What a delightful little heart warming hotel & restaurant. Warm welcome on arrival, the manager couldn’t do enough for us during our stay, made us feel so comfortable and helped direct us with day trips we had planned. The rooms are well kept & head of house keeping made sure we had what we needed clean towels & top up of drinks & biscuits etc… Breakfast was enjoyable and dinner’s were great, very tasty hats off to the chef! Will definitely be back

This restaurant is an absolute must visit if you’re in the area. The atmosphere is fantastic, and the staff make you feel incredibly welcome. They truly go above and beyond to ensure you have an exceptional experience. The food is simply outstanding, with a diverse menu that caters to all tastes. Each dish is beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. Whether you’re a fan of hearty mains or delicate desserts, you’ll find something to love here! We had the seafood platter for two, and it was just incredible, the best locally sourced seafood in the Orkney Islands! They are also dog-friendly, which is a big plus for us!

Beautifully decorated hotel serving very good food but disappointed by the way complaints were handled. We had some issues during our stay with our room not being cleaned despite being out of our room from 10.30am until 8pm. When we returned the following day at 3pm, to a still uncleaned room, the hotel manager informed us that staff had until 4pm to do housecleaning. No explanation or apology was offered although the manager was aware the room had been missed the previous day.|Also had some issues dining in the hotel. While we enjoyed excellent service on one evening, on a second evening we had a wait of 90 minutes for food to be served and then had to send one meal back as cold. The dining room was cold and we overheard other diners complaining to staff about the temperature. The meal was then not invoiced correctly and we waited around while the hotel manager asked us to list what we had eaten and drank. There was no apology or recompense for the poor dining experience.|Another issue was the light sensor in the bathroom. The windows in the bedroom didnt open so we had to keep the bathroom window and door open to cool the bedroom. The light kept coming on during the night interrupting sleep. |Unfortunately, the light issue and poor customer service from the hotel manager mean we wouldn't choose to stay here again.

What a great place to stay! Rooms are comfy, warm and well appointed. The pub and restaurant are great. Suzanne (the manager) was born to host. We'll be back.

We had the highly recommended Seafood Platter for 2 which was excellent. Can’t comment on anything else on the menu but their main fare is great. Service ok with one lady looking after everyone. Book ahead as it was full on a Thursday night.||It is a 30 minute drive from Kirkwall on South Ronaldson so you definitely need a car.

Great to see this fantastic restaurant open in October when many are closed for the season. Extremely warm welcome when we arrived, especially with our dog who is still getting familiar with social environments. He loved the attention from the manager. Food was fantastic, highly recommend the seafood platter and orkney fudge cheesecake! Service was one of best we have experienced and we will definitely return to the restaurant and hopefully stay in the hotel.

Popped in on the off chance of getting a table in the restaurant as it was advertisedas dog friendly - no joy as it was fully booked (hence why they suggest booking in advance) instead they kindly offered to serve us in the bar which was absolutely fine. We had the deep fried cheese to start which was delicious followed by the fish and chips and the scallops for my partner - absolutely amazing. Service was exceptional and the dog was well received and looked after - cannot recommend highly enough!

On our first day in Orkney we drove across the islands to the Murray Arms for a great fish lunch - as per the marketing. My friends chowder and scallops were good, but my Sea Bass was dry and overcooked. Loving Sea Bass and coming all the way from Australia to enjoy the best Orkney had to offer, I was really disappointed. Was this fish even fresh not frozen? Is Sea bass even caught around Orkney. Maybe not. The restaurant boasts it gets its fish straight from their own boats, so I was expecting the best. Sadly disappointed.
