Hands down the best savory scone I’ve ever had! Cheddar, green onion, ham and bacon bits. Pretty busy spot on the weekend but line moves quick and lots of seating indoor and out. Drip coffee was tasty as well. Definitely a must stop when you’re in packwood

After a full day of hiking the great coffee, ambience and friendly staff at this cafe was the nicest thing we could ask for. They even had great suggestions for the Mexican food for us. Love this small nook in Packwood so tastefully set up. Their choice of books artifacts, decor, furniture even yeh music playing in the restroom everything was fun to experience. And on top of that the barista taught me something new - French vanilla is just half positions hazelnut and vanilla - voila!

Oatmeal choc coconut almond cookie- very good cookie with all the right flavors. Good amount of chocolate with a great coconut flavor. Crisp exterior and edges with a nice moist center. Ginger molasses cookie- perfect holiday cookie. Warm spice character. Whitney wants more ginger and said it's too earthy from the molasses. I would like either more snap or more moisture as it sits in the center. Absolutely would get again. Breakfast scone- with habanero pepper jelly. Man oh man, incredible. Best scone we've ever had. Moist and flavorful with the perfect jelly. Such a great treat. Blueberry muffin - really really good. Great flavor and tons of blueberries. Not quite as sweet as I like for a muffin but darn close and quite delicious. Mocha cold brew- fantastic flavor. Probably the best mocha flavor for a cold brew I've ever tasted. Very good.

We stopped in twice—once yesterday before hiking the Burroughs Mountain Trail, and again today before doing the Skyline Trail. Both days, the coffee was absolutely on point. The cold brew and vanilla latte were smooth, flavorful, and just what we needed to kick off a day of hiking. Today we also grabbed a breakfast scone, and it was delicious—flaky, fresh, and just the right amount of savory. The staff is super friendly and welcoming, and the shop has a great local vibe. This place is a gem in Packwood and definitely worth a stop (or two)!

5 Stars - A Hidden Gem During the Packwood Flea Market! I stopped by The Mountain Goat coffee shop and bakery in Packwood, WA during the flea market weekend, and I’m so glad I did. The service was absolutely top-notch. Gretchin, the barista, and Abram, the cashier, made the whole experience warm and welcoming. Abram greeted me with kind eyes and a friendly vibe—he even took a moment to chat while I placed my order, which added a personal touch that really stood out. I ordered a regular Americano with extra heavy whipping cream and honey, and let me tell you—it was perfect. No burnt flavors, just smooth, rich espresso and the right amount of creaminess. They even offer a discount if you pay with cash, which is a nice bonus. I loved that they had honey, cinnamon, and other spices available on the counter to customize your drink even more. They only serve Americanos in 12 oz cups, which totally makes sense so there’s enough room for ice or extras. I didn’t check out the bakery items much, but they looked good from what I saw. Also, huge props for having a separate hand washing station—super convenient and thoughtful, especially during busy weekends like this. ♥︎ All in all, The Mountain Goat delivered quality coffee, great service, and good vibes. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in Packwood! ♥︎

Wonderful muffins. I had an almond poppyseed and hot tea. Variety of flavors to choose from. Everyone was friendly and the restroom was spotless. Relaxing place, welcomes small children. Two inside sitting areas, one with larger tables and two sofas & coffee table. Soft listening music in background. Also, covered outdoor seating.

Google
Cute coffee shop with fresh roasted coffee beans. They had some food options, only a handful of gluten free ones. I heard the ham and cheese scone was amazing, so I'd recommend that if you can have gluten!

Great place to grab a coffee and pastry in Packwood. I was a bit disappointed by the limited savory options (little to no vegetarian egg breakfast items), but great seating, solid pastries, and warm service.

Yelp
This is a nice local coffee shop in Packwood that has a variety of coffee drinks and baked goods. I was staying in Packwood for a couple of days and walked over to Mountain Goat Coffee from my hotel. It is a charming little place with plenty of space for seating both indoors and outdoors. They also have a small gift shop with a number of local products for sale. I just needed something quick for the road and grabbed a breakfast scone and a Latte. The staff was really nice and I was happy to support a local business before heading to my next destination. Mountain Goat Coffee roasts their own beans right here in Packwood.

