We went to see Sixteen Candles...an 80's tribute band They are amazing The ball room drink service was great. Its clean Restrooms near by We got tickets with seating, other wise its standing room only. Drinks are pricey. Place was sold out. The temps were average. We had jackets on. We would go again. Stayed at embassy suites and took uber. But its with in walking distance for those with good knees.

I absolutely love this venue. There truly "not a bad seat in the house". Plus I enjoy the aesthetic of it inside and out.

Google
The event staff were helpful and nice. The event venue itself, inside is a little underwhelming. Upstairs has many nuce couches and theater seating right in front of the stage. Drinks were expensive. Bathrooms on both floors were convenient.

This was my first time attending this venue. I had a great time at r&B live I liked how the VIP section had couches and movie theaters style seating as well as a covered patio for smoking and socialization

Google
We were there on the night of Hurricane Helene, and the staff was still super friendly and helpful despite the crappy weather. Sound was fantastic. I think having the right combination of great venue and great artists brings out a great crowd, this rang true on our visit.

Google
What a wonderful venue! Was in town for Stephen Wilson Jr., which was amazing. Standing room on main level, with some seats available on second level that also include a couple of private areas for small groups. Good options from the bar, including mixed drinks and all the normal canned variety of beers and seltzers. Several hotel options and restaurants within easy walking distance were a bonus.

Google
All the bad reviews about staff here are correct. Ridiculously unprofessional and shady stuff going on when it comes to premium seating. We arrived 2 hours early to get a good view of the show and went upstairs. Staff informed us of general admission area versus VIP and ADA seating and told us that we could stand right behind ADA seating to get a good view. We waited there the entire time just for staff to nudge us out of the way and lead a group of probably 15 able bodied people into and crowding around ADA seating 5 minutes before the show started. These people proceeded to STAND in front of us and blocked our view. My girlfriend has a bad back from a surgery and is kind enough to save ADA seats for someone who really needed them. Turns out after some conversations, this group is friends with the staff members upstairs and were bragging about how they had been given ADA seating by “Tiffany”. I reported the event to several staff members but they were all in on it and even admitted that they were their friends and they had “opened ADA seating up to general admission”. Would never go to this place again due to the shady business going on here. Staff also told us at the beginning that ADA seating would not open to general admission. Also expect drink prices to be through the roof.

Google
This is actually a nice little place. Sound was really good for the concert. Floor area is tight and you get packed in. If you don't like being packed in next to peple get a ticket for the upstairs. There is limited seating and view is good.

Yelp
I love seeing shows at Mercury Ballroom. The location is always clean, staff is attentive and friendly, and the bar line is never too long. It's easy to get to the restroom facilities and the show always feels intimate. Lots of parking availability nearby too.

Yelp
The Good: I really like Mercury Ballroom as a concert space. There's ample standing room on the ground floor, and a decent amount of seating on the balcony. There's a full bar on the lower level and smaller one on the upper level. There's also a nice, spacious patio on the upper level that I'm sure works great for private events. There's a parking garage nearby and of course, street parking if you can find a spot during an event. Adequate number of restrooms on each floor, and they were clean when I used them. The Bad: At a recent event, I noticed a pattern emerging with concessions at these Downtown events: a tiny box of popcorn for $8 with unlimited refills. Overpriced. Just sell it for $3 or $4 per box, already. It's prepackaged and not even hot or buttery unlike at the cinema, so come on. So that's my complaint. Same situation at the Palace Theatre. Here at Mercury Ballroom, the drinks were also way overpriced. I ordered the Mango something-or-other, which is mixed with bourbon, ginger, etc. It was served up in a clear plastic cup with a straw. Not very big. It tasted like overly sweetened lemonade and was also pre-mixed. I tasted no bourbon or ginger. This, to the tune of $15. Was it Ripoff Week and I didn't get the memo? Either lower these outrageous prices or freshly prepare the snacks and drinks, please. I like to watch my bartender adding a full shot to a mixed drink. The Ugly: It was quite the hassle getting my ticket at Will Call. It took forever even though I presented my ID immediately and the window clerk looked at the screen and confirmed my name. I'm not sure if that was a Live Nation issue or a window clerk issue but the ticket wasn't pulling up on my phone as the clerk suggested it should, and she eventually had to text me a link. The Pretty: The place is quite pretty, both inside and out. See the Hendrix wall hanging as an example. Lovely painted ground outside, nice general decor. 3.75 stars

Yelp
Decent spot for a live show. The staff were all friendly and on top of things (including clean bathrooms). And I loved the decor! The acoustics were pretty good but not amazing. The layout is a bit awkward as the venue is skinny so it's harder to get close to the stage.

