I only used the parking 🅿️ garage. The lights are automatic. There is an EV charging station. The entrance and exit are not enclosed. Large pickup 🛻 trucks and SUVS may find the parking spaces small. I had an issue with using my Spot Hero QR code at the entrance and exit kiosk. There were no employees to ask for help.

The hotel is a bit dingy looking, carpet and decor a bit dated. But the customer service is excellent the room a good size the toilet a little on the small size. It's excellent for a short stay, good shopping five minutes away. Overall my family and I enjoyed our stay.

We just stayed here less than a week ago and had a wonderful time. We attended the Christmas Pops and had the convenience of staying here across the street. We received FREEEE Parking because we had tickets to the concert. To me that is unheard of and a great draw to stay here. Anywhere else and you would pay atleast 50 bucks a day. We had two adjoining rooms so everyone had their own bed which were very comfortable. No this is not the 4 seasons but it does not need to be. The hotel is in a beautiful spot, the staff was very nice, the rooms were clean and spacious and we will be back next year!!!!!

The lobby is very welcoming, the nice paint, the bright colors. The entrance was a bit hard to get to, but nonetheless was found after a minute of walking. The hotel is very well managed, and the staff was very nice. My 3 stars is based on the idea that it's not a very nice place. It's located in a well spot, but the rooms and hallways themselves felt so gloomy and weren't lit properly. I did enjoy my stay, but it could have been better.

The beds were very comfortable. Staff was nice and helpful, shower was hot. But the rooms had almost no heat. The room didn't have it's own thermostat, and offering additional blankets was really all they could do. We took a lot of showers to warm up.

Spent the night here after walking around the cold and windy city all day. We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door by very friendly staff. The check in was fast and they changed our room so we were next to the people we were traveling with. The room was nice, warm and clean, the bed was a little hard, but we were exhausted so we barely noticed. The check out was just as fast as the check in, and again as we were walking out the door we were acknowledged and sent on our way. Thanks to the staff for making our stay so warm and welcoming!

Stayed at this hotel January 2020. Other than the hostel or the hotel not too far away that had "shared down the hall" bathrooms, this was one of the most inexpensive hotels in downtown Boston. As mentioned in numerous previous reviews, it's an "older" hotel with perhaps a slightly dated decor, but my room was large, with new looking furniture and fixtures. The bed had nice bedding and was comfortable. The bathroom was small and a bit dated. But everything was very clean and functional. I'd call it a solid 2.5 star hotel that is a great value.

Google
I gave two stars because I love the staff- their courteousness, hospitality, eagerness to help, they are awesome! The hotel itself is old, needs remodeling as all other commenters stated. But I think at $60-$65 a night its fair. The heat in my room didn't work the first day, it was freezing. It did get fixed the second day. I didn't get any sleep because there's a loud mechanical noise that is loudest when laying in the bed. The shower drained slowly. The room size was nice.

Yelp
We stayed over night for a concert. I work in the city so it seemed pointless to drive home (providence area) just to drive back up in the morning. I choose this location because it's the most wallet friendly place in the area. Any name brand chain hotel would be about 100 dollars more a price in back bay, trust me I checked. And the hotels over by the Blue Hill Pavilion where the show was we're almost 600 for on night! I ended up getting a kind sized bed for 220. Still would have liked less than 200, but the front desk man let me park my car overnight for free since I was seeing a concert. This was awesome of him and made me much happier about the price. They always allow overnight parking if you stay for a TD bank north show or a symphony show but the pavilion isn't on the list, but he honored the deal anyways! Thank you! The place IS like walking into the 60s, but I loved it. It was vintage and everything was clean. Older, but clean. Not very great beds, no big fluffy sheets and comforter but then again I wasn't paying for a luxury hotel. It was well worth the price. Great area, right near work and a short walk from everything. The staff was BEYOND hospitable. Every one we talked to was nice and once again it was CLEAN. It even smelled clean. I loved that they have parking and a POOL. Such a cute extra feature. I would recommend this place to someone staying a night or even a week. It has very large rooms and everything you could need. Now once again, it's not a luxury hotel but it is well worth the 1/3 a price of everywhere else. I heard it's going to be closing soon. I find that very regrettable! We need a nice affordable place in this area. Don't leave us, Midtown!

Yelp
I am sorry to say that this hotel should be closed. My first room had no air conditioning. After one night soaking wet I asked for it to be fixed. I was told it could not be and they transferred rooms. My new room has a drawer that open and I hit my knee. It will not stay shut. The maintenance man came and out a towel under the front of the dresser to tilt it backwards so the drawer stays shut. The toilet ran all night every night. There was no hot water for showers. Avoid this place if at all possible. The only saving grace was that the people that work here are very nice. Andre at the front desk is a foodie and knows all the good restaurants. If the hotel was as nice as the people it would be a five star hotel.

