"Big Yurt Dinner Party Dinner at Montana Backcountry Adventure's yurt is a unique experience, especially when you consider just how wild Montana winters can be; the falling snow, serene surroundings, and chilly temperatures make the warm confines of the yurt all the more inviting, while the gourmet dinner is the icing on the cake. Access to the yurt is provided by snowcat; the ride is a wholly unique experience in and of itself, while the breathtaking views at Big Sky threaten to fill up every last bit of space on your memory card."

Such a charming and memorable experience! Be sure to dress warmly—we sat on the rooftop as the cat brought us up the mountain, and were immediately greeted with a delicious bowl of soup. After that, we had time to explore the area, and taking the sleighs out for a ride was an absolute highlight—it truly made us feel like kids again. The rest of the meal was just as delicious, and the peaceful, beautiful ride down the mountain at night was the perfect ending. Highly recommend this magical outing!

This experience totally exceeded our expectations. The dinner was amazing. Both the steak and salmon were incredible. The yurt was awesome. Our kids loved the sledding snd hanging out in the forest. Overall, it was a 10/10. So glad we decided to do it. I can’t recommend it enough.

5 stars all around ✨️ 11/10 would reccomed! My brother and sister in law had a smaller wedding and we all had dinner there as a way to celebrate 🥳 The food was amazing! Best salmon and tenderloin I have ever tasted! Views are spectacular! We all had a great time and it was a memorable experience for us all!

We had dinner at the yurt with immediate family following our wedding ceremony. It was absolutely wonderful! The food was amazing - by far the best food we had all week. The atmosphere is unbeatable - great views, live music, cozy fires, and a few outdoor games. I wish we could have stayed longer!

We rode the cat up with our kids and loved the sledding and setting and just everything about it.

Went up the mountain in a deuce and a half at the end of the summer season. Great ride followed by amazing food! The tenderloin is absolutely phenomenal and the sides were equally as delicious. Great overall experience and food and would highly recommend!

The Montana Dinner Yurt was an awesome experience! I don't know how people could leave negative reviews. They must have a negative picky life. We did the Yurt on Jan 8th and Skyler and crew did an awesome job. The other groups with us seemed to have a great time too. Not many people get to experience something like this and we enjoyed every minute of it. The food was delicious! The guy playing the guitar was perfect! The atmosphere was therapeutic with the candle light and fire pit. Skyler and crew were always walking around making sure everyone had what they needed. Money buys nice things and I highly recommend the Montana Dinner Yurt for a very unique dinner.

This is the most amazing experience I have had so far in Big Sky! The adventure started on a snow cat up the mountain to a yurt. Hot French Onion Soup was waiting for us. The main course was tender and juicy, you could cut with a fork! My sin said best Birthday gift!!

Yelp
Is it a cool experience? Yes! Is it unique and something you should consider? Yes! Montana Dinner Yurt does come with some odd tendencies! You are instructed to meet at the base of the slopes and be ready to roll at 6:30pm sharp! I had a reservation for 6 to share in the experience, with two additional adults added the day before. We were all checked in by 6:20pm. We were told that someone with the company didn't know about the two additions, so we spent 15 embarrassing minutes on the phone as the owner was adamant we put her in an awkward position. After they realized the additional people were indeed reserved, we pulled out close to 6:50pm. It takes literally 20 minutes to make it to the top of the mountain at the yurt. Delicious salads were waiting at your reserved tables. Afterwards you were given about 20 minutes to hang out on the large deck to take in the views. Dinner bell rings summoning you back to your table for incredibly delicious salmon or filet entrees! Cooked perfectly, and paired with wonderful homemade mashed potatoes and sautéed vegetables, this was a wonderful meal! We enjoyed perhaps 20 more minutes outside before being surrounded inside for a wonderful fondue dessert. The staff then embarrassingly comes by your table to inform you that they need tips to be able to make ANYTHING on the $155 per person meal! I was embarrassed for them to be so bold as to plead for it, and embarrassed that they also pleaded for tips for their hired musician. After tips were collected, we were immediately hurried to the truck to return to base camp. Food is outstanding, but the inexperienced staff, and rushed evening was slightly embarrassing!