Taylor S.

Yelp
I saw Todrick Hall here this past week (October 2023). Great show. I have low vision in the dark, so I emailed ahead of time and asked about accommodations. They gave me several great options, and were very responsive quickly. I showed up at the venue and there was an employee there to help me in the ADA section of the floor area, on the left of the stage. I got an amazing view of the show, and was told anytime I needed help, to ask the employee who was stationed there. She was so nice, available at all times. I also have sensory issues, and the music was pretty loud, but not overwhelmingly so. I came prepared with my Loop earplugs and only needed to put them in a couple times. Water at the bar is only available in a $5 can, so be prepared for that, I guess. Bathrooms were clean. Check-in was easy and security was tight, which made me feel safe. Thanks, Mercury Ballroom!

Betsy S.

Yelp
The worst place I've ever been to, I could have excused the fact that I paid $90 for a ticket but NO SEAT... even though there was nothing on the website informing me this didn't include a seat. However one person on staff was so very rude I can't get past that. Plus the fact that a beer was $17.00!! Unbelievable!! That is just robbery!! I felt awful for the older people that had a hard time getting around (using canes, etc) as I'm sure they had no idea it was STANDING room only.

Dave S.

Yelp
Led Zeppelin II was the live entertainment drawing the crowd. The band was good playin all of the non-cliche Zep tunes. The venue is always packed on the floor as any rock concert should be. They do offer some upgrades to your admission in the form of special seating areas, ropes off upper level areas with quick access to the bar. However this night, my friend who accompanied us tried to secure an upgraded area but was denied saying that they were sold out when we clearly saw availability in both areas. We were very disappointed with the staff on this point. If you go to a show there be sure to pregame as their drinks were pricy. A round of drinks (4 lemon drops, 2 we'll bourbons, and 2 white claws) $120 Again that's 1 drink and one shot for the four of us, $120. I will still go there to see bands but not changing my 3 stars.

Yelp
Mercury ballroom is a classic Louisville staple located in the heart of downtown Louisville. It has been known to host many concerts and events. I finally attended an event with a buddy here in 2018. We went to see a under appreciated artist named drake white and we had a great time. The Mercury ballroom is very tiny and they do cramp a lot of people in there but it does add to that personalized feel you get when attending a concert. Your tickets are not tied to a seat so you get in there and you find a spot you aew comfortable with or just a spot you can get to and enjoy your show. My buddy and I for our concert www able to maneuver rally close to the stage and by the bathroom door so it was pretty nice. They do have a fulls service bar that is a bit pricey. It it is expected for a concert. Overall I loved the atmosphere. Made you feel Like a big part of the show. I'll absolutely find a show or concert to come back one day hopefully in the near future. Fun times for sure.

Yelp
Title: Mixed Feelings About Mercury Ballroom I have to say I appreciate the caliber of talent that the Mercury Ballroom in Louisville brings in, especially some of the cover bands that have performed. They really do a commendable job at curating a fantastic lineup. However, the venue itself leaves much to be desired. The main sticking point is their bar pricing; $12 for a beer seems exorbitant. For a place that champions the arts and the local scene, affordable drinks should be a no-brainer. Adding salt to the wound, they operate on a cashless system, accepting only credit or debit cards. While I understand the move to digital payments, not providing an option for cash payments does exclude a certain portion of patrons. On top of that, the venue does not provide receipts which can be inconvenient for those who want to track their expenses or need them for business purposes. This practice feels less than transparent. While the performances might be worth it for some, be prepared for a hit to your wallet and limited payment options. Until changes are made, my visits to the Mercury Ballroom will be sparing.

