THE MODERNIST FARO

We had such lovely stay! Highly recommend if you stay in Faro. It’s great location in a very lively neighborhood. The interior in 3B was so stylish and modern. We had a stunning view from the big terrace and check-in/check-out as well as the overall communication with Angie & Chris was 10/10. Complementary beer included. ;) Thank you!

We stayed to see how Such interior design would hold up with a regular family’s mess, but i do think the magic of this place is its location. I highly recommend this place if you don’t/cant drive. Being so aesthetic, all they’re missing are international plugs. Amenities (towels, decent toiletries), water (heated, drinking), BOOKS are great! Spotless Apartment. Bed is a little soft but all good. This place is fairly priced for what it offers - a clean modern way to explore Faro before it gets crowded from late morning. Yet there are things that seriously work against it: - cobblestone streets - very easy walk from train station, but good heavens the wheels, my poor luggage. Our 5 min walk took twice as long 👹👹👹👹 and we actually decided not to rent a car and are visiting faro BECAUSE of this property and one reviewer who said you can’t drive here….. - location: we arrived after 27 hours of intl travel to a… municipal rally that must’ve ended at midnight, and from like 3-5AM there were people shouting loudly downstairs. I could sleep my one night here as I was exhausted but I couldn’t do this again. I was really angry last night as I drifted in and out of slumber to the sound of people shouting. The hosts can’t help this - And well there’s a Thai massage banner outside the 1B apartment window that just takes you right back to the dusty streets of Phuket. But I guess it was all fine after I woke up and realized we forgot to bring swimwear and towels and found multiple shops within a 5 min walk. That’s a win.

Nice apartment well placed for the pedestrian area and the old town Nicely appointed and furnished. Heavy curtain to keep light out in front of the bed. Nice roof terrace. There is a nice café diagonally opposite the apartment. There is a balcony where you can sit and watch the world go by. As others have mentioned this apartment in on a busy thoroughfare so in the day there is a fair amount of street noise but it seems ok at night.

I spent almost four weeks in Faro at The Modernist in Apartment 3A. First of all, the more than positive contact with the hosts should be emphasized. Whether in advance for questions, for tips on excursions and good restaurants, at the welcome, in the organization of the check-in etc. . The apartment more than spacious, equipped with everything lovingly and exactly the descriptions and pictures. The roof terrace, the garden, the private balcony - simply a wonderful, only recommended stay. For architecture lovers a plus in beauty. You are in the middle of the city, in the Mediterranean life. Everything within walking distance. Nearby are the bus and train station, the ferries to the islands. I will definitely come back and am grateful that there is this beautiful place.

Staying at the Modernist in Faro was truly a unique experience. The building and apartments have been renovated in a very elegant and comfortable way. All the furniture and decoration were sourced locally, showcasing the best of what the Portugal has to offer in terms of design and crafts. The bed was super comfortable, the apartment extremely clean and calm. We very much enjoyed the bedroom view on the patio and the terrace overlooking the Faro Marina, as well as the rooftop ! The location was also great - right on the center of Faro, a few steps away from the Marina and restaurants and cafés. The hosts are absolutely lovely. They are genuinely passionate about the region and its architectural heritage. They made themselves always available, and thanks to the city guides they leave in the apartments, you will have plenty of recommendations for places to see and to eat in Faro and its surroundings. We also very much appreciated their little attentions upon our arrival. All in all we had a wonderful and will definitely come back and recommend it around us !

Perfectly situated apartment, one minute from marina and close to many restaurants and bars. Very close to old town too.|Apartment is immaculately clean and well fitted out. It overlooks the pedestrianised street on one side which is fascinating and it’s lovely to hear the street music coming up. |It could be considered a little noisy if you only need silence at all times.|There is some noise at night but close the windows and you don’t hear anything. ||Really enjoyed the stay and would definitely stay again

Pick one hotel in the heart of Faro for a fabulous stay? The Modernist is my top pick. Perfectly fit for travellers with a fondness for modern architecture, and honestly, a very cool place that all will enjoy. Relaxed atmosphere, well appointed, friendly and proactive hosts (with excellent restaurant recommendations), comfortable beds, balcony and private garden oasis, all steps from the harbour. Felt right at home!

I stayed at The Modernist during Faro’s Modernist Weekend, a wonderful initiative of The Modernist’s owners. The apartment was paired down but very comfortable and renovated and furnished with impeccable taste. The owners’ passion for Faro’s modernist heritage shines through in all the details. Also very clean.
