"For proof that the boutique-hotel revolution has conquered the world, you need look no further than this: a proper luxury boutique hotel in the Azerbaijani capital, the Merchant Baku makes its home in a stately 19th-century building that was once the headquarters of the Caspian Shipping Company, at the heart of the city’s historic district and just a couple of streets over from Baku Boulevard, the seaside promenade." - Tablet Hotels

I wish I could give them 6 stars for everything. The property is located right in the heart of Baku which makes it a perfect place to stay for tourists. We have Baku Boulevard just across the road which gives an amazing view of the Caspian sea coastline. Daniz Mall is 1 km away but its an amazing walk. On the other side of the street we have baku old city which is the best tourist destination. Then we have Nizami street which is the main walking street in Baku nearby. I assure you will be visiting all these 3 places Baku Boulevard, Old town and Nizami street multiple times. You will find cab pickups, tour pickups, and city tour buses within walking distance. Coming to the rooms, rooms are very well maintained and spacious. The bathroom is an art in itself. The balcony straghit away opens in the very lively walking street. Service - The staff here is so well trained and helpful. We stayed here for 5 night and I have never heard a "no" from them. They will do everything to make your stay memorable. Food- the serve an amazing brekfast spread that includes good vegetarian options, desserts, fruits , smoothies and overnight oats. There is absolutely no cons of this hotel. Whenever I am visiting baku again I won't look for any other option.

I had a wonderful stay at The Merchant Baku Hotel! The staff, especially Nahid (manager) and Mohammad, were incredibly kind and attentive, making the whole experience even more special. The decoration is cozy and stylish, creating such a welcoming atmosphere. The rooms were absolutely perfect — super clean, comfortable, and very well maintained. Another great point is the location: it’s well connected with the city, with nice bars just outside the hotel, yet still very quiet and peaceful at night. Highly recommend this hotel if you’re visiting Baku — truly a 5-star experience!

Loved the Merchant Baku! All the little details make this a very special stay. Location is great, and breakfast is amazing (as others have commented) - made even better by the attention of the manager, Nahid and the chef, Rasim.||My room on the 2nd floor looked over a back awning so didn't have a great view - but everything else was great. The set up for the F1 was already happening so access for taxis was a little tricky, but I loved the close proximity to the old town and the other sites.||Would love to stay here again!

We stayed there for 3 days and had a very pleasant stay. Great location and everything is near, and very antique hotel. Service is amazing and the staff are very helpful especially (Jafar) from the reception, he was very tactful and treated us very nicely. The street in front of the hotel is closed so we had to walk for around 3 minute but the staff helped with the luggage. Cleanness was ok 4/5, and the breakfast was good also but not varied. Overall a very good hotel to stay in.

A wonderful experience from start to finish! I had an amazing stay at this charming boutique hotel. The location couldn’t have been better—just a one-minute walk from the Old City, which made exploring so convenient. The room was spacious and comfortable, with high ceilings and a touch of elegant style that really set the atmosphere. Breakfast was a delight, with a great selection at the buffet and the option to customize dishes to our liking—always a nice touch! But what truly made this stay special was the staff. Every single person we encountered was genuinely helpful and kind, which made us feel so welcome and taken care of. I can’t recommend this place enough—definitely a top choice for anyone visiting the area.

Nice hotel with good design, but not spectacular and not worth over $200 per night. Rooms are small, gym is very basic, and vanity kits are not replenished daily. Location is difficult during Formula 1 — we had to walk over 400 meters with luggage and no staff help. Service is average and staff speak limited English. Good value at $150/night, but huge overpriced and not recommended for F1 mostly if you need quick access to Paddock or grandstand is far away from there (40 min walk 1.5 hrs taxi)

The Merchant Baku is the perfect boutique hotel. Modern amenities, immaculately clean, attentive staff and also beautifully decorated with local charm. The restaurant and bar were so pleasant and charming with great food and great service. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, they even offer you a large choice of pillows for the perfect sleep comfort. The location is perfect for walking in the old city and also close to many restaurants and cafes. We were impressed and had a great time in Baku. Thank you
