"The large Chihuly sculpture in the foyer—with its cobalt and iridescent glass tendrils—gets 'em in the door, but visitors who know Charlotte will know that the Mint Museum is grand beyond its opening act. The Uptown arm of the institution on Randolph Road, the new, beautifully modern 145,000-square-foot location, houses a staggering collection of crafts and design, plus international and American art. There's also an abundance of artifacts, from an impressive collection of 18th-century British ceramics to paintings, fashion, and collage. Despite the foot traffic, special events, school groups, and fellow travelers, there's still plenty of breathing room. If you're looking for a little more quiet, come after 2 p.m. during the week, and avoid Friday at lunchtime." - Stephanie Burt

Went for the Annie Leibovitz exhibition. Did not disappoint. Really great experience. Giving more highlights behind the scenes. I like how the pictures were thumb tacked behind, was like a photographers studio. Went on a super hot day and it was so nice and cool and relaxing. Being able to sit and enjoy the screens as well. She had a luxurious high profile career. She is still relevant as she still photographs current celebrities but also does individual public people. Very easy to get around museum as escalators take you up all the floors. Did have time to visit restaurant but looked really nice. Many nice eateries in the area as well. Great outside seating under the trees making for nice day out.

Google
Although I have lived in Charlotte three separate times and have visited many times while not living there, I had never been to the Mint Museum until this week. I was pleasantly surprised. Their Contemporary Art gallery is pretty impressive. There are so many works that I simply loved. I’ll be back to visit the collection again. The one thing the museum absolutely has to do is print a purchasable guide / catalog of its permanent collection. Not having one is a lost revenue opportunity.

Google
Was a nice experience overall, the mint museum contains all styles of art works of different time and themes, the architecture design is aesthetical as well. It was not easy to find parking, but one of the good things is that it opens until late so you would have enough time to visit.

Google
If you simply want to give something new a try and you're curious to learn more about art. Without a doubt, you should visit the Mint Museum. I visited on a Wednesday when entrance was free. Learning about various cultures and both local & global artists is a pleasant way to broaden your horizons. If you come, you won't be let down.

Google
Wonderful art museum featuring local artists. Two floors of modern and contemporary collections. Also a variety of love sculptured artwork. Visited here for a private event, but I definitely would visit again.

Google
Nice museum & gift shop. Amazing exhibit of Annie Liebovitz - we got to see so many photos, many unpublished. Other highlights are Warhol, Degas & Georgia O’Keeffe pieces.

Google
I had the pleasure of photographing Annie and Mitchell's wedding at the Mint Museum Uptown in October 2024. The venue itself is gorgeous! I love all the options for photo locations and how close it is to everything in uptown. I highly recommend this venue to any upcoming couples!

Google
The website is very helpful. It was great getting easily into the parking deck. The elevator was on the deck and got me right to the Mint. So much to see with the different floors. I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
While attending the worldwide United Methodist General Conference in April 2024, we had a break on Sunday, so I visited the wonderful Mint Museum in Charlotte, NC. It is well-located a short walk from the Convention Center. I loved their collection of American art, contemporary art and crafts. I also enjoyed shopping in their excellent gift shop. I was delighted by their great collection of many types of items. A great attraction stands just outside the entrance for all to see. Be sure to visit the Mint as well as the Bechtler museum nearby!

Yelp
We enjoyed strolling the 2 floors (3rd and 4th) of this uptown museum. It's been a long while since I've been to this location...and I could barely remember if any of it stayed the same or not. I believe one of the floors were dedicated to the more traditional American art...and the other to the more modern art. I definitely enjoyed the modern art varieties much more. We also noticed that many of the art was accompanied by a video display on the wall, explaining the work in detail. Not sure if that is the new norm, or just for this particular set of works...but I thought that this behind-the-scene exhibition was very enlightening. I'm very appreciative of art and culture in general...and this is definitely no exception. As always, we left agreeing that we should incorporate more arty outings in our future date nights.