Yelp
Great coffee, the bags of any of their fresh roasted beans are my favorite and I grab some every time we visit. I enjoy the coffee more at home than the drinks I have ordered at the counter. The staff will tell you that they go VERY light on any flavoring you add to a drink, so be mindful of that when asking for a "vanilla latte" or something similar. Ask for extra! The staff could also work on being more polite to customers. I am sure they get a lot of out of town people that can be hard to deal with, but several times while waiting in line at my recent visit I saw the staff be overly rude to people for what seemed to be no reason at all. If you are not good with smiling and answering customers questions, you should step away from the counter.

Yelp
This place is so adorable!! They have lots of yummy coffee and pastries. I had the biscotti and a chai latte. Both absolutely delicious. There is lots of seating inside and outside. The barista behind the counter was helpful and quick in getting my order ready. I can only recommend!

Yelp
The two gals that were working the front on 12/23 were so so kind. We were instantly greeted upon arrival and once we were ordering, they were so patient with us, especially since my brother is autistic but we try to let him maintain some independence like ordering. We got a water, 2 redbull Italian sodas and 3 breakfast scones (those scones are the s***!! They are so yummy!!) for about $30. I was so shocked with the price and how reasonable it was since this is such a small town! They sell lots of cute stuff from sweatshirts, baby onesies -8 holiday wear, baby bibs, baby leggings, cards, reusable bags and soap! The overall store is very cute, we will be returning!!
google avatar

Yelp
been a few times; the scones don't always sit well with me. It tends also to be a very long way on weekdays. Still a good spot.
google avatar

Yelp
If u pay w/ a card they whack you a hefty fee. They don't tell you either. Shady biz move...I won't be back!!! Coffee was meh anyway

Yelp
Be prepared to wait in line, but it is well worth your time! We've had breakfast here two days in a row & ordered the Breakfast Scone each day! It's served warm, slightly buttery, with chunks of ham, lots of cheese, & slices of green onion. It's a fabulous way to start the day before hiking around Mt. Rainier! We've also ordered two of the three chai flavors, and caramel lattes. All the drinks are sure to please as well! There is ample seating (mostly outdoors). The staff are very focused to serve their long line of customers, so their customer service is a little lacking- that's our only critique.
google avatar

Yelp
Great little spit to stop and refuel on the caffeine and grab a sweet treat at the same time with in-house cookies and pastries made on site Seating indoors with a small gift shop selling pullovers and local coffee Outdoor seating undercover and good spot to stop and chill No food available so we opted to enjoy the coffee and find something more substantial elsewhere Service was nice and friendly with a great barrister who knew her stuff !
google avatar

Yelp
The food was very good but double check your receipt. The coffee was $3.25, the scone was $5, the pastry was $3.50, and the muffin was $3 (I believe) but somehow the bill came out to $18. I think they might have mischarged me but my receipt only had the total price. The line was long but moved quickly. Plenty of outdoor seating.

Yelp
Adorable shop in Packwood with coffee and pastries. Blueberry scones and pinwheels were super light and fresh, cookies and trail bar yummy. Very friendly service. Will be back the next time we're in town!
google avatar

Kat N.

Yelp
Amiable staff. Affordable coffee. Amazing service. I stopped at Mountain Goat Coffee twice during my camping trip to enjoy coffee and scones surrounded by the beautiful scenery (there is seating outdoors on the patio if the inside of the shop is full). This business seems to get busy and a bit crowded at times since it is so popular. However, I have no complaints since the employees were hospitable and service was speedy

Yelp
conveniently located right across from our hotel. Had the absolutely best cinnamon rolls ever. real cream cheese frosting on a flakey roll! to die for!

Yelp
My friends and I stayed in Packwood during our weekend travels out in Mt. Rainier. Mountain Goat Coffee was by far one of the best coffee/breakfast places we checked out in this small town. Plenty of freshly baked goods that were delicious. We tried everything from their breakfast scones, pinwheels and cookies. To this day I don't think I've ever had better cookies. Mountain Goat Coffee's cookies are amazingly good. I loved watching the employees baking in the back it was so heartwarming to watch. The coffee was tasty and I was happy to hear that some of their syrups were made in house. The inside of this place is very welcoming and cozy. Do anticipate a line of customers at his place especially out of town visitors! Plenty of indoor seating and an area for the kids. Do give this spot a visit if you're around.

