17 Glam Boutique Hotels in Palm Springs, From Spanish Revival Villas to Historic Escapes for Hollywood Stars

"For a budget-friendly hotel that still has Palm Spring's signature midcentury style, Monkey Tree hits the mark: the building was designed by legendary architect Albert Frey, and the rooms are decorated with colorful period details. The adult-only hotel is largely self-service—it's managed by short-term rental company AvantStay— but that's what helps keep prices pretty low. There's no formal check-in; you use a keypad to let yourself into one of 16 rooms. And while there's no on-site restaurant or bar, you're allowed to BYO food and drinks to the pool, where you'll also find lawn games like croquet."

I was here for a conference and stayed for four nights. This hotel is excellent for business travelers. The meeting rooms were well equipped, the lobby was spacious for quick discussions, and the Wi-Fi worked flawlessly. My room was quiet, even though the hotel was busy. The breakfast started early, which was convenient for early meetings. Also, the gym was clean and open 24/7 — great for keeping up with routines. I’ll be booking here again on my next trip.

Honestly, I was blown away by this place. I wasn’t expecting much, but it turned out to be one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in. The room was basic but very clean, and the bed was super comfy. The Wi-Fi worked perfectly, which was important for me. What made the stay special was the staff. They were so kind and helped me arrange a last-minute tour and even stored my bags after checkout. Breakfast was simple but tasty. For the price I paid, it was a steal. Great for budget travelers who still want comfort.

The perfect place for a 30 girl Bachelorette! The photo booth was such a fun surprise and having an industrial sized kitchen made it easy for us to not have to leave the hotel. I would recommend the buyout for any large group. It was ideal not having to deal with anyone besides our group of friends.

The Monkey Tree was the perfect spot for our big group trip. The rooms are spacious and the common areas are gorgeous and well-maintained. Communicating with the management was smooth. The commercial kitchen, the long outdoor dining table, the unique rooms, the rec room equipped with a photo booth, and the cold plunge were all big hits with our group. It’s an unforgettable stay experience!

The photo booth wasn't on when we're there, we call the number provided and they sent someone to fix it right away! Impressive. Love the ambience & everything is clean. Highly recommend the place if you want a chill place in Palm Springs. They have sauna too!!

Super cool decor, good location, and great outdoor setting. We enjoyed hanging out by the pool and having friends over for a cocktail to show off the fun mid century modern style. The hosts were easy to communicate with by text and very responsive. We will return as a couple and maybe with friends.

Google
It's a very cute and comfortable place. I liked it. Parking is free, close by, and no hidden fees. BUT unbeknownst to me when I booked it, there is not a property manager on-site. If you have something to discuss, a needed service, anything - an answering service will take your message and "someone" will get back to you. NOT! I called at 7:30am to see if I could get a late checkout that day? Two hrs later, no response. I called again. About ten minutes before the 11am checkout time, they called with approval from "their team". My bags were packed, I had canceled my plans because I could not confirm with management. I also called about a parking question - same problem. What if you get locked out of the gated community w/o your phone? (Its locked up between the parking and the rooms - like a compound). No one there to contact. The pool is heated and lovely, but the nice firepit reeks of propane all around it. And oddly enough, not a box of kleenex in the room. But for the money - it does have some character at least and close enough to the airport, and yet, far enough.

Google
Showed up near midnight after a drive in from LA. Very easy to find, a couple of tries at the keypad had us into the “compound” and then simple enough to get into the suite. |It was an early morning as you can hear the flights landing and taking off from the airport but that seems minimal given the laid back vibes of The Monkey Tree. ||The unit was clean and spacious and had everything we needed for a quick weekend away. ||Lost a star because we couldn’t access the common room that was advertised. But the pool and surround amenities were great, it was a quiet weekend so it felt like we had the entire place to ourselves. ||Would definitely stay again, but next time we will stay longer!

Yelp
Loved my stay especially during a very stressful time in my life! You check in by using codes for the front door and rooms! I loved swimming in a heated pool which I needed very much! Very quiet and peaceful place! I highly recommend it!

Yelp
After we checked in, we went to hang out by the pool and two of the four umbrellas were broken. We get to our room. It states that it's a king room Suite 3 and it was a full bed. My boyfriend is 64 his feet hung off the bed. We go to take a shower the tub stops up with water while you're taking a shower. The sink stopped up very slow draining. The pool was very dirty and the Jacuzzi was dirty. The next day they had it serviced he clean the pool but just poured chlorine and the Jacuzzi didn't even brush it. we had so many complaints that when they sent the team out there to service the umbrellas, they brought one umbrella. We just walked to get in the pool and the girl comes over to shut our umbrella, and I said excuse me and she rolled her eyes at me about her business. They replaced one of the umbrellas, we start hanging out by the pool and the lawn service comes for like an hour and a half not very quiet if you ask me. I asked for a partial refund because we were unsatisfied with no response. So we left we didn't stay the next night because my boyfriend was too uncomfortable in bed, and they thanked us and wanted us to write them at 10 what a joke. Would not recommend this place.