Yelp
I love making time to visit this lovely art museum when I come to Charlotte. The place is beautiful and I love their exhibitions. The staff is amazing.

Yelp
We stopped by on a Saturday and were immediately greeted by a friendly young lady at the desk, who explained the activities taking place, and exhibits. We started with some arts and crafts where the whole family jumped in, then spent a few hours exploring the rest of the Museum. This is a great starting point on a block that has plenty to enjoy!

Yelp
The Mint is my favorite museum in Charlotte! As a member of the Young Affiliates of the Mint (YAMs), I get to visit both the Uptown and Randolph locations as much as I'd like (plus a bunch of other perks like museum shop discounts and free weekly yoga). This is also a great event space. I've attended events on the outside front terrace, in the main atrium, and in the special events room + terrace on the top floor. The permanent collection is impressive, with recognizable artists including Kehinde Wiley and local faves like Romare Bearden. They also bring in awesome special exhibits, some of which lean into the museum's craft & design sphere like clothing and seating. I highly recommend this museum (and membership) to those who love art and a great time!

Tierney S.

Yelp
Overloved my time at the Mint Museum! For one, this museum actually has two locations in Charlotte, so the admission to one gets you admission to both with the ability to go the following day you visit the first, if needed. Admission for non-members is only $15 and if you find a Groupon deal, it's $6-$8. That price for two great museums is really a steal! During my visit, this location had a Beyond the Red Carpet exhibit that showed all the various awards across industries sharing history on the awards and organizations as well as the material the award is made out of. Every level of the museum featured a different style of art with the lowest level highlighting art work made by middle and high school students. I was so thankful to experience this museum and really delve into the culture of this city. I wasn't able to go to them Randolph location, but I will certainly be back to prioritize that.

Armistead J.

Yelp
This is a beautiful building and great experience. There is a very nice store on the first floor with great gifts and offerings from all over. The exhibits change regularly with a wide variety of art . The museum itself is located centrally to many other interesting places to visit. They are all with in walking distance.

Ashley F.

Yelp
This is a wonderful museum! I've been many times over the years and every time I come I remember how much I absolutely love museums. There's so much to see and learn here. The art is spread out over a few different levels so you feel like you're on a journey of exploration. I could've spent hours in there, but we got there about 45 minutes before they closed. There is just so much incredible art to look at. I can't wait to go back. The staff was super helpful and friendly, they even have security circling around. I thought that was nice because it's such a big place sometimes you feel like you're in there all alone lol. This museum is free on Weds, so I definitely recommend checking it out then to save a few dollars. We parked right across the street in the Green parking garage, so getting there was easy. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
I found an excuse to visit the main art institute of Charlotte when they offered free admission for a weekend; I nonetheless booked a free ticket online to make sure there wouldn't be any issue when I got there. The building is large, and a central space has some artistic merit while serving a function for events. I was not thrilled as there was some sort of noisy pre-wedding activities going on; using museums for social events after hours is one thing, but during visitation I'm not a fan of it. There were escalators between floors, but one of them wasn't working (I've yet to have any engineer explain to me why it is so hard to keep an escalator running). There were restrooms on every floor. Once I got to the art, there was a variety of intrigue. There were global exhibitions, but the focus was certainly local. Notably, there was probably as much African American art here as there was at the other dedicated museum nearby. The special exhibit was on chairs, which was kind of torture since I got there towards the end of my visit and was looking at chairs that I couldn't sit in, but to their credit they placed some separate non-exhibition chairs in the room for sitting. If I'd paid full price for it, I'd probably be okay with that, particularly given that your ticket is good for the other museum location which is farther from the city center, and lasts for two days.