Yelp
Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Great location that easy to go around in Boston. No refrigerator The sound of heatings was little bit noisy.

Yelp
3/3/2011 Update... was contacted my Todd Sankey, manager of the Midtown Hotel who has assured me that the issues I've delineated will be addressed. So, in the future I hope visitors will have a different experience. A mixed value: Super friendly staff, cheap rates and in close proximity to some fantastic Boston stuff. MAJOR CAVEAT, tho... hotel is dated and frayed at the edges. My room was literally falling apart. 1) Moldy walls in the bathroom 2) Windows suffering from aluminum rot WITH HOLES in them. 3) Paper thin walls. There were students all over the hotel rehearsing Cellos and Violins for an audition. Mind you, it was pleasant music, but if you're picky it might drive you up a wall. 4) DIRTY vents in the bedrooms. Doesn't anyone dust? 5) OK, minor point... I notice that their elevator inspection certificate is dated Oct. 2010... and it's a NINETY day TEMPORARY certificate. 6) The toilet in my room cycled every ten-twelve minutes 7) lastly, the heat didn't function properly in my room. So... stay there if you don't mind the super funky (and I mean FUNKY) "atmosphere." I wasn't that picky, but next time I'll be staying elsewhere. Oh, one plus... it's not listed on the bedbug registry!

Yelp
I stayed at the midtown town hotel for 2 nights. As the name suggest, it is midtown, so it is not close to downtown, Harvard or MIT (places where you might want to visit in Boston). Having said that, it is just next to the green subway line (E). So, not too bad given the price. Also, there are a few coffee shops close by for breakfast. The hotel room is like 2-star hotel room. Private bathroom, A TV, somewhat ok level of mattress. The worst thing is the room temperature. I turned off the air-conditioner, put on the blanket, still very cold and literally made me sick after 2 nights. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel if you could book some other places in advance.

Yelp
Good morning,  I am emailing to simply inform you that this hotel, I hope doesn't reflect your other locations if you have any.  I am currently staying in your Boston location, for the weekend attending an event. Your hotel was discounted heavily and Its right across the street from the venue. Upon entering in lugging my suitcase, you have no elevator?! I have to drag my suitcase up the stairs to get to the elevator to head to my room. That's rediculous. What if I was handicapped, how am I going to go up the stairs? And before I leave the lobby area an complain about my rooms, the manager I assume wasnt polite, he barely said welcome and neither attendant said I hope you enjoy ur stay.  I know move to my room, I dragged my heavy 45lbs bag up the stairs and head to the elevator, looking at the walls an corners of the rooms. "You can tell this place is old" I thought to myself.  We get in the tiny 4 people elevator which was annoying cause my friend and I had bags with us. Once in the room, we get inside, yes it looked neat and tiny however the bathroom was even smaller, the toilet seat was old an worn looking but I had to use the bathroom. I finished and the toilet didn't want to flush my liquid waste an tissue.... I pumped it 2x hoping it would go eventually it did however after my friend went, the toilet decided to flood the entire bathroom.... Yay only 10 min into this place.  I call the front desk, the man that checked us in apologized an will have someone come up. It's broken, they guy tells us and hell get us another room so we just wait. We get a call, I answer an the man says "pack your bags" an hangs up, I'm like wait, what?! I dial back saying are we supposed to do something? He then informs he is sending someone up to bring u to your new room,..... O great...the plumber came back an said "I'm sorry for the inconvenience I will be taking u to your new room". This man was nice, understanding that isn't supposed to be the experience.  We get into the new room and the new room has the tiny bathroom in the middle of the room! Ew!  In conclusion, you are competing with heavy hitters, the Sheraton, Hilton, westin an more located near the convention center,  all those hotels take pride in their hotels, apologize for everything and simply supply customer service to their patrons. Your establishment manager (a black guy, I didn't catch his name) did non of the above, not one apology! Forced customer service is still customer service! The bare minimum is required! This is unacceptable! After this experience I will make sure to avoid this an all the other locations as well.  This hotel needs to be updated, management needs to be coached, this is unacceptable.

Yelp
This hotel was booked thru a hotel app based solely on pricing! It was the cheapest in the area and the location was dead center in midtown. We were in walking distance to everything and there was tons to do. It was apparent that the place was outdated but you could tell they had done some remodeling. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We did have to pay $34 for overnight parking which I was not anticipating but it was to be expected. The hotel manager was super sweet and accommodating. The place was very clean and comfortable. For needing a place to only sleep this was perfect. My only complaint is the walls are like paper and they play loud music in the hallways.

Yelp
Opening statement - I did not stay overnight. I was helping my mom check in. Her room was neat and clean. The hallways and outside of the hotel, on the other hand, are really gross. I was shocked at how nasty the carpet and walls were while walking her luggage to her room. I got really nervous until I saw the room. She has stayed here a few times before and likes it. Shockingly expensive, but you pay for the location. They also had a deal where parking was free for the night if you were going to Fenway (which we were, which is why she booked the room). Not 100% sure I would stay there, personally.....