Yelp
Views suck in this venue. If you are not on the sides (packed AF) or center and behind the sound booth, good luck to yah! Bs

Yelp
Upgrading to the "VIP Tickets" or whatever they're called was life-changing. We were seated upstairs, had bar service, great seats, and didn't have to fight everyone for standing space downstairs. The venue was small and intimate and we had such a great time. Staff was friendly, drinks were good, and music was great.

Stephanie D.

Yelp
This might have been the only major event space in town I had not previously visited. That all changed last night for the Postmodern Jukebox concert. It was an absolutely amazing show in a nice space. It is well decorated, clean space with good temperature control and staff. It started while we were waiting in line outside. The staff started checking ID before the line started moving. They also were checking to see if anyone wanted upgraded seating. We did. We needed two ADA seats with another non ADA seat close by. The upstairs ADA seating was much more comfortable than the bench seats available downstairs (and free!). My husband sat in a regular theater seat directly in front of us which cost $25 more dollars than the standing room only general admission tickets. That's not the best price but also not outrageous. What was outrageous were the two canned drinks we ordered (a large Corona for him and a new smaller, canned, Bacardi Rum Punch I ordered) that cost just over $25 plus tip. I only ordered the Bacardi because it was new to me and I thought it'd be less expensive than a mixed drink. I guess I was wrong. He got the large Corona because it was the only size they had. You can order fancy drinks at expensive restaurants for less than that. Other than the drink prices, it was a nice night out for us and a friend.

Skyler E.

Yelp
First time being at this venue. Personal friends with the performer and the band. We were hanging out in the green room while they were getting ready for the main show. When it was time to go on stage, we followed and went upstairs where VIP is. We had NOWHERE to watch the show. I was told that we needed to go downstairs, where there were hundreds of people and nowhere to stand. I got very upset and started crying because I had missed the performance. So since we are friends and family, we didn't get a spot to watch them perform because we were downstairs with them during the opening. There should be a section for friends and family of the performers, so this never happens again. I will never return to this venue.

Yelp
I would like to show my utmost appreciation for the entire staff that assisted me when my wife had a heat exhaustion episode while in the front row at the concert on 11/14/23. They had to have noticed right away as I was making my way out of the crowd because the very second I got my wife into a clearing by the bar, several staff members sprung into action. From the security staff, to the bar staff they immediately got a chair, water, and a cold towel to comfort my wife. She felt better in a matter of minutes. Not only that, but several staff members continued to check on her throughout the remainder of the concert. They should be commended for their quick response and total caring. There ARE good people in this world! Thank you Mercury Ballroom.

Ms D.

Yelp
Make sure you know why you're getting into when you go to this venue. Very small theater with NO downstairs seating and crappy upstairs seating. It's like being in a mini-mosh pit. Ugh. Really detracts from the experience.

Julianna Z.

Yelp
Dope venue. Rude employees. Maybe it's just a live nation thing but so many of them were complete assholes for no reason. Someone working there grabbed my boyfriend and screamed in his face and threatened to kick him out just for asking about something that was going on, not being disrespectful at all. Hard pass next time there's an artist I like performing here, i'd rather go out of town.

Carrie W.

Yelp
Love love love this venue. The open space to stand reminds me of the good ol days of Louisville gardens. It's a small yet personable venue. You can come with just one or 2 friends or a whole group. You will have a great time listening to songs from tribute bands that really know how to make you forget that you're not at that once loved original singer or band concert. There is a bar as you first enter that you can get a very large can of beer or if you would like a cocktail or even if you are the DD for the night you can order water or a soda. There is a balcony above that you can pay a little extra and have seats vs stand and watch from above if that is what you prefer. Overall I will most definitely come back if the Mercury Ballroom!

Mike M.

Yelp
Awesome place to see live music!! Gen pop is mostly kept on the first floor, though there is some railing space and couch / two tops upstairs where you can see the show (but should get there early if a good railing spot is what you're lookin for.). VIP is upstairs, and there are a few different upgrade levels you can purchase day of show if you don't decide ahead of time. Anywhere from just theatre seating all the way up to VIP room access (w private (cash/card, not Open) bar. Food is typically not available, but their bartenders are fast and friendly and typically work any lines down very quickly. Acoustics are good for a venue this size (capacity around 700 ppl), sometimes a little loud if it's a metal show. They have some amazing cover bands that show up there, so be sure to check them out. Location is a short walking distance to several other downtown hot spots (4th st live, Seelbach, Brown Theatre) as well as some good local eateries on the same block (Marketplace, Sicilian, Encore, etc).

