I came here for my brother's wedding and I wasn't disappointed. This is a historical hotel that sits at the heart of Middlebury, which makes for a great tourist attraction. The hotel is well situated, everything is nearby, including a great view of the waterfall. You can definitely feel that the hotel is old but to me it didn't take away from the experience, if anything, it added to it. The rooms were nice, spacious and clean. The staff was extremely friendly and provided a variety of services before, during and after the wedding, including serving alcohol and food. Overall I was very pleased with my stay here.

Three night stay for my family of 6 who were participating in a self-guided bike tour. The staff was pleasant and accommodating. The breakfasts first rate. Great location nearby to the college, restaurants and coffee shops. A charming New England Inn.

Spent 3 nights here with a bus tour. We had a suite room very comfortable. Dinner the first night was very good. Buffet breakfast each day, plenty to eat. Would definitely stay here again if in the area. They have been open for almost 200 years.

We had an absolutely wonderful weekend at the Middlebury Inn in Vermont! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel warmly welcomed. The historic charm of the almost 200 years old  hotel is beautifully preserved and blending with modern comfort. Our room was cozy, clean, and thoughtfully furnished, with lovely views of the town green. The attention to detail was exceptional. The location couldn’t be better. Right in the heart of Middlebury, we were just steps away from shops and restaurants. We’re already looking forward to our next visit, maybe to celebrate their 200 year anniversary in 2027. Highly recommend the Middlebury Inn for anyone looking to relax, recharge, and soak in Vermont charm! Cheers,

Google
We took a chance and we were so satisfied that we made another reservation during foliage season. Everything was not only excellent, but there was charm everywhere. Best of Show goes to the 1926 Otis Elevator! It needs the desk clerk to operate it, but you'll never see it's like in another hotel. It's in perfect condition and big and comfortable.

Google
The Middlebury Inn is nearly 200 years old and it still has that charm of an Old Inn - and a bit of quirkiness as well. I would recommend staying here as it is very conveniently located in MIddlebury and one can walk everywhere. The staff are lovely and the West Veranda is a great place to while away an evening.

Google
Was here for a work conference and the venue is lovely. I had a gorgeous room in the Porter Mansion (which I will ask for again). Perfect location right in the heart of a cute little college town. Very walkable and had a great large porch with rocking chairs. The place was clean, lovely and the staff was excellent! They let me check out an hour late and were extremely helpful.

This was another great visit( my fourth) with my friends of 50 years ago. We were having a reunion and thought immediately of staying at the Middlebury Inn since it was so famous and near the Middlebury College where we studied . It didn’t disappoint . We ate dinner there also and the food was very good . I can’t wait to come back again.

Yelp
So we were celebrating our anniversary and driving to Montreal, we needed one night in VT and chose here. We wished we were here longer, we may see if there's a room on the way back to break up our trip. The property itself is beautiful, very historic. The rooms are clean, also beautifully decorated. The staff- this is where my 5 stars come into play, so accommodating, pleasant. We arrived at 8pm on a Sunday, well the town is pretty much shut down, they recommended a fabulous dinner spot still open. Then around 1130 when I realized there is no coffeemaker or microwave so I can have tea before bed, I found myself at the desk and she was beyond accommodating, she got me some hot water from the kitchen.. seems simple and small but you saved me a very sleepless night. This place including the staff are top notch!!

Yelp
We had the most wonderful stay in this cozy and friendly Inn! The staff was beyond accommodating / able to provide anything needed for the room, and proactive to resolve any issues! The jazz happy hour was lovely and room was very spacious! Can't wait to visit again!

