We stopped here on our long drive to Kamloops. It was the perfect place! Excellent service, the carrot cake was soft and tasty, our mocha was fantastic (perfect amount of chocolate and temperature). The owner came and spoke to us. Very reasonable price and glad we stopped here. Thank you! Forgot to take a photo before taking a bite. Whoops!

Google
Food was fantastic, I had a sausage roll, a scone, a large white choclate mocha and a Nanimo bar. The Nanimo bar was the best I have eaten over the lasr 40 years. The service was very friendly and very attentive. I truly felt special. If you are in need of great food, fantastic service and out of this world atmosphere you need to pay them a visit.

Google
I had one of the best pies 🥧 can you believe it?!!! MUST HAVE IS THE AUSSIE MEAT 🥩 PIE! Absolutely 10/10 - but let’s talk about the place, cozy and great vibe. Food is amazing we had the Farm Daughter Breakfast sandwich that’s also fresh and delicious 😋 and scones and brownies and SO MUCH PIES. 🥧 you have to have the AUSSIE PIE. The people are great and friendly! Place is really well kept and I would recommend coming back here!

I grew up in Revelstoke and worked at The Modern 8 years ago and recently visited to try all my favorite treats that I grew up on and they just aren't comparable now, the icing is so much less and the cakes aren't the same as they were. Heres a picture of what the carrot cake was previously and what it looks like now and its just not the same. The breakfast was delicious and the drink I had was good but I was very disappointed in my favorite baked goods being so drastically different.

Google
Amazing! I would definitely come here again ! It was so cute inside with all the artwork! The common bun was amazing and the avocado toast was the best I have ever had.

Google
You got to stop by this bakery if in Revy. The baked goods are so fresh and made with very good quality ingredients. The service is super friendly, and the coffee was amazing. Patio seating is available.

Google
We just made it to this cafe…apparently the majority of places close around 2pm, but this cafe was open until 3pm, and they had just what we needed. It was chilly that day, and we got a warm lemon ginger drink that was great to carry around with us, as we explored downtown Revelstoke. We also got a little energy bomb, and it was better than expected. I understand why this place was one of the top rated places to visit.

Google
A huge pistachio sticky bun which was light and flaky in full of sugar as you'd expect. Haven't had a chance to eat the carrot cake yet. It too was large. Pleasant eating outside looking over the mountains around revelstoke. The restaurant is a house that was apparently moved here.

Yelp
Stopped for a treat while visiting Revelstoke. I had the most delicious treat in their Nanaimo Bar. That rich chocolate topping a creamy layer was so good. I wanted to go back for another!

Michelle R.

Yelp
It's a nice and cute coffee shop in Revelstoke downtown. I usually go for a coffee and a pastry. The staff is always polite and friendly. The pastries menu is diverse and prices are good. The last time I went I got a Cappuccino and A Carrot cake. It was pretty good.

Jeff P.

Yelp
Quality is poor now. Foods microwaved and pre made. Coffee was ok, but there's much better options in town. Skip this one.

Rose I.

Yelp
Overall, a very cute coffeeshop with food. They have a lot of baked goods and sandwich options. A few tables to sit both inside and outside. I ordered an iced chai latte but they only use cow's milk in it so I got an iced vanilla latte instead with oat milk. I also got a brownie ball called w Love Bomb. Both items tasted good. I just removed one star because they were unable to do a chai with non-dairy milk. I would visit again and try something different if I was visiting longer. Thanks!

Yelp
Grabbed our breakfast from here before we hit the road again. Had their sausage roll. The pastry is amazing and the sausage was delicious. Great place to pop in. Also tried their Reese bar. Omg! I should have bought all of them. Amazing baked goods.

Yelp
Located in the heritage district of Revelstoke is this quaint bakery/cafe. Established in 2005, the modern bakeshop and cafe can seat 60+ patrons even though it looks like it can only hold 30. The seating outside is a beautiful way to take in the surroundings while enjoying their goods. Their quiche, salad, sandwiches and soups were all fabulous! We even squeezed in bites of the bumble berry crumble bar for dessert! I say, it is pretty impressive to find a gem like this place in a city that has under 15000 people. Next time while driving to or through Revelstoke, this again, will be one of my first stops!