Jenny A.

Yelp
Show got moved here after we bought tix, otherwise we would not have gone to this venue. Drinks are outrageously overpriced. $11 for a PBR tall boy? No thanks.

Kathy L.

Yelp
I come here often. We came for the Selena tribute. The security is the best, they stay on top of their game. Knowing they are keeping the venue safe is great. We can always enjoy the shows. The venue always starts off clean and temperature stays decent. The only part I notice is the sound it always off. It's never a solid quality sound. It's always either too much bass or drums and can barely hear the singers. But we always enjoy the acts and shows. Good times and great venue.

Lorie L.

Yelp
I've visited Mercury Ballroom a few times for concerts - primarily Sixteen Candles, the 80's cover band. For a primarily standing room only venue, this is the main one I don't mind visiting. There are a few seats upstairs, which is a great spot to grab in between sets, but I'm not a fan to stay there during the show if it's high energy. It's too hard to watch the other folks dancing around the stage! Bars are available on both levels. On busy nights you can spend some time in line and I've been known to buy 2 beers at once just to avoid the line again. Like other venues that pack people in shoulder to shoulder, it will affect the temperature. Even on chilly nights I wouldn't recommend bulking up your clothing. Plus dancing makes you hot! A VIP area is available. Bathrooms are a good size even for big crowds. The ticket window is accessed from the outside. At least 2-3 people are at the front door checking in guests, and when the show is over they will also come around to move the crowd out. Street parking can be found nearby but I am appreciative of the garage on the same street. You also have access to a few restaurants before and after the shows.

Dustin H.

Yelp
It's a nice intimate venue to see a show. Drink prices are relatively fair if a tad bit high but service is friendly. The acoustics are a bit better than average but still leave a bit to be desired but that could have been the particular show we saw. A decent location for this venue too as you can walk to grab food or a drink before or after the show fairly easily and you're a decent Uber ride away from a lot of decent lodging.

Sandra W.

Yelp
I know some people aren't a huge fan of Mercury because of its GA shows, but when they have shows there, it's very intimate and close up. Also the tickets aren't terribly expensive. The only thing is that they don't have seats and the drinks are really expensive. If you can get to the 2nd level, they do have limited stadium seatings. But overall, it's really a historic place to watch shows.

Scott M.

Yelp
This was my 1st trip to Mercury Ball Room, I was dreading 3 hours standing. But the concert was that good & could have done more. There isn't a bad seat in the house. I believe I would check into upper balcony next time. Stage sets high so your view is good. Beer is high so don't be shocked.

Bob A.

Yelp
I've been to the Mercury Ballroom several times and I've always enjoyed myself. General admission means you are going to stand, sway, dance (or lean) while watching the entertainment from the first floor. It is easy enough to get a good spot even if you go back and forth to the bar a time or two. VIP seating (extra charge) upstairs is definitely worth it if you don't want to be on your feet the whole time and you really want a great view of the show. VIP seating is on the second floor, and there is a server who will take your drink orders and bring them to you if you want. The quality of the shows is dependent on your tastes and expectations, but I had a lot of fun each time that I've gone though I do tend to go for the VIP seating to give my feet the break they need. Street parking (free in the evening) and downtown lots/garages are available. You will get wanded and/or searched. You can check your coat if you like. Keep in mind that whatever you bring in with you will be with you the entire time you're there unless you take advantage of the VIP seating or don't mind leaving your stuff on the floor somewhere.

Jeremy J.

Yelp
I've seen about 4 shows here and it's always good crowd good atmosphere on the inside nice good bathrooms go to upper level floor you can go to get the bottom level floor for the concerts and shows take place or reason why I'm not giving this at five just got the drink prices are ridiculously expensive they need to lower that down some for those lower class people that don't want to spend seven dollars on Can of PBR

Andrea E.