Yelp
Charlotte's largest and most popular museum is a feast for the eyes and senses, with a sizeable gallery of American art that spans more than 200 years of painting, sculpture and photography. The Mint's permanent collection is worth the visit alone, featuring works by Thomas Cole, George Bellows, Gilbert Stuart and Robert Henri. African-American artists are particularly well represented here, and the Mint houses the country's largest collection of work by the great Romare Bearden, who was born in the city in the early 1900s. We visited recently to take in the outstanding 'Picasso: Out of Bounds' exhibit, which showcased some of the Spanish painter's often-underappreciated landscape works. We didn't expect to spend another hour exploring the Mint's permanent collection, but were thoroughly impressed by the diversity of art spread across the fourth-floor galleries. The Mint also has a entire section devoted to American craft and design, which we'll have to explore on a future visit. Located in the heart of Charlotte's center city, the Mint is a great way to kick off an afternoon in Uptown. Park in the Levine Center Parking Garage or across Tryon St in The Green parking deck, and dive into this wonderful collection of art, housed in one of the city's most interesting buildings. Then drop in the Museum Store before grabbing lunch at any one of the fantastic restaurants within walking distance. A MUST for every Charlotte resident, and highly recommended for anyone visiting the Queen City.

Yelp
the second of two museums on museum-day last spring. they had a special on picasso for a modest up-charge but we chose to stick with the regular fare instead having had a sampling at the Bechtler earlier in the day. also passed on the two-fer on Randolph because sometimes sleeping in on saturday morning is more rewarding than getting up and actually doing things like culture... interesting bit on the mezzanine about the ills of urban life and in the craft + design gallery you're supposed to touch things, lots of things, things with textures, different colored things, different materials... touch, touch, touch... so unlike most serious museums but well suited to the current crop of visitors who are out of their depth when contemplating parking lot puddles. changes to the exhibits as well as special attractions and collections are advertised well in advance to ensure ample opportunities for everyone to enjoy everything.

Julie H.

Yelp
Love this museum! First of all, as a military veteran I got in free along with my family. That is incredibly kind! The museum is just the right size to be interesting but not overwhelming. An eclectic and interesting series of galleries!

Eric Z.

Yelp
We attended for the premier of "The Vault" a beautiful display of African American artwork from locals and other American artists. The set up and layout flowed very well, nice work. The display pieces were amazing. The 3rd floor exhibit was very nice as well. The 2nd floor display was extremely short and not put together well. Great place to see some awesome artwork.

Jon L.

Yelp
An all around great experience for the Pablo Picasso exhibit. There is a parking deck under the building and they will validate. This is a huge building with multiple floors. Very professional Staff and everyone was so nice and helpful. I would highly recommend you check this place out for one of the touring exhibits.

Rachel P.

Yelp
What a nice escape! The building itself is beautiful and airy. The exhibition on fashion was stunning and the permanent collection was varied and inclusive. On a weekday afternoon, the crowd was light so I had plenty of opportunity to wander and absorb. I used my reciprocal membership benefit, so free is even better!

Bianca G.

Yelp
I got to visit the Mint Museum last weekend and it was so refreshing to be around art again! I was pleasantly surprised to see a little children's area that encouraged creativity of different sorts (play, building, drawing, etc.). It made the whole museum more welcoming as a family activity, which I appreciate. We only saw two floors or art, which is a smaller exhibition of art than I expected, but one floor was reserved for a wedding that day, so I'm not sure what was encompassed in there. However, the idea of a wedding there with the large, stained glass windows in the background was really neat. The art that we did see was inspiring and had all the effects I would expect at an art museum. I left feeling satisfied and inspired by beauty. I did not get to see the gift shop mentioned by other reviewers. Parking was not my favorite part of the experience, as I found the parking garage confusing, but once inside, the elevator takes you right into the museum!

Christine F.

Yelp
What an awesome museum it was a delight to visit. You also in and are greeted by a beautiful hanging glass sculpture. The Picasso Landscape exhibit was the in house exhibit when when we visited. It was a wonderful display of his works. We meandered through the rest of the museum , never feeling hurried. There was so much art to look at , but never felt overwhelmed.

Paulina A.