Yelp
Checking-in is a horrible experience. I didn't get any email about how to get in to the hotel. When I arrived I was dumbfounded to find that there's no human being on the property that would assist me checking-in. Intercom buzzer doesn't work. It was very windy outside and it was 11 PM. Thank God I met two hotel guests at the entrance door who was very to help me call the hotel customer service. Patricia, the customer service, couldn't find our reservation. She tried sending me emails but it didn't arrive even though I checked my spam many times. Frustrating and traumatic check-in experience. If u want a normal hotel, then this is not for u.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place. Adult only and many great reviews. We checked out of the hotel about 15 minutes after checking in. Making a trip out to the car my finger was caught in an overly-aggressive front door. There was no staff onsite so I called hotels.com. They reached out to the hotel mgmt who would not refund us since we were leaving and had non-cancelable reservations. Naturally, we did not think that would extend to being injured on site. This also required a trip to urgent care since I was unable to move my finger. The other issue I had was AFTER the reservation was made and paid for through hotels.com I received an email from Avant, a 3rd-party property manager. I had to sign a lengthy document filled with legalese to complete the reservation. During the short time we were there the amount of deferred maintenance was glaring.

Yelp
This 17-room hotel is run like an AirBnB. You'll need to download an app, then use the codes provided to enter the front gate and unlock your room. We had no issues whatsoever, but if you prefer more interaction and a front desk that is manned 24/7, this may not be the right place for you. We loved the mid-century decor, and with the property being so small we usually had the pool and hot tub all to ourselves. There are bikes you can borrow, pool floats, a fire pit, cornhole, board games and books to use in the lounge or take back to your room, gifts inside the room like a tote bag, baseball caps, and snacks, free parking and wifi, and yes it's pet-friendly. The kitchenette had everything you need to make breakfast or cocktails. My photos are of Room 11.
google avatar

Melinda B.

Yelp
The check in process to enter the room took 40 minutes. There is no human being on property to assist you. The phone line for support could not help us to quickly access our room. In order to check in we had to download an app, upload a license, do a face scan, various digital signatures. Then after that we had to sign a rental contract via email. The email didn't arrive and we checked spam. Their process to check in was not streamlined and so overly complicated. It was the worst experience I've ever had with a hotel. It was 100 degree weather which made things worse. We missed our dinner reservation at Copleys and we're charged a $25 fee for that.

Yelp
The Monkey Tree Hotel is a monkey-free hotel. There aren't any monkey themed rooms or paraphernalia. The only monkeys are the luggage trolley's wood monkey cutout and the beaded monkey in the Jungle Room. I stayed here for a couple of nights while in town for work. The location was perfect. It's close to downtown so Uber rides were inexpensive. And it was far enough away so I was able to sleep without loud noises at night. The vintage mid-century design of the hotel and rooms are adorable. There are only 16 rooms so the hotel can get sold out quickly. My room (#5), a junior suite was spacious and had a super comfy California King bed, love seat sofa, dining table, and kitchenette with sink, mini-fridge, microwave, and oven. The pool is the best feature. The sitting shelf is the perfect depth to sit, have a drink, and catch a tan while staying cool and partially submerged in the water. Because the hotel is adults only relaxing poolside is quiet and serene. Continental breakfast of hard-boiled eggs, yogurt, granola, muffins (made by the owner), breads, and fruit is included. Parking is free and there isn't a resort fee. So staying here is a good value. As a solo female traveler, I appreciated that the hotel only lets registered guests on the property. Fun fact: President John F. Kennedy and Marilyn Monroe had a tryst in room #15.

Yelp
I haven't even been to the hotel yet, but I'm already annoyed. They made it very clear I could pay for early check-in, I download the app, request an early check-in, and then I'm told "unfortunately there's no rooms available for early check-in." When you're being told this is an option, book a hotel, then discover it's not, it's very annoying. Typically, this wouldn't be a big deal, but their check-in time is already an hour behind usual check-ins. It's at 4pm! A 4pm check-in should literally be illegal. And of course, the hotel description didn't mention this until I already paid.

Andrew B.

Yelp
I'm hesitant to leave a 5 star review because this place was such a hidden gem, I don't want it to become too popular! The check in process was super easy, they even allowed us to check in a couple hours early no extra charge. It was pretty empty with just a few other couples around enjoying the pool and amenities which made for a really peaceful and relaxing environment. While there it says there is no staff, there was actually someone working there who was polite and helpful. Also you'll get a text message from the staff who say you're free to call or text if you needed anything. I had a question and they replied immediately. The room was nice, nothing too fancy but clean and cozy. Some really fun complimentary things provided like beer cozies, pop corn and stickers. One negative was the tap water was kinda funky but honestly I think that's just a desert thing, no worries though there is a water and ice machine up front. All in all great experience and will be coming back.

Yelp
Maybe this would have been great if the old owners were still there, or before COVID killed everything but not as great as everyone made it sound. rooms were ok, bed could have been better, AC was really loud but it's a window unit so that's expected. Bathroom was nice but shower hear was really low. grounds were clean but we were the only ones there, nobody else to interact with except the cleaning ladies which were friendly and amazing and funny. The sauna and dip pools were closed by the health department for whatever reason. No breakfast served or placed in the great room. Just a couple water bottles, empty toaster and some coffee pods for the Keurig. Seems like it was a great idea that has lost its greatness.