Yelp
I must complain. This has been the most ridiculous hotel experience. I will have to review on yelp. The room is two flights up and there is an elevator but no one offered for us when we checked in. So we and all guest walked up. Also we were not told that our phones were not working when we checked in. Apparently it's been that way for a while though. Thry still are not working. But you need them to request any services so....? There isn't actually glass glasses, water, or a coffee or coffee pot. Two plastic cups and an old reused water jug by the garbage near lobby. It's impossible to get fresh towels and room cleaned even if you request it. I guess you need a phone.?? The bathroom has military/school style toilets, again plastic glasses and miss matched shampoo and conditioner. This is a spa hotel? No. The room is dirty. Behind the bed ( I tried to plug in my phone) it is disgusting back there. The obvious carpets are filthy and the room is old and tired. Why am I spending the big money? The breakfast was ridiculously expensive and terrible. All in all. Bad. Why is this so expensive and so terrible? Someone must tell the truth. I was told by locals to stay away. For sure avoid. Best

Yelp
We enjoyed Easter Brunch at the Inn. It was a buffet with carving station- ham and prime rib. Plus there was chicken, and prawns on the buffet line, along with beautiful roasted vegetables, fruit, sweet potatoes, corn soup, and several salad options. Selection was plentiful. Food refilled frequently. Desserts were just okay. Chocolate cake was good. Carrot cake was dry and the mini cheesecakes didn't have much flavor. They had bar service with special drinks for the event, along with self serve coffee bar. Staff was very accommodating and I dining room was festive for a spring holiday.

Yelp
This is such a beautiful building. The staff was amazing. Unfortunately because it's an old historic building my son's asthma didn't let any of us sleep. Just something to consider if you are booking here. No fault of the hotel but perhaps air filters available for guests that would need it in the future would be helpful. My son very rarely uses an inhaler and he used it multiple times during our stay and hardly slept.

E. G.

Yelp
Worst pillows I have ever used in any accommodation. You go down to sleep and your head is down on the mattress with no support whatsoever. The shower and sink area had not been cleaned thoroughly and the shower did not drain too great either. The only plus is the location which is in the center of the town and so within minutes you are at your destination if you're here for an event or even at the grocery stores right next door.

Yelp
Old and tired. Lifeless. Drab. Expensive - not a value play. Skip this - not what you hope it would be... Misses.

Yelp
The Middlebury Inn has been part of my childhood. My family and I used to go up to the Inn every Thanksgiving when I was younger. I've been going up less and less, just because of logistics and finances (a room in the Porter Mansion is over $200 a night), but this past Thanksgiving I went back up with some of my family. I was so excited to bring my daughter to Middlebury, Vermont to experience our usual room in the Porter Mansion. It was just as I remembered it. The room I stay in is small and quaint, and the bathroom is tiny too, but it has so much charm to it. The room just makes me so happy. We arrived late on Wednesday night and were able to check in just fine because they have someone at the front desk 24/7. I called in advance and asked that the pack and play be set up for my daughter since she'd be sleeping when I arrived. Everything was set up in the room and it made arriving late so much easier. The bed was a tad bit uncomfortable for me (a bit hard) and they had the largest pillows on the bed, but I just used one of the couch pillows instead and it was fine. The breakfast buffet is always top notch at the Middlebury Inn. They have lots of options and keep the food coming. The Thanksgiving buffet was a bit sparse, but I understand. I just wish they had a few more vegetable options. My husband was a little annoyed that they 'fancied' up the stuffing with blue cheese and cranberries. He just wanted some old fashioned stuffing. In the end, I still had a really nice dinner. We had a handful of miscommunications when it came to paying our bill at the end of all the buffets. We paid in advance, but they charged us accidentally a few times. Everything was solved quickly though. The little town of Middlebury is adorable too. There are a handful of locally owned stores and everyone is so friendly. If you are looking for a quaint, relaxing vacation, Middlebury is the spot. I felt like I was able to get away and enjoy my Thanksgiving. Also, if you eat in the Inn, have their salad with their Maple Balsamic Vinaigrette. It is to die for!

Yelp
Sigh. We were so excited to love this beautiful old inn, but honestly- we were disappointed. Instead of in the Inn we were given a room in the 'annex' (we didn't know there was a difference) which, while technically newer- lacked all charm and our room smelled strange, like old sweat and dogs instead of clean. The AC filters were chock full of summer dirt- we cleaned them only to find that the shower would not drain. The co-op market gets deliveries at 6am and trash pickup at 7am- so much for sleeping in. Spiders abound and everything seems to need a serious deep clean and some new carpet. The staff are wonderfully friendly. No complaints there. The restaurant was closed during our stay, another disappointment. We are unlikely to make a return visit as we chose the Inn over several Airbnb options that were less expensive and cleaner.

