Just back from a weekend break at this hotel. Everything was nothing short of exceptional with our stay. The hotel is really nicely decorated with plenty of art and sculptures on show and the staff are up there with the best I've ever encountered ( without being overly formal). Nothing was too much trouble and they were just all really good at their jobs. Breakfast had high quality items available with a good selection of hot cold and cooked to order items available. The bars have table service which I'm not a huge fan of but the cocktails were really good and a decent selection of drinks available. The room was nicely decorated but on the small side of things. There was a complimentary selection of cakes waiting for us when we checked in along with two cartons of water. The city centre is a less than twenty minute walk in but due to the hills a taxi back is advisable (€10). There's a free car park on site which is unusual for Cork. We will definitely be back and I'm looking forward to the next time we go already.

One of the best hotel experiences I've ever had. All staff members were incredibly friendly. The breakfast was amazing. Our room was perfect. And they even left little chocolates for us every evening. On top of all this, the location was beyond walkable. My wife and I frequently walked into town for lunch and dinner.

We stayed in the Montenotte Hotel for three nights as part of our second honeymoon/ 30th wedding anniversary celebrations, staying in the River suite for the first night and the woodland suite for the next two. Both are situated in private grounds at the hotel away from the hustle accessed by buggy or a short walk. The suites were modern and beautifully decorated, comfortable and well appointed. We were treated to a private check-in and on arrival to the room there was a local cheese and cracker plate. The room has everything we could have wanted including a balcony and we were treated like royalty while there. The hotel has a friendly relaxed atmosphere with staff being very attentive and helpful. We would highly recommend the Panorama restaurant the food was top quality and so tasty with buttery scallops amongst the quality dishes on offer. We will return again and would definitely recommend this hotel.

We visited in April (a little late in reviewing)|We had a lovely family gathering and found all the staff to be super friendly and accommodating. The outdoor heated terrace is a great place for groups to gather and it was just perfect for us as we were 3 families. |There was confusion as to which menu we were to order from for our dinner which was included in our rate (the staff didn’t seem aware of this) but it didn’t affect what turned out to be a great evening! Breakfast was also great as was the cocktail bar we visited before dinner.|I didn’t visit to pool but the juniors in the group seemed to enjoy it and the jacuzzi.|We would definitely come back.

We recently stayed at this “boutique” hotel. What a HUGE disappointment. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by the concierge who was just too overly friendly and in your face telling us about the wonderful service we would receive and if we needed anything, he was always there to answer questions. Never saw him again the entire trip. Then at check in, we were given a handicap room….room was tiny but nicely decorated and the bathroom was huge….but….it was really set up for someone in a wheelchair and there was only a cheap curtain for the shower. We felt bad about taking a room that someone else may actually need so we asked to be moved. We were then moved to a regular room….not as bright and light and nicely decorated as the handicap room (felt like a orange/gray colored dungeon) and the new bathroom was ridiculously tiny with a tub/shower combo that you had trouble trying to get out of b the sides of the tub were so high and no counter space for toiletries. For something that touts itself as a 5 star hotel, where’s the AC?!! The rooms are quite stuffy and if you open the windows, the noise is just too much. Sucked it up since we were only staying for two days. Then the breakfast buffet….breads were definitely stale and we’ve had better food at a Holiday Inn Express. Decided to order off the menu the next day….waited over 30 min for our food and said forget it and walked out. They say they provide great customer service but that was just lip service, their actions (or lack of) said otherwise. Gave a two star because of the awesome view of Cork at night. Will never return

Lovely hotel. Our experience was of excellent service and care. My husband suffered a severe reaction to an insect bite. The duty manager was extremely helpful and considered. She booked us an appointment with a doctor at the next stop on our journey and really understood the situation. She showed great concern and nothing was too much trouble.|The staff at the hotel as a whole were pleasant and helpful.

This was a very special trip and stay for us, as I proposed to my now fiancé that morning. From the moment I booked and spoke to the team about arranging various things to when we arrived and all throughout our stay the team were amazing and i would like to thank you all sincerely for what was a wonderful stay. This hotel is amazing and has great views of Cork. Be sure to make use of the spa and call into the bar for a lovely pint of Tiger Beer (don't see that very often on tap). It was a real treat but well worth it. Thank you and we will be back for sure !

We Stayed 1 night (22/06/25) for a short break away. The hotel, location and food were all excellent, but the stand out thing for us was the exceptional service and overall hospitality shown by all the staff. From the bar staff to the cleaners and kitchen staff, all were friendly, helpful and welcoming. A big thanks in particular to the front of desk “Jess” who was really welcoming, helpful and polite. Jesse was also great craic, and made us feel like she wasn’t just “doing her job”, but really felt like someone you could actually talk to, not your run of the mill check in staff - she is an asset to the hotel.!! I Would 100% stay again and recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing stay away in Cork.