Yelp
Favorite part of the hotel? Well, the lounge area with a funky red rock covered gas fireplace and curved lounging couch where there are local area books, microwave, large table, and small tables (no free breakfast though.) Second favorite part: the pool area! They had piped in 60s music, floaty tubes, and comfy lounging chairs. Our room #5 was big with a king sized bed, coffee table with chairs, makeup chair and mirror, small fridge, microwave, coffee maker, electric burner stove, and all the dishes and implements (and cream, sugar and to go cups) to cook and drink coffee. The bathroom had a dryer, makeup towels, hand soap and small rosevscented shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. There were two nice ladies who work 9-6, (there was a grumpy guy at night.) The First Lady actually ran to the store and bought me decaf coffee when I asked to trade out the caffeinated coffee for decaf. She also brought a 20-something man to help us with the TV so we could get the Super Bowl game. True, the parking lot is small, there's not a ton of electric plug-ins in the exact perfect place but you can make it work, It is in on a flight plan and you will know the flight schedule (starting at 6:05 AM) and you may be a little annoyed like we were at the fact that you have to do a facial scan and provide a drivers license (but they will take a scan of your drivers license and a selfie instead.) It's about 8 minutes from downtown. Did Marilyn Monroe and JFK have a tryst in #15? Do you own research...

Yelp
I have no idea why people give this property five stars. It is a great example of why "crowd-sourced" reviews are horrible and not trustworthy. Good: 1. The room and property were clean. 2. While the staff was not there for much of the time, they were nice and helpful when they were present. 3. The other guests were well-behaved and not loud. Bad: 1. Inadequate number of electrical outlets in the room. This is 2021; not 1961. We have electric devices to charge. 2. The bathroom was a joke. The shower head was mid-belly high. Water went everywhere from the shower. It was tiny. 3. Airport noise. 4. The bed was like a rock. 5. Inadequate number of parking spaces. 6. No maid service daily. 7. Heater/AC loud as hell 8. Furniture was an ugly hodgepodge. 1980s rattan is not mid-century. 9. The television situation is a train wreck. It is positioned badly in the room, making it impossible to watch from the bed. The hotel provides a Roku and you have to log into your own subscription service. If you raise hell, they give you their Hulu login. This is totally unacceptable.

Yelp
Pros Chill atmosphere Clean comfortable rooms, bed, and bathroom Relaxing pool Cold dip Hot tub Communal Lounge area Corn hole Spacious property Amazing cleaning staff - shout out to Erika! Close to downtown (not walking distance but short uber ride). Small fridge in room Communal ice machine Dry sauna on site! Cons: -On a busy street -Under airport flight path and lots of airplane noise -No management or office people on site. There is no host or owner. Thinking the owners sold to AvantStay -Phone number doesn't even work Ok so here's where I need to vent IF YOU BOOK ON EXPEDIA BEWARE- it's likely you won't get any instructions. I paid and booked through Expedia. I tried calling the day before my check in to see if I could get an early check in. When I got outside the office was locked. Thank God for the cleaning lady who was amazing and went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. Other than that I never heard from anybody whether via text phone or email about instructions on how to access my room how to get in and out of the property or any other important stuff you might need. This is the first hotel I stay at where they don't provide any kind of welcome or instructions or phone number in case you need anything. Accommodations are just OK. Ive been to many places out in Palm Springs. There's nothing spectacular about this place. When I come out here the sole purpose is to relax by the pool and with all of the car and plane noise I don't think I'll be staying here again.

Yelp
Getting confirmation and check in information was a nightmare. We booked through Hotwire and then upgraded to the Presidential Suite. We never received the confirmation email even after speaking to 4-5 different Avantstay personnel and trying multiple email addresses. We weren't even sure if we had a room booked until we arrived. It seems that there are different entities involved in the booking and none of them are actually at the hotel. At first we were told the new software they were using was the cause and then we were told it was because we booked through Expedia, which wasn't true. We're still confused about that. Having said all that, once we got there and figured it all out, thanks to Jasmine who was on the premises when we arrived and was super sweet, apologetic and helpful, we got into our room. The manager, Jack, was kind enough to deduct the upgrade $ because of the confusion, which we really appreciated. We stayed in the "Presidential Suite", room 15. 2 full bathrooms and kitchenette, pretty much fully supplied. The bed was SUPER comfortable and the bedding was high quality. Decor was fun. Lots of closet and drawer space. We had our own little courtyard in the back where we had coffee in the morning. Even with the planes flying over, it was very nice and cozy. (The hotel is in the flight pattern of the airport) The hotel itself was super cute, clean and comfortable. The grounds were neat and tidy; very well kept. We loved the common courtyard; super cozy and peaceful, nice pool. It's within just a mile or so of grocery stores and really great restaurants. 30 minutes from Living Desert, an hour or so from Joshua Tree. (Both highly recommended.) Thank you Monkey Tree for a great time! We would love to come back again.

Yelp
We stayed here last weekend and could not have had a better stay. The hotel has spacious rooms, a great pool and hot tub and feels wonderfully secluded. If the hotel was full, you couldn't tell. It's small enough to never feel crowded. Everything was clean and comfortable and the support staff were friendly and accommodating.

