Where to Stay in Bangkok (Updated 2025)

"I was surprised by the Metropole Bangkok’s five-star feel at a three-star price: rooms have luxury bedding and deep bathtubs, some include balconies, and the hotel offers a fitness room, a fair-sized outdoor pool, a sauna and even a cold onsen (Japanese bath)." - Matthew Kepnes

Overall, it’s fine for a short stay if you need to be in the area + if you're on budget but I’d rate it closer to 3 stars than 5 - just enough for sleep. The hotel interior and room have a classy vibe with dim lighting that I liked. Staff were friendly and service was nice, but the hotel itself feels poorly maintained. It’s quite outdated and you can see visible wear and tear in the room. There’s a washing machine which is very convenient if you’re staying more than a few days. A small kitchen with a hob is provided but there are no utensils so cooking isn’t really possible. The bathroom drainage was slow and seemed clogged. Coffee, tea, and pots were provided, but cups were missing on arrival and the saucer didn’t look properly cleaned. The room was basically clean but a bit dusty, and amenities are very minimal. It is better to bring your own or buy from the nearby 7-Eleven.

Great service from the night clerk Dee. Original room booked wasn’t as expected, was able to change to a suite. Was helpful, accomodating and welcoming despite a midnight check in. Informed hotel is going under renovations, and is a bit outdated. Serviced the purpose, good bedding and aircon. Be mindful there is a bit of noise, so be mindful if that’s an issue on lower floors. Close to river ferry for transport, take advantage of the short walk. I didn’t opt into breakfast.

Stayed in Metropole Bangkok hotel for 5 days 4 nights, first impression of the hotel was just a basic hotel by the road side. The room was dark, just like the hotel lobby with the rustic feel. Ambient was not bad if you're someone there to relax yourself for a holiday, as mentioned that the room was dark even with all the lights turned on, it's a little eye straining if you're working on laptop. Breakfast was decent but the hotel will have to work on the menu as i'm staying there for 5days and literally eating almost same breakfast everyday :) Overall experience was good, hotel was generally clean and cosy and the most important thing is it's just 200 metres from my customer site which is why i booked this hotel. Will stay in Metropole again if i'm going to the same customer site again.

Location is good for person who has car. not near train station. There're plenty of free parking spaceClean lobby and fast process checkin/out. clean room but a little bit old but acceptatble.Fitness, cold onsen, is located in another building that need to walk outside building. There's in room food service.Overall good. Hotel facilities is reach 5 stars standard, but not reach luxury 5 stars viewpoint.

Perfect Stay for a Birthday Celebration!I booked the largest suite to celebrate my birthday with friends, and it was a fantastic experience. The room was incredibly spacious, clean, and comfortable perfect for a special occasion. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The only minor issue was the limited parking, but the team went out of their way to help us find a spot, which we really appreciated.Overall, it was a memorable stay and I’d definitely come back again!

Really annoying location and hard to get anywhere, other reviews are pretty accurate it’s very poorly maintained, dated and not great service. The lobby looks great. But it seems like that’s where they stopped paying attention. Rooms have a kitchen and washer - but no pans, pots, detergent or utensils - rendering it quite useless. Small rooms, poorly maintained.

I live in Bangkok and would sometimes go on for staycations at hotels and this time around I would try Metropole for different experience since it's more of a condotel than a hotel.||The aesthetic looks quaint but definitely nice and tidy, but I did find some receipt paper from a previous guess underneath the sofa. The unit has a kitchen, bathrooms, and bedrooms with multiple TVs too.||Pool was not too big but still okay, and one thing you can't rely on here is the breakfast. They knly had some bakeries, scrambled egg, and miso soup. Not a lot of selections.||Location-wise, there's barely anything around but they do have a shuttle service every 30 minutes to bring you to nearby BTS. Overall the stay was fine and would definitely be back for more.

The hotel gives you really great classical Victorian vibes but Rooms are quite dated, perhaps not just in style but the finer details. Walls and floor joiners are old and cracking, this could do with some refurbishment or touch up. The floors are creaking. The toilets are also old but are reasonably clean. They provide a tiny bottle of shampoo and body soap. Toilet has the nice automated bidet which is probably the only thing modern of this place. Lighting in the room is dimly lit but the deluxe room we got came with a washing machine and an electric stove. As the location is at the tail end of thong lo don't expect amazing views. Isolation is also not the best as you're often greeted with noise from the neighbours and traffic from the highway. Beds are comfortable but squeak alot. Breakfast spread is not memorable ans you're better off exploring the streets of bkk in the morning. This place seems well known for the Lloyd's club behind where many of the young frequent on weekend nights. I guess the only request is to upkeep the rooms as well as they do the ambience in their picturesque lobby.