Yelp
So here's the thing. If everything goes smooth, what's really to review? I mean if it all goes according to plan, then the review is going to reflect that. It's when things get a little messy that staff show what they are made of. The facility is nice, good bargain range place. But the staff are 4 star plus. When I arrived, three issues were in play. First, I'm a bone head. My truck was a little too tall for the garage, and it scraped. Second, the AC was down in the hotel. Third, the elevator was out. The young lady that checked me in doesn't get paid enough, because she's management material. She was very sympathetic and obviously had good training because she put me at ease immediately. She expressed concern about my vehicle and advised me if an alternate entrance. She got me a first floor King room close to the lobby and offered to get me fans if needed. She said that I could get a nice cool breeze from the window, and said the traffic would die down later (and it did). Every single staff member I interacted with for the next three days was pleasant, smiling, helpful and attentive. The location proved outstanding. I was steps away from my conference at the Prudential, and there were places to eat and shop everywhere. My last night, I walked a block down for Thai food, and on the way back I was treated to a jazz ensemble playing an inpromptu session at the music store next to the hotel. It made me feel like I was in a 40's movie with Frank Sinatra. If you are the kind of person who needs to be served, and you want fancy marble and an over stocked mini bar, keep scrolling. If you want a nice room with reasonable rates and you can make your own fun, stay here.

Yelp
This hotel is not worth the stay at all. The winter season in Boston is not always cold. There are days where it goes up to a sunny 75 degrees on February. And yet the only HVAC system that works is the heater. You can't keep the windows open because it's loud outside. Speaking of loud, you don't need a wake up call or an alarm when you stay at this hotel. The housekeeping staff will wake you up with their loud conversations right outside your door at 7 AM on a weekend. Not to mention their door slams and yelling across the hallways to each other. I should've checked Yelp before booking this last minute stay on my short-notice trip. This hotel is NOT a hotel. Lesson learned.

Yelp
What's an antonym for the word "boutique"? I think if the Midtown Hotel can hold out another 20-30 years, it will qualify for museum status. I kind of liked staying here. Everything in my room screamed, "Holiday Inn 1986!" The location is good. And at $170 a night during peak convention season, it had the other great benefit, an available room. I just couldn't say no. It's functional, and just judging from the looks of the rooms, it's as clean as it needs to be.

Yelp
I came here with a couple friends and spent two nights in Boston. The total was about $180 for 2 nights for 4 people? Pretty inexpensive. The location is about a 1-2 block walk from a subway station - pretty convenient. It's also next to a cute cafe and the mall, so you don't need to wander very far for decent food. Everyone else's reviews about how dated this place looks are right on. I think the most modern looking thing in the room was the TV. Despite the old style, the room was really spacious, clean, and comfortable. My only complaint was the lighting. There were some wall lights and a floor lamp, but there was no over-head lighting. I guess its an old building and would take quite an effort to rewire. The people there were totally sweet. When we were browsing through the maps, one of the guys there asked us where we were going and marked up our path for us. Cute.

Yelp
My parents stayed here for 5 nights the long July 4th weekend. They have stayed here before, and waaay back in 1997, my mom and I stayed here when we came to Boston to look at colleges. That was 16 years ago, whoah... anyways... I wish my parents stayed here more often. They usually stay at La Quinta in Somerville because of the free breakfast and free parking, and it's usually a little cheaper, but I like this place. This place reminds me of the movie Catch me if you Can (except for there's no Leo wah). It's very retro, but kept fresh because the people who run this hotel take very good care of it. No, this place isn't fancy.... but at these prices, of course not. But, it's clean, it's fresh, and there is a pool and there is self-park. I must admit that the weather was 96 degrees all weekend, and I would have loved to spend time in the pool, but I have a sadly high level of what I will call "bathing suit anxiety", so I rarely partake in bathing-suit type activities. Regardless, the pool has been well kept up, AND they have a lifeguard. For people with children, you're NOT GOING TO GET that ANYWHERE ELSE in this city. I think that is a really high class thing to do, to spend the money on a lifeguard so people can safely have a 2nd set of eyes and ears. The place is pet-friendly, and I think there is a fee. The room had powerful air conditioning (thank goodness, it was hot out there!) and the housekeepers did a pretty good job refreshing the room each day as well. I also want to give props to the attentive staff in the lobby. I have a dog who has never escaped me, but he somehow slipped through the hotel room door when my mom was leaving the room for something. He bolted down the twists and turns down the hallway, and HAD THE CONCIERGE NOT STOPPED HIM, he would have bolted through the double doors and into Huntington Avenue. It was a wakeup call for me, because he's never even tried to escape me. I love the staff here. They always greet you when you come in and leave, and it's very old-timey, old-fashioned in how they provide service. LOVE THIS HOTEL. I included a pic of my dog taking a little nappy nap on the bed. I worked in hotel management in Boston years ago (Ritz-Carlton, Hotel Commonwealth), and I actually believe that for your money, this is, without a doubt, the best hotel in the city, for people who don't to spend their entire paycheck for 2 nights in the city of Boston. Honestly, this place is good. All the 1 review/1 star reviews, ignore those. This place is good value with great people. That's all I care about, and that's what most people who aren't fancypants and/or rich care about too. Check 'em out!