Yelp
Selection: Good. Typical bakery fare, sausage rolls, meat pies, Nanaimo bars, samosas, soup-of-the-day, boutique beverage selection. Food Quality: Okay. Meat pie was a little salty for my taste, Nanaimo bar was more cane sugar than chocolate (certainly the lowest quality Nanaimo bar I have ever consumed). Most food items are pre-made and on display behind glass. Value: Priced at the high end of the Revelstoke spectrum to be sure Service: This gang struggles if more the three people walk thru the front door. Be prepared to wait 15 minutes for them to reheat your (pre-made) selections from the display case. The number of people behind the counter explains the food cost, and creates congestion that delays order prep. Solution to both problems is rather obvious. Also, for the prices charged I expect real chocolate on the Nanaimo bar and "jump-to-the-pump" service delivery.

Yelp
We were there @ Revelstoke, BC for our breakfast and stop-by from long drive ( Banff). I can smell the baking goods from outside cafe. So, we went there , fully joy and excitement. I was NOT disappointed. We ordered cinnamon bun ( the best!! ‍), chicken pot/pie, red pepper quiche, and croquet monsieur. They were delicious The coffee was very good ( i ordered black). Too bad I didn't order the beans so I can make it at my home oh well, next time.... They have sandwiches, soup, and pastas. I didn't taste them but maybe I will... next time ‍ Tip: street parking

Yelp
Sausage roll, vegetarian roll and coffee's were delicious. Service was great also. We highly recommend and can't wait to come back.

Jen B.

Yelp
Cute cafe with great baked goods and specialty coffees. A comfy place to hang out and enjoy the morning.

Yelp
This place is a true hidden gem! We stopped here on our way to Kelowna. We had a big group that ordered various pastries and drinks and everyone was pleased with their order. Service was fast and sweet. Their carrot cake was the best I've ever had, in life! My brother also said their rye bread was amazing. Last but not least, they had plenty of gluten free and vegan options. I'll definitely be coming back here on our next road trip! P.S. For parents looking, they have a change table in their bathrooms! This might sound like a silly tip but I always appreciate when an establishment caters to families, especially unexpected places like quaint little bakeries/cafes.

Kim N.

Yelp
Wasn't expecting to find a great coffee place in Revelstoke but this charming cafe had a variety of baked goods. I had the lemon cheesecake which was delicious and the bf had the plum and ginger muffin which he devoured pretty quickly ;) My bf liked his coffee and my foggy London was made perfectly. Definitely recommended!

Yelp
The carrot cake alone makes this review 5 stars. Ok, and the Callebaut brownie. Oh, and the date turnover. Yeah, I ordered just a few items. Pretty sure I have a sugar addiction. Anyway, I was driving through Revelstoke and had picked this place for lunch and snacks based on Yelp reviews. I love a good little local bakery, plus they have an outdoor patio where I could bring my dog. The smell inside is heavenly - fresh baked breads and desserts line the shelves, and they have a large hot food selection. I was just getting a snack so I got the grilled cheese sandwich so I could eat on the go. Fresh baked bread made it so good and the cheese was nice and melty. But the best stuff was the sweets. The carrot cake is enormous! It had just the right amount of cream cheese icing (I like a lot), and I liked that they used cranberries instead of raisins. It was dense and flavorful. The brownie looked so unassuming I'm not even sure why I got it. But then I tried it and it was heavenly. It was very creamy, so I put it in the freezer and that made it even better - it got all chewy (but still soft) and I swear freezing it heightened the flavor. I stopped here again on my way home and bought the last date turnover (tons of orange-flavored date filling inside an oat-based popover) and two brownies so I could cut them into little pieces and freeze it at home. Which I did. And then kept returning to the freezer to eat the little cubes I had cut until there was nothing left after only 24 hours in my possession. Poor little brownies didn't stand a chance.

Yelp
One of the best chicken pot pies I have ever eaten. We got the chicken veggie pot pie and the Eurowest burrito - nice filling breakfast.

