The Metung Hotel

Absolutely beautiful place, the staff are so welcoming and helpful. It really picks up around Christmas/New Year so book a table if you're planning on dining, or get their at 11am so you can get some seating. Stunning views, the food was always spot-on, and a special mention to Sue and Letitcia for being amazing - their customer service is second to none! Highly recommended, even if you're just passing through - stop in here.

The bar staff are great. We ordered our lunch first at 12 noon. A tourist boat came in for a 1 hour stop. They are prioritised. Multiple tables were served first. Our food arrived 55 minutes later and were told it takes 45 minutes to cook a medium rare steak. Well over cooked

The crew out the back know what they're doing, from the accompanying sauces, to the chips and finally to the steaks they offer. These guys know steak and chips, you can't go wrong. It was an accidental find for me, I'm in town for work and after 12 hour days out in the elements, the closest pub was on the agenda, and what a find! Keep up the great work guys, we can tell there's love for your craft in the food.

The food is excellent and the portions generous. The view is outstanding. Unfortunately the service is poor, with no communication we nearly didn't get lunch because we weren't told there was no table service or that the kitchen closed at 2 p.m. Despite trying repeatedly to get the attention of staff, we were ignored for half an hour. Very poor.

We went to the bistro and should have gone to the pub for the meal. I did ask if we could sit in the pub they never said there was another menu just they would serve us the meals in the pub area. I had wanted the beef and Guinness pie but wasn't available. I had flathead fish tales but they were only warm maybe left standing waiting for hubbies parmy as his meal and chips were hot. It was full and quite noisy as nobody sitting outside as too cold. It would be a lovely spot to go on a sunny day. I would say stick to the pub menu which we didn't know about until we had ordered at the bistro

Great relaxed, yet sophisticated atmosphere. The food was amazing and the staff were friendly and helpful. I'm looking forward to going back. I ordered the seafood chowder, and my husband ordered the whole baked flounder. Both meals arrived promptly and were delicious. 😋

This city slicker learnt that smaller coastal towns operate on different time lines. But when I came back once the kitchen opened I wasn’t disappointed! The special Of an 800gm ribeye was the best decision I’ve made in days. Such a tender cut! Well cooked. If my only desire that wasn’t met was that it was coleslaw instead of a garden salad. My preference is always to have Spanish or red onion with steak. So that’s the only thing that was missing because of the coleslaw but the meat was perfectly cooked to Order.

There is one pub in town, so no competition and my expectations were low. I was pleasantly surprised. The menu is extensive and everything we ordered was fantastic. I couldn’t wait to eat the oysters, so no photo…. But they were GOOD!!!