Yelp
Nothing really wrong with this place, but it does feel very dated. They seem due for a renovation and an upgrade of furniture, but I guess they have no reason to, since they are the last remaining affordable hotel in a convenient location. The staff is very friendly and helpful. WiFi wasn't free, but I got it for work. Unfortunately, the connection wasn't very strong. Fun fact: Scenes from Ted were filmed here! If it's good enough for Mark Wahlberg to pretend he stayed here, it's good enough for me!

Yelp
Great Value for the Money! Visited Spring 2012 and Spring 2017. This review could also be titled Hidden Gem. This is a no frills value in the Back Bay Area. You won't find a better bargain in Back Bay. The staff is very nice. They have the cheapest hotel parking fees of any of the Back Bay hotels ($29/day for hotel guests) and you can go in and out as many times as you want for that price. Since it's an old building and the outlets are very limited in the rooms, they had two outlet strips. So there were in fact lots of outlets to charge all your devices. Smart solution! For those of you who regularly read my reviews you may know that outlets and mirrors are my two biggest complaints in hotel rooms. So outlets-good. And mirrors...Good! There is a good mirror in the main room for hair and makeup. As an added perk, the sink is in a separate area from the toilet and shower. However, downside... only one light switch for both which also turns on a noisy bathroom fan. Very annoying. Also, if you are traveling with someone who is asleep, and you would like to turn the light on in the bathroom, you will bathe the whole room with light. The AC/heat in the room was also very noisy. Here are the pros and cons of the place: Pros- Safe in room Coffee maker in room Great location Great value Cheap parking relatively speaking Friendly staff Outdoor Pool in season Free WiFi Cons- Bad free WiFi- can't do anything, need to re-log in every single time you try to get back on line. Lots of steps and very confusing layout of this very large and old building. Lots of halls like a maze. Only one trash can in the whole room. They need a second trashcan for the bathroom. No towel hook or rack at sink area which is totally separate from shower so....???? Where am I supposed to put my towel? No fridge or microwave Powdered creamer for the in room coffee The pros totally outweigh the cons in the very pricey area of Back Bay. Don't expect too much. But you will be greeted by friendly front desk and you will have a clean room, coffee in the morning and a good nights sleep....that is if you can manage all the steps and find your room in the maze! I would recommend this hotel to a specific type of person. If you need more lux, you won't like it. I would definitely stay here again if I need to be in Back Bay on a budget.

Yelp
Overall the price could be considered as quite high for the quality of the hotel, but it should taken in consideration that this is Boston and the city is extremely pricey especially about lodging. So if you are looking for a centrally located basic hotel from where you can walk anywhere (from Fenway to the Freedom Trail) and that's also very well served by public transporation, this is a top choice if you want to save some money. Honestly we were looking just for a place where to sleep so we didn't use any of the hotel facilities so I cannot really judge on that. The place might have seemed a little bit outdated, but it was quite clean so nothing really to complain about. Except for check-in and check-out we didn't really have any chance to interact with the hotel staff, but in general they all seemed to have a nice positive attitude and were always smiling. Only negative aspect I could point out is the cost of the parking which is 29$ per day that adds up to a +200$ bill (and that was at a discounted price too) which honestly might be tuned down a little bit although I can understand that parking in Boston is not either easy or cheap so maybe in a way the price can be right as well (just seems a lot from my personal point of view). To sum it up let's say that if we should be back to Boston, we would definitely consider going back here.

Yelp
This place hasn't been renovated since the 1970s at least so when you walk in you feel like you're entering a horror movie set....BUT the staff are so professional, helpful, friendly and fantastic, and they more than make up for the hilariously antiquated rooms by keeping them EXTREMELY clean. The heating implements are those laughable floor-runner radiators, but I ran my finger over them (it's still summer mind you!) and there wasn't a speck of dust. Impressive! Linens were clean, floors and 1970's linoleum bathroom (hahaha!) also very clean. We'd recommend this for the easy-going traveler on a budget.

Yelp
The hotel is, as many people have said before, in a good location and provides you with a quirky if very dated and somewhat tired experience. The room was big, comfortable and the beds were really good. The staff were friendly and helpful, but the overall building is definitely dated and more shabby than chic.