Yelp
We returned to The Monkey Tree for our third time the first weekend they re-opened from the COVID closure (June 20-22th). We knew that it would be a slightly different experience, as several things that we've come to love at the hotel such as the freshly cooked breakfast in the Great Room and the poolside sodas and sangria just weren't possible in the current times. We were very impressed by how well the hotel adapted to the new precautions and regulations. Prior to our arrival we were able to do an online check-in, that would render our arrival at the hotel "hands free". When we arrived at the hotel, Kathy, (in her mask) greeted us (also masked up), and took us to our room and unlocked the door. Our keys had been sanitized and placed in a bag in the room prior to our arrival. We discovered that there was sparkling wine and a few water bottles waiting for us in our room to make up for no communal sangria during happy hour. The pool chairs and chaise lounges were properly spaced for social distancing, and everything was as lovely and comfortable as usual. Pool towels were already in our room, instead of out by the pool, along with a bag for dirty towels so that they could be swapped out if needed. The hotel has implemented a text message line so that you can text for anything you might need during your stay, instead of having to ask face-to-face. This is also how you arrange what time you'd like your continental breakfast, which is brought to your room each morning. Our breakfast included a yogurt, house made granola, a banana, mandarin orange, water bottle, and a freshly baked treat each morning (a scone the first morning and muffin the second). They've also created a new outdoor breakfast area, in case you'd like to eat outside! Overall, we had a wonderful stay. It was great to get out of our apartment for a few days and we can say without a doubt that we'll be back soon!

Yelp
2 day stay, The host was very welcoming. If your looking for a 60's vibe..stay here. From the entrance to the lobby to my chic retro designed room made the experience fun! The right amount of privacy, great hotel.

Yelp
What a great little boutique hotel. The rooms were nice. You even have three pillow choices. Came with a little complimentary snack bag upon arrival. The grounds are well kept. There are sodas in a fridge for your pleasure while you hang in the pool, complimentary happy hour and all the food is homemade for your complimentary breakfast....even the bread! Note, no one but guests are allowed on the property. There is one massage company that is allowed if arranged to have a massage in your room (Grounded Bodyworks). There is no iron in the room. Maybe at front desk but we didn't ask. You should bring slippers to walk on room with as the floor can get cold (we just went so chilly nights). No thong bikinis are allowed so they want modest coverage there. They do have a cold jacuzzi a hot jacuzzi and sauna and a lap pool you tether yourself in to swim. At night they light the fire pit and quite time is after 10. The food is little finger things. It so delicious and we ate enough along with fruit and yogurt to fill us up before our hike. All in all a great experience. I especially like that the whole wall is glass with a film so as long as the sun is out you can't see in the room. My only con is the bed was too bouncy ay least in room 6. Whenever my husband rolled over I would bounce away like those kids bouncy houses. Also it was very squeaky. Despite that one hiccup we will definitely be back.

Yelp
Palm Springs is our favorite gateway from home for me and my girlfriends. I can't believe l never stayed in this hotel. We loved it!! Michelle was amazing such a beautiful personality give us the best service made us feel so welcome. We are definitely coming back. Everything was perfect.

Yelp
Had the best time here! My boyfriend and I only stayed for one night and we wish we could have stayed longer. Our entire experience was effortless, fun, and welcoming right from the beginning. You can really tell the employees enjoy what they're doing & are more than happy to cater to your needs. We stayed in the "Jungle Room" and it was so beautiful. We plan to stay at this hotel again to try to check out the other rooms, but I have a feeling we're gonna end up staying in this same room again. The atmosphere is unique & very exclusive. You get a private patio, working AC, couch for lounging, a mini fridge/freezer, cable TV & so much more. The details of this room ties the experience altogether & makes for such a picturesque room at every corner! The bathroom is unlike anything I've ever seen before as it is a full walk-in glass wall shower. The glass wall outlooks the private patio & it makes for a pleasant shower. The bed wasn't the softest thing, but we still knocked out for the entire night! I wouldn't change a single thing about this room. Complimentary continental breakfast is homemade by one of the owners which makes you feel oh so special. Pleasant dining experience in their little lounge with good music & diverse food options. Their salt water pool was so fun for us to enjoy as it ranged from 3ft-7ft with tons of pool toys and floaties! They also put out free sangria and lemonade with a fully stocked smeg fridge at 4pm daily, making our pool time that much more fun. There was also a sauna, a jacuzzi, a cold plunge, and a bonfire pit. Just like the room we stayed in, every corner was well-furnished & so picturesque. Everything is fun to look at & is an amazing way to really unplug from your typical routine. I would recommend this hotel to anyone in the Palm Springs area. It is a MUST see! There is so much more that I didn't mention that we didn't get a chance to experience, so I guess we'll be back :) P.S. Book the in-room massages. You won't regret it.

Yelp
What an amazing place to stay. Greeted by owner Kathy, so as soon as you walk in you feel welcomed. I needed a get away for a virtual retreat and this was perfect. So clean and and if we needed anything we just needed to text so there is no contact, wearing masks when outside. Normally there is a continental breakfast however since can't have gatherings, they bring it your door. Can't wait to go back. This was my first time here but will not be my last. May have to make a regular trips to Palm Springs just to go here. We stayed in the Jungle Room. Love, Love this place

Yelp
My daughter and I stayed at The Monkey Tree Hotel last weekend with two of our best girl friends for a Mother - Daughter getaway. The Monkey Tree was a perfect relaxing retreat with beautiful, clean rooms. Each room is well appointed with authentic mid-century modern decor. There is nothing pretentious about this property, the vibe is very friendly and old school. It almost has a bed and breakfast feel to it. Kathy, the owner greeted us and made certain we had everything we needed for an amazing stay. The motel style rooms are all on ground level surrounding a cheerful courtyard with a sparkling pool, hot tub, plunge pool and sauna. There are more than enough lounge chairs for everyone to enjoy the courtyard and pool. This place is truly a hidden gem! We look forward to returning to The Monkey Tree Hotel soon.