Yelp
Went in to this lovely coffee shop in Packwood and while I didn't purchase any coffee drinks we did buy a bag of coffee to take home which was great! The pastries... cookies more specifically were really good. I was highly impressed by the Snickerdoodle cookie. Lots of great merchandise in the gift shop section and purchased several artesian soaps they had which smelled great. Worthy of many more stops when passing through.

Yelp
When your in Packwood town, do not expect too much of several options but rest assured there's something that will fill in to the most basic essential in life and one of that is COFFEE! Not a coffee connoisseur myself but bandit is. It's like the world is turning upside down when he can't have a cup of it. So goodness MGC exist and the best thing is that it's only across the street from where we stayed. How sleek is that? Lol. Believe it or not but for 10 days that we stayed in Packwood we never missed this place not even a single day! So the staffs working here became our friends and every day they always greeted us and are happy to serve us. Though some aren't friendly but so far all went pretty well and smooth. When we are in need of coffee and tea, MCG can surely helped you with that - cold or hot. Their pastries ate pretty tasty too. From scones to pinwheel which bandit and I devoured our tummy is always elated and satisfied at the end. If this is on your way, make sure to make a pitstop. Will surely warmth your heart especially that winter is here! Also they got a mini souvenir area inside in which you can purchase. Mahalo for reading and happy juandering fellow yeeps!

Yelp
I enjoy stopping by this coffee shop when I am in town. The pastries are delicious and the drinks are good, especially the chai flavors. The decor is mushroom themed which my son loves and the ambiance is relaxed and friendly among customers. Detractors are not enough staff and no online ordering. For example - our last visit in particular had one poor busy person working alone on a weekend with a line out the door, and you cannot order online to avoid this. This is a popular place and one person should not have to carry the store alone. If they improve this, it would be a five star rating. I have photos I will add at a later time.

Yelp
We found this place when our GOS gave us a backroad route home to get us around a traffic jam. Lucky us because we found this place. The coffee is not the reason to come here because it's okay. The real reason to come here is because the shop is cool with fun little tchotchkes, the restroom is clean, and that patio is a nice oasis after you're been on the road for a bit. We even got to watch a car accident across the street at a safe distance.
google avatar

Kelly C.

Yelp
If you're in or passing through Packwood make sure to stop here and get their breakfast scone. I believe the one my partner and I had was bacon, ham, cheddar, and scallions? It was super soft/fluffy, not hard like most scones, and the cheese really meshed all the flavors together perfectly. We also tried a few other pastries which were good but didn't stand out as much as the scone. Their coffee was good and they have a choice between 3 different chai teas if you're not a coffee drinker. The line was a little long even on a Monday morning but it went quick. Staff was nice and it was quaint inside. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Best coffee, cappuccinos, lattes around, way better than overrated chains like Starbucks. For 4 days my husband walked to their shop and got me 4-shot latte made with half & half - called by hipsters/snobs Caffè breve (is an espresso-based drink that's made like a cappuccino, but with steamed half-and-half instead of milk). As a side note Americans make everything snob like coffee or wine. I grew up in Buenos Aires drinking cafecitos all My life (espresso) and we are talking 1957 and up, no special names. We also produce and drink most of our wines and our motto is "if you like it have it with any food". Sorry no pics Had a chocolate chip cookie that was good and the next day a blueberry muffin that was the best I ever had, loaded seriously with blueberries not just sprinkled.

Yelp
We really wanted to like this place as it is the only coffee house/bakery in town, but the bakery offerings were incredibly sparse, and the coffee was mediocre. With all of the Seattlites coming to Parkwood, I'm hoping maybe there can be an upgrade in the future.
google avatar

Yelp
Thank you for the great service on very busy weekends. Love your great foods and coffee
google avatar

Katlin A.

Yelp
Quick l, great coffee! Got a flavored latte and chai - they have three variations of spice to choose from for the chai.
google avatar

Jasper D.

