The 23 Best Things to See and Do in Hong Kong in 2025

"If I want to learn to cook local dishes I book a class with providers like The Mixing Bowl, which is recommended as a fun and affordable option for a market visit plus hands-on cooking (expect to pay around 800 HKD per person)." - Matthew Kepnes

The mixing bowl made my wedding cake. It was absolutely delicious and exactly like my Pinterest inspo. Guests were complementing the cake all night. Kaehla made a three tier cake with each tier being a different flavor. She also had GF and lactose free cupcakes for my guests with allergies; which were also delicious. We ordered a Texas Tech Football Grooms cake and it was perfect. The cake was delivered straight to my venue on time. I recommend the mixing bowl for Wedding cakes and also for a sweet treat or lunch.

Google
We've used Mixing Bowl for all of our kids' birthday cakes/cupcakes for the past 3 years and have never been disappointed. They look great and as great as they look, they taste even better. We routinely get breakfast here and everything is so fresh and delicious. Highly recommend!!

The Mixing Bowl made my wedding cake and it came out even better than I had hoped. Kaehla made the wedding cake 3 tiers (vanilla, chocolate raspberry and chocolate espresso). All of my guests loved the cake and could not say enough good things about how pretty it looked.

The Mixing Bowl has mastered the art of simplicity. We couldn't decide on breakfast or lunch so we split one of each - the breakfast burrito and the jalapeno popper burger. The burrito was served piping hot. The contents were simple but every detail was thought out. A grilled tortilla encased a saucy egg, meat, veg, and cheese mixture that dripped with a homemade chipotle mayo. You can garnish with an assortment of craft hot sauces. It is an absolute must try! The jalapeno popper burger is thin, caramelized, and everything you want from a smash patty. The flavors are beautiful, toppings fresh, and the jalapeno popper sauce is incredible but the pièce de résistance is the pillowy, soft bun holding the whole sandwich together. This is a place where affordability, creativity & quality meet. Every bite was savored and we will be back to try the rest of the menu. Not to mention, we were waited by a commendably pleasant and helpful staff.

The lemon bars and raspberry bars are incredible. Besides the bakery, they also sell breakfast sandwiches, burgers, soup/chili, and lunch sandwiches. Finding the place for the first time might prove difficult if you don't know the neighborhood. To reach it, proceed North on Knowell Road from West Genesee. After crossing the railroad tracks and Milton Ave, take the first left into a parking lot. The Mixing Bowl is to the right. UPDATE-1: The take-out quiche Lorraine was a very good breakfast. As far as the Christmas cookies go, I wasn't a fan of the frosted cookies, but I enjoyed the macaroons and thumb prints. UPDATE-2: Their fried egg, crispy bacon, and cheese breakfast sandwich on a toasted brioche roll is outstanding. It's definitely worth a stop. You won't be disappointed. UPDATE-3: Their large brownie has a crispy surface and a fudgy interior. Yum! UPDATE-4: I've been enjoying their breakfast sandwich with bacon, egg, and cheese on a regular basis, but this morning decided to try it with sausage. It's not for me. The seasoning of the sausage patty seems to be Italian rather than standard breakfast sausage. So, I'll happily stick with the crispy, tasty bacon in the future. UPDATE-5: For my first lunch here, I ordered a smashburger. Like the breakfast sandwich, the burger was excellent. UPDATE-6: Still serving great bacon egg and cheese breakfast sandwiches. UPDATE-7: In the summer, they have tables outside in the shade to enjoy your meal. Very pleasant! UPDATE-8: They no longer cook eggs to order for breakfast sandwiches. All eggs are cooked over hard. This is disappointing for those who like a little runny yolk to moisten the sandwich.

My brother took me here for breakfast today. I had the Bacon and Egg Sandwich on Brioche and it was the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had. Living and working in NYC I've tasted lots of breakfast sandwiches and this was by far the most amazing. Also had the peanut butter cookie which was tasty and delicious. The staff was super nice and friendly. The place is small but packed with some serious charm. I really wanted to taste every bake good they had on display as they all looked incredible.