Yelp
We love this hotel!!! The owners' attention to detail is amazing! The rooms were well designed and the beds were extremely comfortable. There is even a "pillow menu" so you can choose the pillow that best suits you. Super cute hotel with heated saltwater pool, hot tub, sauna, and plunge pool. A pink flamingo drink float was awaiting us in our room so that we could enjoy the complementary sangria and snacks by the pool at 4 PM. They make their own banana bread and granola every morning for the included breakfast. BTW no resort fees!!!! We will definitely be coming back!

Yelp
The people managing The Monkey Tree are very warm and greet you upon arrival to show you the amenities. This place is small and 60s retro but they take pride in keeping it feeling hip with fun touches like the 4pm Sangria Bar and pink flamingo pool floaties. Loved how this place was 'adults only' and small - all the other guests seemed chill and pretty respectful of the space. My only gripe was the super noisy AC unit in the room (i wish I'd brought my ear plugs) and puffy synthetic pillows. The king size bed and lines were great but unfortunately i didnt get the best night's sleep during my stay :-/

Yelp
We stayed here last year and loved every bit of it. Staff is 10/10 and very accommodating. The rooms are perfect. The hotel is discreet and private. Great pool and location. Sauna and cold plunge is our fav :) Rooms are very clean you won't get a better experience in Palm Springs. We're excited to visit again soon!

Yelp
I am stunned that there are any positive reviews for this place, which fails on almost every level. The no contact registration process is invasive and cumbersome and forces you to submit your government issued ID over your cellphone to who knows where, as well as a video of yourself to verify your identity. The property itself is located in no man's land at the north end of the Palm Springs airport, almost directly in the flight path (a fact which will make itself readily apparent at 6 am in the morning, when the jets start thundering overhead). The pool is not heated in the wintertime, which is definitely a first for me at a Palm Springs hotel. The room itself was grubby and uncomfortable, with a ratty rug, ugly mismatched furniture, flimsy non-blackout curtains, almost no electrical outlets, no desk, an antiquated bathroom, and heat/AC controls located literally at floor level. You also have to use assigned entry codes to get into the property as well as your room, meaning when you inevitably forget the codes, you'll be scrambling to find that email or text with the entry instructions. While it was not a problem for me, other guests advised me that the parking lot can fill up, forcing you to find street parking on dark side streets in what is not exactly the best neighborhood in Palm Springs. Perhaps most insulting of all is the cleaning fee they tack on (clearly not money well spent, given the condition of the room). This one is a total miss and should be avoided at all costs.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my stay here. My fiance and I love the sauna and we went for a swim at all the pools the food was good and the coffee taste fine. They have great music here to relax to and the rooms are comfortable and clean. Please be sure to check out this place soon I really recommend this spot to everyone I know. Enjoy.

Yelp
We loved this place! At first I was a bit skeptical but all the great reviews convinced me to give it a shot. They were super accommodating to our very late night arrival and we had champagne and an adorable flamingo drink floatie waiting for us in our room with a happy anniversary note! The property is so cute and every little detail is taken care of. We came from staying at a very upscale hotel in Hollywood that same weekend and The Monkey Tree had way more of the bases covered than that place: a pillow menu with four different types of pillows to choose from, great lighting in the vanity area to do make up along with a make up mirror, one of those clothes lines in the shower to hang up wet bathing suits - all the little things that can make such a difference. The pool is nice and well heated (I'm very particular about pool temperature), there are different types of floaties to choose from, plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas, towels, and a fridge stocked with non-alcoholic drinks. There's also a sauna which we enjoyed followed by a dip in the COLD plunge, and the jacuzzi was great at night. They had complementary sangria in the late afternoon. Our room was cute and comfortable although definitely not sound proof in any way. We were able to hear our neighbors chatting and playing music but it wasn't enough to keep me up. They also provide breakfast and at first I was once again skeptical because there were a few interesting items but if you have food sensitivities you should be all set. Everything that I tried was really good. There was no peanut butter for the toast so I had cashew butter and hey, who knew cashew butter was so good? There were also other spreads that looked tasty, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, banana bread and banana fritters that looked AMAZING but I am sensitive to banana so I didn't get to try them, these french toast and sausage bites that were so good. Coffee, lots of tea options, milk, fruit, etc, etc. Definitely left breakfast feeling well satisfied. The only negatives I have and they aren't really negatives for me but they might be for other people: only guests of the hotel are allowed on the property and it's definitely more of a quiet getaway than a place to party so I don't recommend it if you're looking to get trashed at the pool with your friends (go to the cactus rainbow hotel for that). Another reviewer mentioned that the AC unit was loud and I can see how that might be an issue as it's a window unit and was not quiet but we didn't need it at night, thankfully. Overall this is one of my favorite places we've stayed and we will be back!

