldness and I truly enjoy my time at this place. I love the last song that made us all get up and dance. Many Thanks.

Yelp
We had a fantastic night here (it is amaaazing for theatre/performances) but the food was pretty rubbish, and not even very medieval...so I guess it should average out at about three stars. The good bits: - So much drink! We didn't make the most of the all-you-can drink as we were all tipsy before we arrived...but the wine, ale and cheap bubbles flowed freely. - The singing, dancing and acrobatics were really fun to watch - The apple pie at the end of the meal was lovely - It was really fun. They encourage lots of drunken banging on the tables, and you're meant to shout "wench" whenever you want some more ale/wine. Bad bits: - If you love medieval history then you'll probably be a little disappointed as it's not authentic... at all. - They try to get more money out of you as you're meant to pay for costumes... - The starter was chunks of cheese, tomato and pate (with no bread...) we waited for ages to see if bread was coming, then attempted to spread pate on tomatoes or cheese(!) Only after we'd finished our weird concoctions of pate did the bread appear. Doh! - Also, there tomatoes and potatoes in Medieval London!? - The soup was okay, but not particularly well seasoned or tasty... - The main meal was chicken legs in a pot + veggies. It wasn't terrible, it just wasn't good. It's a shame about the food, there are so many really cool historical medieval recipes they could have tried... if the food was a bit better/more interesting, this place would be a 5 star touristy experience.

Yelp
A really fun evening! Don't go in expecting gourmet food, the food arriving at each table in cauldrons is part of the experience, also don't expect a show throughout the meal, this is experiential and you are in the court of king Henry the 8th watching the jesters, contortionists and jugglers while speaking with people at you table so bring someone you want the chat with and chat with the others at your table- I have been twice now and recommend it

Jessica H.

Yelp
I'm a sucker for anything that involves playing dress up and being in an atmosphere where you can let your hair down and the Medieval Banquet allows you to do just that. I've been here on two occasions - both times to celebrate birthdays - and neither time disappointed. Think Tudors meets the circus peppered with some Glee. As you're being served your typical medieval four-course meal (which, for me, was good, but not great tbh), your eyes are either drawn to the circus performers, sword duals, impromptu group dances with your wench (that's the lingo you're supposed to use for your waitress for the night!) or a realistic-looking Henry VIII belting out Greensleeves. In other words, they pull out all the stops to make sure you're fully immersed into the Middle Ages - minus the blood and guts, of course! FYI - to hire a costume from the rack it's an extra tenner per person. Also I would look out for the constant online deals for the banquet rather than pay the full amount otherwise you'll end up having to dig very deep into your pockets!

Yelp
We ate at Medieval Banquet on Wednesday, July 17th, 2013. Because we were there with a group, instead of as individual diners we were served large platters of food that was pre-selected. First we had salad, then fish and chips and lastly vanilla ice cream. We were served room temperature water, with an option to purchase alcohol or soft drinks. Although this place is touted as a costume-dining experience, we must have been there at a time when the staff were not changing into costumes and doing a show. So, several of our diners were left asking, "What was the point of us eating there?" The salad, fish & chips and vanilla ice cream were just average...not great, but not bad.

Hauke U.

Yelp
Wasn't really medieval-like, with all the LEDs. Plus the food was just really Bad. Everyone with a Deep frier could prepare the dish we had (fish'n'ships) and could propably do better

Yelp
This a very touristic event on a normal day so i would normally recommend to avoid it but they hold special nights over Christmas, Halloween etc. which i find is the best time to go if you want to have a great time! The Medieval Banquet is theatrical dinner experience which last a bit over 3 hours and of course you can stay afterwords and dance with the rest of the group until the crowd dies out. There is wide range of actors/knights, magicians, jesters, strongmen, contortionists, live musicians and singers to keep you entertained while you enjoy your dinner. The dinner itself is a generous 4 course medieval themed feast accompanied with unlimited house beer, wine & soft drinks. They also have a separate vegetarian 4 course menu. I believe this event is best enjoyed if you go with medium sized (3-4+) group of people but the price can be a bit off putting for most. The good news is they always have a special offer on their special nights (especially Halloween).

Jeni F.