My first experience with the Mixing Bowl was very pleasant. The woman running the front was kind and passionate. I ordered the special which was a brown sugar sausage sandwich. The brown sugar glaze overpowered the rest of the flavors, but it was a great flavor. The brioche bun was light and airy, it is clear their pastry recipes and baking are spot on! I just wish the flavors shared the spotlight. My blueberry scone had tart blueberries which I prefer sweeter. However the combination od the traditional dry scone with the blueberries really highlighted again how strong of a recipient they have for their bread. The scone was still flaky and delicious. The chocolate chip scone was drier as anticipated but again highlighted how great of a scone base the Mixing Bowl has. I have not yet tried my sticky bun, but given the items before it I have no doubt it is going to be spot on with the baking and dough.

Always great service and such wonderful products!! From the baked goods to the soups and breakfast sandwiches and burgers all are delicious, well made and look beautiful. My Chocolate Cream Pie for my husband's birthday.

Yelp
Take all my money! This place is such a gem! Everything I've tried here has been absolutely fresh and delicious. I love the cold brew coffee and all of the sweet and savory treats. The employees here are SO nice also, which makes me want to throw even more money at them! The sticky and cinnamon buns are divine and I buy one every time I come. Breakfast sandwiches are fresh and hot, and they have yummy spread options like maple mayo. I always get mine on a fresh baked biscuit. They had fresh baked breads like sourdough and jalapeño cheddar focaccia, and baked goods like cookies, scones, cupcakes, trifles, eclairs, and biscotti. They have rotating specials that sound amazing like tomato, spinach and mozzarella quiche (had to grab a slice.) Lots of options, super fresh, super friendly, strong coffee, I'll definitely be back!!

Yelp
I have been meaning to get here for a while as it is one of my colleagues favorite places. Since I was in the area to shop at Costco anyway, I decided to stop by to grab breakfast sandwiches to go. Their online ordering system was very easy. They are always posting yummy specials on their facebook page. I have heard about their homemade biscuits, so I decided to get my breakfast sandwich on that. It was very flaky and bigger than I expected! The sausage also tasted homemade and the chipotle mayo was chefs kiss! while the restaurant is small, it is super cute and the staff is very friendly. I definitely want to get back soon and try their homemade cinnamon buns.

Yelp
I stopped in The Mixing Bowl for some after school treats for my children. I decided to grabbed breakfast for myself. I chose their breakfast burrito and my choice of protein was sausage. Something like this is never my first choice for breakfast(not a huge breakfast person lol) but the burrito was delicious, nice crisp to the tortilla, the filling was plentiful. I was full after eating half the burrito. I also picked up a half moon cookie, death by chocolate cupcake, espresso cupcake, funfetti cupcake(not pictured because my littlest got to it). This is not our first time here, it's one of our favorite places. Below I'll highlight some other items l've tried. My go to sandwich is The Fenix: crispy pork belly, lettuce tomato onions, cheddar, chipotle mayo on house ciabatta bread. Simple yet flavorful. Tomato Bacon Jam Burger: I wanted to try something new other than my go to sandwich. Unfortunately this wasn't a favorite. This is just my preference but it was too salty for my liking. I was hoping for a balance of salty and sweet. I make my bacon jam a bit sweet. But I will try their other burger options out. Both sandwich and burger were a great size for the price. Their baked goods are always a hit with our family. We ordered a bunny cake for Easter and it was perfect for our occasion. Service is always great.

Yelp
The place is not all that cute, but my sandwich was fantastic!! I got the MJ (grilled chicken, fig jam, bacon, fresh mozzarella, and apple on a ciabatta roll.) Had a nice watermelon iced tea with it and a slice of cheesecake that was good, but seemed to be a day old. Everything looked great on the menu and all the different desserts. I absolutely know I will come back to try some more things.

