Mr. Alexander is a gem. His museum is spectacular and his Cuban sandwich and guava desert are both light, decadent, and delicious. Absolutely recommend.

I took my friends there to celebrate a birthday. We all had Cuban sandwiches and ageed that they are the best we've ever tasted. We shared a few laughs with Mr Anderson who is a very good host and chef.

By far the best Cuban sandwich I've had. The pastries were on point as well. The gentleman behind the counter was very kind and seemed well loved by the people coming in to the restaurant. Food made with that level of love is always going to be delicious. Live music being played was the cherry on top.

The Cuban sandwiches and yellow rice and beans were wonderful! We loved the guava pastry! Boe made it such a special experience! He is kind and generous with lots of fun stories! We hope to be back soon on our next trip to Florida!

Based on the contents, I had an idea that it would be an agreeable sandwich. I was blown away with how scrumptious it was. Also, the guava pastry is delicious. It has to be to follow that sandwich. It was all a mouth-gasm, so we also took a sandwich and dessert to go. The owner was a wonderful host and an instant friend.

Nice local spot. I went for lunch on a weekday with my dog and we had the outdoor seating area to ourselves - nice! I had the small cuban with black beans & yellow rice. Both were tasty. My dog enjoyed the stuffed potato. I have a light appetite. I thought portions were pretty modest for the price. Pricing was higher than what currently appears on Yelp. Bill for items in the photo was $18 & change. Overall a decent stop for lunch.

This museum and cafe is the creation of it's genius owner, Jim Anderson. On our first visit he prepared our meals, told us his story and we checked out the museum of printing presses he's collected and operated until it was time to eat (he served our meal too). His Cuban sandwiches are spot on traditional the way they should be including the bread from a Tampa bakery. We enjoyed black beans and yellow rice as well, and a delicious pastry. Of course he's got sweet or unsweetened tea, and beer or wine. There's probably not WiFi here, he says he doesn't even own a mobile phone. If you're in the Homosassa area be sure to stop and enjoy Jim and his cafe/museum. And there's also a historic sugar cane site next door.

If in the area, MAKE IT A MUST STOP! SUPPORT THE LOCALS! So I've been wanting to stop in here and try this Cuban I hear about! I'm glad I did it was sooo good! Fresh, hot, yet soft crispy bread - the way a Cuban is to be! I also got the Devil crab and a side of collards. It was all great! One of the best part is the owner, Mr. Jim Anderson himself shares all his family treasures, lifestyle, music, and stories with guest. The decor in the restaurant is musician heaven with different instruments and artifacts - very jazzy/blues feel. Come to find out from the very informative lady working, that Saturday afternoons they have live acoustic music from one of the band members?!? I need more info tooooo- ! I was there on my lunch break, so I need to go back to update more photos and hidden gem stories I just know this man has! This is the kind of history I love and cafes I want to keep around!! He also does tours and will walk you through his shop, which from the outside looks small but there's a whole area you didn't even know exist, with I believe, every machine that helped develop the history of printed production. Kinda cool! Very Personal and Real Education on REAL history!

If you are wanting a real Cuban sandwich this is the place. The staff is very friendly. It's like your neighbor that knows you. The owner collects and restores printing machines. His collection is amazing. You can walk around and see the collection while you wait. The owner is so friendly and is a big blues guy. He brings the Cuban bread from Tampa. The meat is delicious and cooked with lots of flavor. My wife got the Spanish bean soup. It was very good. This is a small home style restaurant you must try. They even have real deviled crabs. You can split the Cuban or take half home.

THE BEST CUBAN SANDWICH outside Ybor city!! Served pipping hot with a bowl of whatever else the owner is cooking. Best lunch in Homosassa. As an added bonus tour the museum, cool stuff.

The BEST CUBAN SANDWICH I've ever had!! Born in Miami and I thought it was weird when someone told me this place has the best Cubans... so I had to try it. I'm obsessed! I wake up thinking about these now lol...

This review is for take out only. My husband's friend told him about this little restaurant that offers up authentic Cuban food. So he decided to pick a couple of Cuban sandwiches so we could try them out and determine how good they were. He came home with one sandwich that we had to split for several reasons. #1- They only accept cash and he only had a $20.00 bill on him. #2 - Their price of a Cuban sandwich increased from $9.00 to $12.50 a sandwich. So that is why we ended up just sampling one sandwich. Their Cuban sandwich is delicious! The bread is crusty on the outside and soft inside. Slathered with some mustard (I would have liked a little more- truth be told) then slices of ham, roast pork, swiss cheese and pickles. Pressed until warm and crusty. It did satisfy our Cuban yearning, we definitely wanted more. Next time both of us will go with cash in hand and try eating in the restaurant. I heard their Cubans sides are just as scrumptious as their sandwich! Looking forward to trying this hidden gem in Old Homosassa!