Yelp
We are in Ireland for a nice long trip. The trip of a lifetime! The grounds of the hotel are very perfectly located on top of a hill, so you can get those great photographic moments. The rooms are nice, the staff is amazing. The hotel food was very amazing. The breakfast was very good too. My only gripe would be that the shower head probably needed replacing a year ago, but it's nothing that wouldn't happen anywhere. Overall, this is an amazing location to spend a few days

Yelp
I stopped by The Montenotte Hotel in Cork to meet a friend, and I had a coffee while waiting. The staff were incredibly friendly and made me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. The hotel itself has a lovely atmosphere, and I enjoyed the relaxed setting. While I didn't stay long, the coffee was great, and the service was prompt and attentive. It's a nice spot to visit for a coffee or a catch-up with friends, and I'd definitely consider returning for a longer visit next time.

Yelp
The hotel is stylish and the staff was friendly. Amazing views from the restaurant and garden out back which no one was using so it felt like your own private yard. Parking was tight but not really a problem. No A/C and it was hot when we traveled there so it was tough to sleep. It's also not walkable to anything so you'll need a car or take taxi/ride share everywhere.

Yelp
We absolutely loved this hotel! We ended up not leaving and going out on the town because it was raining and this hotel had everything we needed! I was really glad that I had booked a reservation at the restaurant in advance because they were completely booked for the night. We were checked in quickly and our hotel room was beautiful and comfortable. There was even a welcome note, some chocolates, tea and waters, which were greatly appreciated. The restaurant was stunning and the view from our dinner table was so beautiful as well. We were greeted and served immediately, and enjoyed some fabulous cocktails while we waited for our filet mignons. We met a nice couple who was sitting next to us and chatted with them throughout the entire dinner, so even the patrons of this hotel are nice! The food was incredible and so was the gelato dessert. We spent the rest of the night having drinks at their beautiful cocktail lounge, which had a live jazz band playing for most of the night. We also enjoyed their sculpture garden, which was very fun to look at since my husband and I love art. After some nice cocktails and a walk in the garden, I took a hot bath in their luxury bathrooms and had one of the best nights on my trip to Ireland full of fun and relaxation. I would definitely stay at this hotel again the next time that I am in town. Every staff member from the hotel check in, to the restaurant to the bar were so nice and accommodating. They really made me feel welcome and comfortable. I've heard people around Ireland call this place the Monte-snottie, which could not be further from the truth. Everyone was very sweet and lovely.

Yelp
This hotel is the epitome of amazing service! From the moment we walked through the door they were extremely accommodating and the rooms were clean and beautiful! We had a view of the entire city of Cork in our room. The dinner was amazing, one of the best steaks I've had. The cheese board was exquisite, one of the best Brie cheeses I've ever had. We also got the dessert as pictured. The gym was very large for being a hotel gym with a lot of cardio equipment and weight lifting machines. My favorite part, though it's hard to pick just one, is the breakfast! They make you hand crafted coffee drinks in the morning and they're DELICIOUS! They by far have the most options for a breakfast buffet! They had a huge platter of REAL honeycomb you could scoop to put on your breakfast. Truly a high class place! The staff helped carry our bags to our rooms for us and helped carry them down to our cars once we checked out. It's the little things like that that make a huge difference. One of the best places I've stayed at during my trip to Ireland!

Yelp
We had a group of 9 stay this weekend. They were very accommodating about checking in at different times and making us feel welcome right away. I feel so terrible that I didn't catch his name but we dealt with one member of the concierge in particular that really made our experience memorable. He was incredibly warm and welcoming and made us feel right at home (he had two inner ear piercings if someone at the Montenotte can get this message to him!). The vibe is very unique without trying too hard. There are trendy/quirky pieces throughout the building. The rooms are clean and modern and they even have cell phones you can borrow while you're at the hotel so you don't have to worry about roaming charges exploring the city! Our room didn't have a fridge but it was no problem to call down and have one brought up. The location is slightly out of the city center but it's an easy cab ride or walk if you want to stretch your legs. They do have a gym/leisure club that has decent equipment and weights. There is an indoor pool but you need to wear a swim cap (available at the gym desk). My only downside is that room service food isn't available late as all the other food options in the city shut down by 10-10:30. The concierge did help us order a pizza from a local pizza place but but the pizza was terrible - we would have loved to order from the hotel. They are also currently doing some construction so some of the hallways are closed. Not a huge deal.

Yelp
Pros: + Great view from many parts of the hotel. + Gorgeous sunken Victorian garden. + Friendly staff + Amenities in the apartment rooms were well above average - they include a fridge, freezer, washing machine and dryer (!), microwave, oven, range, range hood, and are fully furnished with pots, pans, plates, etc. - Beautiful furnishings including LED recessed lighting with dimmers. - Well appointed restroom and shower. Great water pressure. Cons: - Our toilet had a broken seat upon check in - I informed the staff but they did not fix it during the two days of our stay. - The access road can be extremely tight if you approach from the east (Lovers Walk) - approach from the west instead especially if you are not a veteran Irish driver. - No air conditioning (typical of Irish hotels I think) so it can get very stale with the windows closed or very cold with the windows open and difficult to modulate temperature. - Bed choices were lacking - a double bed was not quite big enough for we two tall people and I was more comfortable sleeping on the couch. - Our outer door had a very loud "squeak" caused by the metal door closer in the doorframe rubbing against the door. The door had noticeable damage from this impact, so it's surprising maintenance never came to fix it. - Housekeeping never came to make up our room. Not sure if this is expected for the "apartment" rooms. - The room did not have a "do not disturb" sign.