Yelp
Had a fabulous time at the Monkey Tree Hotel. Everything was perfect- it was quiet no children beautiful large pool or smaller one near our room was very exclusive and private. We rented the jungle room which had a walled back yard to lie in. It was an immaculate place. Well kept. The shower was amazing to step down into or fill up as a tub for two. Loved the ladies in the office, they were very helpful and accommodating fir my late arrival. They had a list of things to do best restaurants etc. They have breakfast included but I was never up before it ended. I loved not hearing other people above and around us. WILL DEFINITELY RETURN!

Yelp
Amazing! Just left the Monkey Tree Hotel where me and my boyfriend had a quick one-night getaway from LA to celebrate our anniversary. What a treat! I loved the Monkey Tree more and more over my 24 hour stay. Kathy & Gary are amazing. They made the experience super personalized. Kathy greeted my boyfriend by first name, remembering him from their email communication beforehand. There was a handwritten card and little goodies in our rooms, congratulating us on our anniversary. Gary makes homemade granola and muffins each morning for the complimentary breakfast, and also came by to say hello to us. Kathy also helped my boyfriend schedule in-room couples massage, which was done by Grounded Bodyworks and INCREDIBLE! The actual hotel is so gorgeous. Built in 1960, it has that distinct retro / mid-century modern vibe, offset with yellow and blue color scheme. The flamingo and donut floats are adorable. The rooms are incredibly spacious. The entire place is small enough that it doesn't feel like your fighting for pool space. The hotel was just re-opened under its original name of The Monkey Hotel in February by Kathy & Gary. Serious power couple!! 100% recommend staying here!

Yelp
When you walk into the front doors, it opens up into a 1960's oasis. You truly feel like you have stepped into another world. The owners, Kathy and Gary, did an amazing job preserving the original architects vision, but with a modern face lift. The rooms were spacious, the beds were comfy, and we even had a kitchenette! Breakfast was included and they do a 4pm sangria hour everyday by the pool. You can also enjoy some spa time with a sauna, hot tub, and if you are brave a plunge pool. So many personal touches sets this hotel apart from the others. There is a pillow menu, a beautiful mural of painted rocks as a guest book, and you even get a tour from the owner as a first time guest. We high recommend this hotel and can't wait to return! It was just a quick road trip from LA, what are you waiting for?

Yelp
Every vacation to the best spot in the desert never disappoints! The grounds are always immaculate, the pool and spa (and newly tried cold plunge) are always so inviting, and the attention to detail with the hospitality and the room amenities is absolutely stellar. This place has everything - modern architectural history, being an Albert Frey hidden gem; the most picturesque palm trees in the city; completely comfortable and unique rooms; breakfast delicacies that are so delicious; and the best view of the classic Palm Springs setting sun while comfortably seated behind the warm, gorgeous blue rock fire pit. No pets, no kids, and no other distractions maintain that desired and focused attention on complete relaxation. Bring your own pool float, or select from the numerous fun ones they provide... and there's always the ever-present Floyd keeping an eye on the pool. I'll always want to be a guest at the Monkey Tree Hotel.

Yelp
Next time I'll stay longer! Very nice and quiet. All the guests were nice as well. Free parking and in an out access with a code that is given to you when you check in. I got tipsy with 3 cups of sangria given from 4-5:30PM. My boyfriend and I went to El Jefe at the Saguaro Hotel about a mile away. Next time we visit we'll probably prepare our own food and utilize the kitchenette at the Monkey Tree Hotel! Free Wifi and complimentary water and snacks! The pool was at perfect temperature for the 105 degree weather! And I attempted to use the cold pool at 50 degrees, but I couldn't even handle putting one foot in! Next time I'll just hop in! The breakfast was nice and I over heard the owner, Gary, state to other guests that he was the cook! Whenever I need a break from OC/LA, I'll make sure to visit this hotel boutique again in Palm Springs!

Yelp
This is one of the coolest places I've gotten to stay. Hip and accommodating! We stayed an extra night we didn't want to leave. So much history and the decor is insanely cool! 16-17 individually styled rooms, clean & Lots of NICE vintage furniture. Cheetah print and unique Filmore posters of All the greatest musicians. They have the Jungle Room Eric Clapton frequented and Marilyn Monroe & JFK have been said to meet up in room 15. Hot cold plunge pools, small pool with resistant waste band for swimming laps and larger pool for laying out and playing with "Floyd" the pink inflated flamingo. The owners Gary & Kathy alone are enough to want to stay here! Incredible hosts, friendly and fun. Home cooked delicious continental breakfast, free red and white sangria at 4pm & free purified water machine. I almost didn't want to leave a review to expose this amazing gem! But it would be such a disservice to you all! Highly recommended.

Yelp
Can't say enough good things about this perfect getaway. This is the kind of place you never really leave, we didn't for 3 days! I will remember this trip forever and hope to return many times over again. The hotel-- gorgeous, retro, charming, relaxing, everything you want of a Palm Springs intimate retreat. It still has the feel of that 60/70's Palm Springs era. The service-- owners and staff clearly care so much about their customers and the hotel, making sure they do everything to accommodate you and help with the perfect trip. We were looking for that typical "palm springs" intimate hotel that had intrigue and amenities-- so lucky to have found this one! And very reasonable for everything you receive. Its newly renovated, only reopen for a few weeks now. Besides the beauty of this hotel, its all the extra details that really make it an extraordinary stay and stand out compared to the hundreds of other hotels in the area. The homemade scones and granola in the morning, the purposely placed vintage games and books, the pool floats available, the happy hour sangria, the recommendations on food and entertainment, the accommodation of check in and check out time, the poolside (our choice) massages with an amazing masseuse, the owner's personally welcoming you and introducing themselves. Thank you so much for this needed getaway! Perfect for a celebratory few days with my boyfriend.