Yelp
Everyone was really very nice. Hospitality-plus. We didn't expect to be in Middlebury, but we were on a 1,000 mile motorcycle tour and we had a mechanical surprise that landed us there overnight. The folks at the inn took us in, gave us a great room (a suite!) and told us about all the cool places to eat in town. We need to go back actually. It's a historic inn, it's cool, it's old, it's real. It's in excellent condition. The suite they put us in was very comfortable and quiet. The bed was really nice, the shower was so welcome and good after such an eventful day on the road. The sitting room or lobby is really nice with comfy, overstuffed chairs. My wife and I were able to hang out there and read while waiting for the motorcycle shop for finish the work. It's a great inn and we'll be back! Maybe fall?

Katie M.

Yelp
We just left there and we were sadly disappointed. We had reservations but when we arrived the table was not set, the water glasses they brought Were dirty, maybe dishwasher stains but not sure, had to ask for menus, when our order was taken it was almost an hour before we got our food. They were not that busy! Busboy was the best service we got! The hostess was rude, the waitress just did as little as possible. All of us felt disappointed And none of us will return. The food mediocre. Go somewhere else.

Yelp
Ok. This place is great. We took a trip to Connecticut from New Mexico with a side weekend trip to Vermont. Our friends have a dog so I included that info in our online booking. We drove up through Vermont and got to the Inn by nightfall. I go to check in and find out I booked the wrong month. I WAS mortified. But the check in lady fixed everything within minutes and then even reminded me to cancel my previous booking. She was great, so nice. The inn was great. Such a great experience. Thank you.

Yelp
Very disappointing, we checked in on a Friday night, and our 1st room (in the annex) has a overwhelming odor of FABREEZE, so bad we refused to stay in it. The staff was helpful and moved us 4 door down (still in the annex) and the FABREEZE odor was present, it was tolerable, however the carpet was SOPPING WET, so much so we had to keep our shoes on inside the room. In addition, the deadbolt lock didn't function and the shower didn't drain. We stayed 1 night in that room and we were able to move to the main building for the 2nd night. The hotel offered neither a refund, discount or any concession in consideration of this mess. And mind you this is at over $300/night. I will never stay in this DUMP again.

Yelp
Beautiful Victorian hotel, has kind of an odd-layout especially upstairs, but otherwise charming. For ameneties: hair dryer, desk with stationary, refrigerator, phone, air conditioning, wifi (with password), cable TV, iron/ironing board. What I did love, was the blackout curtains. They were lovely. Staff were very pleasant. Rooms were immaculate. I had woken up around 2 or 3 in the morning, so I went to the lobby to read. The clerk was watching something on his tablet. It was a little loud and distracting. But this person is working the graveyard shift and the poor should is just trying to stay awake, so I didn't want to complain. I'd be doing the same thing too, maybe with headphones though. The room we had was on the top floor. Water was hot for the shower, but otherwise had low pressure. Hey it's a Victorian, not going to knock it! I wish I had time to use the bath jetts, it would have been so nice. But we were only there for the night. What was great was the veranda overlooking the common, and this place is right in the downtown area. We were a 5-10 minute walk from most restaurants. I would love to come back. I wish we did breakfast, it sounds like it's really good.

M P.

Yelp
We stayed for several nights in a suite. The master room was very comfortable. The kids were on the foldout sofa. We had 1.5 bathrooms. The hotel is older so you hear lots of creaks and cracks, but honestly it's quite charming. They have an elevator but only assisted with an employee as it is an older model elevator. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. The coffee and tea are in the lobby. We had a lovely view of the town green. Be aware you can hear the clock hourly chime. This inn is so close to so many wonderful finds and restaurants. It is a short drive to the Middlebury college and golf course which was incredible!!