Yelp
Not good at all. First off the sign says coffee and bakery but their bakery is very sub par. Their food options were cookies a cream cheese pastrie and a bar. I got the bar since it was the only thing that was nutritious but it was too sweet and not very big. I also got an iced mocha but it was horrible and tasted like gasoline. Super disappointing considering they have such great reviews. Maybe they just had an off day ...‍
google avatar

Yelp
Awesome! There was a very long line, but it moved quickly and we were served even quicker. Friendly staff and nice vibe, cute gift shop area too. The coffee and pastries were delicious!
google avatar

Yelp
Cute coffee shop in Packwood! They had good coffee (had options like oat milk available), fast service, and the Breakfast Scone (cheddar, bacon, ham, and green onions) was my favorite!!!

Yelp
Great little coffee shop in Packwood, Wa, The atmosphere and the coffee were both delightful, would highly recommend!

Esperanza D.

Yelp
Friendly staff, great coffee, lovely shop. Unfortunately we came after a big outage in the area and they did not have any baked goods:(, but we tried the "hiker bar" (actually after a short hike and it was yummy) There was a big line BUT to me this is a good sign, it means the coffee is good and has its regulars. We ordered: a cappuccino, a frapé, americano and drip coffee and all were perfect. They also have decaf choices . Lots of tables indoors and outdoors. Saw a couple of ppl working from their computers, so keep that in mind in case you wanna enjoy a coffee while working with a view.

Joanna J.

Yelp
Their breakfast scones are pretty yum if you like savory breakfast. Will get it again.
google avatar

Kerri H.

Yelp
This place is fantastic!! The coffee was really good- they have their own roasts so we bought a pound to take home to CA! The adults ordered the savory scones and the kids both had tarts- one blueberry and one chocolate chip- and everything was delicious! The tarts had just been taken out of the oven and the server iced them special for our kiddoes (the icing has almond extract- so tasty- but fyi if you have allergies). The service was super friendly and helpful. The inside has several tables, including a cute kid-sized mushroom table! We sat on the rustic and lovely patio- and watched the elk across the street! Another place I would frequent if I lived anywhere near Packwood!!
google avatar

Yelp
Great breakfast scones. And great coffee and Italian sodas. We ended up buying the coffee beans. The staff was also great and friendly
google avatar

Yelp
You guys. The scones. I was not excited but I was so wrong. They are absolutely delicious. We ended up getting two. Ham and cheese and scallions. And they sell Seattle chocolate too! Loooove

Yelp
Stopped in for a snack and coffee. The breakfast scone and snickerdoodle were delicious Coffee was great, too!

Yelp
We stayed in Packwood on our way to Mount Rainier. We had coffee and blueberry scones. The scones and coffee were excellent! Everyone was friendly.
google avatar

Paul V.

Yelp
The winding road to Mt. Rainier is often lonely, with choices more along the lines of which scenery shots versus how many espresso shots. Then Packwood appears around the bend, and the happy respite of Mountain Goat Coffee makes the drive worthwhile. Whether iced or hot, sipping a cup on the inviting front porch in summer or tucked inside during winter will put you in that relaxed frame of mind. The people are friendly and helpful, and there are plenty of choices of the caffeine variety, plus tasty food beyond that. Ours was a summer visit, and we enjoyed the time just hanging out with the locals. We could have stayed a lot longer; too bad we had a schedule. We'll return if nearby again.
google avatar

Annette G.

Yelp
The coffee was hot and the scones were delicious! Would definitely go back if I ever go back to Packwood. Recommend getting there early, lines get long after 930 and they sell out of scones quickly.
google avatar

Steph W.

Yelp
Stopped by after hiking Mount Rainier. They have a single bathroom for patrons. I ordered a small decaf coffee and it tasted great. The servers are friendly and had a good experience. Pair your coffee with ice cream across their venue - you won't be disappointed
google avatar

Steph F.

Yelp
Stopped in to check things out while in Packwood for a weekend. Breakfast scone with meats, egg, cheese and green onion was good. Double chocolate brownie cookie with walnuts was also tasty. Shop has cute things and sells Blue Q brand punny and quirky goods. Service was average. Cashier barely spoke to us and didn't really seem like she was having a great day.
google avatar

Cherai L.