Yelp
Kaehla Gardner has been baking professionally for eight years, most recently at Crazy Daisies in Onondaga Hill. She and her husband, Jon, rented the space that had previously been home to the popular Second Chance Diner. They spent a few months renovating the cozy kitchen and dining room and opened the Mixing Bowl as a bakery/café. She focuses on the baking and the front counter while Jon works the grill. Wife and I recently stopped in looking for an early lunch after a Costco trip. We'd been here before when it was the Second Chance Diner, so we knew right where it was. It's a small place, but has a decent sized parking lot and a couple booths/tables if you want to have your food there. It's been nicely redecorated inside, with all their deserts laid out behind a class case. Both Kaehla and her husband were both very nice to us, helping us through the menu and what they had to offer. My wife ordered a Cuban sandwich special and I ordered the chicken caprese sandwich. Our food took about 15 minutes or so to come out. We split half of each sandwich for each of us to try. We liked both, but bother agreed the Cuban was better. The chicken on the caprese seemed like it could've used a little more seasoning, or more balsamic to punch up the flavor. We ordered 2 deserts on the way out, a strawberry cream cheese roll and a whoopie pie. Both were good, but both were on the dry side and on the verge of too sweet for us. Pricing was comparable to other similar establishments. While nothing was bad, we didn't find anything that really blew us away food wise. Owners were extremely nice people though so we'd recommend everyone go there and give it a try.

Yelp
I LOVE this little spot. I've been three times now and every time the people and food are amazing. Will be going back again soon

Yelp
Stopped in at about noon on a Sunday. There were some patrons but no wait to order. The girl at the counter was friendly. I ordered a "Fenix" sandwich, a bottle of water, and a s'mores cinnamon roll. Took about 15 minutes to get the sandwich, but it was clearly cooked to order so that's not a bad thing. The pork belly was very crispy and had good flavor. The ciabatta roll was fresh and warm and was the standout. The rest of the sandwich was pretty dry despite having some sort of aioli. I didn't care for the raw red onions on the sandwich. The cinnamon roll I took home and that was fine. Would've been a touch better warm but no complaints really. Glad I didn't eat it in public because it was very messy. My big problem stems from the fact that above the table I was sitting at the was a large pipe. On that large pipe there were lots of droplets of condensation. These proceeded to drip down on the table and, naturally, me during the course of my visit. I'm not sure how this cool by health code standards because it easily could've dripped into my food and I have no idea what the liquid was although it did look like water. Not cool. Probably should've roped that booth off until the problem was fixed. It doesn't help that the exterior and location of the restaurant is not appealing. It's located in what appears to be a mechanic/used car sales/scrapyard parking lot attached to one of the garages- who wants to eat there? There's also outdoor seating which actually made me chuckle because I'm not sure who would love to take in that atmosphere with their meal. Honestly the food was fine, but nothing special and certainly not good enough for me to get past the water dropping from the ceiling into the table. I would not recommend.

Yelp
Another great visit to The Mixing Bowl. Order at the counter and wait for your food. Service was friendly and fast when I was there today. I'm so happy they've gone from serving a handful of items to 3 menu boards full of choices. Today was Spicy chicken and corn Chowder, not very spicy but I have no complaints because it was full of flavor. Then tea and an amazing caramel oat bar.

Yelp
The service here was fantastic, they were so kind and even though it was busy they were very attentive! The food here was also delicious so many options and baked goods were soooo good! I highly recommend their peanut butter cookies!!

Yelp
Been meaning to get here for a while and finally made it. I went around opening on the weekday and there were a few other folks popping in and out, but not busy. The owners seemed super friendly. I went with a build your own breakfast sandwich, on a brioche bun. The bread was super soft and the egg was fried. It was tasty, though my breakfast sandwich tastes tend to skew towards scrambled or runny yolks on croissants so don't know that it would be my first choice, but it was still tasty. The star of the show was the cinnamon bun which was served still warm, which seems to be the norm. There's buzz about these babies for a reason. Perfect fluffiness and pull-apartness, the ideal amount of frosting, and of course, perfectly warm and comforting on a winter morning (or any morning.) Definitely make sure to get here early enough to get one of these beauties fresh out of the oven! PS-- This place has perfect natural lighting for food photos. :D