Yelp
We were visiting Charlotte for the weekend and decided to browse the exhibits, which was free admission with our Bank of America cards. It was something to do and at no cost the first full weekend of the month. Let me preface my review by saying I've been to some of the finest museums in the world including the Louvre, Smithsonian, etc. Mint Museum was quite underwhelming and only had 2 floors of exhibits. It took us only an hour to walk through. I was surprised to see that one of the exhibits was homemade art from local artists made in 2019-2021. There were some unique and interesting pieces that caught my eye.

Mateo M.

Yelp
This is the place to see art in Charlotte, and apparently it's often free on weekends, or If you are a healthcare worker! They have different collections in the rotation, so you could see everything from sculpture and impressionist paintings to digital art and comics to what you might call the more out there stuff, like a piece called "orfices" or a giant baboon/human hybrid women breastfeeding a baby. The Mint is a great way to spend a few hours in uptown getting your culture on, I recommend checking it out!

Drew C.

Yelp
Solid downtown move... was very nice to do on an off day. Felt like it was a great central location to do things afterwards or before. $15 per adult with access for two days at this location and the Randolph location. They have 5 floors which you get access to, with the exception of the Picasso section. Very nice showcase of local NC talent. They highlighted some Black culture which was refreshing. The fashion exhibit was dope. They had a great variety of different forms of art. Very eclectic collection of pieces that my man felt it very irresistible not to touch.

Tosin O.

Yelp
Enjoyed my visit. Beautiful space with a wonderful collection. Free admission Wednesdays after 5p.

Michael T.

Yelp
Wow! Lovely, diverse collection! They have so many excellent pieces! Yes, you go for the art, but what blew me away was that the curators absolutely knew how to bring out the best in their pieces. How many times have you been to a museum and seen glass works or sculptures, but were disappointed on how little care was given to presenting the items so you can enjoy them. This museum takes great effort to artistically display their art! Bravo! Take a look at my photos and notice how the two glass works were illuminated to play off their coloration and shadowed to extend the works beyond their space! Look at the chair that looks like it has wings. Notice how the beauty extends into the shadow. A beautiful space, excellent art, and a fantastic example of great presentation.

Annette B.

Yelp
Really nice variety of pieces in this collection. The paintings and textiles here are delightful.

Amanda B.

Yelp
What a great way to spend the afternoon. Could probably get through it all in less than 2 hours. Very much enjoyed viewing all the pieces. I would come back again based on various special showings/events they will have.

Samantha P.

Yelp
My experience was great from the check in process to the actual tour of the museum. The young ladies at the front desk were professional and funny. The exhibits were interesting and artistic. I enjoyed going from floor to floor to discover the new pieces on display. The highlight of the experience was being able to enjoy brunch with my friends at Mariposa restaurant located in the museum.

Kaela M.

Yelp
I really enjoyed this museum! I stopped here in a road trip passing through Charlotte. As an art lover and enthusiast, I could have easily spent at least three hours here. Unfortunately, I only had about an hour and a half. I think that this museum has a large breadth of work that is very impressive. They had glass, wood, ceramic, furniture, paintings, drawings... you name it, they have it! Even if you don't love contemporary art, I feel like they have something for everyone. There were several pieces on display that I found to be thought-provoking, well designed, and/or technical intensive. I loved that they displayed work by local artists, I wish I saw more of that in museums! I really appreciated that the one ticket you purchased gave you access to both Mint museums over the next two days. I ended up going to both and enjoyed both. Of the two, I preferred the Uptown location, but that is just due to the type of art they had here in comparison to the other location. If you have time, make sure to stop in the gift shop! They had many unique items that I haven't seen at a museum shop before. Overall, I would definitely recommend this museum!

Jane D.

