Meet the Woman Behind Maui’s Best Donuts - AFAR

"A combined park, working farm, and fine-dining restaurant located where Maui’s two volcanoes meet, this nearby spot is a favored hangout where visitors sometimes sample doughnuts brought from a local bakery; during a happy hour visit a bachelorette party admired the unusually crafted, colorful pastries and a New Yorker quipped that such doughnuts aren’t found back home." - Amanda Castleman

A very nice pub in a beautiful setting. Very nice decor inside with all the Christmas decorations. Cant comment on the food as didnt eat. The staff we're very friendly, but not the best Guinness ive had but the pub itself is stunning!

Really scenic, lovely pub. As you know it’s based on an old mill house, of which is still there! My partner and I went for a roast and the food was fantastic. It took a little while to be shown to our table as you have to queue at the bar, there isn’t a dedicated server to show you to your table. However it was busy, so fair enough. As usual in most places it took a little while to flag someone down and have the bill brought over but again they were very busy. Lovely scenic pond and garden area!

Overall experience of the mill house is awesome, their customer service and food is 10/10 and outside view of little pound is also great. In busy rush hour it may be bit difficult to find parking

I called to ask whether they were serving a Sunday roast on a lovely Sunday, and once I received a positive response, we made a booking. Although we arrived late, we were welcomed by a very polite and courteous gentleman who arranged a wonderful table for us. As we were four adults and two babies, he made sure to seat us at the most suitable and comfortable table so we could relax properly. Not to mention how beautiful the building is and the fantastic atmosphere inside… The toilets were clean, the place was spotless, the tables were immaculate – everything was well organised. All of the staff were knowledgeable, attentive and genuinely caring. Naturally, it was no surprise that the food was excellent. High-quality ingredients, clearly prepared with great care and effort. What can I say – from start to finish, a flawless establishment. Both back of house and front of house deliver an outstanding performance. I am truly delighted to have found a place I can visit at every opportunity. Congratulations to the whole team!

My first time at The Mill House, excellent atmosphere, great drink choices, abit on the pricey side of things but atleast the food was great 👍🏼 and took just 10 minutes to arrive. The vibe, energy Ambience in this place is fantastic so is the Lake views, the interior of the Pub and the designated seating areas around the lake too. Will return very soon!

A great stop not far off the motorway but in an idyllic location. With a beautiful lake where you can sit right on the water. And a lovely old interior. The food was good, calamari was delicious, but my pork and apple pie left a bit to be desired. I’d say it’s a great stop to have a rest if you’re travelling from London.

Yelp
We have used and whole-heartedly recommended the Mill House for at least eleven years. They are close to a very well renowned pet crematorium who originally suggested them to us; a recommendation later consolidated by a friend. Being about one hour away from us by car, they were not our local by a long shot, but they were well worth the visit and the price tag. At the time they were pricey but they were excellent. Excellent ale selection and food quality/portions. However, in the last few years the food had been deteriorating, and the portions shrunk. On our previous visit there, for a wedding, when I asked for my fish to be cooked lightly I was told that the chef had said that they "did not have a licence for sushi" - which was immensely rude and an utterly ignorant comment. Sushi is raw fish, I asked politely for my fish to be cooked properly on not to be reduced to sand, as I had experienced it previously! - take the hint if a customer asks you for fish to be lightly cooked, there probably is a reason for it! Nevertheless, we returned. On our last visit, where all we wanted was a drink, for two of us, they were nothing short of plain rude and the worst service we have ever encountered from ANY establishment, even the lowest! Two of us went in on Sat 5 March at around 12 O'clock. The place was empty bar a party of about 10 to 15 people to the left of the bar, who were standing up, chatting and sipping what looked like orange juice. As we approached the bar, a man, before even asking us what we were there for, told us that they were understaffed and therefore they were not running a lunch service. Furthermore, they would not be serving any drinks or anything to any one but the party they had on the other side of the bar. We were stunned. I worked in the service industry for nearly nine years, and that is NOT how you treat your customers, no matter how understaffed you are. They had no warnings that they had a party in, and therefore would be closed, on any of the many boards they have outside their premises. Nevertheless, if you are understaffed, it is understandable that you may choose not to run a lunch service. It is understandable that it might take a lot longer to be served. Or that you may only be served once. But to be refused service in such an abrupt and rude manner, after having travelled purposefully to them (they are not exactly a pub on the High Street) is simply unforgivable. So, goodbye, Mill House. You have enchanting premises, but my money will go elsewhere from now on. And we will absolutely no longer recommend you to anyone, quite the opposite, in fact (and we have recommended you to hundreds of people through the years). So, you have been warned: visit the Mill House at your peril.

Yelp
Beautiful establishment, great people that work here. Foods good not great but the drinks are great and so is the beautiful scenery.

Yelp
Great location, good ambience and friendly staff. My group did not challenge menu but what we had was pretty good and well presented. Busy Sunday lunchtime so service deteriorated somewhat during our stay but not duly inconvenienced. Our check/bill had a £30 error when presented with someone else's drinks. Despite these hiccups we would recommend a visit and the excellent of range wines, spirits and beer offered are commendable.

Yelp
Kid friendly, yes, gluten free friendly, no. I struggled to find something to eat here. I ended up with the sea bass...and it was horrible. I ate the salad and that was it. It is a great place to explore on a summer day. I don't fancy the food choices for gluten free.

Yelp
What a great find... We took our three small children here on a weeknight while on vacation and was given a small little side room with a cute fireplace that was roaring. It was a slow night - not a lot of people around. The grounds are amazing with a sweet outdoor pond - I can only imagine it on a warm day. The ambiance was perfect - wooden floors, british paintings and art galore, wooden beams and a glass window on the floor where you can see water rushing through. The food is pretty good too. My boys had fish and chips. I had the trout. We also had a cheese plate with farmhouse cheeses and two great desserts- Baked Alaska and Chocolate Fudge Cake. Such a fun way to spend one of our vacation nights in the English countryside.

Yelp
Not that good. Food served old and cold. Roast beef too tough to eat, left most of mine.

Yelp
Unfortunately it was a wet day. The car park is a bit of a walk to what feels like the back entrance. Wait staff not really on their game. Waited 10 mins for menu's, then asked 2 mins later if we were ready to order. Starter came out after mains were brought to the table. Staff not apologetic in any way. Meal was good. Pub with open fireplaces scattered all over. Nice rustic feel. Will try again in the summertime.

Yelp
A Mother's Day lunch totally spoiled by the worst service I have ever encountered. Having waited nearly an hour for our food, my wife was served with her order, but there was no sign of the food for either myself or my son. After another fifteen minutes and having to ask two separate waiters, my son's order arrived along with another order that was clearly not mine. After a further fifteen minutes and again asking two separate waiters, my order eventually arrived. As a result of this appalling service, we shall never be going back.

Yelp
Vastly overpriced, what is basically "pub grub". We waited 15 minutes for a menu, 25 mins for a drink, and when the food arrived it was very poor standard. I only had gammon, egg and chips, the egg was "snotty", the frozen chips glassy, and the ham was from a packet. My husband had pan fried chicken (overcooked) fondant potatoes (one) one piece of roasted sweet potato, and very overcooked broccoli. We shall not be returning. Appalling