Yelp
If you come to Big Sky, you must book this experience. In all my years of traveling to different resorts, I have never experienced this kind of dinner. The ride on the groomer was fantastic and pretty, with the view as we rode up. Make sure to dress warm it does get cold, especially when you're on top. It is a set menu; you choose your protein before, and if you have kids, they have a separate list. It is BYOB if you want to bring any alcohol. The service was excellent and didn't feel rushed or anything. We walked into the yurt with a warm cup of French onion soup to warm us up. The main plate, the prime rib, was so tender you could cut it with a fork. The salmon was filled with flavored and cooked perfectly. The fondue was yummy, with it being Toblerone chocolate. Overall it was an experience I'd never forget. Next time I'm back, I'll be booking a dinner back here.

Yelp
An experience to enjoy. Meet at 6:30pm to sign in. 6:45 loading the two snow cats. 12 people inside each. There is rooftop seating with pads and blankets so not too cold. 10 minute ride up to the yurt where delicious hot French soup await. After soup, a short break to go play in the snow or gaze at the stars. Then perfectly cooked beef filet, cooked veggies, and delicious mashed potatoes are served. Other options are available but if you eat meat, go for the beef. Generous portions and they offered seconds. The only set butter knives but you could eat the beef with a spoon it is so tender. Desert is a chocolate fondue with Toblerone chocolate served with chunks of pound cake, bananas, apples, and oranges. Byob but they will provide glasses. They have a variety of drinks available. Service was impeccable and friendly. Pile back into the snow cats for a 10:00pm return. The driver let my wife sit up front. Just do it.

Yelp
Seth and Matthew were the best hosts for this event that we had with our family. The meat, potatoes and vegetables were cooked to perfection and the fondue for dessert was a nice treat. I have mobility issues and they were very helpful with assisting me with getting on and off of the truck. Beautiful views and fun games were available. We are looking forward to going again next year.

Yelp
This was a great dinner and an extremely fun night. Food is very good. The beef was tender, the salmon flavorful, the sides extremely good and there were plenty of leftovers to get 2nds or 3rds as needed. As the other review noted, you are greeted with a warm bowl of baked french onion soup which was fantastic and the meal is topped off with chocolate fondue for desert which was very good. I think the cost is about $95 including gratuity which you'll probably pay for a high end dinner anyway if you went out, however...this offers a lot more. The ride up to and back in the snowcat was a blast. You can sit inside or up top and I'd recommend sitting up top. It's a fun social event up there. The dinner is BYOB and bring all you want! We had cocktails on the way up, more around the campfire, some wine with dinner, and a bit of bourban to enjoy with cigars around the campfire. The sledding was fun, the service was friendly, and you had plenty of time to enjoy the outdoors between courses. It is a really fun night. I uploaded some pictures but they don't do the meal justice. You are in a candle lit yurt warmed by a wood stove and the atmosphere far exceeds anything you could catch with a crappy cell phone flash. So, if the food pictures don't excite you....go anyway. It's really good!

Yelp
This is the best meal, hands down we've had on our 3rd trip to Big Sky! I ordered the salmon & my man friend the beef tenderloin. It was cooked to perfection. I'm not a mashed potato fan but I'd eat mash potatoes every day if they tasted like these! Then they bring out chocolate fondue & have an assortment of cakes & fruit to dip into the chocolate. Now that's just the food I'm raving about but the overall experience itself added to the enjoyment. You get to ride a big snowcat up to the yurt. There are tiki torches, a bonfire & a sledding hill to enjoy while waiting in between courses! Highly recommend!! Kid friendly too.

Yelp
The Montana Yurt Dinner was by far the best experience I had at Big Sky. From start (riding up he mountain in a big cat) to end (chocolate fondue) this experience can't be beat. The food was amazing - the steak and garlic mashed potatoes were delicious and seemed to come from a 5 star dining experience. I would recommend the Yurt Dinner to anyone and everyone going to Big Sky!

Yelp
Absolute must do experience. Snow cat ride was super memorable, the stars are unlike anywhere I've been, and the food was absolutely 5-star delicious. The beef tenderloin was out of this world. Even the veggies were great! The chocolate fondue was just ok but everything else was just awesome.

Yelp
Went with a big group, they were great at sorting out the logistics and getting us all away and up the mountain on time. The ride up the mountain can either be on top of the snow cat or inside, on top you get a great view of the mountain all dark at night, take a tin of beer up top for the ride up. The food is great, the Yurt is warm and you also get a pit fire outside and tobogganing between courses. The Salmon is roasted so unlike the steak you can't order it rare/medium/well, it is just as it is. Sill it was moist and tasty. A good evening, would recommend it to anyone spending time in Big Sky.