Yelp
So, where to begin. One of worst hotel experiences I've ever had. When our party of 5 walked in we had to drag our suitcases up a small set of stair to the elevator which we had to search for. (Another hotel guest pointed us in the right direction). We got to the room to find that the room was tiny and that there were only 2 queen size beds for 5 people. I had booked the room for 5 people. When I called the front desk I was told that they gave the last large room to the party of 6 that came in before us and there was nothing they could do but bring us a cot. I was not happy. We were heading to a concert so we left after turning in the air conditioner on because it 97 degrees in the city with 60% humidity. We returned to our room around 1am to find the cot in the hallway. We brought it into the room and set it up in the only area possible which was blocking the door. If there had been an emergency we would have been trapped. The room was over 80 degrees and we realized the air conditioner wasn't working. We again called down to the front desk and we're told they were sorry and couldn't fix it but they could send up a fan. In the meantime my daughter went to take a shower to find the bathroom to be the size of a broom closet and mold in the shower. It was so hot we barely got any sleep and couldn't wait for morning to come so we could leave. This whole experience cost us almost $600. It was without a doubt the most awful hotel stay I ever had. I would recommend this hotel to my worst enemy! I would give it zero stars if the app would allow me to!

Yelp
These guys are surprisingly petty. I reserved on Hotels.Com, and I don't know if they have a thing with them, but that was the start. They gave us a 15% off cupon, and relatively snarkily said that it would only work if we booked direct with them. Okay, I don't mind a discount. Parking wasn't included and was $29 a day, and the garage itself was a CF. When I mentioned I was running an event and asked if we could get late checkout, they said that would be half a day's additional charge and seemed upset with the fact we asked. Now, my Fiancee has bad legs, so I requested a room on the first floor close to the entrance. They instead put us on the top floor as far away from the entrance as humanly possible, which read to me as a passive aggressive move in response to my request. Additionally, I asked for a roll-away bed, and they didn't provide it. Maybe that's what I get for having a bow in my hair but presenting as male? The front desk staff feel so unapproachable. The room itself isn't bad, but the hallways are very seedy, and the elevator feels like it's going to fall out from under you. Additionally, there's no included wi-fi, the blow dryer is missing, and they couldn't even spring for a toilet paper holder; the toilet paper is just sitting on the counter. All in all, I don't recommend this place. I just paid you $209 a night, I'm not paying more for wi-fi; especially when you treated my fiancee with chronic medical problems like crap.

Yelp
The best thing about this place is location. Otherwise it was terrible. First I reserved a room with two Queen beds but they were only full sized double beds Second the room was boiling hot and did not cool off even with the window open. Third to get to the elevator to get to the second floor room one has to go up two sets of STAIRS. In short the second best thing about the hotel is its location. The last good thing is that it had no bedbugs, fleas or vermin. Avoid this place unless location is all important.

Yelp
I have stayed at other pricey hotels in Boston--Marriott Copley, Fairmont Copley Plaza, Hyatt Regency--and they have been wonderful. I love them all. But, the best one so far is The Midtown Hotel. The location is great, room is big, and the hotel staff is professional, kind, friendly, and polite. Easy access to museums, subway, theaters, restaurants, shops, stadium, all of fun things the city offers to both visitors and Bostonians. Prices are good, and WiFi is free. I will book this hotel again for my next trip. I recommend this hotel highly!

Yelp
I booked this hotel last minute because most hotels in back bay were sold out and the very mediocre ones had insanely jacked up their prices for this week. I didn't know what to expect with Midtown but I couldn't be more satisfied. The staff I met - Mark, Marshall and Okos were beyond helpful and kind - even lent me a large umbrella for the rain! Room was clean, comfy and spacious. My 4-year old daughter loved the pool and even though she can swim, the lifeguard there was extra cautious and did not take his eyes off of her. The location is perfect, especially if you are with small children who don't want to walk a ton. The prudential and a ton of other restaurants and shopping are all right there! This hotel is a great hidden gem and I'm thankful I got to experience it.

Yelp
Horrible hotel... more like a motel. Water didn't drain in the shower. No mini bar. For two nights at almost 1k it was the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. Find another hotel to stay at when visiting Boston.