Yelp
Absolutely incredible. I attended a wedding here, and the following day decided to explore the museum. for starters, for those of you who are thinking about a wedding, its absolutely gorgeous! Especially being able to go on the balcony. The entire room was so clean and pretty! Ok now to the museum. Its huge. I think 3 stories to explore. Everything is spaced out so well for those who care about social distancing, and the art work was so taken care of I wish there was more pictures. The place is only $15 and wellllll worth it! If we didnt go so close to closing time, I would be been able to stay for an extra hour or so. Total time we spent there was 1.5 hours and I skipped a floor.

William L.

Yelp
The Charlotte Mint has a collection that is better than most other museums in the city, but it's not worth making a special trip for. If you're interested in North Carolina art, I would recommend exploring The Triangle instead. The facility itself is impressive, with ample space and great art display. The staff is also knowledgeable, and there are plenty of public events to attend.

Courtney K.

Yelp
Bottom Line: A surprising museum full of unique, thought provoking art in a wide variety of mediums. In full disclosure I wasn't expecting the art at the Mint Museum to really resonate with me but I decided to visit essentially to pass time and because we'd just had dinner in the same building at Fin & Fino. Despite not expecting much I found this museum interesting and thought provoking. Here is what I really liked about this museum: - Being able to visit on a Friday evening. It was quiet and peaceful. - The Dale Chihuly blown glass chandelier-like sculpture. The only thing more mind blowing about the sculpture is the effort it must take to clean it. - An oil on canvas painting called Harlem Street by Colleen Browning - A marble sculpture of a roller coaster, called Amusement, by Yutaka Sone - An intricate Amish quilt from an unknown artist - Sabrina Gschwandtner's "quilt" made from 16mm film. This was so cool that my husband hunted me down to make sure I had seen it. - A cool necklace called Hunger made by Joyce J. Scott. So neat - Video documentary on Walls - The "Light the Barricades" exhibit that prompts "What is blocking your path?" Per the above list, this museum has art in all different mediums. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of exhibits and spent considerable more time admiring the art than I had anticipated. Usually I am drawn to more classic art like Nighthawks by Edward Hopper, A Sunday on La Grande Jatte by Georges Seurat or Edgar Degas' various dancer paintings and sculptures. Even though the art at the Mint Museum is very different then what I typically find appealing I still really enjoyed my Friday evening at this cultural institute.

Elena A.

Yelp
The space is nice, open & love that there are bathrooms on each floor. Parking or signage for parking could always be better. The child center is pretty cool. I mainly come here for special events or special exhibitions. The price point is decent.. only a couple bucks north of ideal. Overall, I find there is much potential untapped. I have enjoyed the special events and find the customer service to be attentive but it could be a half day experience and it's not. The keen, local observer will notice the chief curator's interactions (or lack thereof) with local, established / known artists. Some are greeted / eagerly engaged with from across the room and others (who "everybody knows") do not so much as even receive a glance much less a welcome. It's odd or interesting considering the narrative to work with local artists.

Malika E.

Yelp
First time visiting. And I thoroughly loved the exhibits that they had to offer. The most important part was military were free! And they gave me a two day admission pass to check out their Randolph location! If you love art I recommend!!

Paul L.

Yelp
There are no iconic works here -- okay, the Norman Rockwell may be an exception -- in this uptown version of the Mint Museum that feels more like converted office space than galleries. There's no natural daylight so that makes for an almost somber experience. Get past much of the kitschy glass and craft works and there are some gems to be found. Yutaka Sone's 'Amusement,' a 1998 marble sculpture of a roller coaster, is a joyful display of white curves upon which the tiny cars are approaching the top ready for the exciting ride through it all. I came here, though, for the Romare Bearden works and there are a lot of them to see. I remember that, in the last years of his life, his collages achieved an almost mass market popularity. After his death, everything about the man seemed to have been put into a closet. Fortunately, he's getting renewed attention by younger artists. It's wonderful that this museum and this city celebrates the legacy of this hometown artist.

Jamie M.