Yelp
What a cool venue! My husband and I loved it. It's intimate but also not too big. We saw the Prince Experience and the lighting and sound were great. The band even mentioned that they were late and the crew did an amazing job! I did check out drink prices and they seemed a little pricy. On our way out, they have us free tickets to their next event. I can't wait to go back!

Scott E.

Yelp
The Mercury Ballroom is in some ways a competitor to Headliners. The two venues are somewhat comparable in size and both are largely geared towards standing room only shows. The Mercury Ballroom for the most part focuses on more mainstream acts, while Headliners leans more toward independent artists. The Mercury Ballroom is a newer and nicer room. There's just no getting around it. But it also features higher ticket prices as it's a part of the Ticketmaster/Live Nation world. Parking in the area is generally more expensive and less convenient. But the Mercury Ballroom has booked a lot of excellent acts, particularly on the up-and-coming side. It's a very welcome addition to the Louisville music scene.

Jenifer M.

Yelp
Nice venue! Sound was great and atmosphere was fun. I'd do it again! Drink prices are crazy! 24$ for 2. That's a bit much if you ask me.

Kaitie H.

Yelp
I've seen 3 shows here now, I never splurge for the VIP, but I always have a great place to stand! It's definitely filling a need in the Lousiville music venue scene. It just seems more intimate than other venues and I've really enjoyed every show I've seen here. The tickets are usually not very expensive and it's GA so if it's someone I really care about, I just get there early to stand in line. They did have a "Fast Pass" type of ticket add-on for sale, which wasn't that expensive but kinda frustrating for those who get there early to stand in line. It's a bit smaller than Headliner's, I've also been closer to the back of the crowd with a decent view, so I don't think there's a bad spot in the place. The bathrooms are pretty clean, and usually not overcrowded. Drink prices are expensive, I expect this with alcohol, but it's always a little disappointing to pay something like 4 dollars for a bottle of water. I'll definitely keep an eye out for more shows here!

Kathy V.

Yelp
Very decent performance venue. As a short person, I am not a huge fan of GA shows, but when a good one comes through, one has to suck it up and pray to the Flying Spaghetti Monster that one isn't elbowed in the mouth or continually stepped on. I thought maybe from the upper level, I could scoot up to the railing and be able to see from up there, as well as allowing people behind me to see...but the railing and guard are set up so that even on my tip toes, I would just get an eyeful of wood planks. Plan dashed. So we set up near the sound booth...at first. But that is a popular cut across from either side so we ended up smooshing up front more. I got a great view of necks and the backs of heads...*sigh* Short Girl Problems. The opener, I'm not sure if they were properly sound checked....I couldn't understand a single word of any of their lyrics. The headliner was great and much better balanced, sound-wise (Local Natives). As my feet got tired and a tweaked knee decided it was time for a break, I figured I was outta luck, but there was plenty of space upstairs, and although the small area of stage-view seating was blocked off, there were several couches and stools near the upstairs bar (not including VIP areas). It is nice that there a several screens showing the performance. I didn't feel like I missed anything just because my leg felt like falling off. The biggest issue, as so many have said, is the drink prices. $4 for a soda. A Stella was $10. And months-out-of-season seasonal beer was on sale for $5. A kind I hate, but for half the price, yes please. And no cider. Three people ahead of me asked if they had any, so it seems like it might be popular enough to get? The illuminated menu to the left of the first floor bar lists price ranges for each kind of drink. No drink list. Just alcohol ranges between $5-$23! I ended up ordering at the VIP bar, as a staff member, when the drink line started to merge with the stage-facing crowd, announced that there was a bar upstairs with no wait! He took us upstairs, led us to the hidden bar, and told us "This is the VIP room, so once you get your drink you need to get out!" Ok....thanks, dude. As the night went on as well, I saw other people drinking things I hadn't even seen as an option...so there is not a standard selection between the bars, it seems. The bathrooms were decently clean. I like the musician art on the walls. The location is pretty great. And when the show was over, the place cleared out faster than I ever saw Headliners do. And even with the show at the Palace happening and probably ending around the same time, parking wasn't terrible and getting out of downtown was a breeze. I am sure I will be back again.

Teyana J.