Yelp
I've stayed in a LOT of hotels for both business and pleasure and this was a rough experience. We stayed here for four days and had serious issues/complaints every single day, ranging from usual poor hotel accommodations to absolute ludicrous encounters. Some problems we knew going in, like the lack of amenities such as a mini fridge or microwave. Others we were unpleasantly surprised by at check-in, like the terribly uncomfortable beds and lack of an elevator. How is that ADA compliant?! We were here for a convention and got home late most nights. Every single morning, we were woken up abruptly by something or another. The first morning, a blaring alarm in another room went off for an hour straight. Since it was an hour, I'm inclined to believe it was a vacant room and the housekeeping/inspector team failed to turn off an alarm that was set from a previous guest. After we fell back to sleep, we were awakened again by... the sound of someone TUNING A SAXOPHONE. Seriously?! We called down to the desk and they took care of this. The next two mornings, we were rudely awakened by the housekeeping staff screaming at each other from rooms and down the hall and right in front of our door and pretty much everywhere. This continued from 8am to noon depending on the day. This is an issue that has been brought up by other reviewers and is a serious problem that is not difficult to fix. Talk to your housekeepers about it, Midtown Hotel. While the room was large, it was SO uncomfortable. As mentioned by other reviewers, there is no A/C capabilities so the room is a sauna during hot days. We kept the window open to cool it down. The beds were lumpy and lack any sort of support. The time we managed to sleep was restless and poor. We called for a late checkout the last day (we'd called the night before but you have to wait for first shift at 7am to decide) and got a 1pm checkout. This was very helpful, especially since we'd been woken up by the housekeepers early again and were moving slower than usual. Unfortunately, no one communicated that to the housekeeping, two different team members of which knocked and asked us when we were leaving a grand total of 4 times between noon and 1pm. Seriously?! I had even come out to ask for towels and told the attendant we had a 1pm checkout previously. Also, the doors on either side of the building are supposed to work with your room key but do not, so be prepared to walk the full length of the building twice to enter through the main doors. PROS: Some of the desk staff are nice, it's walking distance from the Hynes Convention Center, room is large, can sometimes get a late checkout*, onsite parking is offered CONS: Housekeeping staff will have loud conversations outside your door at all hours, walls are so thin you can hear the alarm clocks down your hall, no elevator, no A/C unit so it will burn you up alive in your room on a warm day, *poor communication between housekeeping and front desk, uncomfortable beds, no microwave or fridge, low water pressure, parking is expensive Usually, if there are any pros, I try to rate at least 2 stars. However, I truly believe that until this hotel seriously ups their hospitality, communication, property, and amenities up, no one should choose to stay there. It's simply not worth it. ALL IN ALL: Not worth a single penny saved. I would never stay at this location again.

Yelp
What a dump. I have no problem with dated, but dirty is another thing. If going to Boston for a graduation, be sure and reserve your room in advance or you may end up here. The room had clean linens, but the rest of it were questionable. It was located right by a cleaning closet and the loud voices and bumping of cleaning carts stared very early. Lobby staff seemed disinterested and were frequently just goofing around. Halls were are poorly marked maze. The location was convenient and that's about the only positive comment I can make.

Yelp
Worst experience in the whole time I've ever hotel stayed if I could give them a zero star I would. Staff is nice good helpful ppl but the rooms have no a/c it blows out but doesn't cool the room down. This place is the worst place to stay especially for 269$ for a night

Yelp
Mold, pubic hair, fan#1, fan #2. Air conditioner sucked. Staff rude to me other staff. I left to go home 4 days early, 1800 miles away. Couldn't handle the heat and filth. NO WHERE on their website to leave a review. Need I say more?

Yelp
There is something up that this hotel gets the reviews it does - moldy rooms, torn wallpaper, dirty floors in rooms and hallways, peeling paint, rusty tubs and showers, and a step ladder in the elevator, plus a night manager that wouldn't give a full refund because some bs about what we said about not being close to where wanted to be in Boston. What we said was that the hotel, inside and out, wasn't even close to what the reviews on Expedia and Hotels.com said. Must be bot or paid reviews. Looks and feels inside and out like the kind of place that rents rooms by the hour. Avoid at all costs.

Yelp
Very minimal, bare bones hotel. Location is good and walking distance to Fenway and other attractions but only a good option to stay if you are spending very little time in the room.

Yelp
For the price, this place was great. Very good location close to everything. Room was large and comfortable! Our toilet had some water around it as if it was sweating which was a little odd but not a huge deal. bathroom was very small too. No restaurant on site but a great restaurant for breakfast just a few doors down (Thorntons). We would definitely stay here again!

Yelp
There are a lot of places around the building that your gps/uber would take you. We drove down a back alley and then to a entrance that wasnt useable. When we finally arrived getting checked in wasnt an issue. In terms of accessiblty, this place is a nightmare. There are 2 flights of stairs that you have to drag your luggage up to get to a hallway to walk down to get an elevator. Which only makes sense if you are on that side of the hotel. So we needed up going on the side with no elevator because it would just be one more extra set of stairs. In addition the stairwells are narrow and you just struggle if you have suitcases that are heavy. The rooms are ok but you are getting what you pay for since this is one of the cheapest hotels you can get by the Haynes convention center. They do have a microwave for use in the hotel breakroom that you just need to let someone at the front desk know and they will let you in. The housekeeping staff enter rooms at like 8:30 in the morning for cleaning which was odd since we were there for 4 days and most days were just waking up. Overall not a bad place to stay but dont expect the Hilton

Yelp
This hotel is the worst I've every stayed in. The room I'm in sounds like tractor trailers are running idling in the next room. Getting to my room on the second floor required a long walk from the front desk to where the (1) elevator was. Once on my floor I felt I walked in many circles to get to my room and felt like I wouldn't find my way back to the elevator. I have no idea how I'm going to get any sleep. The rooms are dingy and not welcoming. What a mistake I made in choosing to stay here. I would not recommend this hotel.