Yelp
It's a bit off the beaten track for visiting Cork, but if you're interested in staying in a nice big hotel with lovely views of the city from the hills above it, this is a great place. The rooms were lovely, the wireless (for a small charge) was strong, and the bathroom was spacious. For those like me who can't go on vacation without also hitting the gym (it justifies all the drinking, dontcha know), there's a full fitness center with pool attached to the hotel, including a pool. The staff was helpful and courteous, and there was a charming pub and small church within walking distance if you want to go out for a pint or a prayer but not all the way into the city. Bottom Line:AND by sheer co-inky-dink it was in the same neighborhood I stayed in 21 years ago and I kept seeing things that tugged at my memories. So, I guess you could say...I've already been back...

Yelp
Stayed in the Montenotte in early February 2011 and I have to say that I was fairly impressed. It's not the most central hotel in the world, but a 15 minute walk brings you to Patrick Street and all the glory of Cork City. The rooms are decent enough - seemingly lots of business travellers use the hotel so they are a wee bit corporate for my taste (i.e. not the most luxurious) but grand for the occasion. The food was good, the bar is lovely and the staff were more than helpful! The one criticism I had was that on the Saturday evening we popped down to the pool for a relaxing swim only to realise that the public could pay for use of the pool - not a bad thing in itself, heck every hotel has to make money... although the bunch of hooligans drinking in the jacuzzi wasn't to everybody's taste!

Yelp
Beautiful hotel- we had two issues. #1 the hotel is about a mile straight down hill to town so you're walking a mile straight up-hill or paying for a cab to get home. Also, there's was no air conditioning which made for an uncomfortable night, you may be able to request a fan (we didn't ask). The view is amazing from the panoramic bar, however the service was not great. Not sure if we would stay here again.

Yelp
We've stayed here a couple of times and will definitely be back again. The hotel is in a beautiful location overlooking Cork city and is finished to the highest standard, rooms are clean and spacious and the beds super comfortable! But I think the best thing about the stay were the wonderful, friendly, accommodating staff. The could not have been more helpful, always smiling and ready to answer 'yes' to any request. They really made our trip that extra bit special. On top of that Cork is a great city, we'll be back for sure, and soon I hope

Yelp
We had a girls night at the movies here. The setting was beautiful and the drinks and food were great. The movie room was lively with plush chairs, popcorn and blankets. The only reason for less than five stars was bad parking situation and not very attentive service. I would go again in a minute.

Yelp
I have stopped here once on a mad dash around ROI with work arriving at 10.30pm to a warm welcome and a smile, thanks. This hotel has joined the Best Western group of independant hotels so standards will always be good. My room was large and well decorated though it was a bit of a trek from reception as the hotel is long and thin. Check the hotels own web site for pool/gym etc as I never got to see any of the hotel really. staying only 1 night I left after breakfast which was good but let down by cheap sausages. All in all a nice hotel and happily use it as my base on future trips to the Cork area. X = You've gotta be kidding me XX = trying but not reaching the standard expected or advertised XXX = achieving the standards expected/advertised however high that might be XXXX = they're doing something special here, above expected standards of service XXXXX = WOW! you gotta go here!

Yelp
Overall very nice place - clean, kind staff, and good shower. Place is a little but of a hike (uphill) from the city, so not an ideal location for walking home. Pillows suck (is that an Irish thing?) But some nice views from the bar and the deck.

Yelp
I had faith in this Best Western branded hotel; however, upon my 6:45 p.m. arrival in July 2013 I was notified that my confirmed internet reservation was not going to be honored, my room was gone and that they had booked me into a "comparable" room at another hotel. In fact, the "comparable" hotel had no air conditioning! This when Ireland's worst heat wave in eight years was pushing temperatures way into the 80's. We had to open the windows to allow some cool night air into the hot room. The open windows in this "comparable" room allowed the noise from the hotel's wedding reception celebrants into the room until late into the night. The open windows in the "comparable" room also meant we were awakened in the morning by those leaving early from the hotel's parking lot. We experienced slamming car doors from start to finish! Upon discussion with Cork locals about this Best Western Montenotte's inability to hold our confirmed reservation, I was informed that this is apparently a recurring practice of the Best Western Montenotte Hotel. We also heard that the owners of the Montenotte have a business interest in the hotel in which we were re-booked. If true, their business plan apparently is to intentionally overbook the Montenotte and then re-book people to their other "comparable" hotel. DO NOT MAKE A RESERVATION AND EXPECT IT TO BE HONORED AT THIS PLACE! Also, I wrote a complaint to Best Western's International Operations VP and David Kong, the Best Western President and CEO, and never heard back! So don't expect any cooperation from the Best Western brand either.
