Our Readers' Favorite River Cruise Lines of 2023

"A small, intimate river vessel that sails Cambodia and Vietnam, offering temple touring and excursions focused on recent history; with fewer than 20 suites it emphasizes privacy and exclusivity while delivering luxury onboard amenities and gourmet dining as part of a high-end expedition experience." - Paul Brady Paul Brady Paul Brady is the news director at Travel + Leisure and the brand's expert on cruise travel. Enjoyed it. Food was decent enough and in ample supply. Staff were friendly and always coming round to supply a fresh beer as necessary. Would recommend!

Sunset, beer & BBQ on the Mekong – a must-do in Phnom Penh We did the Mekong Magic Cruise with the free-flow beer and BBQ buffet option and it was absolutely worth it! The boat was clean, well-set up with plenty of seating and great views from every angle. Watching the sunset over Phnom Penh while floating on the river was unforgettable. The staff were super friendly and kept the beers coming (Krud was cold and flowing!). The buffet had a nice mix of Khmer-style curry, grilled meat skewers, rice, salad, and fresh bread — simple but tasty and filling. It was chill, relaxed, and great value for the price. Perfect way to unwind after a day in the city. Would definitely recommend this cruise to anyone looking for something fun, scenic, and social without spending a fortune. Great vibes all around.

Took the sunset cruise with drinks and food. Had 3 cans of local beer and 2 plates worth of food. The food is average, but fine. We were definitely full afterwards and could have gone back for more if wanted. The staff were lovely and attentive.

They collected us from our hotel. Lovely cruise made even better by the sunset. Interesting to see the contrast in wealth between the sides of the river.

Nice activity if you want to spend a bit of time on the Mekong river while enjoying some food. The views on the city look good and the staff was friendly.

My experience with this cruise wasn’t entirely positive. The first impression with the provided tuk-tuk was nice, then meeting nice staff either. But after the cruise began, we joint by the more than one half of one side other boat and all the way flowing together. It was very annoying, because we couldn’t properly see the both sides of the Mekong river and instead looking for another boat… It really disrupted our experience. The views are beautiful bit also sad. It gives you so mixed feelings when you see the modern and rich skyscrapers on the right and fishermen villages on the other.

The boat journey is pretty cheap compared to the other boats here. The had pickup services so they picked me up from hotel in a tuk tuk. The boat departed 10 mins late. Food is very average, not worth the money. Runs out fast. Beer is cheap quality. Service is pretty good however. The staff were nice and helped people take photos and engaging with the people on board. The ride lasted exactly 1.5 hours. But the view is limited and the boat goes around at the same place. If youre visiting the city on a short trip, this can be skipped.
