I visited The Monkey Bar during Marysville's Strawberry Festival, and it was a fun little adventure. The place was packed (understandably so!), and while there are three floors, it seemed like only the lower two were in use. Still, there was plenty of seating and room to roam.
The bar has a definite dive bar charm, with a lively, local vibe. There were games like pool, skee-ball, and others that added to the laid-back, casual energy. The staff was fantastic--super friendly and upbeat, even with the festival rush.
They went all in on the strawberry theme with cute decorations hanging from the ceiling and drinks served in plastic strawberry-shaped cups. A really fun touch!
As for food, I took a chance on the "calamari"--which turned out to be a cleverly disguised sliced hot dog shaped like an octopus. Unexpected? Yes. Oddly delicious? Also yes. Definitely not your standard bar food, but it totally worked in a novelty kind of way.
If you're looking for a relaxed, playful spot with strong hometown energy--especially during a festival--Monkey Bar delivers.