Yelp
Okay so this was a great find considering everyone else was booked for CUE 2016. It is very private, offers four outdoor pools (hot, cold, warm, exercise pool), has the softest grass I've ever walked on, homemade continental breakfast (granola infused with agave sweetener...yummy), rooms are clean and recently upgraded (hotel has been around since 60's), Directv with HBO and Max ;), fridge for cold beer, wine bottle opener, hair dryer, and there are plenty of towels! Only con is the shower...it hurts but in a good way; it felt pressurized and I'm used to water free flowing down...

Yelp
Just spent the weekend at Monkey Tree hotel celebrating our anniversary and I was really sad to leave. We checked in on a Friday for our two-night stay and were given a tour of the facility. They have a refrigerator next to the pool which is stocked with free sodas and La Croix (my favorite) and at 4pm they set up a sangria and snack station. They have a fire pit and although we didn't use it we saw another party enjoying it. It was a little chilly and windy and we noticed a staff member bring blankets to the guests. We found that to be very thoughtful. Their breakfast isn't your typical continental. The owner makes homemade breakfast (scones are a must try) for their guests. He was very nice and made it a point to walk around and make small talk with everyone. We opted for the in-room massages and were very happy with our decision. It was very relaxing and probably one of the best massages I've had. We also added our name to the Monkey Tree Love Rockwall and they supply the paint and brushes. Very cute activity. Overall, what makes this hotel stand out is the customer service. We loved everything about our stay and we're already planning another trip to stay at Monkey Tree. I definitely recommend this place for an intimate weekend with your significant other or just to unwind.

Yelp
Wow, the Monkee Tree Hotel is an amazing place to stay, with its authentic Palm Springs vibe! For our first trip away from home in 8 months we chose the perfect hotel! Kathy put us at ease with a contact less check in. The hotel rooms are all private, situated around in a courtyard, with the rooms situated around the pool, so you can step outside and take a seat in chairs, or on a pool lounge chair, or, dive right in! A spa is available on site also. Adults only, which made for a quiet, relaxing atmosphere. A continental breakfast was dropped off at the door each morning. The room was perfect, there was a refrigerator, a vanity table with a lit mirror, beach towels, everything was so perfect that we cannot wait to return very soon. Kathy was very nice and accommodating. I cannot say enough good things about this lovely place!

Yelp
I took a last minute get away trip to Palm Springs and stayed here. It was great, clean, spacious, and the pool is wonderful! I felt safe since all hotel rooms entry is from an open courtyard. Kathy greeted me, both masked & social distanced. I felt immediately at ease. The best part was the pool where it is easy to sunbathe, swim and still be social distanced from other guests. They also close during the week to deep clean and allow for rooms to air out. I highly recommend this oasis for anyone looking to get away for a short trip. I will be back! Oh, and cannot forget, fresh pastries each morning with the complimentary continental breakfast!!

Yelp
There's a reason all the reviews are 5 stars it's because this place is amazing!!! I would give it 10 stars, yes I would. First off the owners are so friendly and available, they made us feel so welcomed, super nice people! Second this place is probably the cleanest place I've ever stayed in, I mean pristine!!! Just spotless! I LOVE the decor, so bright and fun, just the perfect Palm Springs vibe we wanted. The rooms are very roomy, there are snacks waiting for you when you arrive, sangria in the evening and breakfast every am with something for everyone. Prices are in line with the other places, but there is no comparing, really. There is a heated salt water pool, aaaahhh coming in from NY a day ahead of the blizzard this was like heaven. Each room has a little patio area outside the room near the pool but there was enough room for privacy. There is also a heated lap pool and a spa. It's a short drive from the airport and into the busy commercial part of town, which made this a very relaxed and quiet desert oasis. We had such a great time here, if I ever go back there is no question this is the only place I would stay at. There is a very interesting history to the place which you can read about and how the new owners brought it back to its former glory, The Monkey Tree stands apart in it's excellence, bravo, well done!

Yelp
*** BE WARNED *** The Monkey Tree Hotel is almost directly under the flight path of the Palm Springs International Airport (see picture). This means you will be hearing VERY loud (ie: window-shaking) airplane takeoff & landing noise, starting before 7:00 AM and continuing at regular intervals throughout the day. The hotel is also on a main road with 45mph traffic, so you'll hear a lot of vehicle traffic as well. Back in LA I live on a busy street near the Santa Monica airport and I was hoping to get away for a couple of days of peace and quiet. This hotel was actually NOISIER than my noisy apartment, and that's really saying something. By the second night I was back to sleeping with earplugs in, just like I do at home. I'm not sure how it's possible that I've only seen one other review which mentions the airport noise. As far as I'm concerned it's a total deal-breaker for an otherwise fun and charming hotel. I actually really liked almost everything else about the place, including: - Ultra comfortable bed & linens - Handy kitchenette w/stove & fridge - Warm salt water pool - Great hot tub & cold plunge - Kooky, fun decor & landscaping - Friendly hosts The Monkey Tree Hotel has a lot going for it but sadly I won't be returning, unless of course the airport decides to change the flight path...

