The Moose On The Loose

Pine Plains is a small quiet town so if you are looking for a home cooked meal, and more importantly hometown service and a hometown feel and look no further than “moose on the loose” I had breakfast and the coffee and everything was absolutely delicious and all the seats in this small little deli were awful with locals discussing call matters of local politics and events. The staff was overly friendly and welcoming and even though I didn’t even ask for it they gave me the military discount with a sincere show of gratitude and thanks. The locals know about this place Everyone else should too, and if you are one of those city people that tend to destroy our local communities please treat this one with respect because they deserve it.

This place is a absolute dump there were customers and a dog in the kitchen.. The women were to busy talking to take my order, and when I did get the chance to order they "destroyed" the last plain bagel? Then were rude to me because I was confused why they were asking if they could substitute the plain bagel.. I walked out, they couldn't even complete the simple order of plain bagel toasted with butter.. On a side note the person's food infront of me was wrong...

Popped in here for a quick breakfast and loved it! I was planning on taking my food to go but since they were so friendly and the place was cute, I stayed to eat in. The service is great, the food and coffee were good, and the other patrons were very friendly as well. Being a city girl I found it unusual at first when people sitting at other tables started to bring me into their convos and then it was like I was part of their group. It turned my very stressful morning around.

Little diner, frequented by local people. I love places like this. Food was delicious. Ordered and paid at the counter. The only thing they didn't have was a ceramic mug I was hoping to buy, but they were out of them and didn't know if they would ever get another. Oh well it was still worth going there.

They are very slow going in the mornings. The woman who cooked was not using gloves and was eating the cheese between putting it on the sandwiches. I debated just losing out on my $6 BEC but instead took it to work and cooked it again, after watching that. Nice ladies, but I do not plan to go back.

Small quaint deli with friendly staff ready to take your order and there are a few tables and chairs available inside and outside the establishment. They also offer a few varieties of desserts, among them were large heart shaped cookies in different flavors. They also had muffins and other items which I would assume would rotate depending on ingredient availability. I enjoyed my brief experience there. I had an egg and cheese bagel along with one of the heart shaped chocolate chip cookies for later. I would definitely recommend!

Edit from previous review. .ust have been a good day for all the ladies on my first visit. Can't say the same for the other times I've been here. This last time was the best. They forgotten my order and I waited over 40 minutes for a sausage egg and cheese and a special. Come on, they you ask me if I still want it. I didn't say anything, what I wanted was a comped Sandwich or a 10% discount, not a "do you still want the Sandwich " Like I'm less hungry after 40 minutes. At least a cookie thrown in the bag. But that what happens when you are the only game in town.

In friendliness it gets a rating of 11! Geez they couldn't be nicer or cheerier! Yes, it's buzzing on a weekday at lunch time and everyone coming in seems to know everyone else and asks after them in the nicest way and the people behind the counter are addressing customers by name, and everyone is cheery and happy. And even if you come in as a stranger when you're hungry at lunch time and you are nearby, they will be nice to you I bet, as they were to me. But sorry, the food is average. My chicken salad special on a hard roll was mediocre and lacking in flavor. But did I mention how happy and friendly everyone is?! :)

Pine Plains, NY is not a big town. Only a handful of local businesses to serve the community and the family-based crew at Moose On The Loose Sandwich Shop passes w 5 stars! When you move away from NY, you realize how much you miss a deli sandwich. We ate here almost every day of this family visit. Breakfast sandwiches are perfect! Other deli items very good. The owners are apparently all related, service is friendly and hilarious. Recommended!! (Unless you want one of those grey hot dogs from Stewarts across the street!)

GREAT little place!!! Super friendly staff and excellent food. I had the Cuban on a hard roll with spicy mustard (none of that boring yellow stuff), it was a Homerun. My brother opted for the Chicken salad on a spinach wrap and loved the fact it was chicken and mayo ONLY!! Highly recommend!

Awesome home made sandwiches and soups. Everything is home made and amazing. I loved Connie's fire. 98 and sharp as a tack. I will be back for sure. Great food.

Make a delicious bacon egg & cheese. Yummy baked goods as well.......... Worth the stop.

The breakfast wraps and sandwiches are to make sure you don't die and wake up in the morning! The coffees are great. Staff is quick and fun. Nice little country store.

I've never made a Yelp page for a business. This was an awesome sandwich shop -- so good I wanted to make a page for them! The food is great. It's standard fare of high quality. We had lunch meat sandwiches on gluten free bread (aw yeah!) and breakfast sandwiches on bagels. Everything was great. The people are super nice and personable. We joked around a bit with them, and they were very accommodating to our requests and substitutions. Two thumbs up for the Moose!

Always very busy and the food is always tasty! This restaurant is a very cute family run business! Coming from the city, it's hard to find that sort of hospitality! I always love coming in and seeing everyone making food , reminds me of when I was kid!

Mary B sucks. We know what the B stands for. This place is great. No need to buy the newspaper when they can tell you all that you want to hear. Food is awesome. People are awesome.

Seems women behind the counter usually have an attitude. Too busy checking into local gossip. Very verbal in talking out loud (very loud) about local comings and goings. Food is good and prices not bad. Too bad so much gossiping going on.