Yelp
This is an art museum located in Uptown in Charlotte, NC. As with most businesses in this area, you have to pay to park, but it was just $5 for a few hours. I did think $15 was a little steep, but I did enjoy going with my sister to see the art. I am not a huge fan of more modern art so some of it was a pass for me, but I did quite enjoy most of the different pictures and paintings here. There was a good mix of different genres, along with a whole part of the museum dedicated to division. I would love to go again.

Chun P.

Yelp
I'm an annoying travel snob. I've seen world class art and masterpieces in France, Rome, Netherlands, and more. Seeing that I was in Charlotte North Carolina, I walked in with very low expectations...but in the end I left feeling enlightened and impressed. They've got a little bit of everything...classic paintings, sculptures, fashion and some weird contemporary modern art that old conservative people hate. $15 might seem like robbery for your cultureless in laws who be rather be home watching the "game", but I found it all fascinating.

Lindsay A.

Yelp
Pretty cool place and they had a good variety of exhibits. Intriguing and would recommend

Chelsea Gal P.

Yelp
My husband and I spent a few wonderful hours at the Picasso/Romare Bearden exhibit. It was not too crowded, the museum staff was efficient and pleasant.

Alexis B.

Yelp
While visiting Charlotte with my family this past weekend, we visited the Mint Museum Uptown (as well as the Mint Museum Randolph). The museum is very modern in both its architecture and its collection, and we enjoyed exploring it! They have a cafe and a gift shop, which are nice as well. One of the best museums we visited in Charlotte.

Mia G.

Yelp
Breathtaking!! Having visited various museums I had high expectations but and relieved to have been overly impressed. With a subtle lead up, the artwork become more and more intriguing... pieces with various abstract and historically inclined designs create a greater sense of the environment and our community. Would definitely recommend a visit when in the area!

Jim D.

Yelp
Art inspires life. Find your inspiration here. Can you imagine if Mint Randolph, Mint Uptown, and Bechtler (next door) were united in one architecturally magnificent building? Then Charlotte would have a five star museum, a gem that would attract lovers of art from all over the world. But alas, Charlotte has three museums that are just OK individually. So, when you pay admission here, you can visit Mint Randolph the same day or next day (see my review for that). There are fascinating things to see in both places. There is no point in discussing the special exhibitions which I saw (which were good) because other shows may be up when you visit (check their website). This is an impressive building with permanent exhibits of crafts and design and American, modern, and contemporary art. Take some time with some special works - let art take you places!

Anisha H.

Yelp
I recently visited the Mint Museum Uptown. This was my first time being here and seeing the actual artwork. My previous experience was during Allstar Week, and it was the Nike Museum. I enjoyed the artwork and the drift displays. Although I was there for a networking event, the museum allowed guests also to explore. Once a month, they open to the public for free, so there were a lot of people viewing for a Wednesday evening. So if you're looking for a great date night, night out to yourself, or a group of friends I would recommend coming here. They also have a great restaurant for dinner as well.

John H.

Yelp
Great the Mint is Uptown! Just another reason to stick around and hang out (#charlottesgotalot). Checked out the museum for free on Wednesdays 5-9pm... there is also yoga at 5:30 on Wednesdays. The building itself is immaculate... the museum store is at the ground level, but there are quite a few steps to make it to the regular entrance... there is an elevator as well. You can see a Chihuly sculpture from the street and it's even more breathtaking and beautiful close up in the lobby. They've really set up the space for events and flexible exhibits. The huge open space where yoga is held probably is their main event space and it's super dramatic with a huge view of the uptown skyline and LED billboard outside (on the Becthler). The space is flanked by escalators... so moving people in this building is super easy (there are elevators too). I did get a little apprehensive riding the elevator down and having to look down into the cavernous space below (the large windows outside don't help either since they make you feel like you are super high up). The American Art wing was super interesting... going from old to new... and I loved seeing works from Romeare Bearden displayed in a section. Overall a great outing... I thought free Wednesdays would be more crowded, but it wasn't bad at all. They also do Wine Wednesdays in the museum store... I think that had a bigger pull too. Hey, I wouldn't mind sipping and buying cool things.... lots of great present ideas here for the museum and art lovers... also lots of creative toys for the little ones too.