Yelp
First of all, don't advertise that you have a "gym" on hotels.com when what you really have is a pass to a fitness center two miles away that is open limited hours. That's false advertising. Second, the price of a room here is inflated for what you get. We stayed 4 nights in a room in the hotel annex, basically a motel separated from the main hotel by a parking lot (yay plenty of free parking). The room was bare bones. It was small, with only a bed and a couch but no desk. The walls were bare except for one small painting. The room appeared to be clean and the maid service was fine except that on day 2 we were not given soap or shampoo. You could have plopped the room down into any random Comfort Inn and it would not have been out of place. One good thing was that the A/C was super effective. The lobby of the main hotel seems ok although we didn't hang out there. They offer free tea and coffee in the morning and from 2-5 in the afternoon. Did not eat in the restaurant because its reviews online were just OK and there are many better choices in Middlebury.

Paul Y.

Yelp
This hotel lacks the grandeur, luxury, or heritage to command such high prices, even amongst the sub-population of enthusiasts who enjoy staying at historic hotels and inns. Don't get me wrong, it is fun and can be charming to stay in an early 19th century establishment, but the term "price gouging" comes to mind, capitalizing on parents being in town because of kids attending nearby Middlebury College. I observed several interactions between the desk staff and various patrons, the latter being generally treated as some sort of an imposition. Our overnight stay was about $270, and we were also asked to remove our own trash from the room. Hmmm, I'm not sure this adds up. I would consider driving 30 minutes if needed and saving a hundred bucks.

Mitch T.

Yelp
At first this looks like a quaint inn. You'll be greeted with a friendly smile and the check in process was quick. Then you look around the room to find trash under the bed and in our case, there was a small glass of an unidentifiable liquid and melted half eaten maple candies. No idea how long that's been sitting there and I wasn't about to touch it. The inn is old so there are a few things about old places you just have to deal with. The clanking heater pipes. It's cold so what are you going to complain about there - you just have to deal with that. The restaurant menu had us hungry! Everything sounded flavorful and interesting. However, that was also disappointment. We started with the Vermont poutine. Probably a bad choice on my part but I wanted to try it with authentic Vermont cheese. The fries and gravy were cold and set the stage for the rest of our disappointing meal. I had the roasted chicken and I couldn't taste or smell the rosemary and the asparagus was raw. By raw I mean not cooked and I like snap to my vegetables. My wife had the "southern" brisket. The best thing on her plate was the mac n cheese and kale. The brisket was tough like leather and as you'd expect, very dry and tasteless. Normally if the service is above average I would forgive some of the food issues but this was bad from the time we sat down. Service was slow and they'd forget to bring things to the table.

Yelp
Meh. Unfortunately, the Inn is tired and in need of some TLC. Likey, drive by cost, breakfast was buffet style only, nothing off the menu as one might believe looking at the menu online. It's was nothing, really, other than the usual hotel style offering. Carpets were worn, dated, felt like the movie The Shining. And while some may offer up that it's part of what makes the Inn charming, it's a veneer of financial woes...in my opinion. We've stayed there twice, the rooms were okay and yeah, quaint but that aside, it's a very expensive King bed.

Yelp
10 out of 10 in every category. Exceptional service and genuine hospitality. Charming location and grounds, pristine rooms. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Food was fresh and delicious. Cant wait to go back.

Silvio H.

Yelp
Interesting place from the outside and internet pictures but not that appealing up close. Hallways smell moldy --probably the rugs, it can look old but at least be clean and please smell good. Please-Do something about that lobby-restaurant -Lobby bar-steam table- menu valet-front desk and other lobby space of a black hole you have going on. Wow-what a mess of an unattractive space and it's a big space! I checked in June 8 around 6pm and desk clerk was quite rude- about everything. From the use of the elevator, the cart to get my bags -everything was a bother to her! She was rude to wife, my twin daughters and me. After I got keys I needed to ask a question and overheard clerk on the phone and realized she is rude to anyone it's not just me and my family. I bet when she's answering the phones sales go way down! Turn front desk into a bar better use of the space. Outdoor patio and deck both looked great but not set up- management might wanna make more money by opening it up but it doesn't look like they are paying attention. I stayed two days and the room was just ok. Not everyone was rude but not everyone is friendly either!

Yelp
At first we thought this was a little pricey but it was well worth it. Our room was big, easily sleeping the four of us. WiFi was easy and the inn part was charming. (We we're in the modern part.) We didn't buy the breakfast but I enjoyed the free coffee in the historic part.
google avatar

Kathleen K.