Yelp
What a work do! I have to give it a low-ish review on behalf of the little girl on the table next to us who was moved to tears by the night itself, but it was such a ludicrous night it deserves 5* for a memorable work Christmas dinner! I know this is something aimed at tourists rather than your average Londoner, but I would actually recommend you only go if you want to laugh your head off about the evening for the next few years of your life. The food was forgettable, the service a bit slow, but at least the performances themselves were entertaining!

Sheila P.

Yelp
This is a real touristy thing to do, and since we were playing tourists, we went ahead and went to dinner here. To make things fun we rented medieval costumes when we arrived and put them on.. it most definitely made our experience fun! So what exactly is this Medival Banquet - well it is a a theatrical dinner experience! This is like over 3 hours of entertainment ( with actors dressed as knights, magicians, jesters, strongmen, contortionists etc). with a 4 course medieval themed feast and, in traditional medieval style, unlimited house beers and wines as well as soft drinks! There are also live Medieval musicians and singers. *Note: We had a vegetarian in our group and she had a fantastic time as they have a vegetarian 4 course menu too. So the seating style is large banquet tables which you share with fellow guests. They bring out the foods, yummy chicken, pate, breads, cured meats, soup, vegetables and dessert -og those strawberries were a delectable delight! When our beer jugs were enpty we would shout"wench" and they would come and refill them :) To really enjoy this expeience we would say, rent the costumes, relax, and join in the fun - singing and dancing included and I bet you'd have a jolly good time! The staff are polite, the acts are fun, the food is flavorful - would we do it again? - ABSOLUTELY!

Sue K.

Yelp
Ok so if you are a visiting tourist with a young family to keep entertained for a few hours in the evening reasonably priced including some not so bad food this is place for you. Went to visit the Tower of London just next door to get us in the mood. The food was adequate and piping hot and the highlight was the apple pie and cream served at the end. The staff/entertainment were wonderful and enthusiastic. A very lovely evening enjoyed.

Sean O.

Yelp
The banquet restaurant is located at St. Katherine Docks across the street from the Tower of London, and a little ways from Tower Bridge. With all the Michelin fine dining restaurants London has, it's nice to find a hole-in-the-wall place to enjoy some good entertainment and food, and this is the place to find it. Follow the link below to Wine, Dine, and Play where you can read the full review article I wrote plus 400+ other restaurants from five continents of dining. I hope this review was helpful to you. You can read the full and updated review at the Wine Dine and Play blog.

Yelp
Went there for a company holiday event. It was a total tourist trap, but it has large capacity, so for a last minute big group dinner, it can be an option. It just so happened that I sat next a history buff and he was pointing out that there was really nothing about this place was Mediaeval. First of the all, the venue was what he believed to be a warehouse which was build during Victorian Era rather than Mediaeval time. Then the main characters in the dinner show were actually wearing outfits from the Tudor period. I was utterly amused when he said that they shouldn't be serving potatoes, because they were not brought to Europe until 16th century, after the discovery of the New World. However, most of the visitors here seemed to be entertained. Hey, it was people in old-time costumes singing, dancing, and doing acrobatic stuff, that was good enough. And it helped that you can have unlimited cheap wine and beer at the table. You certainly don't come here for food, which was horrible! That, I believe, was their attempt to keep with the theme with Medieval time when people hadn't discovered how to make food flavorful. The so called 5 course meal consisted of parsnip soup, salmon wrapped fish mousse, chicken with roasted vegetables, including potatoes, fruit pie and minced pie. I barely touched my food. Besides putting food on the table, another important job of the waitresses was to make your scream and shout and make noises. It was a rather exhausting dining experience that I wouldn't recommend.

Yelp
Have you ever thought going to a Medieval Banquet just to do something different and experience what life was like in that particular time? We went as a large group on a friend's birthday party and it was absolutely hilarious and exciting at the same time. The banquet is staged Tues-Saturdays and lasts for three and half hours, departing from St Katherine's dock at 7.45 pm and the dinner and entertainment begin at 20.15. The evening's entertainment includes a 4 course meal with unlimited wine and beer. You get to dine with HenryV111 and his Royal entourage, inclusive of fire-eaters,court jesters and ministrels to entertain you. The food is served by wenches, you can watch fighting knights and incredible feats of strengths . After the show is over you either go on to the dance floor or take a two minute stroll along Tower Bridge for a majestic view of London at night. Just to tempt you further the banquet is served by flickering torchlight in the vaulted cellars of Ivory House and I won't tell you what you get to eat because that would ruin the surprise.