Lucinda L.

Yelp
I always like going to both locations of the Mint Museum. This time I headed uptown to see the exhibit: American Made: Paintings and Sculptures from the DeMell Jacobsen Collection. What a wonderful collection it is including artists John Singer Sargent and Mary Cassatt. In fact a lot female artists are represented. I definitely recommend you see this before it ends on December 24, 2022.

Donah O.

Yelp
I love this museum. One of the things that I most enjoyed was the fact that you can see art by current artists, and many local. There is a lot of variety of different artists. I just wish there was more. They do events at this museum. When I walked in they were doing crafts for children and having a drum circle. I loved the drum circle. They were teaching people how to drum. It was so lovely. They make you check your coats and large bags at the door free of charge. There is a lot to look at so be prepared to spend quite a bit of time

Tianna W.

Yelp
Very nice and clean museum! The art was lovely! My fiancé and I spent about 2 hours here, and if you don't finish all the exhibits your ticket is still valid for the next day!

Megan F.

Yelp
Excellent art museum in uptown! Whether you're into Modern art or the amazing visiting shows like the Broadway costumes or Madeleine Albright's broach collection, the Mint is fabulous for art. They also have great permanent collections and I have visited many times. Check for specials or go on Wednesday evening from 5-9 pm when it's free! (Tip--The restaurant Halcyon is phenomenal too if you go for dinner afterwards and it is in the same building!!) Parking is easy in the lot across the street or the underground deck too.

Yelp
Charlotte has tons of hidden gem events. When we arrived at the Mint for the Afro Cuban and Latin American dance night, we had no idea what to expect. I had ZERO experience with this type of my dance, and while my honey fancies himself to be a world renowned dancer, we were both captivated by the breezy and sultry body rolls, twists, and steps of the pros. This was dance class for beginners, followed by an after party for those of us who use dance as our physical expression of freedom and joy for better or worse. Entry was $12/8.50 for Mint members. I had a blast with the teachers. The group was as diverse as I've seen in Charlotte, age... race... ethnicities. Mint to Move cultural dance night is held quarterly and is a well executed program. Come around 8:30 for the real party. Bring a date. Bring a friend. Bring your dancing shoes.

Great museum with several levels of exhibits and conference spaces, and a shop. I have attended a couple of events here and really enjoy the exhibits. You can't take large bags in, so check those and validate your parking as you enter. Head up the escalator and you can enjoy wood, metal, glass, clay art pieces. Head up another level to enjoy the special exhibit that changes.

Yelp
Out of all the years I've lived in Charlotte I had never been here. When I found out the were having an Immersive Light event (Light up the Night) on Valentine's Day I decided that's where I'd take me wife. We parked across the street in a parking deck for $5 (I think the museum has a parking deck as well though). We arrived and as soon as you entered the building you could hear the DJ they had for the night. DJ Fannie Mae was awesome! Very diverse in music choice to please a crowd of mixed backgrounds. They gave us a flyer with exhibit time info at the info desk. We grabbed a cocktail first after buying a couple drink tickets. You're not allowed to bring your drink into the exhibit. We decided to have the signature raspberry cocktail with whiskey instead of vodka and for $8 it was one of the best drinks we had had all week. They also offered cupcakes, house chips and mini sliders in case you needed something to munch on. They offered glow in the dark finger painting and light wand photos for free. We really enjoyed out experience, the art, the event, the cocktails, and especially the grade school section of the museum, there were some amazing pieces in that exhibit for their age. Kids were also allowed in so it was the perfect set up for couples who didn't have a sitter but still wanted a romantic night. We ended up staying several hours and viewing several floors of exhibits (there are about 5-6 floors to explore). It was really a great time and I look forward to checking out some of their future events! https://mintmuseum.org/events/light-up-the-night-powered-by-duke-energy-piedmont-natural-gas/
