"The Mug House is a traditional public house located in the English village of Claines that dates back to the 15th century. Traditional in most senses, at least.
The exact location of the pub is near the junction where Claines Lane meets Cornmeadow Lane, just to the rear of Claines church. The position of the pub is such that one has to walk through, or very near, the graveyard of the church in order to access it. It is one of only two pubs in England to be situated on consecrated ground.
Macabre location aside, the centuries-old Mug House consists of four main public spaces inside on the ground floor. There is a back room, bar, hatch and a snug. The back room is most commonly used by diners at lunch time and from this room there is a view of the Malvern Hills. The hatch tends to be frequented when the other rooms are fully occupied. The ceilings inside the Mug House are quite low and as the building is timber framed many of the walls are not straight, as the building has settled over the years." - ATLAS_OBSCURA

I didn't eat here, and to be honest the beer selection is not the best unless you like cask. (The three cask ales they had on were decent) but the people here are brilliant.
The pub itself has a great location, beautiful views of the Malvern hills and the live entertainment was superb. The place has so much character, it's well worth a visit.

12th century alehouse, I think the monks brew house originally. Beautiful, and they've left a panel of the old wattle and daub, so you can see how it would have been constructed. And they keep a good pint. Didn't eat here, just went over for a drink.

What a great pub and garden that sits against a backdrop of the Malvern hills. The staff were lovely and a proper old school place to sit and enjoy life. Didn't eat here so can only give 4 stars but hope to return soon. Dog friendly and good walks nearby.

What a gem. We were visiting for a family event and needed a stop to get food before accommodation became available. Had googled for a pub that is dog friendly and The Mug came up and Im gold it did. Definitely dog friendly.
The ale (Black Sheep) was spot on, a great pint, and this coming from a landlord.
Food was humble and basic and exactly what we needed.
Thank you so much

I love this pub. It's cosy and quiet with lovely outdoor seating areas but in winter there's a real fire and they serve real ales. My sort of pub! Thank you 😊

Love this place and people. A.well pulled pint and not too pricey. Can get busy in the summer which shows how popular it is. Some bits are a bit ramshackle the outside mens toilet for example but that adds the charm. Great to see in in the day with the church in full swing. Also in spring and the tree blossom is glorious.

Visited this establishment on the back of listening to a podcast. Haunted Worcestershire Pubs. Ghost tales by the fireside.
What a wonderful place full of olde worlde atmosphere, the kind of pubs I enjoy.
One of only 2 pubs built on consecrated ground apparently.
Sat outside in the warm sunshine with a pint.
If you have never been to this pub do yourself a favour and visit, its fabulous and a warm welcome is awaiting you.

Lovely pub 🍻. Once time we have been and not the last. Outside seat in the garden. There's not a car park but parking is on the road beside the pub just a few steps away

Yelp
A quaint location (in a churchyard) and a fascinating interior. The beer is good (mostly Marston's offers Oxford Gold, Jennings, Banks's) and so is the food (try the ham, egg and chips). A regular haunt.

Yelp
A welcoming 15th century traditional pub serving well kept real ale. No fruit machines, no sky sports, no juke box but it does have its own ghost. Food served at lunchtimes only.
the only pub in england in a churchyard. Children friendly