Yelp
Went to the medieval banquet for a work Christmas party at £60 per head. Evening was lots of fun due to the people that went enjoying themselves and having a laugh. The serving "wenches" were great and really provided a good service, the entertainment was somewhat lacking with a few jugglers, mock fighting and dancing girls. It was freezing outside (-2 degrees) making the venue cold at the back of the seating areas and you could really feel your legs getting cold sitting there. The plates were absolutely freezing making the lukewarm food go cold as soon as it hit the plate. The food was atrocious, the soup starter was totally bland with only the bread making up for it. The fish starter was lukewarm and tasteless. The lemon sorbet was next to clear your palate, although having eaten very little I wasn't sure what the value was! Followed by bland, lukewarm breast of duck and vegetables that had been boiled to death. Finishing off with an edible cheesecake. The highlight of the meal would have to be the lemon sorbet, now what does that say! In summary, if you are going with a fun lively crowd you will have a great time! If you hate the people you are going with ;-) or are going thinking it will be a culinary delight then stay at home!

Yelp
I must say I can't believe I hadn't visited this place before! For £50 (or less if you find a groupon offer) you get to enjoy a 4 course meal, soup, an entrée, a main (ours was chicken) and dessert (Apple pie). During dinner you will have unlimited beer and wine at your table, just call for the wench if you run out, and there is also a selection of drinks at the bar. The atmosphere of the place is amazing! The decor is medieval inspired, designed to make you feel like you're in king Henry's court. The king himself as well as several of his courtiers and entertainers are there singing, performing tricks and acrobatics and the Knights are fighting for their honour. At a few points your wench will take people from the table to dance with her and will ask everyone to come dance in a circle as well. You are also able to take photos with all the actors and enjoy your night as if you were really back in the Middle Ages. In case you want to dress up, costume rental is available as well as smaller accessories like crown and fool hats. There are also vegetarian and halal option for the food you can also ask for when you book. I would completely recommend this place and I wish it was something I could go do more often. Go there and you won't regret it!

Yelp
I really didn't know what to expect from this place, when I was visiting London last summer. It provides large helpings of medieval style food (meat, wine, more meat), entertainment, and fun. Well worth the ticket price (around $40 on Expedia), I'd love to go again.

Qype User (tamsin…)

Yelp
If you're a somewhat deluded tourist then I'm sure you'll have a lovely time here having an English experience. Otherwise, not so much. How they manage to get such a queue outside is beyond me. This venue never appealed to me, but I went along for a work night out. The soup course really wasn't bad, minus the fact that we weren't provided with spoons and were expected to either drink the soup from the bowl, or scoop it out with bread. The second vegetarian course was decent mozzarella cheese and cherry tomatoes. There was an extremely strong garlic flavour, which was fine by me, but may be off putting for some people. The meat eaters had platters of cheese and cold meats to share. The third course was a massive let down. Various vegetables, and goats cheese, plus an apple (?), on a tostada base. Shame it was cold. I asked the other vegetarian in our group her opinion, and she said the same thing, her food was cooked, but cold. If this course had been hot it probably would have been quite interesting and tasty. At least the goat's cheese was pleasant. The dessert was nothing more than berries with clotted cream. Thankfully I like that sort of thing. But I can understand why that would be a disappointment for a lot of people. The Medieval Banquet trades on it's entertainment. Frankly, I failed to notice the entertainment, so it couldn't have been that great. Furthermore, they point out that you can get alcohol simply by calling your wench. (Derogatory much?) However, we called our wench and were told, Yeah, two minutes. Not quite the same thing. I was fortunate enough to have my meal paid for by my workplace, but otherwise it's around £50 a pop in here. Christ knows I wouldn't pay that in a million years for this. Having a boogie after the meal was fun, but otherwise I wouldn't recommend this dump, or it's food. I ended up having a couple of toasties when I got home.