Yelp
I'm completely in love with this hotel. The decor, the pool, the hot tub, the room, the owners, the service - all phenomenal. Kathleen and Gary really care about their guests and want to make sure your trip is perfect. My favorite things -- The room: Floor to ceiling windows that look out to the pool which is in the center of the hotel, comfortable bed, mini fridge in every room The breakfast: Homemade, delicious The pool: Heated, saltwater, floats! The free sangria: 4pm, everyday I'll absolutely be back and highly recommend for anyone considering!

Yelp
The Monkey Tree Hotel is a fabulous boutique hotel straight out of the 60's. Kathy and Gary, the owners, have done an amazing job with the property and really make you feel welcomed and comfortable at their hotel. They offer continental breakfast every morning, including homemade bread and muffins, yogurt, granola, fruit, tea and coffee. It's also an extremely relaxing environment, especially since children under 14 are not permitted. We lounged at the pool every day where 50's-70's music played over the sound system. In addition to the salt water pool, they also have an exercise pool, hot tub, sauna and a cold plunge. The pool area has a fridge stocked with sodas and everyday at 4:30 they serve complimentary sangria. We stayed in the Deluxe King with Kitchenette style. The room had a bed, sitting area, kitchen and bathroom. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and the two of us had plenty of room to spread out. The hotel was peaceful and quiet every night and morning. The Monkey Tree Hotel is conveniently located to anything you might want to get to. Each hotel room comes with a parking space, so we didn't have to worry about finding parking for our car. We had an amazing stay at the The Monkey Tree Hotel and I would highly recommend it if you're planning a relaxing trip to the desert with a friend or significant other!

Yelp
I don't even know where to begin.... I could not been more impressed with accommodations, the owners, the beautiful grounds, comfort, and just thankful to have chosen this place! Came here for tour de Palm Springs century. We were upgraded to a room that has bike racks. Not just a bike rack but also a wall stand with a mechanic table! We went in the spa and sauna for a little pre race relaxation and it was so relaxing. The place is very peaceful and quiet and it was just what we needed. My favorite part of this whole stay was that Gary and Kathy made us little to go breakfasts for our race. HOMEMADE BREAD AND CASHEW BUTTER!!! Oh my gosh I swear it was the best bread and cashew butter in the world. They also gave us homemade jam and of course what would a stay at the monkey tree be without a banana ;) They made the bread that night! It was warm! Now that is some great people!! Sleep...oh you will sleep great. The beds are very comfortable. And it's quiet. I want to go back now!

Yelp
This is such a great spot. We came for a weekend away from stress and kids and that's exactly what we got. The place is sparkling clean and super inviting. The personal check in is wonderful and the owner is right there making sure you all feel welcome and have what you need. There were snacks and sangria poolside. Seriously I can't wait to come back!

Yelp
This is the perfect little getaway, everything you need and nothing you don't. Rooms are large and clean, Kathy and her team are truly lovely and could not have been more accommodating. We ended up at The Monkey Tree after another reservation cancelled on us at the last second and truly feel like this was where we were meant to spend the weekend. We will absolutely be back.

Yelp
So thankful we found this hidden gem, the Monkey Tree Hotel is the perfect slice of heaven! We truly had the best experience EVER! As regular travelers to Palm Springs, we have had our fair share of "stays" at many different hotels...but the Monkey tree hotel was different, from the moment we walked on the property to the minute we checked out our experience was outstanding. My mom and I were in PS this weekend celebrating Modernism week, and I must say, Kathleen and team really made our trip so so special. Kathleen especially genuinely cares about her "traveling tenants" & went above and beyond to make our weekend one to remember! The property is in beautiful condition! The breakfast is super yummy and they even have an adorable gift shop where I found my newest vintage macrame addition "Mr. Froggy" The rooms all have a wonderful view out to the pool (see pics) and there was a snack/beverage basket waiting for us when we walked through the door. (So thoughtful!) We won't stay anywhere else! Can't wait to come back

Yelp
My girlfriend and I loved the Monkey Tree Hotel. We recently spent a few days there as we were looking for a place for some R&R and we found the perfect one. Our room was amazing, breakfast was delicious, the happy-hour sangria was delightful, and the weather was perfect to enjoy all day at the pool. The attention to detail is spot-on throughout the hotel. Alex was very nice and attentive and Gary was very welcoming as well! We look forward to going back for fun in the sun at The Monkey Tree Hotel.

Yelp
Probably the best hotel experience I've had. Cathy and Gary, the owners, couldn't have been nicer or more considerate. My wife and I were married in a simple and intimate ceremony on the grounds of the Monkey Tree and felt that our wedding weekend was perfect. Cathy went out of her way to help make the experience special. The hotel itself is super cool with lots of vintage midcentury furnishings. The room was stylish and inviting, the bed comfortable, and the breakfast buffet delicious and healthy. Tasteful and hip poolside music compliment the decor and "vibe" of grounds courtesy of Gary. We can't wait to return. Thank you Cathy and Glen.
