The Merchant Baku

A wonderful experience from start to finish! I had an amazing stay at this charming boutique hotel. The location couldn’t have been better—just a one-minute walk from the Old City, which made exploring so convenient. The room was spacious and comfortable, with high ceilings and a touch of elegant style that really set the atmosphere. Breakfast was a delight, with a great selection at the buffet and the option to customize dishes to our liking—always a nice touch! But what truly made this stay special was the staff. Every single person we encountered was genuinely helpful and kind, which made us feel so welcome and taken care of. I can’t recommend this place enough—definitely a top choice for anyone visiting the area.

The Merchant Baku is the perfect boutique hotel. Modern amenities, immaculately clean, attentive staff and also beautifully decorated with local charm. The restaurant and bar were so pleasant and charming with great food and great service. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, they even offer you a large choice of pillows for the perfect sleep comfort. The location is perfect for walking in the old city and also close to many restaurants and cafes. We were impressed and had a great time in Baku. Thank you

Excellent hotel with a very helpful staff. The rooms are really nice and exceeded expectations. Clean and good sized. Location is ideal, right next to old town. Great bar with knowledgeable bartenders. Had several different cocktails during our stay. |Also, helpful tip, you can take roadies.

The property is beautiful and exceptionally clean. The staff is extremely polite and professional. The location is perfect, with easy access to everything I needed. It is located near the park and just right across the Caspian Sea and walking distance to the Maiden Tower, to Nizami Street , and to the funicular going up the Flame Towers. The breakfast options were delicious. Special thanks to Jafar and Fuad for their outstanding hospitality. You guys make me wanna come back to Baku again, which I will. Everyone is just nice. The customer service is top-notch. I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely book again when I return to Baku!

The Merchant Baku was incredible. The hotel is absolutely beautiful, and the service was just flawless — everyone was warm, helpful, and genuinely welcoming. Special shoutout to Jafar, Aykhan and Vagif at the front desk, who really went out of their way to make our stay great. Breakfast was rich and fresh every morning, and the hotel bar ended up being the best cocktail spot we found in the city. We loved everything about our stay and would come back in a heartbeat.

A wonderful hotel in the old part of the city. Friendly and welcoming staff, beautiful room. The bar and restaurant are great and we enjoyed cocktails and food. It was my husbands birthday and they made a special effort to make our stay even more lovely. We participated in a valentines event in the bar and restaurant and the food and service was excellent. The room was stocked with all we needed for a pleasant stay and it was perfectly located for all the sightseeing we wanted to do. Special mention to Nahid and Abbas and the all staff at the cocktail bar.

This is a lovely beautifully renovated hotel. ||The location is superb - just outside the old city (so everything within walking distance including the day tour starting points) and in the middle of the restaurant and shopping areas.||For me a real highlight was the breakfast - not only a fine mix of warm and cold dishes (indulging an omelette bar) in an arty atrium which doubles as a bar in the evenings. ||I made the false economy of booking a windowless room - don't follow my example (nice size nonetheless including a great shower). Wifi excellent, large room safe and minibar with functioning light but no cooling. Room temperature controls a bit complicated (another reason to have a window !) ||It's on a street where traffic was not generally allowed - nice and quiet but it does mean you have to walk 200 metres to or from your taxi. 50 manats to/from the airport (March 2025)

Right between the Old city and the oil boomers from th early 20th century, you couldnt have a better location (apart from the others in the same street). Beautiful interior design of the room. Good service, though the front desk is not always occupied. Spacious room. Usually we don't have dinnerin the hotel, but since this was iftar and the last day of novruz, all other restaurants were fully booked. We did'n't deplore it, the dinner was great.