True Cuban restaurant with ingredients for the Cuban sandwich sourced from Ybor city in Tampa. Had the Cuban and hands down the best Cuban sandwich in Citrus county. Equals any I have had in Tampa. Service was great and friendly with sandwiched made to order. Ambiance is exceptional combining a restaurant, printing business, and printing museum on site. We will be back.

The tuna bowl was amazing! Next time we will come before they sell out of the shrimpy. Staff was great, food was amazing, we will be regulars!

I took my husband to the Museum Cafe in Homosassa, Florida, because he loves Cuban Sandwiches. I wanted to go because I love music and anything to do with the history of printing. The Cuban was great, the soup was wonderful, but I must say the friendliness of staff and BoeCat were outstanding. The Print Museum was amazing. I used to be a typesetter and to see some of the printing presses and a Linotype machine was amazing. BoeCat has collected antique printing presses from all over Florida. BoeCat also plays in a band called Cool Corporate Cats. They are on Apple Music and Spotify if you want to check them out! This place is a local treasure.

Food was great, the museum was interesting and Mr. Boe was very nice. Cuban sandwich was very good as was the soup and desert.

BoeCat is one of a kind. The food, the atmosphere, hospitality, we will be back! I had the collard greens and deviled carb. Delicious.

Very rude lady. We came in an hour before closing. When we came in with a visible marked service dog, told us that we couldn't bring a dog in even if he was a service dog. She then asked ask us what we were going to do. I told her , first learn some costumer service skills and then the ADA laws. We just left. We went to another restaurant and were welcoming and super friendly. They told us the lady had a reputation for her rudness when the owner is not around.

I am diabetic and was craving a Cuban - I am avoiding bread - opted for the Cuban salad. What a delight - fresh ingredients - large portions. It was awesome. Thank you Lee & Boe - I will be back- the museum was enjoyable as well.

Fascinating museum of printing machines, delicious Cuban sandwich with southern sides, and gorgeous live classical guitar! So hometown friendly and genuine. A real gem.

To start with, I never eat out in Homosassa but HIGHLY recommend this place! My family has been living in the area for a while and recently (because my husband loves Cuban Sandwiches) we stopped in for lunch at the Museum Cafe. He got the special, which is a small Cuban and some red beans & rice. Its was a nice portion size but my husband could have eaten another sandwich he said because it was so delicious. I am a "difficult" orderer, due to being very conscientious about everything I consume. The local "old Homosassa " restaurants do not like this and have not been accommodating, which is why I dont eat out here (until going to the Museum cafe). I ordered the bean salad, with things on the side, minus other things, with extra things... not only was the woman kind and accepting of my dietary choices, she made it exactly as I requested!! And it was so delicious!!!

I would really liked to have tried this place for the "coffee and pastries". That's what we found them advertised as when we were searching for coffee. We were there a little before 10 & checked out the sugar mill ruins before walking over. They weren't open. We waited til about 10:15 without anything happening so we left. Things happen but it would be nice to put a sign on the door if you're not going to be opening on time.

I hope Jim Cat is there next time. Rice not done at 11 when they open at 10 am and she had no answer when I asked well how much for just a cup of black beans? She literally said I don't know . The Cuban was good though. I may give it another shot when I know the owner is there.

The perfect Cuban Sandwich Ybor City style! Served by the owner himself Jim Anderson. His warm smile, food and hospitality were a highlight in our road trip. Just a quick detour from 19 (conveniently located next to the sugar mill ruins) is this hidden gem. You can enjoy good food, intelligent conversation and tour the print museum. Jim has a long commercial printing career. He has managed to preserve and display many interesting artifacts still in use today. He is also a devout Florida historian. Feel free to ask questions or advise during your visit. Don't leave without a copy of one of his upbeat bluesy jazz cd's. You'll be glad you did!!!

I can't say enough about the warm welcome and the classic Cuban food. This is a must visit classic in Sassa. Beau is a long time resident and true renaissance man who is a printer, jazz singer, artist and kind soul. Don't miss the eclectic collection of printing machines that now print on Beau's handmade paper. You can even sign up for a class. Be sure to pick up a his own art, all made with a printers ink mixing spatula. The cafe serves food based on traditional Ybor city recipes. Even devil crabs. Just do it and enjoy the experience.

Museum Cafe is truly a cafe you need to experience. Not only is the owner Jim Anderson, knowledgeable about all things printing, he is charismatic and a musician! He makes the best Cuban sandwiches and once you try them you will find it hard to eat them anywhere else! Concerts are held here also highlighting local musicians. Good music, great food, good prices, you can't go wrong!

We arrived at 2 pm and they were out of nearly everything. The woman at the counter seemed more interested in socializing than taking our order. I will say that once we got our sandwiches they were good. The rice and beans were boring. Save your money and go somewhere with good customer service.