Yelp
This is a must do in Big Sky! Such a unique experience and the food was excellent. Dress warm for the 12 minute CAT ride up to the Yurt in the middle of nowhere. Sled riding during breaks. Live music. Excellent service. BYOB. Beef tenderloins melted in my mouth. Highly recommend!

Yelp
This was such a fun experience! You meet at the Big Sky Resort and then ride a snow cat up the mountain to the yurt. My family and I rode on the top of the vehicle, and it snowed the whole way up, but we were dressed warmly, and there were plenty of blankets to go around. (You can ride inside where it's heated if you want.) You start off with tasty soup when you get to the yurt, then get a sledding break right next to the yurt, then come back in for the main meal. The salmon was delicious, and my husband loved the beef. They offered plain buttered noodles for my kids, which was perfect for them. There were steamed vegetables and mashed potatoes served family style. Then came another sledding break and then a delicious dessert of chocolate fondue with pound cake and fruit. It's BYOB for alcohol, but we're not drinkers, and there were plenty of nonalcoholic beverages included with the meal (sodas, water, tea, hot cocoa.) The live music on the night we went was not very good, unfortunately, and I would have taken maybe 1/3-1/2 of a star off for it. It was one guy with a guitar who couldn't really carry a tune and kept forgetting and mumbling the words to the two Christmas songs he tried to sing. He mostly sang a few recognizable older popular songs and what sounded like made-up stoner songs. A cd would have been a lot better. This was still a wonderful experience though, and my two younger children, husband, and I all enjoyed it immensely. Delicious food, fun sledding, really unique experience.

Yelp
Awesome experience! This is a four man operation, I don't know how they do it. The service was wonderful. The salmon and beef were delicious and the portions are plentiful. The French onion soup and dessert fondue were great. The sledding between courses was so much fun, as was the rise up on the snow cat!

Yelp
What an experience! So fun, good food, great people! Snow cat - ride inside or outside on top of the cat on the 15 minute trip to the yurt. Your call, but on top is way more fun. Yurt - cozy and completely warm inside from the wood burning stove. The ambiance was incredible because it was completely candle lit with vintage lanterns. The acoustic guitarist is so talented too! My partner and I shared our table with only one other couple who were super nice. Good food - French onion soup, salmon, beef tenderloin, garlic mashed potatoes & gravy, sauteed veggies, and chocolate fondue. BYOB. Sledding between courses - picture a bunch of adults acting like kids and laughing their heads off. Be sure to wear your ski/snowboard pants, a warm jacket, and gloves. You'll be glad you did! Besides the incredible snow we were lucky enough to get on our trip last week, this was definitely one of the big highlights on our trip to Big Sky!

Yelp
Can't believe I'm the first to review this AMAZING experience. That's right, it's an experience, not just a meal. It goes something like this... You ride a snow cat (inside or on top) up a snowy mountain where you embark and enter the yurt. Hot yummy French Onion soup is waiting is at each place setting, you are greeted by live acoustic music and beautiful candlelight to set the mood. Since it's BYOB, the waiter promptly opens wine that was brought and you enjoy the first course. After soup, you are given the opportunity to go outside for a "sled break" or just sit and enjoy the ambiance. Course two is served, Beef Tenderloin cooked to perfection along with garlic mashed potatoes and roasted veggies. They do not skimp on quantity or quality. I noticed a couple others opted for salmon or vegetarian pasta but if you're a meat eater for sure order the tenderloin. Some of the best steak I've ever had. Course three is chocolate Toblerone fondue served with pound cake, apples, etc. The flavor was great but the the fondue was a little runny and much thinner consistency than I've had in the past. That's not enough to knock down the five star rating though. After you're done it's time to take the snow cat back down the mountain. They time it perfectly for those needing to catch the skyline shuttle to the lower villages. By far our best and most memorable meal of our Montana vacation.

Yelp
A total 5 star experience!! Staff is wonderful and accommodating. The snowcat ride was magical as was the sledding for the kids while parents watched or hung out w other adults by the outdoor fireplace. The food could be the best meal I've had in Big Sky- amazing soup, tender tenderloin, out of this world mashed potatoes and great chocolate fondu. Cozy yurt and great music. Definitely a splurge but totally worth it!'

Yelp
An absolute must for your trip to Big Sky. What an amazing evening. The snow cat ride, the food, sledding, outdoor fire, yurt, live music, and staff were ALL top notch! For sure worth the cost.