Yelp
Here goes... The map didn't lie, I picked up a really affordable room for the week at Expedia...It is walking distance from the Hynes Convention Center...Plenty to eat, plenty of nightlife around, etc...I cant complain about the location at all for my needs. I arrived at the hotel and received a level of customer service that it is rare to experience in any business, especially in a 2-3 Star Hotel...I haven't heard that many "please & thank yous" from anyone person within a 5 minute period EVER...very polite, service oriented, etc...even offering help with my bags, etc... And then, the BUT happens...you leave the front desk to go to your room and realize that you need to take the stairs and a trip down the hall to get to the elevator. Just to clarify, NOT WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE... I hunt for my room, and without some serious exploring, room 236 isn't easy to find...the sign from the elevator doesn't include 236 in it's directions...WTF Get to the room after a long day of coast to coast travel...and there's skidmarks in the toilet...Come On!! I almost got over that as I looked for the TV...why is in not in front of either bed...it was literally on the opposite side of the room -- like you're suppose to watch it from the desk/table. I'm glad I have 20/15 vision!! I couldn't stop complaining...especially because it kept getting weirder...I looked at the interior wall (next to the entrance/door) and noticed that there was a pair of open curtains hung there...it would make you curious too I'm sure and then I realized that the curtain is there because this is not a wall, this is a bizzare, translucent window...you could see people's silhouettes pass by...Really, WTF!!?? And why is there no trash can in my room? Why is there a bar of soap for the sink and not an extra for the shower?? Why is the maid playing games with the towels?? Oh well, at least it doesn't smell like cigarettes... And like I said, the front desk staff was nice... And it was walking distance to the Hynes Convention Center... It's just everything else that sucked!!

Yelp
In the category of low price central accommodations in a big city this is five stars. Sheltered parking adjacent to the lobby. Large comfortable rooms Clean Efficient and well-staffed front desk. We paid $129 on Saturday night. I laugh when people who did not want to shell out three times as much for a brand name hotel say, "cheap hotel, no amenities". Bring your own chocolates and put them on your pillow.

Yelp
I can't give this hotel more four stars because it is old but I would definitely stay here on my next visit. The location of this hotel is great! Just a minutes-walk to great shopping and great restaurants. If you have any questions just ask the front desk staff. Thanks to their bell-boy, who was working when we got there, we saw and experienced the most of what we were looking for in the shortest time possible! Rollaway beds are free, daily parking is very affordable and their outdoor pool gets them bonus points! Even though I would love it if this hotel was newer and shinier, I would not wanna give up the affordability they offer! So I'd like to take time to thank The Midtown Hotel for hanging in there as the most affordable hotel in Boston!

Yelp
Raw sewage in tub, moldy shower curtain and they tried to cover it up with carpet deodorizer, but even made it worse. The pictures don't document the smell. Complained to front desk and was told sorry nothing they could do... come back in morning for manager. contacted hotels.com who contacted them... now the hotel is saying I didn't complain. Very unethical... just accept the responsibility that floating sewage in tub is not ok in any book.

Yelp
Looks more like a motel: basic bed and bathroom, no amenities (in room fridge, microwave, or ironing board). Poor customer service. I requested a freezer because I'm breastfeeding. I was told that there was no need to reserve it ahead of time, simply request at the desk when I check in. 5 hours later after 3 calls to the desk it arrived, except it was a refrigerator as they "don't have freezers." Next morning, I did not have hot water in the shower. Also the floors are incredibly thin, so lots of banging and booms sounds from the overhead. I cancelled my second night reservation and opted to go elsewhere.

Yelp
Old and dated, but clean and friendly. $99 weekday prices/$120 weekend during a Red Sox home stand in June. One of the best rates in town. 2 blocks from Prudential center & T. Opposite direction 1 block Symphony Hall & T. And the garage has Zip cars!

Yelp
For the $ I spent at this hotel, I expected to at least have a lousy soap dish for the sink. What a mess that left. When I asked one of the staff for extra towels, she actually yelled at me... "no, no, no towels'. So I just went over to her cart and took whatever I needed, TP too. The AC barely worked. I asked the front desk to fix it, they didn't. Also, the room cards wouldn't work. I had to take them back a few times to be reprogrammed. If you have other options to stay somewhere else, trust me, do it. Stay away from this place.