Yelp
The desk, the lobby, the breakfast section were all quite nice. Appreciated the extra nice breakfast options and the coffee was decent. The room itself was also clean, comfortable, well appointed. The temp control was working quietly and well. The location was very convenient, and I appreciated the associated full service restaurants just across the way for when I didn't have the oomph to take a drive at day's end. It was generally a quiet restful inn, although a couple of nights there was a rowdy group next door, which told me how little soundproofing there is. Nothing unusual in that. Annoyances: the key cards kept losing their mojo. Yeah, I know, they get demagnetized by phones. But how many don't carry their cell phones near their wallets? I go to lots of hotels, but have never accounted one where the key cards were so vulnerable. And what a nuisance to have to run back and forth to the front desk for a recharge so many times. Also the free WiFi advertised went out on me on two separate occasions (might be three?) during my 4 night stay, both at critical times when I really needed it for email correspondences. The desk noted that they'd needed downtime for some sort of something, but it was unacceptable. So: much good, but a few very annoying items.

Yelp
The Middlebury Inn is a beautiful old hotel listed on the Register of Historic Hotels. The Hotel is directly in the center of town and allows you to walk to almost anything you'd like. The Hotel itself is very well kept and the rooms are very clean. The staff appears to truly care about the hotel and are also very helpful. Overall I would stay here any day over a chain hotel in the area.
google avatar

Kristen B.

Yelp
I stayed here for 3 nights while on a business trip to Middlebury College. I got a free hotel upgrade (which they so cutely refer to as a "hug"). My room was large and roomy with a King size pillowtop bed. The bathroom was clean and the linens were nice. It did take the shower awhile to heat up, and I would have liked more water pressure, but with a hotel this old I'll take what I can get. Free wifi that was decently fast and the breakfast served in the hotel restaurant is pretty good (I recommend the french toast with strawberries!). Overall this place is very quaint, reasonably priced, and only a quick walk to Middlebury College.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I stayed here for a wedding weekend last week. We were in the old main part of the hotel and had a very nice, large room. It was so comfortable and is a beautiful inn. We also attended a casual welcome brunch at the inn on Friday and it was casual but very good. The hotel is tastefully decorated, certainly has an upscale feel in a casual way. It is a great location to walk to Middlebury's shops and restaurants and is across from a small park. The rates were a little high for rural Vermont, probably because we were there during prime summer time, at around $180/night with the AAA discount.
google avatar

Paul B.

Yelp
I've stayed here twice on my kids' college tours. The staff is friendly and the rooms are pretty comfortable for a building approaching 200 years old. However, the historic charm is diluted by a lobby done up like one you'd see in a mid-tier motel - e.g., a display rack with brochures for local tourist attractions.. I also deducted about 1/2 star for the pancakes served at breakfast, which by themselves were deserving of an interrogative-style review by Pete Wells - eg, "When you describe your pancakes as 'fluffy,' is that before you flatten them with a rolling pin?"

Yelp
Bus tour 4days/3 nights here. Very nice place, traditional Inn. Thanksgiving Dinner was fantastic. Handled 50 + bus folks plus local Traffic with no problem. Huge Menu for the buffet, 3 meats, fish and loooong list of sides, breads, desserts, etc.. Good breakfasts, nice number of choices. Always friendly, helpful Staff. Our room was small, one queen bed, one soft chair plus table chair. Others on tour got variations up to/including suites. We always seem to get small room farthest from lobby, kinda uncanny how often.

Yelp
I would definitely recommend staying here. The inn is very charming, well kept, and in a great location. It has a historical feel but is updated with a feasible layout and modern amenities. Our room was clean and we were provided a free upgrade due to us ordering some champagne for my birthday. It's located in downtown Middlebury near all of the local businesses and the shuttle to the Middlebury Snow Bowl. The free breakfast was also a plus, and the afternoon tea time with cookies was a nice touch. The only area that could be improved was the service at the bar and the front desk. Our front desk attendant didn't have answers to some basic questions and the bar tender (who was excellent at making drinks) seemed a bit overwhelmed due to it being a busy night and probably could have used an extra hand. Overall we had a very good experience.
google avatar

Andrea M.