Yelp
We drive from Vancouver to Calgary a lot, and very rarely stop in Revelstoke (when we have, it was at the Subway on the highway). This time, the trip was Kamloops to Calgary, and Revelstoke became a logical place to stop for lunch. I fired up Yelp and found Modern Bakeshop: Six of eight reviews were five stars. The first review I read told me they have the best hot chocolate out there. This place is buried downtown, and I *never* would have found it without Yelpers. And that would have been a shame. I imagine it gets very busy here, but for the most part the seating seemed adequate. (I think there was even more seating downstairs, though I never looked.) Our food came fairly quickly: we had the Vietnamese sub, the Briellini panini (I think -- it had turkey and Brie on it), a hot chocolate, and a hazelnut latte. The sub was as expected; not great, but good. The panini was fantastic -- nice flavour, didn't fall apart, and the bread wasn't overdone like many paninis tend to be. The hot chocolate was fantastic, with chocolate bits, creamy foam, and chocolate whipped cream. Like Mulberry suggested, it really was the best hot chocolate of my life. The hazelnut latte was good -- a bit more foam would have been nice, but it tasted good. This is what towns and cities need: places that make people stop. As I said, I never stopped in Revelstoke. From now on, I will every time, and it's to go to Modern.

Yelp
We went here for breakfast twice during out stay in Revelstoke. A great selection of baked goods, breakfast items (like oatmeal and breakfast burritos) as well as coffee and teas. Reasonable prices and super friendly staff.

Yung P.

Yelp
ummmmmmmmmmmm excuse me but is this place heaven???????? Ordered a cappuccino (of course) and it was so frickety fracking amazing and they gave me this tiny cute azz lil biscotti with it that was just the cherry on top. Not to mention the view was amazing, the workers were so friendly, and the FOOD!!!!!!! Don't even get me started cuz I won't stop. Everything was sosososososo güd!!!!!!! Just go here u won't regret it

Jamie W.

Yelp
Great spot! Nice chill vibe, easy going but professional staff...the food was delicious and reasonably priced for what it was. You could tell a lot of care gors into what they do!

Heather W.

Yelp
I had bookmarked this coffee shop a while back but didn't have time to stop on my way through so was very excited to get to go this time. This is probably my favourite coffee shop out of the ones I've been to in Revelstoke. It's a bit noisy though, because it is so busy all the time. The inside has lots of space and nooks for sitting too, and we were there on a rainy day so it was packed! I had a plain latte and was very happy with the quality that it was made with. My friend had the mod chai and was raving about it for days! We each had a little bakery item too, and our only thought was that so many items contained chocolate it would have been nice to have options with no chocolate. I would totally go back to this place, there are tons of delicious looking items and drinks still to try!

Paul D.

Yelp
Long time fan of the Modern Bakery, however I was disappointed during my most recent visit. The soup was good but the coffee was horrible. Not sure what happened with this brew but it seemed burnt. I also found blue ink in the bottom of my water cup, which I suspect had been used as a pen holder. Staff was not able to offer an apology or explanation. Please try a little harder Modern, you're better then this.

Lloyd M.

Yelp
The cinnamon bread stick is delicious Lots of cinnamon sugar and icing. It's A repeat visit for sure when returning from Vernon

Laura P.

Yelp
My husband and I often go to the modem bakery as we pass through Revelstoke and have always enjoyed going and always recommend it to our family and friends. If you've never been expect it to be busy, but worth it; in most cases. Today however was not the best experience. We poured our 4 year old a cup of water and used one of the cups at the cafe. After a few sips my husband noticed that there was ink inside the bottom of the cup. It looked as though the cup had been used as a pen holder at one time. When my husband brought it up to the staff no apologies were made nor were there any attempts to rectify the situation. Overall good food but I would expect better customer service.

Mulberry S.

Yelp
I think I just had the best hot chocolate of my life. No joke, this place is awesome. I watched as it was made from those little chocolate bits that the professional bakers use, and then it showed up with a creamy/frothy head like a mousse, with shavings for an over-the-top experience. Excellent baked goods too. In the heart of downtown Revelstoke, it also was a great way to warm up while watching the rail and air jam. I mentioned the divine cup of choc to a few locals I'm staying with and they responded with that "aaah, uh, the word is out" mixed blessing of having a great place be discovered by a tourist like me. Haha! All your hot chocolate is mine. They say sandwiches are the bomb.

