Where to Stay in Bangkok (Updated 2025)

"I was surprised by the Metropole Bangkok’s five-star feel at a three-star price: rooms have luxury bedding and deep bathtubs, some include balconies, and the hotel offers a fitness room, a fair-sized outdoor pool, a sauna and even a cold onsen (Japanese bath)." - Matthew Kepnes

Loved my 5-night stay at The Metropole Bangkok! Prime spot on Sukhumvit Soi 43, right next to Thong Lor pier for quick canal boat rides to the river. Free shuttle bus to BTS Thonglor and Thonglor’s trendy eats/bars. You can easy walk across the bridge to Tonglor area. Modern rooms with plush beds, strong Wi-Fi. Breakfast is not buffet, so don’t recommend to purchase it, but kitchen’s BANK was very friendly staff nailed every request talking. Gym’s basic, and nights can be buzzy. Great value at ~4,500 THB/night,

Do not stay here! Other than the cool looking antique Mercedes outside, the nice looking lobby, and dessert plate & room decoration for our bday, there is NOTHING 5 star about this hotel! The walls are paper thin, you can hear everyone’s conversations in the hallway. It’s VERY outdated, and not cleaned well, drawers have peeling paint, all are dusty, one had a broken knob inside The shower floor looks dilapidated. But most of all, the cleaning service was awful! The bathroom toiletries were not replenished, and they didn’t replace the hand towels, or floor mats, they left the used ones on the ground. Bidet tip is moldy…do not use it! There were no face towels at all, when we inquired about them, they said the laundry service was delayed & they never received any with their shipment this week. Rooms are tiny, pushed 2 twin beds together and they kept sliding apart . Nothing is close walking distance and the location is not really in Thong Lor, closer to Petchaburi…so no easy access by public transit, and hard for taxis to get to as well. Not much around the hotel other than a 24hr weed shop, which also has very bare bones options. Please save your money and go stay at another property in sukhumvit or another area. I could’ve stayed at Le Meridian, Moxy, or Four Points for half the price. Beware of their 7 day cancellation policy! Which is why I am stuck here for 3 days.

This newly joined Marriott Group Tribute Hotel has lots to improved. I got upgraded to a Executive Room, which was great. But it came only with 2 bath towels. It has kettle and cups but no coffee tea sugar cream. No lotion and conditioner. The way the bath tub is designed, its impossible.not to wet the floor. Breakfast needs improvement. Its a semi buffet ala carte. So, cereals without milk. Toast with only margarine. Super market croissant in a bag. Yeh... Nothing exciting. Ordered a chicken toast but it kinda smells. The only great thing is the front service. They are really helpful and hospitable. Just found washing machine leaking.

My wife n I are extremely happy to have met Mr Tho. He is definitely an asset to your hotel. He not only understands n speaks English but he is also very attentive n pro active to our requests. The only setback to our Room 205 is the floor will get all wet because the water will flow out of the bath tub.

No idea 🤷🏻‍♀️ how this hotel becomes a part of Marriott system. Its not 5 stars, definitely far away. Please save your money and take it to somewhere else . The building as well as the facilities all come in the age like it’s from 30 years ago. They are trying to renovate partial time by time but not systematically. It’s definitely not worthy if you are on vacation and seeking for peace. The hotel located on a noisy street and next to a traffics river. The backyard where the „new“ swimming pool located is facing a damping garbage dump, so you literally can’t hold the breath. While you are at the pool, construction workers walk through the pool area all the time. Btw. the pool is so small and it’s only 1.2 meter deep, that it is more like a pond. Sauna and jacuzzi are defect, women change room shabby, dusty and dirty. Hotel staff knows it, they even didn’t put any towels in the bathroom, since no one is dare to use it. Btw. the 1st floor of the hotel turns into a techno club in the night so you will not get any sleep at all. Plus the noisy street/high way next to the window, you won’t get rest in the morning either. Very ironically they did open bed service and put a “good night card” : how about close the techno club at first? The only plus point is they do have a wash machine in the room, so you can do the laundry by yourself. The last : hold no expectation to the breakfast, there is nothing near to 3 stars hotel. I am glad we only stay 2 nights here.

First the positive. Excellent reception staff from Nong Fa. Staff all very pleasant and helpful. On the other hand, horrible location in the middle of 24 / 7 traffic. Totally untrained manager who makes excuses and thinks saying I'm sorry alleviates the issue. AMEX CREDIT CARD not accepted. Horrible breakfast waste of money. Tiny rooms. Tiny gym. Far from BTS. Not at all the Marriott Bonvoy standard. Big mistake staying there.

For sure not a 5-star hotel, 2 star at most. This is the first time in my life I didn't stay for the full hotel duration I paid for. Tried reclaiming some refund back through trip.com, but the hotel declined the request. So think twice if you plan to stay here. Service is okay. After check in, they gave me a used room! Immediately called and they gave me another room instead. The room itself is dirty and unmaintained for a 5 star hotel standard. Only 1 electric socket works out of 3, no utensils even though there is a kitchen, 1 of the bath robe is even torn. For the bathroom, the sink is not fixed in place and the toilet electronic is not powered on. The worst part is, as the hotel is located besides a busy road, you will constantly hear traffic noises all night long. Currently, the gym and pool is being renovated. They are kind enough to provide gym and pool at other location, incl. Transport. To a typical thai tourist, the hotel location is far from anywhere. I underestimate Bangkok's traffic.

I have a Japanese friend staying here. I came to visit her, picked up and dropped her off. In the evening there was this security guard who left a great impression on me and my friend. When I was moving my car slowly toward the lobby door...He was eager to take a look at my car's wheel....he didn't care if I am a hotel guest or not but his mission is to figured out what stuck on my wheel because he heard a noise as my car was passing by. It turned out to be a thick piece of broken glass bottle. He removed it and ensured the damage is not serious. His character just showed he is a "go extra mile" kind of person, caring, attentive and very responsive. He really cares about his job and I'd like the hotel to acknowledge what he did during his duty. His name is Noppadol. I wish him the best.