Yelp
About what you'd expect from a small music venue. Intimate space, pretty good sound and the ever present suspiciously sticky floor lol. Stopped in recently to see a cover band perform with friends and had a great time. Drink prices were high, but the bartender seemed aware and was generous with shots. All in all a good experience

Sydney S.

Yelp
Great facility! I visit often for concerts. There's ample standing room only-immures s you pay for vip which is upstairs and has seats. The staff keeps walk way to the restrooms open which is great. The bathrooms are huge-another plus! The bar is always fully stocked so you can count on being able to always have your Favorite drink. I look forward to more diverse (black) entertainment to perform at the venue.

Emily H.

Yelp
Mercury Ballroom is trying, with all its might, to become a premiere music venue. And for this, I applaud them. They seem to be getting out there, promoting their shows, and pulling in acts that don't really fit at any of the other venues in town, carefully navigating what can be political waters among the other venues. They renovated a structure downtown, creating another attraction -- yay! The inside is spacious and general admission, meaning that it's up to you to get the spot you want -- nice! And at the same time, you can generally find a good vantage point, between the first floor and the balcony space -- woot! Both the first floor and balcony bars have been open when I've been there, and there is seating on the balcony, if you want to pay more for a seat -- always appreciated! Overall, the vibe is urban, somewhat intimate and with a side of posh -- nicely done! So why am I not giving Mercury Ballroom five stars? As mentioned in other reviews, the drinks are way overpriced. I paid $9 for a can of Guinness. I don't even pay that much for a snobby, craft beer. And when I've been at MB, there haven't been any craft beers -- much less Kentucky beers -- on tap. This place has so much going for it. And I suppose the ticket prices aren't too expensive, which helps make up for the drinks. I really hope MB flourishes in Louisville.

Amanda J.

Yelp
Mercury Ballroom has been a welcome addition to the Louisville music scene. For the most part, it is a standing room only venue, so if you buy tickets, be prepared for that. However, they bring in a variety of acts. I've personally seen Tori Kelly, The Mummies, and Boy Band Review here. Not only was each act different, but the crowds were too, as was the size. I'm sure if you wait outside you can get closer to the stage, but generally it's a pretty easy in process (Don't forget your ID!). There is a bar, and of course drinks are on the pricier side--as you would expect at a music venue. The music has sounded good to me every time I've been there, and I've always left happy. I would recommend checking out a show here for sure! Tip: You can sometimes score free tickets to different shows here; just keep your eyes open. (That sounds cryptic, but I've gotten them at various events in town, and even when I was leaving for random future shows.)

Rebecca M.

Yelp
This is a good place to see those middle-range bands. The venue is really small and the music will be loud from anywhere. The regular tickets are standing-room only. That I personally didn't like...I would rather have a set seat. Also, there's no stopping anyone from taking your spot. Because there is no limit on behavior or alcohol consumption, you may just end up being stuck by someone overly drunk/obnoxious/high. On the night I went, someone passed out before the show even began and there was a serious stench around us. With no assigned seating, I had trouble seeing the band as there were a group of taller people in front of me. You can buy a "Fast Pass" ticket which gets you in the door quicker but didn't seem like that good of a payoff....you will be in a little quicker but you are still standing guard and for that much longer. The VIP Lounge allows you to sit in the balcony area and near the bar. Seats aren't assigned but they do have places to sit. The view would still be good. As others have said, this place is KNOWN to have crazy high-priced drinks. It's not a classy or comfortable place but parking is easy--there is a garage right across the street. Lots of food options around, the sound quality was good, the show was great (but started really late!!!!). I would much rather go to the KY Center but this is a good option to see those lesser-known bands and still have a fun night.

Shelby Z.

Yelp
Mercury Ballroom happens to be another great music venue on the Fourth Street strip. It is right next to the Louisville Palace, but Mercury tends to have different kinds of performances to the point where I feel like this wouldn't hurt their business. I've been here for a Disney cover band performance, and loved it a whole lot more than I thought I would. They have all kinds of tribute shows, and even some bigger names like Machine Gun Kelly. The venue itself is small, but was enough space for the time that I came here. There is also a second floor VIP section, that has its own bar and seating. The first floor, however, does not have seating, but does have its own bar in the back as well. For the local feel that Mercury gives off, I'm a bit surprised to be paying a tourist price for a cocktail. But I guess being in such a tourist area can do that to a business. I always love getting to see what they have to offer next, and always look forward to being able to spend an evening at Mercury Ballroom!