Meh! My friend and I stopped for lunch. She had the deviled crab cake and I had the Caldo Gallegos. Her crab cake cake all by itself. No sauce? We both had garden salads that were missing the olives and cheese as written in the menu. I ordered a Cuban coffee (Cafe con leche) which didn't include milk. Huh? Maybe the Cuban sandwich would be better but I don't eat pork or beef.

Let me start by saying this is my favorite place for Cuban sandwiches until yesterday. My husband stopped by to pick up a Cuban for me and as soon as I saw it I knew it wasn't the same as usual. I ask him who made it and he said the woman took it out of a case now I don't like mine pressed which it wasn't . The bread wasn't Cuban more like a hoagie roll and paper was still in the sandwich between the meats. I cut it in half and tried to eat half and threw it away my husband said he would eat the other half still in refrigerator. Guess I'll throw it away. He said guess they couldn't get Cuban bread. I'll probably give them another try but I'll watch them make it.

This is a unique and amazing place. The food is simple but very good. Excellent coffee and sandwiches. But the most fun is the museum of printing machines and presses. If the owner is available he will often run some of the old presses and show how the work.

A nice Cuban on fresh bread? Yes, please! That is exactly what you'll find here. The gentleman behind the counter was super nice. I had a Cuban sans the mustard and the pickles. I know, not a real Cuban, right? But hey, I'm picky. I had the bean soup for my side. Both items were excellent. It took me a minute to get used to the beans in the soup (I believe they were garbanzo? beans) as I just wasn't accustomed to eating that variety of bean. But the broth was delicious and the beans were as well. I even managed to dip my sandwich in the broth after eating all of the beans. Yum! Check out this little gem.

Really cute place! Stopped in on a whim and we're so glad we did. The deviled crab and Cuban sandwich were delicious! The museum of print making was an added bonus. Highly recommended!

Just finished a delicious Cuban sandwich with Jim, who graciously served us even though the restaurant had officially closed 15 minutes earlier. The mango cream cheese pastry was an extra bonus. If you want to experience Southern hospitality in old world Florida, this is the place for you.

I was very disappointed. There was hardly anything on the menu. The portions were skimpy, but the prices were high. I paid $9 for a $4 sandwich and no sides.

This is a must go to spot if you're in Homosassa. Go for the food, the hospitality, and to learn something new. James "Boe" Anderson is the man. Boe is a wealth of knowledge and one of the best people you'll ever meet. All the food ingredients come from ybor city/old Tampa area. The food is awesome, and he makes the best/authentic Cuban sandwich (besides my mother). Make sure to walk through and explore the museum; there's a lot of history, and cool things to see and learn.

Our family stopped in Homosassa to see the manatees on our way from FL to IN. We has lunch at Museum Cafe and it was great! The Cuban sandwiches were absolutely delicious. We each had different sides and they were good too. The owner talked with everyone there and made us feel very welcome.

been there 3 times in the last 2 months, first time a lady served me, not very plesant but the cuban was outstanding, 2nd time Jim the owner was there, great guy, great food, 3rd time i got the lady again, great food, service with an attitude again. i prefer to go where i can get good food AND pleasant service, this place isn't it unless Jim is serving that day. if i go back and the lady is serving, i will go across the street and eat average food and service with no attitude. SHAME,

A little gem in Old Homosassa next to the old Yulee Mill to get Ybor-style cafe con leche and good Cuban food. The owner Jimmy also hosts blues music festivals throughout the year. Part of the local flavor.

Owner is an excellent host, and good company. Food was good, setting enjoyable. They also have a few beers on tap. The owner also holds blues festivals behind his cafe, and offers many other services including an operational printing museum with classes. Cuban sandwich hit the spot. Thanks Bo!

I have been in Citrus Co since the early 1970s and Finally found a wonderful place to get the best Cuban sandwich ever !!! You need to try it and the printing Museum is very interesting and the owner so nice and friendly. I will Definatly go back and Soon !!!

We are from the Tampa area and his Cuban sandwiches are great. We come here every year when we are in town. We recommend stopping by but don't be in a hurry

1/2 A RATING IS ALL. After enjoying the Cuban sandwiches in the keys I was looking forward to trying the museum cafes. What a let down. No roasted pork piled high to enjoy, actually it had one slice like a piece of Deli meat for the "Pork". A little side note on the cafe de leiche, just as bad.

June30,2017 arrived at the restaurant at 12:03. No cars in parking lot.the open sign was on. Walked in and there was no one inside. Walked to the counter and discovered that cash register was open and no money in draws. Announced our presence loudly to no avail. Looked for dead bodies. Found none! We turned and left.

Cuban Sandwich was delicious. I had the Spanish Soup (simple mix of chick peas and spices) and my wife had the black beans and rice. Both were very tasty. Staff was very friendly and service was excellent. Definitely worth repeat visits.

i'm a tampa native and love spanish food, jim's cubans, garbonzo bean soup and collard green soup are great. check out his print museum for some really old printing equipment.