Yelp
The Mixing Bowl has the best baked goods in CNY! Lemon Bar. If you like lemon, you will love this dessert. This is the absolute best lemon curd I've ever had. Lemon Blueberry Cake. This is my favorite dessert that they have. The cake is moist and the flavors are incredible. It appears heavy but is actually very light. So good! Blueberry Scone. Simple, flaky, and delicious. It's great with your morning coffee. Cinnamon Roll. Better than any other I've had. The frosting is not overly sweet and compliments the roll perfectly. Chocolate Chip Cookie. I love a good cookie. It's amazing how many places can't do a basic chocolate chip cookie well. This one lands in my top 3 easily! Cute little place and the staff/owners are amazing!

Yelp
1st of all, before you even get inside, you can smell the baked goods and food outside. It is intoxicating! I knew that the pecan sticky buns are only made on weekends, so I went on a Saturday morning specifically for that. The girl who was serving us was so friendly and helpful, she graciously gave us some extra topping for our sticky buns even though we didn't ask for it. What a bonus!!! The entire establishment is very clean. All the staff are friendly and willing to give their suggestions of the foods and pastries they love (which is so helpful). I have to say, that as a woman, I was incredibly impressed with the bathroom cleanliness and the generosity of the owners (free tampons in the bathroom). It's rare to see this kind of thoughtfulness in businesses nowadays. I tip my hat to the owner for the positive action of making sure the female staff and patrons are taken care of if they need it. I have been here twice and everything, literally everything, was divine. My advice: go!! Eat!! Enjoy!!

Yelp
This is a cute little place that has outdoor and indoor seating. Their menu is phenomenal! Breakfast and lunch all day. And Tons of specialty teas and coffees. The glass cabinet is loaded with gorgeous cookies, pastries, pies, I could go on and on. I had a blueberry scone which was light and delicious. Not too dry. I'll DEFINITELY be going back to try other things on the menu!

Yelp
Best smash burgers I've had in upstate ny ! Can't wait to try some more items there I also loved the convenience of being able to call and place an order with a person instead of only having to use a food service app

Yelp
I try to stop here whenever I'm in the area. I just love the vibe and the owners. I went for lunch last Saturday with my sister. I had the patty melt which was delicious!! A cup of coffee and we split a cinnamon bun. The pecan sticky bun was fresh and amazing!!! I'm always happy when I have lunch here. My sister enjoyed her lunch also which was a grilled cheese on sourdough bread.

Yelp
A bakery and breakfast/lunch shop with some seating indoors. I did the BYO breakfast sandwich. Prob the only place around here you can get pork belly on a breakfast sandwich. It was very good. My only note is that I wish the pork belly was a bit more tender and less fried. Regardless, I would get it again. The lemon bar was delish, tangy with a thick, buttery crust. Cinnamon roll was also amazing after being heated in microwave for 20 sec. Not dry at all. The raspberry swirled brownie initially had me hemming and hawing but as the flavors developed more I enjoyed it. Also, very moist and almost a creamy texture. Staff are friendly!