Yelp
Went to burlesque here so chairs were placed on main floor. Sat in stadium seating in balcony which was great! Plenty of bars for drinks so no long waits. Weirdly admission was via paper spread sheets causing long delay to get in the door. AC was on point! Like the intimate feel here for sure

Yelp
Excellent live music venue in downtown Louisville. Been meaning to check out this live music venud, and finally popped in w/a free ticket to a Billy Joel/Elton John tribute show...out of respect for The Mercury Ballroom I'll not factor in the quality of that show to my review here [yikes]. Great audio, good acoustics. Excellent lighting. For the show I saw, there was an 'open' area in front of the band (no seating) and what appeared to be a second floor, seated & ticketed section ringing the arena accessible via stairs. It could have been 'first come first serve', but again our tix were free so [insert shrug emoji]. I'm 6'2 and had no problem seeing the stage from anywhere we stood, but my wife who is 5'3 had a hard time finding a 'window' to see the action. I'm sure that is regularly frustrating for the height-challenged at Mercury Ballroom. Bar/drinks: typical 'thieves prices' at events such as these, but nothing that made me not order a beer and/or mixed drink[s]. Long lines for service but adequately staffed and moved quickly. Bathrooms - decently clean and easy in/out for both the Mrs. and myself. Looking forward to seeing some more acts at Mercury Ballroom!

Yelp
Went here 9-2021 for a concert (Mammoth-Wolf VanHalen). Walked up to a line outside the place. The employees were all over it. Multiple people checking IDs giving out drink bands and checking vaccinations cards. Made it quick and simple to enter the building. Once inside everything was organized--drink and merchandise lines moved fast. A 900 person venue -- a FANTASTIC place to go see a band. Would come back!

Yelp
This was my first time coming to this establishment. I've seen previous reviews of great bands in this little arena. I watched a Led Zeppelin tribute band from the vip section and it was fantastic! Singer sounded/looked dead up like Robert plant. The rest of the band a was dressed to the occasion Drummer had the hair plus the headband. Bassist was able to play bass and keyboards. Guitarist even used the violin bow during the dazed and confused solo. All in all my first trip here was a great one!! Hope to see more bands here.

Yelp
Get there early to snag seats upstairs in the pews along the side.

Yelp
Nice looking venue and the sound is decent but a tall PBR can was $12 and the bathrooms were disgusting. Don't really have much more to say except I doubt I'll be back.

Yelp
A great, great venue for all music and events! The Mercury Ballroom is unique in its layout and presentation. It is a small intimate venue, with three levels of seating/service. First, there is the general admission first floor. Close to the stage and great bar service. GA is standing room only. Second, there is the second level, non-vip, which provides for great sound, a unique view, and great bar service. Third, there is the VIP Seating, which is on the second floor, has reserved seats and bar/bar stools, and personal drink service. My favorite, for both the view and the sound is the VIP Seating: simply fantastic. The second floor, VIP bar is also to be noted for its GREAT selection of unique bourbons that you will not find at similar venues. The MB plays host to up-and-coming bands, established bands that cannot quite fill a 2,000 seat theater, great tribute bands, and bands hat may be a little past their prime but still put on a hell of a show. If you see a band you like playing the MB, do not miss the show!!! My highest recommendations.

Yelp
I've been to this particular venue multiple times and I thought it was due for a review. First I'll list my complaints. Number one...the drink prices are way too high. Seriously. $5 for a 12oz can of PBR. $6 for a Bud Light bottle. $10 for a jagerbomb/vodkabomb. So two beers and two shots were $35 without tip. Those are Vegas prices. Holy Moly! Lol!!! My second complaint would be there was too much commotion going on during the opening act (who I was there to see) and at times all the talking made it difficult to enjoy one of my current favorite singers. That's always a pity. For the positives, all around the sounds is good quality, the staff are nice, the bottom floor standing area is big with a decent view of the stage no matter where you are. I have yet to go upstairs so I can't really comment much on that. I think the Mercury Ballroom has full potential to be better. Drink price consistency is one that needs to be worked on. Why are drinks cheaper for some shows than others? This would be a perfect example of something they should probably look into and change. With all this being said, I genuinely do like the venue and I know I'll be back to see more great shows. Considering this is one of the few medium sized venues in Louisville, I would definitely like to see them stick around!