Yelp
I don't drink coffee but it said bakery so I stop in and Prices are high this ain't star bucks, pastries are good though but not much of a Selection. It's to bad the amazing Wizard of Oz bike sculpture ain't there anymore, That's what was bringing the customers in.
google avatar

Alora M.

Yelp
When you're traveling to Mount Rainier National Park you want to get up early and get going... unfortunately there's no breakfast places open before 9 or 10..! Luckily, though, there's this great little coffee shop that opens at 7... No real breakfast (eggs, etc) but they have a hearty scone with bacon, ham, cheese and green onions that fills you right up. Drip coffees are reasonably priced, and they were able to make an Earl Grey Latte with *sugar free* vanilla even though not technically on the menu. We added a poppy seed muffin which was a little on the dry side but still good. Service was fast and friendly. The decor is comfortable. Stay for a moment, stay for a while, it was a great way to start the day...
google avatar

Nora S.

Yelp
Nice coffee shop for a small town. Service is warm and friendly, but the coffee is only average. We only drink drip and didn't try any coffee drinks. They had pretty good berry pastries, but that was it in terms of selection when we went the first time. Because there isn't much in town, we did drop by a couple more times to get the kids Italian sodas and to see if they had additional baked goods. The place gets very crowded and the baked goods picked over. A bit disappointed with that. The kids liked their sodas though.
google avatar

Gabrielle G.

Yelp
5 star baked goods, 5 star friendly service, 5 star quality espresso coffee and Italian sodas, and 5 star location to go to before heading to the east side of Mt Rainier National Park and Gifford Pinchot Forest. Charming inside and outdoor seating. They also carry very cute arts & crafts and children's gifts, within their boutique ambience. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Michaela D.

Yelp
My friends and I stopped in looking for our morning pick-me-up while staying in town. I was impressed by the abundance of syrup flavors they offer for their drinks. I opted for an iced Hawaiian salted caramel latte, which was yummy! They have oatmeal cups, a couple scone/turnover options, and muffins - but that's about it for breakfast, as far as I could tell. I did enjoy the "trail bar" I picked up in hopes of tying me over on a long drive. Service was fast and friendly. Definitely worth a stop to fix your coffee craving.
google avatar

Raj R.

Yelp
Spectacular and mind blowing cortados/gibraltars/cappucinos. They also have oatmilk. Went back here 3x for the fresh baked goodies in the mornings. What a fabulous coffee shop - the beans are roasted for a super smooth coffee! I am so glad this gem exists on this side of the national park. The staff are all so sweet and wonderful. The baked goods are homemade- low on sugar butter fat. Just simply love it ! Pls keep doing what you're all doing. Its a great service to the community and visitors ! See ya all next time!
google avatar

Brian P.

Yelp
Overall decent atmosphere. It's primarily a coffee place. Pastry choices were less than plentiful. The layout is a little cramped when paying for items and have to squeeze by new customers walking in and out. The atmosphere is good and it's good for what it is. But definitely could stand some improvements.
google avatar

Gary L.

Yelp
Really nice coffee house with some pastries, and cookies . They do all of the usual coffees, drip, Americano, Lattes, etc. The coffees are good, the staff is friendly-ish (don't expect too much smiling, in our case we witnessed none) and efficient, and they have great places inside, and outside to relax with your goodies. The outside patio is very dog friendly, and your dog is likely to find another doggy friend in the process.
google avatar

Lea G.

Yelp
Cute, little coffee shop with awesome scones! Def come back next time we are in Packwood.

Hannah C.

Yelp
Fantastic coffee shop with amazing bakery items! Had the breakfast scone, it was fresh and absolutely delicious!

Abeerah M.

Yelp
Gave them several chances while staying in Packwood for a week. Super mediocre espresso based drinks. Unfriendly and unhelpful service for a tourist mountain town. The workers always had a bad attitude. Go down the street to the Base Camp Coffee shack instead. Baked items were also not good. The cookies were hard as rocks and the scones were a muffin consistency with a crunchy sugar coating. Scones are supposed to be a bit drier and firmer. Don't waste your money here.
google avatar

Melanie W.

Yelp
Delicious savory scones and great espressos. Cute art items, soaps, totes, mugs. Friendly and clean. Thumbs up!