Yelp
Ever since coming to Camillus I wanted to try this place out. With my parents visiting, we had it three days in a row, so I think this is a rather extensive review. First of all, the place is easy to miss, you could drive right past it and not know what it is/if it's open (please get a bigger OPEN sign). I'm so glad we finally stopped in here though. It's so cute on the inside. A great place to not only grab some pastries and coffee to go, but to also get breakfast and lunch and sit down if you have time. I talked with the owners husband who told me that everything is made from scratch, including the buns they use for their burgers and the bread used in their sandwiches. Everything they use is sourced locally as well (nice). One thing that really stood out to me is how passionate the owners are about what they're doing there. They really enjoy what they do and strive to get better each time. It's apparent in a lot of the pictures I saw of this place, which is what really drove me to stop by and I'm so glad I did - I'm going to be a regular here. I'll start off with the hot food. My husband and I each had our own breakfast quesadilla. They took their time making them and it came out terrific. The sauce that came with it is a real nice touch. This reminds me of the kind of breakfast we'd have in Texas. Loved it and will get it again. I also want to explore the rest of the menu - chicken sandwiches, burgers, and the owners husband told me about pork belly that he makes, which usually sells out fast. I'll be keeping any eye out for it. Now for the pastries: Oatmeal Raisin Cookie - Perfect. Soft and chewy, great texture. They nailed a classic. Chocolate Chip Cookie - Excellent. Great layers of texture between the dough and chips, buttery and chocolatey. So good. Brownie - Decadent. I mean this in the best way possible, it reminded me of the box mix brownie that we all grew up on, yet it was all grown-up. Nailed it. Pumpkin/Pecan Sticky Bun - We grabbed this while still hot. It was great - if you don't like this you need to get your mouth checked because something is wrong with you. Scones - We had both the blueberry and chocolate variety. My parents loved the blueberry and didn't get to try the chocolate. I elected to get the chocolate, which I think are excellent on a cold day with a hot cup of coffee, which they source from the local Salt City Coffee. Cannoli - I loved the cream and chocolate chip. The shell had good flavor, but wasn't as hard as a traditional cannoli's. I missed that crunch as I bit into it, but it wasn't soggy as if it had been left out. It just had more of a crumble than a crunch. Overall, still a very good pastry. White Bread - My father took home a loaf and reiterated the entire weekend how good it's going to be when he makes French Toast with it. My parents also took home with them a caramel apple pastry, a lemon bar, and a pecan-pie bar. I haven't heard from them yet on how they were, but visually, they looked great. If you're in the area, check this place out. It's a great addition to Camillus. I'll def. be back.

Yelp
Been going here 1-2x A WEEK for 6 MONTHS HERE'S MY REVIEW SO YOU DON'T NEED TO READ ANYTHING ELSE My brother and I work in the cafe booth section early am to trade the market. This is a gem in Camillus with a routine of bringing new breakfast, lunch and dessert specials every week. Food is amazing, I don't know a better burger spot in CNY let alone NY period. Jon the owner is sweet, generous with the portion sizes, and a master at his craft. He had made thanksgiving and Christmas specials that made me slap my brother at how good they are. You cannot go wrong with anything on the food menu, it has the home cooked, family loving, well seasoned and flavored taste you can only get from someone who knows and loves food. Jon has taken the time to serve us with a smile every time, he works hard and brings something new regularly. Kaehla has a true passion for baking and desserts are definitely a specialty here. Week after week I would be too scared to try anything else besides the pecan pie bar, until finding out every dessert option is just as good. She had us on more occasions than I can count... shocked at how delicious cupcakes, cakes, bars, cookies, sponge cakes, brownies and more can be. Just the right amount of sweetness, and GF options too. Everyone I have brought sweets from the mixing bowl has hounded me for the location and recipe, I say go to Kaehla at MB! Ambiance is quiet and calm for a nice early am pick me up or a cool brunch afternoon. Coffee, hot chocolate, teas and more available at the ready as you wait. And Olivia and Rosie are stellar at giving you hospitality and making you feel welcome to the family. I associate Syracuse with the Mixing Bowl and if you have not tried this diamond of a place, then you're missing out

Yelp
Stopped on ac Sunday afternoon for breakfast like food. I ordered a bacon egg n cheese breakfast sandwich on an all seed sour dough roll n a coffee. The service was very good n they had real 1/2 n 1/2 for my coffee which made me happy. They even made a fresh coffee forr me. Normally it would've been good but the breakfast sandwich came out a little too fast for me. The bacon was cooked good but when I tried to cut it in half I could tell it was microwaved n way too much! The egg was cooked hard like I expected being a breakfast sandwich but the whole thing tasted premade n reheated. Desserts looked good but I wanted food so I skipped it. If you're a small operation n not a fast food place I expect a little more time put in. Other than that the place was very small n seemed clean. The desserts looked very good though so maybe one day I'll check them out again.

Adeline Y.

Yelp
One star for the coffee, which was great Ordered the breakfast sandwich. Biscuit: dry, stale, and tough Sausage & egg: the primary flavor was salt with a side of pepper. Fried egg had decent texture - still tasted like salt though.