Yelp
Our room is the same as the one in the picture and it's quite cute. Very comfortable king-size bed with plenty of pillows. Period themed room with some great modern amenities like 2 phones, a tv and wireless internet etc. It is possible to book on them through Priceline.com, even making an offer to them. My boyfriend and I got a great deal on this room and just booked to stay an extra night we're enjoying it so much. The downtown is mere steps away and everything is so close by. Very scenic and peaceful town. A perfect little getaway! I think we will be back next year.

Yelp
This is the "classic" hotel in Middlebury and is the older option to the Courtyard Marriott. Small rooms, cosy floral fabric feel. Nice old fashioned dining area downstairs. A short walk the college (5 minutes) Pricy. Watch out for parent weekends at the College when prices go up.

Yelp
A wonderful place for dinner or to stay. I would recommend staying in the Main Inn or the Porter Mansion, rather than the building in the back of the Inn (near the parking lot area). The staff is very polite. I did have a problem once, someone had clearly been smoking in the hotel room. The staff was very polite and quick to move us to a new room, even though the inn was very busy and booked for an event the next day. I was happy they fixed the problem so quickly and without any additional stress. If you stay for dinner, they are very accommodating for food allergies. Gluten free and celiac friendly. I would recommend staying for dinner as the food is wonderful and the do well at accommodating large groups.

Yelp
Found the place on the internet, listed as "pet friendly" hotel. After checking a couple of different sites for pricing, called for a reservation and got a better price. While making the reservation, I also was given a few tips on the town as well. The place was easy to find in the center of town, right next to a "roundabout" but beware the hotel's entrance is right next to it and based what I experienced and saw the next morning looking out the window while eating the hotel's breakfast offering, that roundabout/entrance is something to be done carefully. Our room was in the annex section of the hotel, which meant the motel part of the complex. The room was a little dated but nice and very clean, the carpet didn't have that chemically cleaned stickiness that some hotels have. It had two queen size beds, the linen was white and appeared to be ironed flat. The room had had a surprising amount of towels. Everything was spotless. In regards to pet friendly, walking from the car to the room's door, my dog was absolutely terrified of walking in the room. I had to pick him up and carry him in, once he was in he was fine, no running and sniffing, no marking, nothing, he acted like he was home and jumped on to the couch, so there was something unseen on the sidewalk or threshold that caused his extreme reaction. Because of the motel setting, I used the fan as white noise and everyone including the dog slept like babies. The dog treats at check in were a great touch. The next morning, we went for breakfast. We were greeted at the entrance of the dining room, had our name and room number checked off a list and were led to our seats by the window (a great place to watch the world). The breakfast is buffet style; oatmeal, waffles, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage links were the hot stuff, bunch of different breads, rolls and muffins galore, and fruit. Despite the grumblings of an old lady sitting a couple of tables over that didn't like fruit, didn't like the cloth napkins and didn't like her husband reading the newspaper while she was trying to talk to him. The staff kept the coffee cups and chafing dishes full; everything food and service was good and in abundance. There is lots of places to stay in Middlebury but this will be our place to stay on future Vermont trips.

Yelp
Charming. Located right downtown. Good breakfast. Comfortable room. Great vistas. Very friendly and helpful staff. I wish I had stayed three days!

Gary W.

Yelp
Traditional established non-franchise hotel venue which fits the locale. Great central location. Pleasant and helpful front desk staff. Room and bathroom comfortable, clean, but ready for a refresh. Plenty of car and truck traffic on the street. Beautiful main dining room. Good quality breakfast buffet. Main ding was that the A/C had been set to maximum cold and the room was ice cold to the degree it was uncomfortable. Enjoyed staying here and would again.

Yelp
Great location right downtown. We've stayed in annex (twice now) where they allow dogs. Rooms are OK. Breakfast buffet really good with homemade waffle, giant pancakes, fresh fruit, great scrambled eggs and salsa. Coffee pretty bland and OJ from concentrate kind of lame for the price, but overall good place. Nice little bar with some good top shelf booze. Bar is in the corner with lots of couches and chairs. Friendly staff who aim to please.