Yelp
Went out to the Mercury Ballroom to see Hairbangers Ball tonight. The sound was great. The lights were fantastic and the crowd was Sulla super rad mix of young and old. The bar had their stuff together as it was busy but moved along good. The bar prices were typical. Their Miller LITE 24oz special was still $10.00. Jim Beam was $7.00 Looking forward to seeing some more shows their soon!

Yelp
I love live music and have been a huge fan of The Palace for years so it is nice to have another local venue to support live performances. The accoustics were great and I enjoyed watching from the balcony upstairs. My only complaint seems to be the complaint of the majority of reviewers- the drink prices. I ordered a BBC beer and a house wine and paid $22- not including tip. That's right- $22 for 2 drinks. Ouch! However, I was so entertained by the amazing music tickling my eardrums that I didn't feel the need to drink too much. I will return- I will just pre-drink next time. :)

Yelp
This would be a 5 star if the performer had shown up on time! We won tickets from Yelp (whooohooo for being Yelp Elite and getting a chance to win) to Booker T., which is a jazz/blues type performer. We showed up not knowing the doors didn't open until a half hour before the show, so we hung around outside. Luckily it was a nice evening. We went in, asked questions about how we can sit upstairs; since it was kind of an opening night type event they let us sit up there for no extra charge! BONUS! The show started an hour or more late---bummer--I had to get up early the next day for work and was really disappointed in the lack of hustle for starting on time. The drinks are over-priced, but I am sure that's how they make their money. They do have cider for you gluten free drinkers. No gluten free beer :( They keep the venue FRIGID! So unless you plan on dancing the night away and working up a sweat, layer up ladies. The bathrooms were clean and well-kept and the whole venue was clean. The first time we went they were still doing construction, at least that's what it looked like to us. The upstairs-the VIP lounge, has rooms that can be closed off to have your own private balcony view of the show, tables and chairs, couches, bathrooms and another bar. The back is all glass and looks over 4th street-great view, right? There are TV's throughout the venue and has little funny tidbits and survey answers from famous musicians. The 2nd show we went to was Yacht Rock Revue-WONDERFUL SHOW, I highly recommend seeing them. It was on a Sunday night and the place was not very busy. Jason has some back issues and wanted to sit upstairs-he made his way up there and they told him he would have to pay an extra $10.00 to sit in the balcony area, I was surprised to hear this since the place was pretty dead.

Yelp
A fantastic concert venue - completely modern, but with a bit of an old-school ballroom feel. Downstairs is fairly typical, but the upstairs layout is unique (in my experience, at least), with a wrap-around balcony (VIP section on one end) surrounding a small area of mezzanine-style seating. Acoustics are great, and neither concert I've been to has been overly loud - though It's hard to know how much to credit the venue for that.

Yelp
What a great twist on the usual music venue! It's an open concept layout with plenty of space to move about and view the concert from many angles, both upstairs and downstairs and both levels offer bars & restrooms. The downstair is one large open space with the band at one end and the main bar at the other. In line with the open concept, there are windows behind the bar, so you are actually able to see street action outside. This goes the opposite direction of most claustrophobic venues. The entire place also has ambient background lighting, so you can see as you walk around, without detracting from the concert's light show. Upstairs is a wrap-around balcony looking down on the stage. Opposite the stage is a small tiered seating area with some theater seating, backed by leather bar stool seating. Behind that is the main upstairs bar. But, as a musician who has performed live, I like to view a concert from above side stage whenever possible, and this place accommodates. The stage is flanked along both sides upstairs with railings and bar stool seating. Behind the bar stools on one side is a couch sitting area with end tables and coffee tables for drinks. As a bonus, there are large flat panel screens showing the concert while on, and sports center or whatever else is happening while in-between sets. Personally, I love this concept. I was able to catch up on what I missed that day while at work while talking on a comfy couch, enjoying a drink and waiting for the next act.