Yelp
This place is very cute and in the old location of second chance. Stopped in to try a breakfast sandwich and some sweets. The breakfast sandwich I got was bacon, egg, and cheese on a biscuit. It was huge and very greasy which is not really my cup of tea but it was good. Will def try on a different bread next time. I got the pumpkin cupcake, chocolate chip cookie, sugar cookie, and pea am bar. My husband said the pumpkin cupcake was good but had a flavor in it that was slightly different and he couldn't place it. My five year old loved both the sugar cookie and chocolate chip cookie. I had the pecan bar and it was amazing!!!! Def give this place a try if you are in the area

Yelp
This place is really cute and cozy, I absolutely want to come back here. The people behind the counter were quick to greet me and very kind. I got the cinnamon roll which was warm!! and delicious, the outer roll was crisp and soft on the inside. Not too much frosting and perfectly sweet! Perfect place to fuel up before your costco trip

Yelp
I love this place and we come here almost every week! It's a great bakery, but it's also a great food place with amazing breakfast foods, burgers (including a special veggie burger made in-house), and other delectable snacks. I especially recommend the cinnamon sugar cashews, the pecan rolls, the egg scramble, and the Obie sandwich. The staff is very friendly, and I can tell that the owners really care about what they do.

George M.

Yelp
Had the pecan sticky buns. Was very good. Nice quaint little bakery. Will be back for sure.

Yelp
This little place isn't much to the eye, but there is seriously something for everyone inside. They are a take out option at the moment, but do have a few tables available to have you eat at if you wanted. There are savory and sweet options, hard to pick just one or two. She makes different baked goods daily and even has some seasonal options. I have to say the cream puff was the best I've ever had, very light and fluffy with actual cream that was light and had the best vanilla flavor. Cinnamon buns were fantastic- she had a regular one and pumpkin, I had the pumpkin and it was great. I also had the maple bourbon pork belly breakfast with the biscuit and an egg. That was delicious, I'm not a huge fan of biscuits, but I bet it would have been better for me with cheddar cheese on it. But I would still 100% get it again. I also had the breakfast burrito- amazing! Great flavor- I was told they use a local vendor for their sausage which is a huge plus and it was delicious. I also had the soup of the day which was a buffalo chicken, phenomenal- hearty but still had enough broth. I will definitely be going back.

Mark G.

Yelp
Despite it being somewhat out of the way the Mixing Bowl is a very worthwhile destination. We went there today and were very impressed by the selection of both sweets and eats and the quality of all that we tasted. My wife ordered the Pecan Roll which she loved, the pecans were plentiful and a welcome addition. I ordered the breakfast burrito with sausage. It was made from scratch , very fresh and had a bit of a kick to it . I was very impressed. We took home two blueberry scones and two cupcakes , all of which looked wonderful, but that's for tomorrow. Can't wait for that, definitely going back.

Sue P.

Yelp
Baked goods are delicious, love that they are not too sugary. We enjoyed a brownie, it was very fudgie, a cinnamon roll, peanut butter pie and blueberry lemon cake. All very good. We'll be back soon!

Maryanne D.

Yelp
The Mixing Bowl hosted the Greater Camillus Chamber of Commerce for a breakfast networking event. They were fantastic! Kaehla was so easy to work with as we figured out what's best breakfast plans for a large group who have to eat and network. She and Jon are so flexible. We had abt 30 guests attend this event and reviews were great from our guests. I highly recommend The Mixing Bowl!

Jessica W.

Yelp
I purchased a chocolate cream & pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving dinner, both were superb. The crusts are homemade with flavor, the pumpkin was just the right amount of spice with a light cream topping. The chocolate pie was a perfect milk chocolate, not overly sweet as well as the whip topping being just the right amount of sweet. I am so pleased to have a Bakery close to home with truly great deserts.

Marc E.

Yelp
The best Bacon Egg and Cheese on a roll in New York State. Perfect hard fried egg with the right amount of bacon and topped with American cheese that melts on the eggs and bacon. Have it on a Brioche Roll ! You will be one happy camper. If you have room get a cinnamon bun for dessert.