Kris L.

Yelp
Excellent gluten free peanut butter oat bar - not too sweet and had a dark chocolate layer. Also ordered the gluten free espresso chocolate energy bar for later hiking trip - very good and filling. My husband tried the reeses bar and he really enjoyed it. Also excellent coffee plus great selection of all types of treats including some some dairy free, plus lunch items and quiche.

Richard V.

Yelp
Great variety of bakery, breakfast, and lunch items that all are delicious. Nice vegetarian options as well. Service was quick and friendly. Will return again soon.

Ben G.

Yelp
Most important, this place has 49th Parallel coffee. This means they have a reliable, clean, High quality coffee from a reputable Vancouver coffee roaster. They have the espresso, the medium roast, and their own dark roast. There are lots of options for things to eat, treats, and lots of gluten. This might not be the best place for a celiac, but the rest of us can find plenty of choices to fuel up before hitting the slopes.

Shannon F.

Yelp
Do yourself a favour when driving through Revelstoke: pass up the chain restaurants on the highway and swing into charming downtown for a real coffee and a delicious baked good. Be warned that this place is crazy busy, a testament to the deliciousness of everything, and you may have to wait in an out-the-door lineup, but the wait is worth it and gives you a decent break from driving. The menu ranges from the usual muffins, scones, and cookies to salad bowls, wraps, paninis, and sausage rolls. Also smoothies. Indoor and outdoor seating. Bathrooms available for customer use.

Michael L.

Yelp
Great little bakery. Lots of options. Reasonably priced. We always stop here enroute between Vancouver and Calgary

Kathleen C.

Yelp
Fresh baked goods and yummy coffee!! The bread here was amazing! Get there early to get your fresh baked loaf!

Bradley F.

Yelp
A must stop before doing anything... skiing, not skiing, hiking, hanging out - whatever you're doing in Revelstoke. High quality coffee and goods made by people who care (you can taste it) An asset to Revelstoke.

Natalie S.

Yelp
The coffee was without a doubt the best coffee I've ever had. I ordered a cappuccino and was blown away at the first sip. The atmosphere had a nice buzz to it, I would have loved to have sat down and stayed to enjoy my drink. I didn't purchase anything to eat, but everything in their pastry case looked AMAZING! It was hard to say no to the sweet treats with the delicious temptation staring back at you. I wish there was a Modern Bakeshop in my home town because I would frequent it daily. Thank you :)

Martha P.

Yelp
This place is wonderful! Great lattes and capis ( A little bite-size biscotti that accompanied them was a nice touch). Baked goods rock and the dessert selection looks phenomenal.

Flo W.

Yelp
Great place for good coffee and baked goods. Ordered the Ella cake which is their signature cake - really moist and delicious chocolate cake. Stopped here 3 times on a 2 day visit and there was always a line at least 3 deep. Had the decaf Americano and it was strong and hot. Cute digs and decor. Prices for their speciality drinks are about $5. Happy customers all around. They have a couple of days out on the boulevard for those sunny crisp days in Revelstoke. Will definitely return! Had to downgrade the rating a bit as I ordered the breakfast panini and although it is quite delicious, it was served half way warm... more on the cold side. I prefer my breakfast sandwich hot all the way through. The breakfast panini has egg, cheese, bacon, pesto spread and tomato between two generous pieces of focaccia bread.

Tracey B.

Yelp
Yummy treats for your ride! I drink coffee or eat bread but I hear it's good. I like the salad. The patio is great, right on the main patio area.

Paprika R.

Yelp
This place is amazing! So much to choose from, so many options for vegitarians and some for vegans. And all soo full of goodness. We Got hearthy soup , fruit crisp, a protein pumped bar , daughters veggie burger, and peach crumble. All was really good! And my man is very picky , him saying "it was a good sandwich" is a real thing. Great hard workers in here too! I'm coming here for dinner before we leave BC. Thanks!

Elaine T.

Yelp
Great food, coffee, and desserts. Grilled veggie wrap with hummus, goat cheese, avocado, and veggies in side..yummy. The roasted tomato soup had big croutons inside , again both hearty and tasty, perfect on a cold winter day. The carrot cake was excellent ..with each bite you taste just the right amount of nuts, spices, coconut, dried fruit and perfect cream cheese frosting:)

Air S.