Yelp
This was the most inexpensive hotel I could find in Boston. With our AAA discount we paid $101 and change for our Saturday night stay. The hotel staff was very friendly, and helpful. We are going to a concert at TD Garden and when we asked about taxis and the man at the desk gave us instructions for the subway to save us a lot of money. The room is warm and cozy. The beds were nicely made, extremely comfy. And the pillows, amazing!! They have free wifi and many channels to choose from on a flat screen tv. The whole place smells clean and fresh. I only wish the room had a small fridge and microwave. However we improvised and set our leftovers between the curtains and the window, where it's nice and cold this January night. Still an excellent deal. We will definitely be staying here again for our next visit to Boston.

Yelp
The Midtown Hotel is a fantastic find in the city! The building itself is definitely a little worn and dated, but the staff at the front desk and concierge desk were surprisingly cheerful and enthusiastic. You may easily pass by this hotel without noticing it. It's a low building with parking tucked underneath. I've heard this is some of the cheapest hotel parking in the city at $14/day. (They seemed pretty relaxed about the fee: we stayed a little past checkout time, with their permission, and they didn't charge us an extra day's parking.) The hotel is located in a prime location 1 block from the Symphony Station T stop and a good little breakfast cafe (no food or restaurant at the hotel), the Prudential Center, walking distance to Newbury Street and many other fun downtown attractions. The room and bathroom were clean and updated and had a view of the Christian Science church and Huntington Ave. We could barely hear the traffic, but the church bells were pleasant in the morning. One major issue with our room (and others, I assume): because the parking is underneath the rooms, the floor in our room was incredibly cold and thick ice built up on the *inside* of our single-pane window in the morning. The forced air duct near the ceiling couldn't quite get the warm air down to the floor without really cranking it up. In their defense, the temperature that day was 7 degrees, but the newer Hampton-Inn we stayed at the following night had no problems. You get what you pay for. All in all, I would highly recommend this hotel as an inexpensive way to stay at the heart of the city without sacrificing too much. We booked our room through a travel site that got us our room for about $80/night, but I believe they typically run $120. This was a great find, and we'd stay here again!

Yelp
Nice hotel for the price. Customer service was great...although a little overworked. Great location! One mile to Fenway with lots of restaurants and nightlife. The room was spacious and bright with a well-kept shower with good water pressure but the room smelled musty but the rug outside the bathroom was wet. Outdoor pool. Free parking if you have tickets to a Red Sox game.

Yelp
Good hotel value. Daily parking is $24. Overnight hotel parking is $29. It would have been better if parking was just included. Parking is covered. Front desk staff were very nice. Rooms are big and clean. Bathrooms were dated. Very close to the prudential center. Walking distance to the subways. I'd probably stay again bc of the value. Our room was facing the street... so you can hear everything outside.

Yelp
I booked through Hotel Tonight... photos made the place look a bit trendy and cozy. Don't be fooled... this is a refurbished motor lodge with an ancient heating system... it's either 50 or 90 in your room. Rooms are very, very basic.... think Youth Hostel.

Yelp
I stayed one night too long at this hotel. I booked a room here with a friend from out of state. It was for her birthday and we weren't really planning on spending much time in the hotel. Thank God! I felt like I was back in the 70's! There is nothing fancy in the room but a bed, tv, and a table with a chair. I guess that's all you really need right? Ehhhh... Midtown Hotel.. you need an upgrade.. desperately! There are some good things about this hotel. It's in the middle of a great area.. Prudential Mall, Copley Mall, many different restaurants, a few streets away from Newbury Street. The Boston Symphony Orchestra is a few blocks away. I would suggest this hotel only if you get an awesome deal and don't plan on being in the hotel for more than just sleeping. FYI: Parking is $18..but still is cheaper than other hotels in the area.

Yelp
The floor in my room was wet from the air unit leaking down on it. Didn't like that. The air/heat units in general are old/outdated. The hotel needs a makeover. It bothered me that no one on the staff offered to help with luggage when walking up the short flights of stairs getting from the lobby to the main hallway. I did not think that hotel was worth what I paid. I could have gotten a 4 star hotel for the same price and way cleaner. The only pro is the location--it's very centrally located and close to public transit.

Yelp
Great location (right in the financial district) for the price. We paid $100 for a Sunday night. As others said, it's a very basic hotel but that's not a bad thing! How much time do you really spend in a hotel, anyway? We checked in around 2am after a football game (GO PATS!) but were greeted with two friendly front desk/valet young people. They didn't charge for parking since we got there so late. The guy checking us out the next morning noticed and said "Then I won't either." and winked. It's the little things Our room was HUGE and very clean. The beds were a little hard but the pillows were great (the pillows are what matter to me). I would definitley stay again.

Yelp
This was a bad experience. I wanted to show my kids Boston. I should have paid more for something nicer. It was old, run down, way too hot, WiFi didn't work. Really bad. I would never recommend.