Yelp
A quaint and quiet hotel convenient to Middlebury College. Stay in the Porter Mansion if you can. Oh and the staff is fantastic. Patricia, the main receptionist, is an absolute doll. She so sweet and accommodating.

Larry S.

Yelp
felt like I was staying at my grandparents house which isn't a bad thing. beautiful Victorian style, with creaky floors, bookcases in the halls with chairs, took a few minutes to get used to how the rooms were laid out up stairs, heat lamp in the bathroom is a nice touch. the staff were very friendly and acknowledged you as soon as they saw you coming towards them. only downside is I wish my room had a mini fridge, just to keep a couple cold drinks on hand, but soda/water is available in the lobby for a small fee.

Yelp
Really great clean, comfy, and courteous. Super good place to stay right in the middle of town. Some say it's haunted

Stayed here for a wedding. The place was nice, I just felt it was a tad overpriced for what you got. Also, the bartenders at the Hotel Bar were awful at making drinks. Stick to beer and wine. They poured those into cups just the way I like it.

Yelp
This hotel is clean and comfortable and well appointed. Very disappointed that the room we were assigned was not a historic room, decorated in an historic fashion and had no elevator. It appears you need to be very specific when booking hair as they're only a handful of rooms that are historic.

Yelp
The Inn is quaint and centrally located. Staff are pleasant and helpful but the building is old and a bit worn. Heater unit is turning on and off every two minutes and the pipes are clanging. Doesn't bode well for good nights sleep

Yelp
We just spent one night here and I can't wait to go back! The town is a quaint New England town. Middlebury College is nearby. The Inn is an historic Inn and the furnishings are beautiful. There is an antique Otis elevator from the 1920s which needs an operator. The staff were happy to oblige us! Our room was comfortable and quiet. The highlight of this Inn is the Morgan Grill! I'd drive there just for the food! One of the best restaurants I have ever experienced! The menu is varied for meat eaters, vegetarians, vegan and gluten free! Everything was superb! The wait staff is amazing! I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Stayed here for a nice weekend getaway. Had a very pleasant stay. Only two small issues, and both were taken care of quickly and professionally. The Inn has a nice character that isn't found in most modern accommodations. (assuming you stay in the Inn itself, and not the annex) Had a really good breakfast both mornings too. I have a feeling that we'll be back.

Yelp
I like the Inn. One time I stayed here and it was alright but it was really expensive. I prefer to just wait until the campus is open or stay at a friend's place.

Yelp
What a pleasant surprise awaits anyone who wants good food and wonderful atmosphere! Last week on the spur of the moment two friends and I choose the Middlebury Inn for lunch. The price was reasonable, the staff was friendly, and the food was delicious! I ordered a half sandwich with a side salad. It was a perfect combination!

Yelp
We had a lovely time and I am glad they are so welcoming to dogs. We stayed in the annex, but sometime I would like to stay in the inn itself (without the dogs, of course). Friendly staff and easy access to downtown.

Yelp
I have stayed here several times, including this week. This has become my favorite place to stay in Vermont. The Inn is beautiful and the staff are all friendly and helpful. We stayed in the annex that doesn't look like much from the outside. However inside is a beautifully appointed room with extremely comfortable beds. The main Inn is decorated wonderfully and is a joy to visit. They have afternoon tea with hot beverages and iced tea and lemonade plus cookies and other pastries. Breakfast at Morgan's Tavern is absolutely delicious and very well priced, especially considering the quality and quantity. Had pancakes, waffles, and the egg/potatoes/bacon meals on different days. All were perfect. Overall a truly great place to stay and I will definitely return!

Yelp
This inn was such a letdown. The building is historic and it's walkable to the cute downtown and college, those are big pluses. But overall the place is austere, not warm or cozy; the room and bathroom were clean but not spectacular; the bathroom has no place to put your toiletries, you have to put them on, well, the toilet lid. The hotel is surrounded by a busy traffic circle, so you hear the traffic all night. And they advertise this amazing breakfast online but you get there and it's a sad, overcooked buffet that costs $10 a person -- tip, there's a great breakfast place on the side of the park in front of the Inn, go there instead. For a room that was $188 after VT tax and the wasted $20 in breakfast, we felt stolen from. This should have been so much nicer for the price.