Yelp
Pretty cafe with good drink. I didn't try the food and bakery but they all looked great.

Paul B.

Yelp
The Maple Latte is excellent. The environment is friendly and warm, although there isn't a huge amount of seating. This place seems to be pretty popular so expect it to be busy. If you're looking for gluten free they have several good options for meals, pastries and baked goods.

Krista-Dawn K.

Yelp
This place is awesome, on so many levels. Their coffee was fantastic and reasonably priced. The place is cute, full of light. We stopped in on our way home to Vancouver and I left my wallet on the sugar counter. They mailed it back to me the next day, with nothing missing. Please give these kind hearted people your business. Great people with a great product are getting rare these days!

Karilyn K.

Yelp
The Modern is a good little hangout joint - you can't go in there without saying hi to countless people you know. The coffee is just ok. The lattes and cappuccinos are generally burned and bitter, so ask for it not so hot. The sweet treats are fantastic - the butter tarts are gooey and delicious, the lemon squares are super tangy, and the "love bombs" are great as well. They have a daily lunch special that's generally always quite good, and they've got good breakfast burritos. If you go early enough, they've got half-price goodies from the day before that are great. It's a great place to people watch, who doesn't love supporting a sweet local business?

Shaheen C.

Yelp
What a wonderful off the beaten path cafe in Revelstoke! Great food (using local ingredients), excellent pastries and coffee. It's a great place to eat if you are in a hurry. You can avoid the crowds at fast food places that tend to get very busy over the weekends. I come here everytime I am in Revelstoke. And I am always impressed. Great place for families with kids.

Tara C.

Yelp
Beautiful and delicious freshly baked goodies. A must when in Revelstoke !

Dominique W.

Yelp
One of my favorite cafes, definitely my favorite in BC so far. I judge all other cafes in N. America against this one. The bread, coffee, pastries, sandwiches, pretty much everything I've had here has been quite good. The atmosphere is also incredibly pleasing to me, and if you live in Revelstoke for any length of time, you're sure to run into someone you know while you're in here. Every time I come back to revy, I make it a point to stop by here for a coffee or smoothie. If this place was on main st in Vancouver there would be a line out the door all day.

Ailin K.

Yelp
we grabbed the Brazilian Chicken sandwich for to-go for our lunch later. Standing in line looking at the pastries made us wish we had breakfast here too! Ended up eating the sandwich later in the afternoon by Moraine Lake. The sandwich was light and delicious. Not too much seasoning, just enough to bring out the flavour. We weren't sure exactly what made the sandwich "Brazilian" but as long as it taste good, that's all it mattered. I must say I have enjoyed all the meals at Revelstoke, purely because this town really knows how to season their food to perfection without overwhelming your tastebuds. Another great place to check out if you are ever in Revelstoke.

Sarah W.

Yelp
An adorable hippy cafe in Revelstoke. The place was jam-packed at lunch hour when I went with a friend. I had a chai tea latte with an extra shot of espresso, and it was delicious. We split some baked cookies which were also very tasty. The place prides itself on using mugs and not wasting with paper cups. The place is very kid-friendly as well - tons of little guys while we were there. Don't expect a quiet coffee date here.

Robert T.

Yelp
We ate here twice while we were skiing in Revelstoke. The bread on my panini was amazing and fresh baked and the tea was wicked good too. Great place to kick off a day of skiing.

Piper F.

Yelp
Charming - Adorable - Warm - Eclectic bakery and coffee shop. Extensive options for the vegan and gluten freer in your group. Excellent latte and too many delicious treats to only choose just one. Yummy.

Jacob V.

Yelp
Good place to stop if you past by Revelstoke or you are there for a ski trip. Fleshly baked pastries are delicious. Great and cosy atmosphere. The only downside would be the espresso.... I mean it is good coffee but I would expect a bit more quality for a lovely place like this one. Enjoy and relax!

John L.

Yelp
Prefect coffee experience. Great espresso and the best butter tart I've ever sunk my teeth into.
